The flop I despise the most is the 3 pt shooter who fakes being fouled knowing the outside ref is watching the shooters feet and can be fooled to think contact took place higher up the body. I also remember seeing 3 ball shooters pull the defender on top of them as they fall backwards. Something has to be done to stop the poor sportsmanship of floppin, so like the NBA did many years ago, now it's a technical foul.

Haven't we played against a couple of 7 ft'ers somewhere before? Can Tennessee adjust to our speed?

Yes, Duke had 5 guys 6'11" and taller. Even N. Dakota had taller centers than KU. So, we've done well against taller teams so far.

Watching replay, big thing noticed is how Self abandoned a lot of motion sets to get the ball moving side to side. He was forced to play starters too many minutes and they were gassed. He let Jalen be the guy that got the ball in position to score on almost every possession. This was all Self. It worked out but we sacrificed a lot in that 2nd half/OT because his bench wasn't reliable. I think Wisconsin did a great job in their defensive scheme limiting easy ball movement and how they guarded Dick was another noticeable adjustment. They were also double and trippling Jalen at times. All wrinkles we have to be prepared to see from other teams.

It was noticeable how the crowd was impacting KU when they cut the lead to a 1 possession game. Some noticeable frustration from even Juan out there. He was clearly upset about how Wisconsin got back into this game. The refs made sure of that when calling him for multiple phantom fouls

Very concerned tonight about starters getting gassed tonight. This game is really going to need the bench to produce something. Tennessee has the 2nd ranked defense

I was really surpised that our freshmen bigs didn't get a few minutes each aginst Wisc. We need our bigs against Tenessee since it plays a couple of seven footer guys. I just can't see KJ being able to defend the Tenessee bigs.

10am Start, Thurs WISCONSIN • Nov 24, 2022 05:54 PM

It seems rebounding by the offensive team after a missed 3 isn't important to today's players. The focus seems to be on getting back on defense. As soon as the 3 ball is launched, most offensive players including the shooter are headed down court to defend.

10am Start, Thurs WISCONSIN • Nov 24, 2022 05:40 PM

Weird, both teams ended the game 24/62, 38.7% from the field. I guess that's why it was such a close game. Really disappointed with our guys. But, we got the W (sure doesn't fell like a win, thought).

Wisconsin with 20 bench pts, KU 0. OUCH

10am Start, Thurs WISCONSIN • Nov 24, 2022 04:21 PM

KU needs a 4th consistent scorer.

10am Start, Thurs WISCONSIN • Nov 24, 2022 03:55 PM

Like yesterday, Bobbie is playing a lot of minutes but not doing much. He hasn't taken a shot yet.

10am Start, Thurs WISCONSIN • Nov 24, 2022 03:18 PM

KU shooting 12%; McCullar 0/5. Come on now.

10am Start, Thurs WISCONSIN • Nov 24, 2022 03:10 PM

Which Gradey will we see today? The first half, can't miss Gradey or the second half where the hell is Gradey. Loved his first half shooting.

I was pretty satisfied with this game. Seems we often get knocked out early in these fall distant tourneys where there is a beach.

Self was already sunburned.

We've been talking about Self's impact on the actual game. I think he made a difference today. I think he helped keep Dajuan settled down and it is Dajuan's show.

Anyways... glad to get the win and look forward to a game with Whiskey.

I noticed Coach's red complexion too, but I think it's from higher blood pressure during the game. I noticed the redness during games last year too.

11 AM Start, Wed NC STATE • Nov 23, 2022 09:55 PM

There was a much bigger crowd for the Wisc. Dayton game. I wonder why KU as the highest seed plays the earliest game.

The Phrenetic Chab... • Nov 23, 2022 08:16 PM

Your comments remind me of our undersized forward, Richard Scott, 6'7" who was fearless in the paint. Played for us from 1990-94. Loved his heart and style of play.

11 AM Start, Wed NC STATE • Nov 23, 2022 06:29 PM

Only 4 bench points. Udeh 2 and Bobby 2. And it doesn't look like KU will get MJ back anytime soon.

11 AM Start, Wed NC STATE • Nov 23, 2022 06:16 PM

51 FTs taken. Way too many to be an enjoyable game to watch.

11 AM Start, Wed NC STATE • Nov 23, 2022 05:59 PM

Bobby is playing a lot of minutes this half. I'm not sure that's a good thing

11 AM Start, Wed NC STATE • Nov 23, 2022 05:39 PM

How many shots has KU missed at the rim? I'll tell you: Too damn many.

