@Crimsonorblue22 Yes, the octogenarian of dumb (where basketball goes to die) will be rocking. There will be shirtless 300# men wearing purple coveralls pounding their chests! There will be a few really cute gals that turn repulsive when they open their emaws to reveal no teeth. There will be lots of pre-game smack talk and no acknowledgement of the loss afterwards, just lots of excuses. The crowd will be very quiet near the end of the game as KU extends its lead... The court will empty of players and the fans will exit in an orderly fashion.

@stoptheflop I wish Landen had as good of hands as Dok. There are scoring opportunities that KU has to pass on because of stone hands in the post. Lucas has greatly improved, but some people just don't have great hands. Unfortunately Coleby has no offense and Lightfoot is a bit too inexperienced to be much help and Bragg is unavailable. This puts quite a bit of pressure on Jackson and he has responded well!
@bskeet Hasn't KU played everyone once? So the back half should be easier. No at WVU, no Hilton. Hardest games are WVU at Allen and KSU and Baylor on the road. There's the annual stumbling block at OSU, but all these games are very winnable.
Good God! I can't remember a this many crappy announcers. We're stuck with Fran and Dickie V most of the time. Fran hates KU and Dick is a moronic ball of phlegm. Too busy throwing out catch phrases and raving about Cameroon to notice a top 3 matchup is actually a good game.

9 times out of 10 it recreational. Same as alcohol. It's just different legally. The problem isn't the legality it's the morality. The problem is, if you don't agree with the law you change it. Don't break it. Difficult to get thru a young one's head while they are bullet proof.
So what are the consequences for smoking weed? Three games, six games, 1/2 year, kicked off team? How about for drinking under age? Breaking curfew? Wearing white after Labor Day?
The kid made a mistake. He needs to be given a chance to fix his mistake, if he can't then he must be dismissed. To cut bait now would be doing Carlton a great disservice. If you believe that he has a drug problem then he needs help, not the cold shoulder. If you don't believe he has a drug problem, then what's all the fuss?
I'm pretty sure they're all told to get back so as not to foul and prevent a home run pass. I'd like to see one guy stay up and force the man to pick up the ball, not play actual D and risk a foul call, just make him touch the ball.
As for selling calls, if you flop and no call is made your man is unguarded. I think this is Landen's fear (possibly coaching as you see very few KU flops).
Or alcohol use for that matter, most are minors. Alcohol is just as destructive if not more.
@brooksmd Not legal, but do they allude to consequences? Pot use on the basketball team is very common, players that haven't smoked at some point are more rare than most realize.
How is this not confusing for a college age student when the US can't make up its mind? Mixed message much?

@Kcmatt7 You nailed it, platoon player. Lots of pop against righties none against lefties. I expect 20-25 homers. It goes against some of what the Royals have been doing lately, he isn't a contact hitter, but rather a big strikeout guy.
I liked the action off of the faked lob to a streaking player leading a real lob pass to the cutting screener. Looks like a play KU could run well since everyone expects a lob at some point. Brilliant play.

Multiple pipes were found one with residue in it. It usually takes 6 moths to a year for the pipes to be tested by the KBI. If the court date is 2 months after the incident then he likely admitted guilt. This is the smart move if he hopes to play this year. If he waited on the pipe to be tested he would be suspended for much longer waiting on the results. Either way he could be dismissed from the team given. If this were the only drama around him I'd say no big deal, but it's not. The two girlfriend incidents while not entirely his fault do paint him in a negative light and give him a strike, earned or not.
Also his lawyer suppressed the police documents from the assult charges as it would paint Carlton in a very negative light. (drug use again)
I'm willing to bet 50%+ of the basketball players under Self have smoked dope while playing for KU. We all know Mario and Arthur did. I know for a fact others did/do as well. The problem with this isn't that pot is going to ruin their lives the problem is it is illegal in Kansas and everywhere federally.
Here's hoping Bragg can figure out that delaying that gratification will lead to much better things on the court than he'll ever find in the bottom of a bowl.

I take Larry Brown's lessons to heart. We are the best fans in the world. I refuse to sink to their level. I will delight in my teams wins, not others losses. I have a real program to root for, almost makes me feel sorry for them...almost.
I didn't notice the refs unlike the WVU game. Good refs to stay mostly invisible.
I thought the out of bounds call at the 2:58 mark was correct. The ball carroms off of #3's leg then narrowly misses Svi's calf. You can tell it just misses on a big screen, but on my little ipad screen it looks like it touches Svi.
I thought the post wasn't supposed to be able to bang down the defender like that anymore. Seems like Landen has gotten several fouls trying to establish position in the post this year. However, I'd rather the refs swallow their whistles than make their presence known.
@wissox That's why I rarely chat. I enjoy the games more than about anything else. I'd hate to miss something that I've waited all year for, so I can prove my brilliance (or ignorance as it may be) in print. Commercial breaks...the gloves come off!
@BShark Self only breaks out the zone when his back is against the wall and he want the win bad. If it was a regular conference game I imagine he would've left them to fight thru it- against the big boys or in the NCAA's all bets are off.
I loved watching old man Lucas show up those freshmen. It's amazing what you can do with a little experience. UK has the talent to beat anyone, but KU has the experience. Not to mention the experience of beating the pre-season top 2 teams!
I only worry about a loss when KU is playing a as well as they can and the other team is still close on the scoreboard. You know eventually KU will begin to play to their average. So if KU comes out slow and stay in the game I expect a win, but when KU is hot and the other team is still in it I expect a hard fought game that the outcome is in doubt.
As I said earlier, Can't play much worse, it will get better.

@KUSTEVE I never expect KU to lose. So I'm blindsided by every loss. But I enjoy every single victory. Enjoy the anticipation of a game, the build up, and of course the game itself!
Losing Bragg stinks. Now there is no backup height. Coleby is mentally shot and Lightfoot is 6'5" tall trying to play the post in D1. I love Lightfoot mentality, but his frame is too short and light. The loss of Bragg wouldn't be nearly as big without the loss of Dok.
As it is now our guys whom Bill says are already distracted by the rape investigation are now distracted by Bragg. Hope they snap out of it and focus only on the game at hand. That's the best way thru distraction/turmoil -do your job and do it well.
@TRUBLUE KU should've killed the high on the court double team, but KUs floor spacing was poor allowing one WVU player to effectively cover 2 Jayhawks. Hope they work out those kinks in practice, now that they have been publicly embarrassed.
If the three hadn't been falling KU would've drove it more which would've resulted in more fouls and turnovers both. Depending whom the fouls were called on it could've been better for KU. But there were times when KU moved the ball very crisply and if created open three looks that I liked. It just seemed like the Hawks lost their legs in the second half.
There are positive teaching points. I fully expect a 10 point win in Allen Fieldhouse as long as they learn from this experience. Sometimes you have to out execute the refs too, if no one is within 5 ft it's harder to call a foul.
The newspaper is speculating, we shouldn't do the same. Wait and see, hopefully it's a story none of us would be aware of if it weren't in this location. Unfortunately for the young girl the story isn't about or for her, it's merely to generate looks. The new ownership LJW yea!!!
