Texas is a joke, why we let a team that blows in every sport but volleyball run our conference idk. Smh

@stoptheflop @stoptheflop wish you guys were going next week we could've met up.

Celtics worked out TomRob, need big • Sep 01, 2017 03:01 PM

I really think Trob could be a solid player if someone would give him a legit shot at it. One thing I've always thought, is that someone never gave the some of the best a shot. Hell Jordan didn't make his high school team til a junior. Keep working Trob!

Are our colors starting to return? • Sep 01, 2017 02:14 PM

The United States of America has been all but united the past few years. Years prior to that I'd say our colors were red, white and blue. A few weeks ago our colors were white, black and yellow. They were those colors because of hate. We've seen many riots for various reasons, that have lead to cities being burned to the ground, police officers murdered and people ran over with cars. On the news the last week or so since hurricane Harvey hit I've seen hope. Hope, that maybe the world that I brought my son in to may just make it after all. People of all different shapes, sizes, races and religions helping each other out in their time of need, not worried about who they voted for last November. We must learn to move forward from this in several ways, let's not go back to hating. Let's go back to being United.... all the time.

@Texas-Hawk-10 Never count your chickens before that hatch for sure but at least Texas State is a FBS club. Rhode Island is really the Kansas of FCS if you look at their last few years records and coaching changes. We should be focused on SEMO and honestly LY we let Ohio get up 22 to 0 in the first because I think we thought they were push over, we were the better team for 3 quarters but 2 muffed punts by Quv doomed us and lead to 10 easy Ohio points when we had the mo. I'll have my usual breakdown for the CMU game next week.

Prediction time • Sep 01, 2017 03:03 AM

Wow just watched the CMU vs Rhode Island game, we play CMU next week and RIU is the team that has won 3 games in 3 years that we spanked last year. CMU needed 3 OTs, a missed 33 field goal and 6 interceptions ( yes 6!) thrown by RIU to escape 30-27.

Prediction time • Sep 01, 2017 02:20 AM

@Texas-Hawk-10 @jayballer54 @Kcmatt7 @stoptheflop and anyone else lets pick the b12 games every week and get a little contest going here.

Charities to donate to in Houston. • Sep 01, 2017 01:25 AM

Walmart has announced that for the next week any $1 donated at their stores to the Red Cross they will not only match it but add another $1 to the hurricane relief.

Another reason to hate ESPN • Sep 01, 2017 01:21 AM

That sucks I would've watch it. I honestly like most of them but I'd have to agree that a high number of the films are east coast. Glad we got our for sure, I honestly think they should give Snyder from KSU one.

Prediction time • Sep 01, 2017 12:11 AM

@Texas-Hawk-10 Eastern Washington is good and beat Washington state a year ago but I hope for the conference sake tech can win. Okie state is already up 21 with 4 minutes left in the first quarter. Maybe it is Okie states year again, I just don't like Gundy. If you take away the 2011 b12 title team, they are very average, they've only managed to beat OU 3 times in the last 15 years and being double digit favorites 5 times last year they covered a single time.

Prediction time • Aug 31, 2017 10:55 PM

@Texas-Hawk-10 UNI did beat ISU last year but that's why I picked ISU this year. Tech won't be good and Kliff is likely gone but I have this as one of their 3 wins.

@Kcmatt7 we watched all but season 7 in about a 4 month period lol. I got a 2 year old getting able to watch anything before late at night without being interrupted is rare.

Prediction time • Aug 31, 2017 06:36 PM

It's here folks, the 2017 football season. Our Jayhawks open up Saturday in Lawrence vs SEMO. A team that we beat in 2014, 34 to 28 to open the season. The redhawks are coming off of a 3 win season and lost a high number of starters from that team. I don't look for this years contest to be anywhere near that competitive. All signs are that Bender will be the starter at QB, that being said I'm picking Kansas 59-10, Bender throws for 300 plus yards and the offense rolls with an easy win to celebrate the orange bowl team.
The rest of the B12:

Ok state 45
Tulsa 17

Texas 31
Maryland 13

UTEP 10
OU 48

EWU 20
TT 55

UCA 9
KSU 31

JKST 13
TCU 42

UNI 17
ISU 20

WVU 27
Virginia Tech 20

@mayjay haha my wife is obsessed with Game of Thrones! I used really like as well it but the last two seasons kinda let me down.

