Well guys I dunno. - -So far our two biggest recruits Pookie Williams and our other stud dam I can't even remember his name - -maybe because of my fire water right now lol but they still remain committed. Are they really that loyal to the program and out asst from Louisiana ? If some how we can get them to hang on till the early signing in December. - - Let's see Devonte Jason is that his name?

I think these two players are HUGE for the program - some how - - - -some way we have GOT to land these guys, and to their credit SO FAR they have remained loyal to their verbals even though just about every major other D-1 school is on them, If we can get them to sign in December that's a Huge plus all things considered -Is their loyality to Coach that sincere? - - hope so. -- ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

I recall the Morrii thought it used up to much energy to dunk their first year. I've played plenty of INTENSE driveway games on a nine foot rim and I actually agree that it's a lot harder to stretch and dunk than shoot a bunny layup.

I remember many many many moons ago back when I was in High School and playing Basketball Our Coach would make us shoot 100 free throws everyday before practice - -for everyone we missed we would have to run a lap - -seems to have worked out pretty good for us - you sure didn't want to miss many lol.

Something else little bit of a side item here. I know e have seen at least maybe some others besides me in the past have noticed some in recent years seemed like we have had some players work hard to post up -get great position or get a perfect pass an instead of flushing the ball - -attacking the rim - they wanted to finer roll the ball off the backboard lay it up easy off the glass - -that's always been a pet peeve of mine - -take the dam ball to the hole - -make that defender pay for getting beat. - -Kind of like old " Chocolate Thunder " Daryl Dawkins use to do - just destroy the rim lol.

Another instance of when I was playing high school ball , back in my day Hell if you had a guy like we did during this time frame we had a 6'5 Center - -yes Center and that was big during that time anyways around our parts it was - he had some huge game - 51 pt games 53 pt games - -

Anyways use to love it - Coach get so mad during practice - Coach would get a latter - -get two basketballs - climb the ladder and then drop both balls through the rim at the same time and he would say now if I can put two balls through this rim then you guys should sure the hell be able to put one through - -talking about our shooting lol.

He also would get all over our 6'5 center - -he would walk to and point up to the rim , he would say - - -" Randall THIS is an apparatus - - then he would show our Center the Basketball & he would say " Randall this is a BALL " - -NOW Randall take THE BALL - - to the APPARTUS - -use to laugh my ass off at that lmao - - Sorry guys got side tracked but thought maybe some might get a little mini ha ha at of that possible - -sorry. - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

Well they was talking about in the past when teams have been shy on depth that Basketball Coaches have hit p their football programs fro help. - -We have had football players in the passed, -I can think of one anyways - - Clint Normore - - Play a sweet game for us I believe hit a clutch shot in with Danny in National Championship Game right?

Well anyways they was talking about our front line, talking about how Self had left Doke in for conditioning , but mentioned that at some point Self was gonna want to in some games be able to rest his players - -Well this is where this came up there is a Current KU football player they said maybe Self ought to check into about after the season coming onto the Mens basketball program/
The kids name is James Sasinski - - -he is a walk on tight end he is 6'7 & 260 lbs. He is from Chandler Arizona

Well last year he played Basketball at South Mountain Community College in Phoenix and he averaged 19.1 ppg per game and 12.6 rebounds per game - not to bad - -So they were saying he would be a kid that could come in and give some minutes at the end of the game so Doke could rest and such - -Hey it's an idea and give a little depth to the front line this year who knows - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

Well we are officially underway. - -A few of my observations from last night. - As we all are fully aware of it's really kind of hard to get a good take on the guys from games like this , however with that being said:

First I think Billy Preston has a really good chance to become a beast, looks to me like he is a physical specimen, has a chance to do some really good things, I think his biggest problem at the beginning anyways is being able to stay out of foul trouble. As that's going to be the issue with ALL our big men that we do have.

Another thing that I saw last night was, and by no means was he needed last night BUT in order for us to reach our maximum potential this season we can not have Devonte have any of these " Where is he nights " - Devonte was non exsistant, I full believe he was quite content with just more or less passing the ball off stepping back and letting all the others get involved and or doing their thing. I fully understand but even last night I think he should of been a little more in touch he was just to laid back last night. - -Again I think for us to succeed Devonte is going to need to be a 14-15 ppg player through the season, he needs to bring his game - -every game whether it's actually needed or not , cause for the most part he is going to be needed game in game out.

