2023-24 Non-confernce Schedule • Jul 20, 2023 11:08 PM

@Texas-Hawk-10 said in 2023-24 Non-confernce Schedule:

The Big 12 sort of announced the conference schedule today. They announced who everyone would play home and away, only at home, and only away.

KU will play Baylor, Houston, KSU, OU, and OSU twice, BYU, Cincy, TCU, and Texas in AFH, and ISU, Tech, UCF, and West Virginia on the road for their 18 game conference schedule. Exact dates coming later on.

BYU was saddened by the fact they weren't getting to play KU at home this yr

Well dam , I was reading that we had made the top 4 for Flory Bidunga, was getting a little excited,, was reading he had a strong Adidas connection, & Ku was the only one of the 4 that was Adidas

It'sKU , Auburn , Michigan , & Duke. --Is this going to turn into a NIL bidding war ? - -was reading from on 3 that his NIL value is at 530,000 dollars. - They say they way they determine that is performance - - Influence - -& Exposure. - -Anyways hasn't set a date but has said he would like to make a decision before the start of his Senior Season. - - So overall was gettin my hopes up a little bit when w made the final four and then - - -

Read in several of the response from the tweet that he is a DUKE lock - -dam , dam, , dam - -is that true? - -probably has anyone heard any inside on it?

@Texas-Hawk-10 +1 and I agree. This shows what we’ve heard that early on this team seems pretty night even with all the new faces.

Juan, Kev and Kj are great dudes and team players. Morris is on his best behavior and Hunter knows he’s the man but still respects Self and his refining.

Throw in the freshman who already want to naturally please Self plus Braun who I’m sure has heard all about how things go….we look good!

Get us that Aussy Bill!

@BShark @FarmerJayhawk - think he plays any significant minutes?

I doubt Self would be targeting a wing that can't immediately contribute at this point. KU needs playable depth at the 3 and 4 spots right now and with Furphy's size, should be able to back up both Adams and McCullar to get decent minutes.

Agree if they can land him, the minutes are available for sure at this point. we need the help

I wish some poster here who are connected and in the know would please enlighten us as to what the hell is going on ..
This is the weirdest year for KU B-ball ever.

I know where you coming from buddy - - I just some what wonder if these kids also in their decision to leave I just wonder if somehow - -someway word has leaked about the final decision on this whole investigation and they worried about not getting tourney exposure or something weird like that. - - I myself don't think we are getting a ban but I dunno, sure seems like something is up

Welcome, Marcus Adams Jr.! • Jul 16, 2023 11:57 PM

@Texas-Hawk-10 said in Welcome, Marcus Adams Jr.!:

This opens the door for a lot more minutes for Chris Ledlum if KU pushes for him. Probably at 20 minutes per game available now playing the back up 3 and 4 spot in a smallball line up.

Also thinking it's possible McDowell doesn't redshirt now as well depending on what happens with Morris.

I was thinking about that myself TexasHawk. - - Sure seems if Ku is even at least interested in tryin to gt Ledlum, NOW is when they should be calling all hands on deck. - -Sure seems like the way things are the time is there for the taking. He wants floor time, no reason why he shouldn't be able to get it. One would sure hope/think they are trying to set something up with him at this point.

Welcome, Marcus Adams Jr.! • Jul 16, 2023 09:55 PM

So looks like probably Zach won't be red-shirting going to be needed for depth, - -hope we can find a couple of quality players yet. - -It has now become a big challenge for us to win the Big 12

I hope KU football continues to improve, but 6-7 with a bowl game loss is the definition of mediocre. 1-7 down the stretch is less than mediocre. I do believe Lance can make this team competitive, but I don’t know that the current talent is enough. I wish Jalon Daniels had 4 years left lol I think he will be a big part of the turnaround. Finding that next QB will be huge - it’s been nearly 15 years between decent QBs for KU.

Everything I've heard and read is we FOR SUEE have our QB of the future, kid is a stud, we just got to hang onto him till early signing, I don't think our problems will be with the QB -still going to be on our defense right now

Zeke is Jalon 2.0

he sure is from everything I've heard and seen from camps he has taken place in - -looks really nice

Interesting on Brett Yormork. --- -- during the Big 12 media says he was talking saying on expansion that he likes 144 Schools , but if we go back to the 12 Schools he is perfectly fine, however if the opportunity presents it' self - - -

Ye during a different discussion with ON 3 different answer. He was asked the question : If we were to talk two years from now and the Big 12 hasn't expanded - - -would he be disappointed ? - -Yormok replied- - - thats a very interesting question. Then answered yes I would be a little disappointed. - he says 14 teams just kind of feels right.