@justanotherfan yep them folks crack me up, same with the ones with all guns worried about the zombie apocalypse. They've got more free time than me. Lol

@mayjay @justanotherfan I was just putting a quote I heard but couldn't remember who from lol. Guess I could put quotations and unknown.

I'm all for turning in our arms to the government and trusting them to protect us. Hell it worked out so well for the American Indians and Jews of Germany.

NO WAY WE LOSE 6 • Aug 31, 2017 03:00 AM

2018-2019 will be major rebuilding, the biggest since 09 when we replaced all 5 guys. Obviously we lose Svi and DG to graduation. Newman is all but a lock to go, Doke is gone no question IMO and I would say Preston has a good chance to go. I think we will return only 2 guys that see the court more than a few minutes a game with Vick and Lightfoot.

White flag event • Aug 30, 2017 02:31 AM

@globaljaybird the article I read said he was pasted out drunk not just two beers drunk. I know a guy that got a DUI after having two beers in a hour that's bigger than me. I'm 6'2 215 and it takes 8 unless I chug them to feel anything.

Past gf problem • Aug 30, 2017 02:28 AM

It's definitely a big loss IMO going forward. With only 3 scholarship players in the front court Bragg would've been a good player to have this season. I personally think he will do good sitting out a year and changing his scenery. I think he has a decent chance of playing in the NBA.

Crazy, I believe Houston is the 4th most populous city in the country. Continued prayers to Texas and Louisiana.

5 keys to an improved football season • Aug 29, 2017 09:00 PM

@JayHawkFanToo Well, that's my rating but one of our defensive ends was a first team all big 12 last year and preseason POY.

Depth chart released • Aug 29, 2017 03:39 PM

@JayHawkFanToo seems maybe a little high, but usually there is a few idk that many teams get thru fall camp unscathed.

Depth chart released • Aug 29, 2017 02:54 AM

A couple of injuries coach released to night. Octavius Matthews, thought to compete for the starting RB job. The junior transfer has a career ending heart condition that his mother passed away earlier this year, prayers for this young man. Beaty says he will be a part of the program going forward. Kenyon Tabor a freshman TE thought to be Ben Johnsons back up and see playing time is out for the year. Cam Durley, sophomore offensive lineman also out for the year. Team captain and senior RB Denzel Evans out for the season as well, all with undisclosed injuries. Biggest surprise to me looking at the depth chart is Charlot battling to be on the 2 deep and Kerr Johnson getting on first team. Hopefully that points to how great our WR corps is.

5 keys to an improved football season • Aug 28, 2017 09:50 PM
  1. Average scoring improvement. Last year Kansas was up 7 points from 2015 @ 20.3 ppg but that still was 120th in the land. A similar improvement seems likely returning a core group of offensive players and would most likely give them a top 75 scoring offense rating, that hasn't happened since Mangino was here.
  2. Cut down on turnovers. KU had 36 turnovers last year which again put them in the bottom 10 of the country. 14 fumbles and 22 ints just can't happen again if the Jayhawks hope to improve upon last years 2 win season.
  3. Success running the ball. Kansas had the worst rushing attack in the big 12 and 116th in the country last year. In tight games like last seasons TCU and ISU contests it would've been nice to run the clock. Once again returning 4 of 5 offensive linemen should be a key factor in teams having to respect the run this fall.
  4. Stopping the run. Kansas has one of if not the best defensive lines in the conference and had success against the air attack ranking 54th in passing defense a year ago. The rushing defense was another story, giving up big chunks at time and ranking 115th nationally. The linebackers must be able to sniff out and stop the run especially with Armstrong more than likely getting double teams.
  5. Special teams improvement . Kansas lost to TCU bye a single point a year ago after missing 4 Fgs, 3 of which were very makeable. The kicking game has to resemble that of a D1 school for the first time in ages. Punting wasn't consistent at all ether and Kansas ranked last in punt return yards in all of FBS. Consistently starting deep in our territory and shanking punts to give prime field position to others doesn't work.
Who starts for Kansas at QB • Aug 28, 2017 09:28 PM

@Kcmatt7 @Texas-Hawk-10 why not both? Get more first downs and less turnovers, those kinda go hand in hand anyways

Who starts for Kansas at QB • Aug 28, 2017 07:36 PM

@Kcmatt7 one would think we could improve from being dead last in that category returning just about everyone as we do. Most players get better with experience.

