Why can't everyone just call him Gradey?

Southern Utah Game Thread • Nov 18, 2022 11:42 PM

Are we good, really? Posters say Juan can't score, no one can hit free throws and our starting 5 is what, like 6'5". Oh my this year is going to be a disaster. And, our head coach has been suspended by the university. Oh my, what a disaster. By the way, our opponent's 3 game win streak is against LaVerne, St. Katherine and Bethesda. We don't have a chance tonight. Pass the tequila.

Jason Bean • Nov 18, 2022 04:22 PM

What is the best guess for who will be the starting QB against Texas?

2022-23 stats-PER, Kenpom etc • Nov 17, 2022 11:22 AM

Yeah, yeah, yeah, numbers, numbers, numbers, blah, blah, blah; when a Duke player had an open court for a layup/dunk in the first half, I saw the headband on a KU player streaking down court for a the terrific block that was followed by a second block. Of course that was our #3, Dejuan Harris starting that defensive play and not giving one inch to a Duke player. That shows why Dejuan is on the court; the rest is just blah, blah, blah.

Dook Game Thread • Nov 16, 2022 07:59 PM

I really thought our bench would score more. Only Zuby and Bobby got baskets. So, 4 pts from the bench on 2/9 shots. Four bench players played 46 minutes. KU needs more bench scoring. Come on now. The bench did contribute 10 rbs, 7 blocks and 2 assists, so that's something.

Duke Kills Kansas... Kansas Wins Game! • Nov 16, 2022 05:05 PM

I haven't been able to watch the game again yet. But, my lasting memory of this game is of all the really bad 3 pt shots put up by both teams. Joe's 2 shots in the first half barely hit the backboard. I guess the big stage for this game causes players to forget all about shooting mechanics and just jack up any old shot. Also, I sure like playing the early game in this classic because all the seats are full. It looked like most of the Mich St and Kentucky fans left after their long, long game. It seemed that anyone in the arena could sit courtside for our game in all the empty seats.

TTech Game thread • Nov 12, 2022 11:43 PM

Once again, horrible offensive play calling.

Taking on DOOK • Nov 12, 2022 03:06 PM

Just because only Duke can, wouldn't you put all the centers in a game at one time: 7', 7', 7'1", 7'1" & 6'10". Play zone defense and put the four best shooters outside the arc on offense. It sure would get fans talking.

Taking on DOOK • Nov 12, 2022 12:41 PM

I've never seen a team's roster list 5 centers. Duke has 4 centers who are 7 feet or taller and the shorty is one of 2 starting centers, senior Ryan Young at 6'10". In the first 2 games, centers Young and 7' Freshman Filipowski both average 12 pts. Quite the test for our Jayhawks.

I know the grind will come soon enough. NDSU is so bad they should be relegated to D3! NDSU is so bad bison ought to stampede their arena. NDSU is so bad they couldn't have beat James Naismith first KU team! NDSU is so bad they would only beat Missouri by a point. NDSU is so bad my intramural team at KU would have beat them.

I really think the Bison's poor shooting is more from KU's excellent defense and less about their lack of skill

Fargo Game Thread • Nov 11, 2022 12:51 AM

16 bench points

Fargo Game Thread • Nov 11, 2022 12:39 AM

KU has got to get Dajuan going on offense. Maybe run something to help him get a basket

Fargo Game Thread • Nov 11, 2022 12:33 AM

Rice came to play and score

Fargo Game Thread • Nov 11, 2022 12:28 AM

Everyone is shooting, but only 3 Hawks have scored.

Gameday- North Dakota State Bison • Nov 11, 2022 12:04 AM

Jayhawk Network radio pregame is very hard to listen to. 2 minutes program, then 2-3 minutes of commercials. Too damn many commercials. Jeez.

Gameday- North Dakota State Bison • Nov 10, 2022 11:45 PM

I sure hope ESPN+ works better tonight.

@FarmerJayhawk

I threw out the MJ bit not expecting he'd play. I have a good guess where MJ is right now and its not a good place to be this early for a freshman. Hopefully he comes out a better version of himself on the other end of this.

This is exactly how my wife and adult daughters talk at the dinner table and I don't have a clue what in the hell they are talking about. And, they like it that way.

