@Big-Clyde52 Easy decision for you and me. But I didn't average 44 a night in HS. If I did I'm sure I would think I could fill OU's bb-arena as well as Heild.

I'm afraid a lot of what I would consider while choosing a school for these young men, isn't what they look at. An advantage to my job is I step back from the work at hand and offer a different view. It's easy to see the best/most logical solution given the limited # of facts we have about this situation and our distance from it. Put in the middle of the turmoil with all the facts (or at least a different set of facts), I have no clue how I'd respond.

Greatest comeback of all time • Feb 15, 2017 02:26 PM

@mayjay Fran's tweet wasn't an off the cuff remark. He had time to think before he hit send. He could've said confidence, Fran chose to use the word arrogance. At best it's an underhanded compliment. But why throw shade? He didn't call the game, why comment? Just to get a shot in? There are many complimentary words that he could've used.

There are worse announcers than Fran, but he was better when his disdain for KU wasn't so freakin' obvious.

Greatest comeback of all time • Feb 14, 2017 02:45 PM

Everyone's favorite Aunt Fran had a "compliment" for KU after the game.

@KUHoops comeback wouldn't have happened without Bill Self's preparation & confidence in his team. It's a good arrogance earned w/practice.

Arrogance?!? What a lovely human being...

How in the world does Bill stay focused on the game at hand with all the recruiting crap going on also? He's well paid for a reason!

W. Virginia Game • Feb 13, 2017 03:38 PM

@jayballer54 You can't have a rational conversation with an irrational person (or fan base as it may be). KU must beat them into submission every year and it will begin happening on the gridiron soon too.

You are right. When I lived in Lawrence I gave little thought to KSU, but in western Kansas it's a different story. I also feel as though I must wear a KU shirt or hat or both every day here. While in Larryville I wore a KU shirt on gamedays and every once in a while otherwise.

Gotta represent!

Sad news for KSU coach Snyder • Feb 13, 2017 02:59 PM

He still plans on coaching next season. Hopefully he makes a full recovery and Beaty gets to whoop him on the field for a few years! I'd love for KU to best Snyder at his best.

W. Virginia Game • Feb 13, 2017 02:53 PM

@jayballer54 Where I live, KU had best beat KSU. If not the purple pussies make t-shirts. They make my life as hard as they can for a full year. When ISU wins the KSU fans give me a hard time too. ISU fans are a whiny bunch, but they have nothing on the venom KSU and its fans hold for KU. It's a one sided rivalry, but a rivalry none the less especially for those of us who live in Kansas.

Trae Young • Feb 13, 2017 02:46 PM

@mayjay So shortly after television was invented? There is a reason why I don't subscribe to cable tv any more. Well one besides all the streaming options...

If it weren't for KU basketball I would have very little use for live tv.

I don't think the media would be overly harsh on Trae at KU, but he'd get national attention immediately. Whether or not he wants it he will be under the microscope for his short college career.

Trae Young • Feb 13, 2017 02:38 PM

@mayjay The media sucks. But maybe I should say, his daddy can't handle the media.

Trae Young • Feb 13, 2017 02:27 PM

Does Trae want to be the guy? Sounds like he can't handle negative media. How's that going to work when he's solely responsible for the fate of a program (OU)?!? We all know at KU he'd have someone else to help him shoulder the responsibility.

Here's hoping he's not scared of the media or anyone else for that matter. KU could use another alpha on the perimeter next year.

Wins like these win championships • Feb 13, 2017 02:19 PM

@elpoyo What moral victories? I only see 3 losses and I don't consider any a moral victory. Also it's hard to be too familiar with Tech's brand new coach...

And yes, that win at Tech is a good win. It's a game that past KU teams let get away (like the 10 loss Wiggins team). It's a sign of maturity to be able to win close games when the team isn't playing at it's peak. It was awesome to see Josh take over. Now we KNOW we have 2 alphas that can and will lead KU to victory.

So just how horrible was this victory? Ask Tech, they're still crying over their loss.

NCAA Tournament Committee sneak preview • Feb 13, 2017 02:07 PM

So they have it:

#1 Villanova

2 KU

3 Baylor

4 Gonzaga

5 Oregon

6 North Carolina

7 Florida State

8 Louisville

9 Kentucky

10 Arizona

11 Florida

12 Virginia

13 West Virginia

14 Butler

15 Duke

16 UCLA

IMHO Butler doesn't belong and Florida is too high also, but the rest look close. UCLA is too low.

Once again, don't waste too much time on these projections, there is too much basketball left for them to stand up. It's just a snapshot of where the teams were on that day.

NCAA Tournament Committee sneak preview • Feb 12, 2017 03:20 PM

The Big10 has had a top 4 seed since 2006, so has KU. Don't feel too bad Big10 the Big12 is getting used to being outperformed by one squad also.

NCAA Tournament Committee sneak preview • Feb 12, 2017 02:18 PM

Ok for KU, easy for Baylor. The bracket won't look anything like this on selection Sunday. It's fun for now though. Here's hoping KU maintains that one seed in the Midwest!

