I really like KU basketball in August.

Puerto Rico! • Aug 05, 2023 09:42 PM

Hunter should be rebounding much better. He seems to be treating this like a pickup game.

Puerto Rico! • Aug 05, 2023 09:29 PM

I miss the camera being on the other side of the court so we can see the coaches and benches.

Would be cool if Hunter could box out his man.

Would be cool if Hunter did anything in the paint like a center

Puerto Rico! • Aug 05, 2023 09:16 PM

Hunter should be doing much more in the paint due to his size advantage.

Puerto Rico! • Aug 05, 2023 08:59 PM

I like that the opponent has a couple of footers to challenge Hunter.

Puerto Rico! • Aug 05, 2023 08:43 PM

I was impressed with the arena in PR. But, it was really different to watch the game from the single camera; especially one positioned so low there was a constant stream of people passing in front of it. Still I'm grateful for the stream and I'm looking forward to the next game.

The Big 12 conference • Aug 05, 2023 01:55 PM

What is the most likely division of teams now? East/West or North/South divisions? Where will KU be? I assume the Big12 will be divided into two divisions, most likely East/West. So, Pac12 teams, plus Tex Tech, TCU and KState in the West. Or OSU in the West so KState and KU are in the same division? What about 3 divisions? I vividly remember this exact same time of year, several years ago when it looked like the Big12 was going to fold and the discussion was KU to the Mountain West. I'm so glad the Big12 has survived. Like I said earlier I liked some things I saw today, and yet I know w all here are intelligent enough to know that what we seen in competition today is not EVEN CLOSE to what we will see Saturday.

Just like we have to keep today in perspective - -w also need to keep Saturday in perspective . I think we all know or should know we could very easily get taken to the wood shed Saturday with those group of guys we gonna be playing

Thought I would check out the Kentucky boars to see any comments and of course , jut like you can take it to the bank -- all kinds of comments such as : - we are slower, we are not as athletic etc , etc, now either I was watching a different game I must of been seeing cause the guys I saw was faster and more athletic -I dunno maybe just me lol.
They are already starting in about how they gonna beat our ass in November - - and maybe they will who knows -- but ummmm probably not - -GOD I love UK fans

I too took a minute to check out Rupp Rafters. KU had a couple of really strong defenders on the site, which I thought was very interesting. Usually, the moderators block KU posters on the site.

Puerto Rico! • Aug 03, 2023 04:49 PM

Well that was really fun. I'm still trying to identify our new players.

Puerto Rico! • Aug 03, 2023 04:43 PM

The ball reminds me of the pretzel buns my wife uses for sandwiches.

Puerto Rico! • Jul 30, 2023 03:17 PM

I've lost most if not all my enthusiasm for the PR trip. It seems like more of a team vacation or team bonding action, than an opportunity to get a solid jump start on the season. Now, I read somewhere that other college teams are doing the same thing and will also be there. I didn't follow the tournament that Kentucky played in, but that seemed more like the jump start I was hoping for our guys.

TBT • Jul 24, 2023 01:50 PM

Way too much hype over Mass St. I'm embarrassed by the lack of players, especially guards. I don't blame our former players for not playing; I blame whomever reported this as a number 1 seed and destined to win it all.

Puerto Rico! • Jul 23, 2023 06:40 PM

Any word or informed information on the starters for PR? I'm already tired of hearing Dickinson referenced with slow ball.

TBT • Jul 23, 2023 05:23 PM

Great to see this year's team behind the bench supporting Mass St. yesterday. Mass St sure could have used a couple of our guards yesterday.

2023 Season Predictions • Jul 15, 2023 11:05 PM

@Texas-Hawk-10 Yes, 35 ppg sucks, but KU had the 5th most difficult schedule last year, behind W Virg, Texas and KState (according to the first and only site I checked). Just guessing here because dinner's almost ready and I'm not going to look it up, but our defense very likely played against much better offenses than about 120 other D1 teams. I don't expect the Big 12 to be nearly as strong this year. So, I'm hopeful that our defense will be good enough to decrease the score on every possession pressure that's been on the offense. Regarding the comments about mediocrity, I guaranty you most of us would have very happy with mediocrity before KU started 5-0 last season. Too damn bad Jason Bean overthrew our open receiver in OT against Ark. Heck, at this time last year, I was just hoping to win 3 games.

2023 Season Predictions • Jul 15, 2023 12:05 PM

I'm really excited for the season to begin. KU players should be playing with huge chips on their shoulders given the low expectations sports writers are giving this year's team. I like the underdog role; the Illinois game is a great opportunity to punch the football know-it-alls in the face.

Huggins Retires • Jul 09, 2023 10:59 AM

Oh no! Now Coach Huggins says he never retired and still wants to coach WV. At 69 and with another DUI pending, it sure seemed like the purported retirement was in everyone's best interest. But noooooooooo, here we go with the George Costanza storyline where George returned to work pretending he didn't get mad and quit his job. Maybe, this is just an effort to gain some additional compensation. We will see.

Puerto Rico! • Jul 08, 2023 01:01 PM

KU's August 3 game is finally getting close. The earlier announcements only mentioned radio coverage; has anyone heard anything about a video broadcast? Where in the hell is ESPN+ when we need some coverage?

2023 Season Predictions • Jul 06, 2023 11:09 AM

I'm so pleased and excited with the upward direction our football program has finally taken. Thank you Coach Leipold and staff. I couldn't have imagined 2 years ago that this board would be debating between a 9-3 and 6-7 season. Rock Chalk Baby.