0 bench points for the half. That has got to improve

11 AM Start, Wed NC STATE • Nov 23, 2022 04:38 PM

Oh lord, who are these guys in white uniforms. TOs everywhere. Oh lordy, lordy.

11 AM Start, Wed NC STATE • Nov 23, 2022 02:12 PM

I'm not dissatisfied or surprised by Juan's 9 pts per game average. On offense his strengths are ball handling, setting up the offense and getting assists. Do we need a third penetrating guard after Jalon and Gradey? I hope Kevin will settle in and increase his points; I think that's going to happen soon. And then, we all know the 5 spot is our mystery position. We'll just have to wait and see who finally emerges as our best option at the 5. That will depend on which player gives us the best advantage on defense and then whether the same player helps on offense. Oh, this is going to be fun.

Coach Self had an interview that was played on one of the tournaments today - -think it was the Maui , anyways he was talking about how he didn't like not being able to Coach the 1st 4 games but understood.

Paid Grady the ultimate compliment. - -Saying Grady is the best shooter he has EVER been around , that's saying something. -Also talked about how he liked the team and said we had a couple of guys that could get on a roll and carry KU a long ways. - -Then Seth said that Grady is one of the best hardest cutters in the game he has ever seen , how Grady is able to read Screens.

Coach said actually Grady haad already saved KU in two games this year. - -Enjoy him while we got him guys , he not gonna be here long

Gradey = Remy's long lost son...lol.

I really miss Remy Martin. Later in the season when he would enter the game, I enjoyed the energy he brought into the game both on offense and defense. I wish him all the best going forward and thank him for his considerable contributions to our National Championship.

My post was just to alert others who might not have seen the early starting time. Lots of us are working Wednesday and may need to record the game.

11 AM Start, Wed NC STATE • Nov 22, 2022 02:39 PM

Just in case anyone else missed the memo, the holiday actually starts Wednesday. KU's game is at 11 am on ESPN. NC State's offense is led by two senior guards and a sophmore guard, but the team was just 11-21 last year. Lots of close games against good teams though. The Pack is 4-0 this year with wins over Austin Peay, Campbell, Florida Int'l and Elon. So, a much different opponent with little scoring from its bigs. Seems like a good game to work Udeh and Zuby into the offense.

I am curious if folks think jalen will continue to shoot over 20 shots a night with self back at the helm. Have we had a player with that level of usage? Feels like he’s either shooting or assisting on nearly every play.

Him and Gradey have to shoot and score. That's the bulk of our offense. Until a third guy steps up, he's gotta take shots.

I sure hope McCullar gets his offensive game going. He should be our third, consistent scorer. I penciled him in for 13-15 pts a game before I knew Gradey was going to do so well. If McCullar scores 10 pts or more per game, I would like to see Dajuan also at 10 per game. The 5 spot will just be a mystery although KJ has been getting some points while sharing minutes at the 5.

Yup, McCullar should be that guy for sure.

I must have selective memory, because I don’t recall his offensive game at TT at all. At the very least I would hope with his size and ability he could score at the rim.

McCullar average 10/ game the last 2 years with TexTech. In KU's offense and with other scorers to occupy the defenders, I sure would think he would score more this year.

I feel like Kevin is taking good shots. They just haven’t really fallen for him.

I would like to see Kevin take more shots. At least 10 a game. Edit: I just looked at his stats and he's taken 31 shots, so 7.75/game so far.

Is there anything more inexact in sports than a football official's placement of the ball after a play? I get that tv camera angles make it difficult for home viewers to judge well. But, how many times have you watched an official seem to misplace the ball? Surely there is a better way to spot the ball after a play. Even tennis uses cameras. Baseball's home plate umpire calling balls and strikes is part of the nuance of that game. But, in football the official is just supposed to place the ball to the point it was advanced. I like that the spot may be challenged in the NFL. Why not take advantage of technology here.

Duke Kills Kansas... Kansas Wins Game! • Nov 19, 2022 12:34 PM

I just noticed that with 9 seconds left, Coach Norm took Gradey out of the game. Why take out one of the few players who can make a FT? Who has better hands than Gradey for the inbounds pass and the quick Duke foul? Welcome back Coach Self. Re-watching the the last 4 minutes shows Gradey was great, but so were Dajuan(charge), KJ (basket at rim and one), and Wilson.