Bottom line it really looks like that 14 teams is the target number Yormork would like, and it sure sounds like , that Colorado will be one & then he is really focusing in on U Conn bcause he is a Basketball guy and coming from the EAST. - They said some people frown on that but they came back and said you give U Conn 35 million from being in the big 12 and football wise, not saying they would win the big twelve but pretty sure they would field a competitive team.- Mora getting them to a bowl in his 1st year , they would be invested.

Sounding more and mor like the two teams he is targeting is Colorado & U Conn. - -botto line is thee will be more schools in the Big twelve and it will be sooner then later when the dust settles.

That's always good to hear, then w just got to get ahead of OU. - Read some said they think if he was super interested in OU he would of committed in the Spring. -I'm beginning to think it's either us or K/State

Farmer, my friend , looks lie were not out of it quite ye. - -We are in it till the fat lady sings and right now she is nowhere to be seen.

Read where Kansas # 1 rated player Micheal Bog- is going to make his vist to KU at the end o the month the staff has invited him to a BBQ they are having , MB stated that probably KU had been the School tht recruited him the hardest , and that KU probably was the School that showed him the most love , and how all the recruits had reached out /tweeted him.

Ya I understand chances are pretty slim BUT - - - - - - hey we have a chance, a couple are saying the longer this plays out, they feel the better our chances- Come out guns blazin at the BBQ. - Any thoughts buddy. Fat Lady not here just yeet. Would be a huge pick up

NBA Summer League • Jul 14, 2023 02:39 AM

Our Boy Jalen Wilson doing his thing. Major props buddy. he is on a two way contract with Brooklyn this year - - well Jalen has team up with the Brand of Wilson ,
And Jalen is donating 100.00 per point , & 50.00 per assist to the local YMCA'S in Brookly right now his total he given is at 5,300 dollars - -Atta Boy Jalen you be the man we appreciate you. - -ROCK CHALK all the success to you buddy, hope you make it big

Just more signs pointing at expansion. - -Deputy Commissioner of the Big 12 says " he would be SHOCKED if we don't add member, and add members soon.
Saying referring to the PAC 1 , He says If we had any good news about media news we would be shouting from every mountain top, but we have silence- -Silence can mean something else.

Then this just broke - - the CW has struck a deal with the ACC , just adding another nail in the coffin of the PAC 12, the only option they have left pretty much is with Apple which would be 100 % streaming and your schools sure the hell not gonna be coming close to what the Big 12 schools going to be getting with Apple.

Re-affirming Deputy Commish echoed the statement of Yormork --We have a plan - we have a plan bout expansion and w hope to be able to get it done and get it done sooner or later

Talk came up about U Conn not sur here but sounds like maybe that might not be real until maybe the new contract come around , but not sure. - Deputy commissioner said part of what they are looking for in expansion is not necessarily the number - - 2- -4 what ever but looking at what schools are available and what or if they can add Media value.

They hope like when the new contract comes around , they say right now it's like 0.75 cents on the dollar goes towards football, they hoping to separate completely separate contracts football & Basketball as to where it would be Basketball & Football 0.50 cents on evey dollar - -either way expansion is coming and think it's coming very soon with Colorado and Arizona

Mangino's first coaching job was while he was working for the Pennsylvania turnpike in Western PA. He coached at a small NAIA school Geneva College. My sister and her husband have both worked there since 1990, although I'm not sure they were ever accosted by Mark Mangino. Their town BTW is the home of Joe Namath and the Miller brothers of college hoops infamy. Right across the Beaver river is New Brighton, home of the Franconas of baseball fame. Pistol Pete and Mike Ditka played HS ball for Press Maravich right across the ohio River from both of those towns. Very productive area!

@jayballer67 Not sure if you understood me, but I've been under the impression Mangino was unfairly removed. After reading Texas Hawk, I've changed my mind. Pretty tough to defend him I think.

it's ok buddy. everybody has an opinion and entitled, maybe I'm a little more sensitive about this as he is family to me

@Texas-Hawk-10 Interesting about Mangino. My impression up to this point was he was just a victim of modern day political correctness that can't handle a macho coach being physical with a player or two, but who truly loves that player at the same time. There was a HS coach in Madison who was highly successful, put numerous players in the NFL and slapped a guy on the helmet during a game which many fans and parents saw and forced the guy out. That's the type of thing that I though Mangino was bing forced out by.

The finger poke to Arist Wright was the straw that broke the camel's back with the team. There's another incident where he told a black player that did something he didn't like to go back to streets like your brother. There's numerous stories involving his conduct towards campus staff that was abusive, especially campus security. He was also ejected from his son's football game for berating the the refs.

There's a reason why other schools weren't calling even after the Orange Bowl and why it took him so long to get another coaching job and why he couldn't last in those jobs either.