Who starts for Kansas at QB • Aug 28, 2017 01:09 AM

@Kcmatt7 It helps to have turnovers down the field for sure but we have to cut down on them, mark these words if we turn the ball over 35 plus times again we will only win 1 or 2 games max. We beat TCU, ISU and maybe even Ohio with an average teams turnover ratio. I also would call what we run a tunnel screen because of the WR moves toward the QB and its slow developing but ether way running it hundreds of times was a big mistake that lead to several wasted plays and INTs.

Opinions needed • Aug 27, 2017 10:04 PM

My computer has currently been down for a few weeks so thats why I haven't been able to make any progress on rolling out this.

Is this Beaty's defining season? • Aug 26, 2017 05:00 PM

I think 3 wins is the minimum to keep the seat from getting a little heat that Beaty is on. I personally will be disappointed with less than 4 wins, one of which is a road win. I honestly think we have a chance to go bowling. I know, I'm crazy but why couldn't we win 5 of our first 6 games? SEMO shouldn't be a contest, CMU or Ohio won't be easy but we have more returnees and better athletes, no excuses to lose those games IMO. West Virginia will be tough to win at home but Tech should be a 50-50 game if not a 60-40 game at home with us having an actual D1 offense. Tech's defense has been among the worst in FBS the past few years, they ranked last of 128 schools in multiple categories and not better than 116th in any. On the road to ISU next, where we were the better team for 3 and a half quarters last year before the defense ran outta gas and some silly turnovers cost us but they return very few bodies up front on both sides this year, once again no reason not to compete. That's our first 6 games, now I'm only predicting a 4 win season but see no reason why we couldn't get 5 of these first 6. The final 6 it gets a lot tougher to find wins but we got a TCU team that sleeps on us on the road and a wildcat team that returns less than we do after a 2 touchdown loss in Manhattan last year calling the same 6 plays over and over.

Who starts for Kansas at QB • Aug 26, 2017 04:23 PM

@Kcmatt7 I agree about taking more down field risk but not about the turnovers. We are ready had the worst turnover margin in the country and ranked in the bottom 5 with 36 turnovers total. If we turn the ball over even more this year, we likely win a single game over SEMO. Turnovers lost us 3 games last year. Opening up the play book and not running the same 6 plays should help not hurt the turnover battle for sure. Please no more 20 tunnel screens a game.

@Texas-Hawk-10 very true

Who starts for Kansas at QB • Aug 23, 2017 08:27 PM

Here we are just over a week away from the 2017 football campaign starting for Kansas. A season I believe to have more anticipation than we have seen in a good 6 or 7 years. We all know the numerous number QBs Kansas has seen since Todd Ressing started 3 straight years at the position ending in 2009. This year's candidates are red shirt Freshman Carter Stanley who lead the Jayhawk to a victory against Texas and kept kansas in games while starting the final 3 games of last year. Peyton Bender the former WSU and Mike Leech player that turned to junior college after losing the starting job, guy has a quick release and knows the air raid well. I'm hoping new offensive coordinator Doug Meacham has it figured out before Sept 2 gets here. There is an old saying in football "If you have 2 quarterbacks you have no quarterbacks", I think last years shenanigans of switching series made me believe in this a little more. I think getting a clear cut #1 and letting him play for several games thru his struggles while getting first team reps all week to get timing down with his receivers is important. I honestly think the longer this goes the more I'm leaning towards Carter Stanley. I think Meacham likes QBs that can hurt the defense with both their arms and feet. We need a guy that can extend plays and make throws while on the run. Bender may have the quickest release and strongest arm but if he can't step up against rushers it maybe all for nothing. Who you got??

Thoughts On SE Mis St • Aug 23, 2017 06:28 PM

I'll have to work the SEMO weekend, but am currently working to go to CMU game the following. I'm as excited as I've been since 09. But we still have a long ways to go, I want the longest road streak ended and 4 wins, that would be a good step IMO.

Indians vs Royals -- Game 1 • Aug 19, 2017 02:32 AM

@Crimsonorblue22 i work that weekend trying to find someone to watch our dogs to CMU game the following week.

Everytime I watch they play like crap, pitching has been a joke this year.

I got the feeling some saltiness here....