Next call me crazy but I'm just a Mitch Lightfoot fan - - I realize he is never going to be a major thing , but he battles - -he competes has the heart of a Lion. For sure just a spot player, but that can be Big. - With our front line so thin we are going to need minutes, last night while he played - -he tried - a couple of blocked shots a few points and a couple of rebounds - -that's ok we don't need huge point production from him -we need him to come in a spell Preston and Doke when in foul trouble , the thing for him he needs to stay away from that damn 3 pt attempted shooting not happening.

Doke? - - we can't gauge Doke from last nights game.- - I will say he needs work - - - seems looks still raw, the key is potential. - -Makes me really wonder what his future really is in the NBA. - -That's not a knock- -BUT just plain and simple questions raised, The NBA is leaning more to smaller fluid player - -Doke seems to be one of the fewer pure bigs, question is in the flow of the NBA will he be able to keep up with the pace? -He needs work on his shots and conditioning - - Another thing man what's it going to take to be able to get him to improve on his Ft shooting? - -It is going to be ugly, there is going to be times where anytime he gets open pretty much as been mentioned they going to hack instead of giving up the pts - he has got to work work work - -Gurly was saying last night he should be shooting 500 ft every day to work on it.

Overall as a team- we looked good at times - -we looked sloppy for sometimes but it was really the 1st outing In reality. -just some thoughts - -- next - - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

@mayjay Well at this point Kentucky has no other big's - -they think they have lost Bol Bol to Oregon and damn I can't think of the others but they are really hoping for Zion - -I think with Quickley pushing that's where he lands.

I'd argue that WSU is not in a spurt with a "core group". They have been to the tournament every year since 2012. They have basically an entire roster turnover since their Final Four team in 2013. I agree that if Marshall leaves, you have to re-evaluate them, but the fact that they move conferences now, while they are on this run could help them recruit to sustain this if Marshall does ever leave.

WSU has 10 NCAA tournament wins in the last five years. That's pretty impressive, particularly for a team that has been a double digit seed twice in that stretch.

They had their best recruiting class under Marshall this year, their star PG is a sophomore. WSU has the pieces in place to continue to be good under Marshall for the foreseeable future. Maybe not national title good, but WSU could certainly become the midwest version of Gonzaga or Villanova. They have enough Koch money to compete for recruits, particularly in a better conference now.

They aren't a national power, exactly, but it wouldn't surprise me if they were in the Sweet 16 every other year or so.

Have to agree with you pretty impressive during this span. - -Actually isn't that rivaling or not even better then our own KU during that same time frame? I don't see them regressing at all. I think Marshall isn't going anywhere for at least another 4-5 years and as you say by that point - -don't think it will matter

I just think that ONE more game switching WSU for somebody would be a very entertaining competitive game to watch.

So while I'm sitting here trying to pass the day away till " ITS'S HERE " game time tonight random thoughts going through the head and I wonder now , why AREN'T we scheduling Wichita State in Basketball? Before we hear the patent answer of What do we gain - -or nothing to gain from it - - - Please that excuse is getting really old.

I mean ya I agree at one time , at one point that would of held true But now - - - - -come on. - - -You have to realize MOST fans of the game would much rather see a KU/WSU contest then KU - - -South Dakota St - - Oakland - - or even Arizona State or Stanford. Let's be brutally honest here - -who is the better team now WSU or / Arizona State - -Stanford - or for sure the others I mentioned? - -Keep it real.

Wichita State has accomplished more then Arizona State/ Stanford or any of the others I mentioned for sure, and has established their program as a very solid program. - -So the question of what do we have to gain - -isn't jack any longer. - -We play them and win does nothing but help our strength of schedule, our RPI a win against another top 25 program. If we would happen to lose it's not as bad as losing to smaller programs - -the true upset.

I get the whole Missouri thing -I understand completely , and I understand about WSU in the past the Missouri Valley thing and all, but they have moved past that, whether we want to admit it or not they have become a respectable program - -very solid.

So what's the real reason of not wanting to play them? - -I hope to GOD it's not the old cliché saying about KU as once referred to as snob hill, looking down our nose at what we feel as inferior and greater then thou. - -I'm know we are better but since we are then play the game and shut them up. - - unless - - -we are truly afraid - -afraid of getting beat by them - - -Again. - -are we afraid? - -hope not - - -surely not. - -This game could be a really good rivalry - -better then the KU/KSU thing that's for sure, that damn thing is so one sided. - -How can it be a rivalry when it is so one sided? the other team needs to win once in a while for it to be a rivalry- Why can't we have a home & home series with them - -or a 2-1 ?