There were definitely politics involved as Mangino and Perkins absolutely hated each other and Perkins actually wanted to fire Mangino after the 2006 season where KU lost 4 games late and could've easily been 10-2 that season, but was eventually talked into giving Mangino one more season and Mangino delivered the Orange Bowl season.

Mangino was just an asshole.

That's your opinion - -and your entitled - - there are assholes every where- -then you have perfect assholes right ?- -oh he POKED oh hell no - -don't be poking my baby - - , and heberated the refs - -wow there is a new one - -berate the official. - Have you seen Coach Self eve be-rate a ref ? -surely not. Mangino sticking up for his son's team thiking bad calls which probably was just like Coach Self sticks up for his guys when he thinks they are getting screwed over.

You know funny the multiple times I talke with Mangino seemed like he was just fine, not abusive with me, didn't be rate me - -hmmm imagine that , he must of been having an off night that night that asshole

you point out him regretting his son's game - -what do you expect him to say. I was a Mangino fan and still am. always will be, kinda funny too, then we can always bring up how people were on Mangino about his weight, how he was so big brunt of all kinds of ridicule.

Would I have like to see him lose for his health - - Dam Straight, anyone ever think maybe he had tried - - quite possible he had an over active thyroid - skum bags always throwing shots , jokes about his weight - - -that's his decision, if he was happy with himself the way he was - -then so be it- -it's his body and like I always said - -his weight had NOTING to do with the way the guy could -- but I got the perfect theory as to why he was overweight - -probably cause he was such a asshole as we have been told

That's fine to be a fan, but to be blind to his actions because you had a few interactions that don't match up with numerous stories out there is just refusing to take the rose colored glasses off amd realizing that Mangino was not a popular person within a lot of the KU community that had daily interactions with him.

Let me ask you something, do you ever regret your behavior in a situation where you know you did nothing wrong, or do you regret it in situations where know you were in the wrong? Mangino regretting his actions is him knowing he went too far, bit he apparently didn't care enough to actually change and grow from that situation based on the numerous stories about him during his 7 years at KU.

OK. you just go ahead a b a hater everybody is entitled- -and your entitled.

@jayballer67 If kids have to learn how to accept being manhandled by coaches, perhaps it is reasonable to expect the older and more experienced coaches to learn how to accept mistakes and dumb plays without taking their anger out by manhandling players.

I backed Mangino 10000 % when it happened & I back him 10000 % now - - -no room for some classless act trying to show up another player or team. - you made a great play great, you wanna celebrate with your team mates great , BUT to try and show up another kid -screw that no room or that crap period an Mangino addressed it-- if it played out again I'd be backing him 10000 % again. kid has to learn from the Coach cause he had that spoon - -baby all his life, if a rough world out heee got to be sttrong enough to accept things and if you can't this world is gonna eat you alive. If a Coach hs to do that then so be it

I couldn't agree more, the guy could Coach, but was a guy that wouldn't put up with certain things. - -I remember when a player ran a kickoff or interception back for a TD but then show boated or like that Mangi grabbed the kid and told him what for -people all upset about that. - -These kids had a golden spoon in their mouths for their life, don't you dare touch my baby is the thought process of some of these kids. - -Football is a physical game in the 1st place and if a player can't stand up to a little discipline - then they shouldn't be in the game. - - Mangino was a good Coach.

@jayballer67 No, @TYOHawk made his comment about KU's potential backcourt in 2024-25 including Bethea, Harris, Jackson, and Morris and I replied don't be surprised is Jackson isn't in that group because he is a projected to be a 1st round pick in the 2024 NBA Draft by a lot of projection sites.

That doesn't mean he won't play at KU this upcoming season. Most projection sites have him in the back half of the 1st round which means Jackson does have work to do this season to validate that spot. It doesn't mean Jackson will for sure be OAD, but it does mean he's on the NBA's radar and will be one of the primary reasons NBA scouts are coming to KU games this season.

Ya , that's right . I forgot about this season him being here. for some reason I was thinking it was 24 he was coming in. - To early in the morning I guess

A lot of praise for the program…

STAY AWAY CALIPARI

Calipari doesn't know ball, we are blessed.

Bethea, Dajuan, Elmarko or Arterio backcourt will bring me joy man.

Don't be shocked if Elmarko isn't here next season.

you trying to say you don't think Elmarko will be here in 24 ?

Based on 2024 mock drafts, there's a decent chance Elmarko isn't at KU next season.

so skipping College completely. That would suck

UConn just fought the AAC pretty hard to leave and go back to the Big East and make their football program independent to help cut down on travel for its athletic programs. Their uncompetitive football program was a driving force in the conversation along with getting their basketball program back into a power conference.

I also can't see Big 12 presidents and AD'S being on board with UConn football joining because that is an albatross of a program and will devalue the conferences TV rights.

