Getting dominated on the boards again
Soft T but Mitch has to watch it. Refs always call the second guy.
Expecting a big bounceback tonight. This team has too much pride to let the Frogs take two in a row from them.
Fans need to step up too. Been a bit too laidback lately.
Couldn't pull off the win. 70-60 Longhorns. KU headed in the wrong direction after losing their third straight.
One more at home against OU Saturday...yet another Top 10 team. Then the Big XII tourney where they'll be the 5 seed.
Back on the treadmill Thursday. RCJH

Greg Ostertag sighting in the crowd tonight. Oh year, and LaDanian Tomlinson.
Cometh the gauntlet. 3 games, 5 days.
Speaking of Towson, they just beat Delaware today to go 24-7. They tied for the conference title and have the #1 seed in the CAA tournament this weekend.
By the way, their turnaround echoes one they made almost a decade ago when they went from 1-31 to 18-13 in 2013, an all-time Division I record. Unfortunately they couldn't play in the postseason that year due to NCAA academic sanctions.
@justanotherfan Good point. I didn't go that deeply into the roster of each team on the list, but Towson does have a few seniors/grad students who got that extra year of eligibility. Lots of transfers too.
Well, here we are, the start of conference tournament week for the mid-majors. After looking thru the standings I'm surprised at the number of teams that have made huge turnarounds from last season.
The most notable example is Towson in the Colonial. From 4 and 14 last year to 23 and 7 this year (14 and 3 in conference play ) with a respectable KenPom ranking of #63.
Here are some other comeback teams with their records last season vs. this season, in order of ranking. (One caveat: Some of these schools had multiple games cancelled last year due to the coronavirus.)
Wyoming (Mountain West) - 14-11 to 23-5 (12-3 in conference play). (#46 KenPom)
Long Beach State (Big West) - 6-12 to 16-11 (10-3) . (#143)
Cal State Fullerton (Big West) - 6-10 to 17-9 (10-3). (#149)
Longwood (Big South) - 12-17 to 23-6 (15-1). (#158)
Troy (Sun Belt) - 12-16 to 19-10 (10-6). (#173)
Samford (Southern) - 6-13 to 20-10 (10-8). (#188)
Purdue-Fort Wayne (Horizon) - 6-14 to 20-10 (15-6) (#228)
Texas A&M Corpus Christi (Southland) - 5-19 to 19-10 (6-6). (#253)
And even though it's not exactly a mid-major, a shout out to Middle Tennessee of Conference USA. Picked to finish last in their division, they went from 5-18 to 22-7 (13-3 conference). (#97). Credit where credit is due.
Not impossible that KU could draw one of these teams in the first or even second round (if they survive their conference tourneys, of course).
At least we stay a 1 seed after that Zona loss
Not our night
Major mugging there
WELCOME BACK REMY
Kept it close today but just couldn't get over the hump. 85-77 Baylor.
Back home Wednesday for Senior Night vs. Texas.
We'll see how KU (women & men) fares today after ESPN Gameday hopped up the Baylor crowd this morning. Noticed that the latest women's Bracketology moved the Hawks up to an 8 seed despite the ISU loss. KU holding their own so far.
Was wondering how much Joel would see the ball once Harden got there. So far so good after tonight's debut.
Embiid with 34, Harden 27 (with 12 ASSISTS !) as Philly clobbers the T-Wolves.
First EB, now Nagy back with the Chiefs.
"Getting the band back together" or taking a step back? Haven't figured this one out yet. Any consensus buzz so far on KC sports talk radio ?
Tough night for the Hawks. ISU wins by 26.
Their guards shot the lights out from 3, especially in the 1st quarter. Meanwhile KU had trouble with layups early on and never really got going.
Winning streak ends at 7. Back at it next Saturday in Waco.
In the words of our long lost colleague Jaybate - no malice.
I know you've been a great supporter of the Jayhawk women. Just thought they deserved their own thread. Admittedly I followed them a lot more during my school days when Marian Washington was the coach, then later in the Bonnie Henrickson era. And I was a big time fan of Angela Aycock from her KU years to her pro career here in Seattle. (Last I heard she was a nun in Canada.) Not to mention Lynette Woodard of course.
I'm still amazed that Schneider is coaching after the poor record of the past few years. This looks like the breakthrough season though. Let's hope this is the start of a long-lasting turnaround. RCJH !
With the KU women's team having its best season in years, it's about time they had their own thread on this board.
Seeing their efforts mentioned in "Non-KU Games" comes across as a tad insulting (if unintentional, considering there wasn't a thread dedicated to them up to now).
After all, aren't they as much Jayhawks as the men's team?
Anyway, on to the game at hand tonight...
Iowa State is ranked ninth in the nation with a 22-4 record (11-3 in the Big XII). KU is 19-5 and 10-4 in conference. A win pretty much locks up a spot in the NCAA tourney and keeps them in the running for the conference title, with that men's/women's doubleheader at Baylor to follow next Saturday.
ISU is the first of four Top 20 teams KU has to face to close out the regular season. A tall order but not impossible, given their 7-game winning streak. They're on a roll...might as well keep it rolling !
Nite all ! Til Saturday...

Mitch better be careful on the celebratory gestures. Refs getting mighty touchy nowadays.
