Really missing Kevin on D. Way to easy for Texas to get to the rim uncontested
Early foul on Jalen.
Re: Tang, COY, my query is did he just get lucky in the portal or is he a great evaluator of talent and a coach who gets his guys to play well? The next two seasons will provide the answer. Great job in 2022-3 Coach Tang. And, I root for all the Big 12 teams to win in the tourny, even KState. I'd like to see an all Big 12 final four.
The Texas bench scored 23 pts last night; 15 by Bishop. In 47 min of playing our bench scored 6 pts. In 23 min of playing time Joe was 1-4 and Bobby didn't shoot in his 8 min. I sure wish KU had a Remy Martin type player on the bench; Mr. offense. I'm satisfied and excited for Udeh and his future at KU. But, how did our coaching staff miss so badly on the other bench players? From here on, Jalen, Gradey and Juan cannot have an off night.
I'm disappointed with Adams, McCullar and Juan only scoring 6 each. Come on now.
Pretty easy to score in the paint when refs don't call 3 secs
Juan has got to shoot more: 3/3 so far
Quick, tell me a KU team with a weaker bench.
KU with a lot of bench minutes, but again no bench pts
Both coaches hitting the bench: ISt 6 bench players, KU 4
3 rbs looks bad, but when KU shoots 67% and ISt 50%, there aren't as many rbs to be had
Bobby isn't looking to shoot, just pass
ISt has already played 10 players, so KU must sub
Got to RB fellas
I really hope Kevin will be able to play through the pain. He was a stud yesterday.
Why did the top seed play the second game, whereas the 4/5 seed game was played 3 hours earlier giving them more rest? No. 2 seed Texas gets the first game this evening, while the 3/6 seeds play the second game.
18-9 foul calls for the game. There's something very wrong with the refs trying to keep WV in the game by only calling fouls one way.
@Crimsonorblue22 said in McCullar:
Dave Lawrence just said he wasn't starting, Joe was. Didn't rule out playing.🙏 oh my!
Oh my is right. What a way to start the post-season: No Coach and no McCullar.
Might as well have rested all 5 starters instead of playing them 28-39 minutes in a game no Jayhawk was even trying to win. Pathetic game. I feel sorry for any Jayhawk fan who wasted money on a ticket and made the effort to attend that farce.
Watching Alabama/TxAM. So far, so good. AM by 10 or so in the second half.
I'm surprised by the small size of the Moody arena for Texas basketball; pretty easy to sell out a 10,000 seat arena. Austin has about a million residents and the campus has 51,000 students. One article I saw says Moody seats 16,000. So every game is a sellout if the event operator just doesn't open all the seats in the arena. Not that I really care if someone wants to call their games a sellout. Let's beat Texas today, sellout or not.
Texas has 6 seniors to play for and is listed as a 3.5 pt favorite today. This is going to be a very tough game.

What hurts is we are getting good looks from 3, just not making them
I don't recall more shots rimming out for us like the first half
Last game at Allen for Gradey? 0 pts so far. Maybe he's trying to lower his draft status just for us.
No KU players even inside the arc to RB on most possessions
@BeddieKU23 said in Alabama's Brandon Miller:
"There's nothing we could charge him with," Tuscaloosa chief deputy district attorney Paula Whitley told AL.com of Miller's legal exposure"
Paula is an Alabama grad fyi..
All prosecutors have the huge responsibility to ethically decide if there's enough actual evidence to prove by probable cause that someone has commited a crime. Then, the prosecutor must decide if probable cause is enough to risk losing the case at trial where the evidentiary burden is beyond a reasonable doubt. I trust prosecutors to make these difficult legal determinations; no one wants people to face charges if there's insufficient evidence to prove a crime has been committed. While our criminal justice system isn't perfect, it works very well in most instances.
Missing layups, again
I sure hope Baylor plays as well today as they did against KU last weekend. The Baylor guards didn't have the same energy in Manhattan.
Houston's schedule reminds me of a typical Gonzaga schedule or even Wichita St several years ago when it was in the Missouri Valley. Houston only has played 4 Q1 games, 3-1, while Kansas has played 18 Q1 games,13-5. Houston has only played 2 games against top 25 teams, Alabama and Virginia. Clearly, the folks voting in the polls aren't taking into account the opponents the top teams are playing and beating; most of Houston's conference wins are against teams that are .500 or below. Houston's CV going into the tournament isn't worthy of a #1 seed.
