@FarmerJayhawk I’ve won many a games leaving guys wide open who know they are the fourth or fifth best option. Mentally they know they aren’t supposed to be “the guy” scoring their job is to defend and rebound

Washington state let legerald be wide open at the free throw line at sprint center. He scored over 30 but we got upset

Best way to win is make the guys who’s job isn’t to lead in scoring to be wide open. Let him shoot 10-15 times

Not your job to read my every posts and vice versa but pretty sure it has been discussed here about going back to hi lo or 2 bigs.

I’ve commented Self has grown tremendously because on a podcast he said he would never go back to that again. He has 1 true big and 4 guards now. Get the best players on the floor and play to their strengths. 1 Of the guards needs to be a true pg (why he loves Juan) and 1 of the guards needs to fit that 4 spot (Josh Jackson, Jalen Wilson).

Bill is best in the game I know I’ve said that and that this 6-10 year window he’s entering as the best coach while others retired is where he can cement his already awesome coaching legacy.

I will always gripe about Bill’s lineups. He will play less athletic and worse players who run his stuff versus guys who forget some of his stuff and aren’t perfect.

A coach should know it’s more jimmy’s and joe’s than X’s and O’s. The X’s and O’s matter but without “dudes” we won’t win.

@BShark Yeah Self will have other options no doubt just that one would have been pretty sweet. He plays D similar to Kev

Great point on finding this place means diehard KU fans. I could go to 247 and join their hammering of Juan and Gradey or Wilson but I read that and get annoyed (oh the irony).

Neenyo was wrong on Braun and Ochai last year. He had some points this year when Gradey was hot and Wilson not kicking it across when driving the lane but than Gradey seemed to hit a wall and that theory I agreed with turned out wrong.

I wish we’d ran more ball screens for Gradey maybe off 2 instead of 1 but Wilson was our best player and the man which neenyo will never admit to.

Bill just did that with Pettiford and I thought he had Frank driving ability and turns out he regressed instead. Tough but until guys get to campus you don’t truly know.

Bshark and Farmer contribute to every single thread and discuss things back and forth. They call me out if I’m saying something they think is ludicrous but it doesn’t effect future posts on future topics to slant every single response from them towards me as “oh just cheer for someone else”, “oh we are going 0-30 next year right KU ballin”…..that response crap is childish and shows the maturity level of a 10 year old (not something farmer or bshark do).

I’m sure Jethro is some long time poster but go look through his posts. Board contribution sucks and he rarely actually talks basketball. He supposedly blocked me yet continues to jump on anything I say that isn’t “KU is the greatest program of all time”.

He sees when I say juan sucks but ignores when I say Juan was huge (see Arkansas game when Juan hit the 3 when we hadn’t scored in a long while to get us off 51).
Players get credit when they ball out. Players get discussed when they don’t. Some posters can’t grasp that and I’d estimate they are the type of parents “who’s kids never do any wrong”….the ones I can’t stand to coach as the kid is nice but the parents are crazy.

I don’t get too high on guys until they get to campus and we start getting the insider reports from farmers and bshark on what staff is seeing and thinking.

Selby was my guy came out hot then lost his spot to Brady and tyrel not sure why or how.

Check Diallo, Cliff Alexander heck even Oubre got here and didn’t start.

Point was tempering expectations but hopefully Elmarko is the best guard in the class.

I agree if we just had a halfway decent bench we’d been tough to beat. Udeh didn’t develop quick enough, Bob and Zach were just recruiting whiffs

Carr, Hunter and Rice - all can drive, shoot the 3 and defense

Look at FAU all 6-4/5 and under for their guards. Can all defend, get to the paint off the bounce and shoot.

Got 7-1 stiff and they are in the final four much like Baylor a few years back

4 smaller guards means less turnovers, more shots and playmaking. They attack the glass when the 7-1 guy doesn’t clean up and clearly not having 6-7-6-8 guys at the wings doesn’t matter

Watching this st Mary’s vs UConn makes me want to puke. We can’t beat either of those and ucla or zags….we can beat anyone but maybe Bama and houston in this tourney. If those two don’t win it…that’s gonna suck

This team had enough to win it all just couldn’t get it done. I feel bad for Jalen seeing that video of him walking off hurt bad…dude gave it his all and @nuleafjhawk Jalen cared so hope you aren’t referencing him

What hurt this team was Bill missing on bigs. Having Clemence in the program for a whole year and thinking he will start only to be completely awful especially athletically tells me they drastically whiffed on him even with seeing him in practice and limited minutes his frosh year

Check what Allen did in the tourney because it was 4 ppg. I vividly remember either the final 4 game or title game where he had double digits and stepped up (he’s a turd)

@FarmerJayhawk The Duke team I mentioned challenges that, Nova was the most talented between them and unc a few years back but yes, the talent isn’t just all freshman it’s a mix of guys

To answer this you gotta have both especially Self. He needs upper class man with some young studs. You need the best players whether they are freshman (see Brandon miller or Houston’s Walker) or through portal or whatever. Most 3-4 year guys are there for a reason and not the best players versus the 1 and domes but a team of 1 and dones doesn’t always winbthe title like @FarmerJayhawk said. Dukes with tyus Jones, jahlil okafor, Grayson Allen and Justise Winslow do prove that wrong.
