Nothin' but a party y'all !
Or Oz reference
RIGGLE ! Much better than another Ox reference.
Just keep handing the ball off and get the hell out of the way, Jason.
Best Neal since Booty.
Okay I'm calling it...
WE'RE GOING BOWLING !
I want my Top 25 ranking back !
REAL DEAL
Sitting in a bar with KU, Washington State and Iowa State fans. All winning. Everybody's going apeshit !
MIGHTY CASEY HAS STRUCK...PAYDIRT !
Impressive. Can't believe how crappy the OSU defense looks though.
Now all we need to do is tighten up our own D on the edges.
Really looking forward to this one. Our local alumni group is having a watch party today. First time we've gotten together since the NCAA title game, and the first one for football in well over a decade.
LET'S DO THIS !
And to the uninformed, the score looks like we dominated for the whole game.
(Well, for 30 minutes anyway.)
Don't mind a five-point halftime lead. How we got there is another story.
Umm...wake up guys !

Two bigs. Man, hitting the way back machine if so.
Signing off so i can watch after work tonight without spoilers! (danged 5 p.m. starts for us west coasters)
Wayback machine is right. Echoes of the Ted Owens days when he ran a double-post offense with Danny Knight & Rick Suttle in the mid-'70s. Got us to a Final Four.

Thanks for passing along the game notes. Looking forward to the matchup with the Fighting Boschees !
Noticed In Quick Facts (pg. 3) that it says KU's first season was 1888-89...which is a pretty neat trick considering that Naismith didn't invent the game until 1891 !
A few observations...
This sounds like a win-win for both Gonzaga and the B12. Another national contender joins the conference, while the Zags get a raised national profile on TV. Just from a purely selfish point of view, I'd love to see KU play a game that's within driving distance for me, even if it's only once every two years.
The (nearly) coast-to-coast spread of the conference over four time zones now begs that it be split into Western and Eastern divisions, though your guess is as good as mine which teams go where.
Of course, then there's the question of whether they join for basketball only, or all sports. Sort of the reverse of Notre Dame in the ACC for everything but football. Basketball aside (admittedly a BIG aside), I can't imagine that players on Gonzaga's teams in non-revenue sports would be too enthusiastic about all the jet lag involved. (Have fun on those flights from Spokane to Orlando...or Cincinnati...or Morgantown.)
@AsadZ Apparently he'd been on J.J. and Sherman's radar for a while due to his success in Tampa Bay & Cleveland. Going to wait and see, but early national feedback seems to be positive.
The media reports talk about how well Quatraro did with "small market teams." Had to chuckle a bit about that...the Tampa-St. Pete market is now ranked Number 13 in the country, ahead of Detroit, Miami, the Twin Cities and St. Louis. (Seems like these national writers think a "small market" is someplace that isn't New York or L.A.)
With Stave Nash's departure Tuesday, Jacque Vaughn is back to being interim coach of the Nets.
He held a similar role in the COVID-shortened 2020 season after Kenny Atkinson was let go, then went back to being assistant coach (with a raise) after the Nets hired Nash.
All I can say is "good luck." This team that was supposed to be a title contender has crashed and burned spectacularly. Trying to win with the so-called Big Three of Durant, Simmons and Kyrie was always going to be a recipe for disaster due to the egos involved...and that doesn't even include Kyrie's bizarre off-court behavior.
To make things even worse, the buzz is that the Nets' next coach will be Ime Udoka, recently suspended as Celtics coach for what was called an "improper" relationship with a female Celtics staff member.
Meanwhile, once again Jacque, ever the good Company Man, won't get a realistic shot at the job full time.
If Jacque can do anything with this mess and even come close to turning things around, he needs to jump off the sinking ship and go to a team that doesn't take him for granted.
Paul Pogba was just ruled out of the WC for France. Can't come back from knee surgery in time. One of the veterans of the Belgium team, Lukaku, is also questionable after injuring his hamstring.
You've got to figure that the compressed schedules caused by moving the tournament to late fall are mostly to blame for the rash of injuries. Teams have to play twice a week (plus Champions & Europa League matches) just to fit all the games in. Even younger stars like Pogba are having trouble staying healthy. At least MLS-based players have a slight advantage in that area, since their regular season only had to be shifted by a few weeks.
I watched that Pulisic point-blank miss off the rebound. Ouch.
This is turning into a real mess for the USMNT. Other than Reyna (who's still on the comeback trail and only played as a sub this weekend), I don't know how many quality healthy bodies we'll even have for the World Cup. The ones we do have are proving to be mostly ineffective in league play...when they get minutes, that is.
McKennie's got a bad quad. De La Torre is out for a few weeks with a hamstring injury. Turner? Groin. Our other goalie, Steffen, is still recovering from a knee knock. Then there's Weah, Robinson and Musah.
This isn't a national team, it's a MASH unit.
Not sure how healthy he is, but at least Adams got minutes in that Leeds "upset" at Liverpool. (I almost hesitate to call it an upset, since the Reds seem to be making a habit out of losing to last-place teams this season.)
Wish it weren't so, but it's not looking good for the USA's "golden generation." At the very least, all this attrition is killing our depth as we get closer and closer to November 21st.
More injury problems for the USA squad with just over three weeks to go till the World Cup. Goalie Matt Turner was kept out of Arsenal's Europa League game today with groin "discomfort."
And Tyler Adams may not make the lineup again for Leeds this weekend, after missing last Sunday's game with Fulham. Bad timing all around.
At least Gio Reyna is on the comeback trial after his latest injury (knock on wood). He scored for Dortmund last weekend against Stuttgart.
Nice to see him step up tonight for the Zion-less, Ingram-less Pelicans. They beat the Mavs in a close one, despite 37 by Doncic.
DG played 27 minutes (including all of the 4th quarter) and had 14 points, with a couple of key baskets down the stretch. (Would've been less of a nail-biter if he hadn't missed two free throws late.) Next up: Phoenix, who blew out the Warriors tonight after Klay got his first career ejection.