But saying Miller was at the wrong place at the wrong time, if that's what the coach said about Miller is greatly down playing the responsiblity a gun owner has when lending their gun to someone else. Maybe not criminal conduct, but Miller may be liable civilly for negligent entrustment of the gun. But, I haven't tried to follow any of the facts about this matter. I just wish people would be slower to demand criminal prosecution and other sanctions while the matter is still being investigated.
My quick look at Alabama law says that Miller may legally possess a firearm without a permit in Alabama because he's older than 19. Miller is presumed innocent of any and all criminal conduct until a state or federal prosecutor has probable cause to believe he knowingly participated in the homicide or some other criminal offense. So, there must be some evidence, like witness testimony that Miller knew the firearm he exchanged was going to be used for an ilegal purpose and he knowingly aid and abetted the commision of the offense. I'm sure the investigation is on-going.

Lol that jamie dixon cut out with articulating arms
I thought(hoped) the NCAA had outlawed props behind the basket because we haven't seen those for awhile. The best was the gorilla at OU. The second best was the person behind the shower curtain that I think was AZ St. But, I think its poor sportsmanship because where do you draw the line? Lazers, etc. KU sure missed FTs at the end that could have cost us the game.
TCU bench killing us again: 12 pts so far.
@Jayblaze said in Dajuan Harris Cooks Lizards In Fort Worth Game Thread:
Fun fact: we shot 100% from the line in the first half.
Less fun fact, TCU took 9 FTs to our 1 FT
I fully expect Jalen to turn it on in the second half after a 2 foul, 2 TO, 2 pt. 8 RB first half.
@drgnslayr Your great analysis reminds me of our old friend jaybate. Thanks for the post. I sure hope for a closer game in the first half against TCU. My aging heart can't take too many more of these dramatic comebacks. KU's extra effort in the second half reminds me of NBA teams, where they just stay close through the 3rd Q, then turn up the effort in the 4th Q.
The ESPN box score shows KU with only 4 TOs for an entire game against a Top 10 opponent. WOW!
Our 3 pt shooting has got to improve. 6-21 isn't going to win very many games. But hey, 23/27 FTs 85% is a huge improvement.
Outscoring Baylor 48-22 in this half
Drew whines and the Big 12 refs immediately give him two calls. What BS
How is it opposing teams shoot so well in Allen? Bears 62% 3/4 from 3. OUCH
KJ terrible so far
The Tenn at Kentucky game at noon will help a little to kill time until our game. The drama between Kentucky fans, Calipari and this year's team is fun to watch from a distance. Fun matchup and I don't care who wins. Well, yes I'll be rooting for Ten for sure.
Doesn't our switch defense work against us when a team like Baylor has 3 high scoring players, George(16 pts.), Flagler(16 pts), and Cryer(15 pts.)? Won't those 3 guards just move the ball on offense until they are guarded by KU's 4th or 5th worse defender on the floor and then that player goes to work? If Kevin is our best defender, why not assign him to the Bear with the hottest hand in the game to defend that scorer throughout the possession. It just seems like opposing teams wait for the KU's defensive switch, then make their offensive move or shot.
Big 12 refs would have called at least 100 fouls in the Alabama/Tennessee game; every starter would have been forced to the bench by Big 12 refs. Wow, was that a physical game, especially on defense.
Really fun rematch with Baylor coming to the Phog on Saturday. Our guys have changed and improved a lot since the last meeting. KJ only scored 4 and the bench/Rice contributed just 2 pts. Also, Harris played 36 min but only scored 2 pts. Gradey's 24 pts. and Jalen's 23 pts. were our only significant contributors. So, I expect much more scoring from KJ and Harris on Saturday, and a couple guys off the bench will contribute enough to beat the Bears. I think I saw that Game Day was coming to Lawrence for the game. Fun, fun, fun, but KU must win this rematch.
@DCHawker Exactly why I don't bet on games. Aren't they all a toss up; who thinks they may predict results? Lots of betting now. Not by me.
@mayjay Thanks, yes third foot on the ground makes more sense than 3 steps. Really, this means two feet on the ground after the catch and then one step-a football move.
RE: Fumble/Incomplete Pass. When did the NFL decide or make a rule that the receiver had to take 3 steps after the catch to be a completion? That's certainly not the rule when the ball isn't fumbled; we've seen hundreds of calls on whether it was a catch or not and none of them include 3 steps. I'm just going by what the FOX expert said during the broadcast that the "football move rule" according to him required 3 steps after the catch to qualify as a catch. I've never heard that before.
So did Hurts outplay double MVP Mahomes? Hurts had 304 yds passing, 1 TD and 70 yds rushing, 3 TDs. Impressive.