KU to celebrate the Orange Bowl team. • Aug 16, 2017 12:44 AM

The Kansas football team will celebrate the 2007 orange bowl championship team Saturday september 2 against SEMO, while adding standout defensive back/ wide receiver Aqib Taib and offensive lineman Anthony Collins to the ring of honor. Mark Mangino will be put in the hall of fame. I think this is s good move to ease the tension of that team. Supposedly Taib wasn't happy with how they treated his former coach any how here's the link http://www.kuathletics.com/news/2017/8/15/football-kansas-athletics-to-honor-2007-orange-bowl-team-aqib-talib-anthony-collins-and-mark-mangino-at-september-2-home-opener.aspx ↗

@mayjay yes my guess over a post with next to no info was wrong but show several of these answer to any mechanic and they'll get a good laugh. Go ask any small engine repair man if my advice was incorrect.

Bagley reclassifying • Aug 16, 2017 12:15 AM

Him picking Puke isn't shocking. Everyone had him as all but there already. Now becomes the interesting part of him being cleared to play this season. I would bet he plays because it's Puke. You hear about east coast guys getting waivers and cleared all the time but seldom east of the Mississippi.

Will Andrew Wiggins be a superstar? • Aug 14, 2017 07:01 PM

He has to shoot the ball much more consistently, rebound, play some defense and get some assists from time to time. On the other hand Harden is a super star that don't play any defense

This and that... • Aug 14, 2017 06:54 PM

The BPI also gave West Virginia a 80% chance last year to win the B12. I can't believe they still put it out, it's a complete joke.

The great Debate? • Aug 14, 2017 05:05 PM

@jayballer54 I opened up with my answer only Duke could've done the same. Do yhou really think the 2010 UNC team that finished tied for 9th in ACC with a record of 5-11 overall 20-17 was good enough to win the B12? KSU finished second in the B12 that year and finished the season with an top 5 ranking and elite 8. Absolutely no way UNC repeats our 13 straight and no way is the 9th place team in any conference gonna win the B12 no flipping way. As far as UK goes if you ain't good enough to make the dance you ain't good enough to win the B12 maybe UK could've made the dance in the B12 in 09 and 13 but I doubt it. Simply put the B12 is flat out better top to bottom than the SEC, that's why the B12 hasn't lost the B12/SEC challenge and gets more teams in the dance. As @justanotherfan said im not sure we go on this run in the SEC, no way anyone wins the ACC 13 years running, but I think we could come close in the SEC probably run into trouble in 12 and 14. I'm just shocked anyone would have so little respect for the B12 and so much for the ACC, I'm mean the 9th place team from there winning the B12. You would think if the ACC was that strong they would have all final four teams every year hands down. The ACC does have the most FFs and NCs but they also get the most teams in and IMO get the deak stacked in their favor on numbers alone. If you get 10 or 11 teams in one or two are gonna have a favorable road.

The great Debate? • Aug 14, 2017 04:56 AM

I would say that Duke is the only other team that maybe could duplicate the current run KU is on. UK has missed the NCAA several times under Cal and Gillispie besides that the B12 is tougher than the SEC pretty much year after year, they've never won the SEC/B12 challenge. The SEC usually has 2 or 3 good teams and the rest are average at best. UNC also missed the NCAA tournament during a rebuilding year in 2010, that and KU has beaten them 3 times in the NCAAs during the streak (2008,12,13) so I think its a safe bet to say they couldn't do it. Duke on the other hand is debatable because they haven't missed the NCAAs or been seeded worse than 6th since our streak started. But they did have some rocky years in 07 when they finished with 4 straight loses bring their total to 11 for the year. The 2016 blue devils made the sweet 16 but also lost 11 games once again that year, KU has a single double digit loss team in 2014 also Duke has 3 first round NCAA exits to KU's 2. So I'd say Duke is debatable but not the other 2. The ACC is the best conference overall most years but some year like last IMO where they had a single after the first weekend in UNC, who once again IMO got every call a guy could buy in tight games vs Arkansas, UK and Oregon. I honestly after last year am wondering if CFB and CBB aren't rigged same team that lost the year before came on to win it and some silly silly coaching on the other side. I think Bill Self and Kansas are hands down the regular season duo in the land, our consistency make us great but we have to transfer it to the post season to be the greatest.

KU TO BIG TEN??????? • Aug 10, 2017 12:19 AM

I believe realignment is the one of the driving factors behind the face lift to Memorial Stadium and the deep buy in to KU football. The B12 started putting the nails in it own coffin bye not expanding when they had the chance. I still say adding Louisville and Cincinnati when we had the chance was the best chance of survival. Honestly if the B10 picks up KU, KSU, ISU and WVU they may have the best basketball league in the land. Ether way I'm not betting on being in this conference in 5 years. Anyone else think its stupid to have a conference title game in football with a round robin schedule and no divisions?