Gameday- North Dakota State Bison • Nov 10, 2022 11:24 AM

Great game to get #23, Udeh and#35, Zuby playing time against more experienced bigs like we will see Tuesday against Duke. Duke got 22 pts from its C, Young 6'10" and F, Filipowski 7' in its opener. N Dakota St F, Nelson #4 scored 17 pts against Arkansas; he's 6'11". The Bison also got 7 pts from F Morgan, #23; he's 6'10". I don't worry about the opponent's guards beating us. I do worry about defending the opponent's bigs, which is exactly what KU has relied upon in the past to beat opponents. These early games are going to remind us how much Dave meant to us the last 2 years.

Box Score Musings • Nov 08, 2022 11:26 AM

I'm really impressed with Gradey's overall game, not just his 3 pt shooting. Quick, opponent annoying hands that constantly knock passes and dribbles loose. I'm not sure McCullar has found his fit with this team yet. McCullar reminded me of Grimes at times: I had to look to see if he was even on the floor. Lots to look forward to with this group.

Okie St. Pokie Game • Nov 05, 2022 11:32 PM

@Texas-Hawk-10 #10, what did you think of the offensive play calling? Especially in the red zone. Too conservative with all the center runs or just being safe to avoid mistakes?

Okie St. Pokie Game • Nov 05, 2022 11:01 PM

Seems like quite a few KU players were hurt during the game. I'll be interested to hear the report, if Lance will give us any info

Okie St. Pokie Game • Nov 05, 2022 09:47 PM

Neal with 332 total yds unofficially (ESPN)

Okie St. Pokie Game • Nov 05, 2022 09:27 PM

Will this be Bean's first win?

Okie St. Pokie Game • Nov 05, 2022 09:20 PM

Devin Neal with 210 rushing yds. RC

Okie St. Pokie Game • Nov 05, 2022 08:39 PM

14 passes to 21 rushes. I really think KU should pass more in the second half

Okie St. Pokie Game • Nov 05, 2022 08:04 PM

I hate third down passes that aren't thrown past the first down line. Why throw a 3 yd pass when you need 6 yds?

Okie St. Pokie Game • Nov 05, 2022 07:48 PM

The offense and the refs have left 11 points off the scoreboard for us. Bean has got to improve his passing accuracy

Okie St. Pokie Game • Nov 05, 2022 07:34 PM

Three running plays up the middle and a worse result each time. That's just BS play calling

Okie St. Pokie Game • Nov 05, 2022 07:20 PM

KU now 3 pt favorites. Must be the new gambling law in Kansas pumping $ into the pool for KU.

Gradey Dick led all KU players at the FT line hitting 3/5. As a team, KU FT shooting was 8/20. How in the hell does a team of D1 athletes shoot less than 50%? Doesn't McCarthy have an indoor basketball court for unlimited practice? There's no excuse for such poor FT shooting. It seems like our coaching staff just tolerates it.

Hey, Cuffe at least hit the backboard!

Barely hit the backboard. I'll give him a pass due to nerves.

TCU Shenanigans • Nov 05, 2022 03:42 PM

Not related to shenanigans, but what does Sonny Dykes have to do to sell out the TCU stadium? 8 and 0, ranked #7 and playing in-state rival, TexTech, but the stadium is only 2/3's full. Maybe the early start time, but where are you Lizard fans?

Okie St. Pokie Game • Nov 05, 2022 12:59 PM

Besides hoping for a big crowd, I sure hope Coach Borland has a solution that keeps KU from spotting the Cowboys 2 or 3 TDs before our offense gets started. Jason Bean should be able to find open targets all afternoon against the weak Cowboy secondary. Gotta get bowl eligible. Today's the day.

Pitt State Gorillas Game Thread • Nov 04, 2022 11:47 AM

Clemence made the case for starting at the 5. I don't understand why many posters want Adams at the 5, which was where he started in the second half. In 14 min. Zach shot 3/3-7 pts, 4 rbs. 1 blk; whereas in 21 min, Adams scored 4 pts on 1/3 shooting, had an ugly 3 attempt, 1 rb, 1 stl and 1 blk. Yes, late in the second half Zuby reminded me of Dok in the paint. But, for now Zach should get most of the minutes at the 5 while Udeh and Zuby figure things out.

There was some really bad 3 point shooting by our guys. Cuffe, Adams, Yesufu. Didn't look like they practiced 3s at all. FTs either.