2024 recruits • Jul 05, 2023 12:59 AM

It's going to be a long wait until initial signing day on February 7, 2024. 7 months for other programs to get into our verbals' ears.

Stadium Renderings • Jun 23, 2023 11:09 PM

@FarmerJayhawk said in Stadium Renderings:

I always had good luck north of the stadium. Also the downtown shuttle is good if you’re doing Mass before or after

I'm with Farmer: I park north of the stadium on the side streets and walk blocks and blocks to the stadium. I'd rather walk a long distance to where I parked, than sit in traffic for long, long minutes trying to get to 9th or 6th streets. Parking garages are difficult to exit when everyone leaves at the same time. I looked at IState's stadium and was quite envious of all the parking surrounding the stadium. But, I don't know how close the football stadium is to campus. I loved having the stadium on campus as a student. Walking to the game was part of the campus experience. This gets back to the chicken and the egg question: is the football experience for the students or the alums? I always believe the students should take priority, but clearly that isn't what happens at AFH.

Huggins Retires • Jun 18, 2023 02:41 PM

I'll sure miss Huggy. Not so much recently, but 5 years ago the defense his teams played against KU was outstanding; I hated to play them in Morgantown. My blood pressure still shoots through the roof when I remember that game where the WV guard was allowed to drive from outside the arc for a winning layup without dribbling once. Oh my, those Morgantown losses hurt. Huggy's problems and Bill's health issues are reminders of the ridiculous stress these coaches suffer. I wish Huggy could have enjoyed a farewell season where opposing teams and fans showed their respect and appreciation for a job well done.

Not a lot of PT available for a 5 in 24-25 :)

Are you confident that Hunter returns for his super-senior year?

Chris Johnson, Going, Going.... • Jun 04, 2023 01:11 PM

I worried that our incoming freshmen are now facing the prospect of playing with vastly different teammates than when they signed. Chris Johnson has apparently requested to be released. I very much hope Coach can keep the rest of our young guys. I assume KU will agree to his release if he wants it.

2023/24 roster breakdown • May 30, 2023 11:07 AM

Is there any word on Daniel Hishaw's recovery? He was the work horse who moved the offense last year. I really hope he's able to contribute this year.

2023 Transfer Portal • May 06, 2023 12:06 PM

Now Zuby has entered the portal. The portal has really changed college basketball: I see plenty of good things about letting young athletes change schools, but I'm going to miss watching players grow over several years at KU. Coach Self appears to be making room for another player. Maybe he has a hint about Kevin.

Hunter Dickenson is a Jayhawk • May 04, 2023 10:35 PM

So, Hunter isn't as tall as Big Greg Ostertag, 7'2". Has any Jayhawk player been taller then Greg? Wilt was a shrimpy 7'1".

Hunter Dickenson is a Jayhawk • May 04, 2023 04:22 PM

Whew boy, another season of "dick" jokes. Oh well, it will be worth it.

2023 Transfer Portal • May 04, 2023 11:23 AM

Ok I know you've heard this before so don't shoot the messenger: Dickinson wrote a farewell message to Michigan fans last night and said he would announce his team today, Thursday. By the way, Kyle Cuffe entered the portal yesterday too. Coincidence? Fingers crossed today(and probably beyond). RC

2023 Transfer Portal • Apr 21, 2023 11:21 AM

So, USC's Tre White has entered the portal. Previously a high school verbal commitment to KU. 6'7" wing; averaged 9 pts per game. If KU misses on other wings, like Ingram should KU pursue?

Ok so the selection commitee has Duke as a 5 seed and Tennessee as the 4, but odds makers have Duke as a 4 pt favorite. I guess we'll see who's right.

Honestly, I'm surprised Duke isn't a bigger favorite considering Tennessee is missing their PG. Duke has also been playing really good basketball for the last month and is much better than the team KU played in November, just like Tennessee is nowhere near as good as when KU played them.

Yes, I forgot Tennessee's pt guard is out. Thanks.

NCAA NON- KU GAMES • Mar 16, 2023 08:55 PM

This Thursday & Friday: The best 2 days in sports

Is it possible that MJ is redshirting?

Jalen has been quiet; he had the quick 9 pts, but only 2 since. 11 pts now

Howard playing 10 players, so they will continue to have plenty of energy. I haven't seen a team play 10 in the first half since I coached a 5th grade girls team.

KU bench has 7 pts; quite an improvement

How many Bama players at the scene of the killing? Maybe four. Not sure how Miller is still playing.

Different leagues, but Ja Morant gets an 8 game suspension just for a video of him with a weapon, but an Alabama player who delivered a gun to a dispute that was used to murder a woman and its just play on in the SEC.

Well as Coach in Letterkenney says "that was f..king embarassing."

Hats off to Jalen, the only Jayhawk who has shown up today. 17pts

@wissox said in Texas game chat (danger I'm 0-1 in my last game chats):

@stoptheflop Isn't Texas playing their third game too?

Texas has 15 bench pts to our 3. Our starters have to do it all

KU just isn't any good on tired legs.

At least the officials aren't trying to decide the game by calling 40+ fouls.

Why aren't we guarding the 3. Jeez

Joe is still the second highest scorer for us at 7

My compliments to the board: no dick jokes so far

Juan, Gradey and KJ have got to get going on offense.

Juan and Gradey need to bring it on offense.

@benshawks08 Joe has 7 pts. He's doing OK