THE FAMOUS LANDON LUCAS SCREEN. • Feb 12, 2017 05:48 AM

If you think Miles Simon was bad...I had to listen to the Texas Tech home crew call the game on tunein radio while traveling. Wow, there where uncalled fouls on KU almost every possession and Tech got screwed on the few they had. One travel call aside (that Tech got away with) they said KU was better off. Made me wish for Fran for half a second :poop:

KUSports • Feb 12, 2017 05:39 AM

Now it works. It wouldn't work while I was in TX, NM, or AZ over the last 4 days, but it's working in CO. With any luck it'll work at home too. Weird.

I don't think you want to try to change a players shot who is only going to be here 9 months. The payout on that would be 2-3 years down the road. Josh needed to learn the system and build, not tear down on such a short schedule.

@BeddieKU23 said:

Kusports ran an article on it. They think its mostly mental with him. Says he shoots 90% in practice.

His 3 point % increased when he stopped thinking about it. Maybe he should get the ball at the line and just shoot it. Jack Gibbs at Davidson shoots it immediately after getting it, he's like 80%.

So was Brannen Green. Frickin awesome to watch. The refs better be ready when you hand him the ball. 'Cause he's gonna shoot it immediately.

No assist #'s before '75? I wonder how many JoJo averaged? Block #s for Wilt would be cool too. Is there tape of all the games? Could someone in fact go back and get the stats?

Steph Curry, Underarmour MVP • Feb 09, 2017 02:25 PM

MJ was able to avoid politics or anything controversial throughout his career. And look at how the advertisers love him. He's still the biggest shoe salesman for NIKE. Hell, I still love him. It's great to watch basketball and not have to think of anything important. I don't wanna be bothered with politics during a GAME I'm trying to watch. If I want politics I will watch much more qualified people than athletes give their educated opinion.

@BeddieKU23 The other young one, Svi, thought he would be a 2ad also. Time will tell. If Dok beasts out he's gone, if not hopefully he makes the (correct) decision to come back.

Visiting the Octogon....Advice welcome • Feb 06, 2017 02:32 PM

@stoptheflop Wore my KU hat and shirt to a KU football game in Manhattan. I never actually made in past the parking lot though. Too much tailgate action with the people I came with. Afterwards we went to Aggieville- Jake's Last Chance Saloon. The place was chalk full of morons, I heard a couple of the most racist conversations possible. I also had some really cute girl hang all over me for 3o minutes (because of my Jayhawk hat) before I could get rid of her. My wife, who was there with me, was not impressed.

Josh Jackson • Feb 06, 2017 02:54 AM

Both would be nice. Lots of length on a team with the two of them.

Visiting the Octogon....Advice welcome • Feb 05, 2017 04:50 PM

Careful when looking them in the eyes. They aren't used to that and may act strangely.

Arizona and Oregon • Feb 05, 2017 02:18 PM

And Arizona looked like one of the best teams in the nation when they played UCLA. I wonder how ugly their message boards are today? Hopefully the 6 top 10 teams losing yesterday put a lid on the hysterical hand wringing that can happen after losses. Hopefully for us, I mean.

Josh Jackson • Feb 05, 2017 02:12 PM

They're both nice players. Wiggs team wouldn't have won the conference without him. May not have even made the dance. The team around Josh team is much better. Josh is much more productive without the ball in his hands. Wiggs is a better shooter and defender. Josh has more desire to win. I think Josh's motor will get KU further in the tourney, but Wiggins did a hell of a job to keep the streak intact, that team wasn't any good especially without Embiid. However, had it been the second year of Wiggins, Embiid, and Black together holy crap that would've been special!

Josh is a final four motor. Let's inable him!

Josh Jackson • Feb 05, 2017 04:04 AM

@ralster Not quite 75-0, but pretty darn good.

2 losses in 14, 1 in 13 and 12 also. But a 40 game home court win streak is in there as well.

I believe the current longes home court win streak stands at 41 games. (Neither UK or KU unfortunately)

A break from our own troubles • Feb 03, 2017 03:09 PM

Before the investigation is complete there is no need for us to speculate. All that does is exasperate the situation. Step back, swallow your fear and see how it plays out. Leave speculation to the haters. The reporters at the Enquirer...I mean KC Star have stirred up quite a bit of crap lately. Doesn't mean it's factual. It does mean we have to deal with the :poop: storm though. So wait and see before casting judgement, you're much less likely to look like an a$$. I leave that to my KSU "friends".

Reviewing the Baylor W • Feb 02, 2017 04:58 PM

@Crimsonorblue22 What I recall was BIFM, JJ, DG putting constant pressure on the Baylor D drawing fouls. I dont recall Baylors O much due to KU constantly switching from m2m to 2-3 to triangle and 2. Other than Motley BU wasn't very great offensively especially once KU got them sped up. Thus the foul discrepancy.

Reviewing the Baylor W • Feb 02, 2017 03:33 PM

It seems as though these warriors thrive on the court and don't want to sit on the bench at all. The short bench has really galvanized the team. Seeing Lightfoot and Coleby get minutes seems to gives them a boost too, as they want to reward their hard efforts in practice and enthusiasm for the game. Fresh blood caries an innocence and joy that carries over to the rest of the team. It's nice to see.