If Yormark wants to bring UConn in as basketball only, I think most Big 12 schools could be talked into that. The issue there would be UConn's other athletic programs because I doubt the Big East would house all of UConn's olympic sports. If UConn were to join the B12, their closest conference opponent would be over 500 miles away which is a bigger deal on the East Coast, especially in the Northeast, compared Midwest because everything is much more compact in that region.

Yormark may want UConn, but I just don't see that working out in the end. I think he'd be better off focusing on trying to convince Arizona St. and Utah to follow Arizona and Colorado. Or work on trying to get a couple of disgruntled ACC programs out of their GoR to get to 16 and have some partner schools for UCF since UCF is about 900 miles from any other B12 school.

Utah , is 10000 % against joining the Big 12, looking down their nose at us thinking we are below their level, Arizona State is not crazy about joining the Big 12 still believing the Pac is going to survive and does not really want the Big 12.

Again Yormork looking to the East and also trying to work on teams to help travel with Wv & UCF. -- there is talk that the ultimate goal in this is adding U Conn and then s you say seeing what happens with the ACC and picking up like 2 teams from there.

One way or another doesn't mean a rats ass to me all i know there WILL be some kind of expansion for the Big 12 in the near future, just WAY to much smoke for nothin to come from this. Only thing to do is see how it shakes out when the dust settles. - I myself tend to believe it will end up being the most obvious ones that's being mentioned very consistently, Arizona & Colorado , both Schools pretty fed up and frustrated waiting on a media rights Now hearing that EVEN APPLE is not that secure, not even close. Talking like it could be Labor day before anything is possibly agreed upon,

Even when they do reach some kind of agreement with the companies that do not want any part of this or what have you, the final amount will not be close enough to keep schools in the conference as it is being projected the number will be from anywhere from 17 million to 22 million , that's not going to cut it with these schools. - -the Pac 12 is history just a matter of time.

For me, adding U Conn is no problem definitely bring value to the Big 12 in Basketball which is another thing our commissioner is trying to do - -separate the basketball away from football 100 % having two totally seperate media rights, U Con FOR SURE adds value in Basketball if that's the case winning 5 National titles in men and then don't have to say one single word about their Ladies program. - Like they say ESPN would love to have U Conn in the big twelve with them being right there in Bristol - Be a huge get as far as Media Value because of the New York Media Market hard to look the other way on that - -we shall see

Article from Dennis Dodds. , saying that there will be significant push for U Conn into Big 12. Yormork wantin Media market, which U Conn brings ( New York City " media. - be another team for West Virginia and UCF on the Eastern front -about three hour flight from Bristol to UCF.

Yormork will have to get this past Presidents , not sure which way it will go article says - -Terrible football team although that's changing - -New Coach Mora gets them to bowl game his 1st year there. - -Travel issues Yormork going to have to deal with.

Yet good recruiting areas HUGE Media Market , and on the Basketball front - -Men and Womens at the top - - lots of mixed reaction pro and con in the comments. Sounds like now looking at Arizona - Colorado , & U Conn

KU 2023/24 Roster break down • Jul 09, 2023 01:43 AM

well found some things 1st : KU has 118 players listed on their 23/24 roster , One thing I found that we do not list a single True Soph, Zero - - - -the staff has really used the redshirt on this class, KU has 36 , red shirt Soph's . - Which in reality is really a good thing this group is going into their 3rd yr of ball, getting that extra year of experience, extra year to adjust their bodies/weight/strength. just found interesting NOT ONE TRUE SOPH listed 3rd-we have 22 JRS . ----8 redshirt JR'S - - -6 SR'S, & - -13 - -red shirt Seniors.

Another thing this tells me that even AFTER the 23/24 Season , we still are only losing 19 SR'S - -that's not extremely high it also tells me we are STILL young , and yet have experience wise. The staff is doing great with the red shirt program, love the way these guys are shaping up - - ROCK CHALK

Sanders and the Buffaloes • Jul 09, 2023 01:01 AM

I don't think he wll do at Colorado at he did for sur at Jackson St. - Colorado wasn't that far off like us - -they have been a sad program for years now--I think if he wins 4 he has to feel blessed., I also think his recruiting tactics will jump up somewhere along the line before to long and bite him right square in the ass

@dylans I mean if the goal is to keep expectations low so you aren't disappointed, this is certainly the best approach. I just don't see a team returning this many starters on both sides of the ball regressing that badly.

I agree with you. not many will take this but I'm going more on the optimistic side - - I think these guys are going to surprise people again. I know some here say we not sneaking up on anybody this yr, that's fine. I think believe it or not I think our secondary will show marked improvement with the experience from last year and D-Line will be better, I just feel w got 7 wins in us - -we shall see but 3-5 wins? - - no way
