Self was always a good recruiter. Bennett has done what he's done with far worse players than Self did on his climb. I'd expect Bennett to absolutely dominate with better players.

So , Ok now we know . We have once again witnessed 1st hand just how idiotic the NCAA is , how they can make themselves look like giant Ass - -I've read so many comments from other Coach's heard these guys that the NCAA just went WAY overboard with Silvio , for me to think - -I just can't get a grip on how the NCAA can hold Silvio responsible for a 3rd parties actions with Silvio himself having any knowledge of what this piss ant is doing - makes NO SENSE to me. Yet with having said that - they ( NCAA ) has done it which in turn brings me to the present.
Now KU has said that Silvio will continue to be with the team - - practice with the team - - -will retain full scholarship benefits - --( which I applaud KU for this ) he is family/blood your there for him - -that's great. - -Also Silvio will still be able to travel with the team and sit with the team at away games through KU'S request of waivers - -I understand all that - and appreciate all . HOWEVER
Guys let me ask you. How many of us as KU fans , yes they are appealing this - I got that - -but YOU as a KU fan how many here really honestly and fully believe anything different will come from this? -- I don't sorry to say , but I just don't . Feel bad for Marcus but with the line up we put on the floor tonight at least opposition couldn't double nearly as easily , having to guard all 5 spots. - -Oachi is going to be a stud - -and we were redshirting him - Only thing I just hope gets better , when Dave is in seems like he always wants his motor to go 50 in a 20 mph zone - -Oachi's defense isn't that far away for Marcus - -which is really good - -maybe this might be the way we need to run - -and bring Marcus off the Bench. - -I think that the NCAA pissed some players off - -looked pretty salty against the # 1 team leading the Nation in defense. I could very easily see this happening. - -There comes a time when a guy says enough is enough. - -Bill MAY just be fed up with all this NCAA bullshit. - -The recruiting process of this job can be very hard - - tiring - - and Bill has mentioned in the past about the NBA.
He really doesn't have anything else he needs to accomplish at the College level. - - He has a streak for most consecutive championships that will NEVER be broken in this day and age - -He has an NCAA championship - - -He is a College Hall of Fame Coach , nothing really left for him to accomplish at the College level. - - - -he was able to be able to have his son be with him through College -Coach him
With all the bullshit the NCAA THIS just might be the time - -With Popovich retiring sooner then later - -this is the ONE NBA job I could very easily see him leaving for and get his feet into the NBA with the Connections he has with the Spurs. - -He wouldn't have the stress of having to recruit -being away from family as much - -with this NCAA mess/ the FBI thing - - -the struggles the team has had - -THIS could be the year.
I just can't really obsorb - - -get it to sink in how the NCAA says the student athlete is responsible for the 3rd party if involved whether he knows anything about what's going on or not. - - How in the fricking hell can you hold him responsible when he knows nothing about what the 3rd parties shadiness is doing? It sounds like their enforcement standard begins with "your NCAA career is over" and can be whittled on down to a lesser suspension, which it certainly should have been given the facts involved with only the KU part of the cash flow. I think they are punishing Silvio and sending a clear message to his guardian that you took money from TWO institutions or people with ties to the schools in some fashion. No bueno.
I have to agree on some of this - -I really don't think Ku is withholding any info - -just wouldn't make sense for them to immediately appeal and be holding back info - -would REALLY make them look bad to the fans to do that - especially when they are coming out and saying they are appealing and feeling that Silvio got basically screwed