Pulisic amazingly got a start today in UCL!
He got an assist on the winning goal too !
Hope this means more playing time for him, though I'm not too optimistic based on past history. Graham Potter may still see him as one of "Tuchel's guys."
Old Evil Empire, meet the New Evil Empire. Yanks didn't put up much of a fight.
Even with a KU guy managing the Phillies, I can't see them winning the WS. Houston pitching too good, especially the bullpen.
Best case scenario, they might be able to take one or two games and keep the Astros from a clean sweep of the playoffs.
Both wishes granted. Chiefs beat Niners, Seahawks over Chargers. Thank you, you're welcome.
Salvaged the weekend.
DOOR SLAMMER
Hat trick for Mecole !
Time for the Chiefs and Seahawks to do each other a solid, with wins today.
Was going to skip the early games today....looked mostly like a bunch of "meh" teams playing and/or potential blowouts.
Still, a couple of surprises and close finishes. Brady & the Bucs lose again, to Carolina no less, right after the Panthers trade away their best offensive player. And Rodgers & the Packers lose to Washington. Can't remember the last time both QBs lost two games in a row during the same weeks. NFC East looking pretty awesome.
Interesting weekend in the Premier League. Really impressed by Eddie Howe's Newcastle side. Today they went into London and took down Tottenham (with help from a couple of goalie mistakes). The win moved them into the top four ahead of Chelsea and Man United, who played to a draw.
Meawhile, Jesse Marsch's hot seat as manager of Leeds just got hotter. They lost again, this time at home to Fulham.
And I still can't figure Liverpool out. A week after beating defending champs Manchester City, they lose to last-place Nottingham Forest. Even with two-thirds of the season to go, it's looking like the best chance they have for a trophy is the FA Cup, or maybe the Champions League.

My God, what a trainwreck of a half. And it could've been a lot worse.
Job Number One for the coaching staff: Recruit some damn guys who know how to play defense. A new DC wouldn't hurt either.
Switching to Chelsea-Manchester United for a while. At least that game's competitive.
Donβt suppose Pulisic got the start for Chelsea?
Wow, I switch away for a bit and KU makes a game out of it !
Oh yeah...no, Pulisic didn't start, he subbed in. Great finish, though. Chelsea got a late PK goal, then Man United got the equalizer in stoppage time.
Let's go Hawks ! Need more stops !

We get the wind in the second quarter.
Lucky to get three points out of that drive.
Three mistakes already costing us. Fumble, snafu on the snap, and a penalty. Not an auspicious start.
Thanks for the heads-up. I get Decades on my system.
BTW, the host of Through The Decades is KU's own Bill Kurtis !
Can't expect us to keep coming from behind. May be too much of a task for Bean & company.
Defense ? What Defense ? Ole !
Another chance to become bowl eligible.
Gusty winds already causing problems on that 3-and-out punt.
Stayed up late to watch some of the draw for next year's Women's World Cup in Australia & New Zealand.
USWNT is in the same group with The Netherlands, who they beat for the title in 2019.
The US opens against Vietnam. The final spot in the group goes to the winner of a playoff among Cameroon, Thailand and Portugal.
Didn't realize until today that Phillies' manager Rob Thomson played at KU in the '80s. Another catcher-turned-manager.

Don't really have a rooting interest in any of the four clubs left. Phillies & Astros look like the hot teams right now, but I'm curious about San Diego, especially with Soto on the roster.
Can't imagine that Cleveland would've matched up too well against Houston if they'd got past NY. They're a young team though...look for them to contend for the next few years.
Good traditional matchup in the tonight's early game. Embiid & the Sixers vs. the Celtics.
And in the nightcap, Wiggins and the Dubs get their rings. Then they take the court against LeBron and a bunch of whozits.
