Jeff Boschee has got to be happy with 34 first half points. Magillas look pretty good
@KirkIsMyHinrich Announcers said he injured his back
Boschee looks great. Can't say the same for the defending champs.
So you include KJ as a big. KU lists him as 6'7". How tall to you think he really is?
@BShark My prediction that Zach would start is just a guess based on HC's previous teams. Coach likes a big man at the 5 and Zach fits that description. But just that's just my guess and we'll know very soon.

2 hours away. We might be starting 2 bigs!
Oh don't be mysterious, who?
Believe the starting line-up will be Dajuan, Kevin, Jalen, KJ, Udeh.
Wow, Gradey didn't crack the starting line up? Wow.

So, not having heard otherwise, I believe I'll see Zach Clemence on the floor to start the game. Prove me wrong. Whoops, that's Reddit.

@stoptheflop ESPN +.
Thanks Jethro. I still have ESPN+ but didn't need use it much since KU football has been so successful. I can't wait to see this year's team.
Has anyone seen where the Pitt St exhibition game is being broadcast? I miss those years when our games were televised on the same cable channel, but the new reality is we have to search for each broadcast. Little help please.
@Jethro said in The 5 spot:
Why not Jalen at the 5?
Even at 6'8", I remember thinking Mitch Lightfoot was undersized at the 5 when the opponent got the ball to their 5. At a "listed" 6'7", 225 lbs., other teams will post him up and let their big men go to work and score. KJ will be OK on offense; way different that DMac, but OK. The mismatches will ocurr on the defensive end of the court. But, I loved KJ's defense on the perimeter, like NC's Manek. so when the opponent's 4 or 5 regularly plays outside, KJ would be my choice.
KC must stop allowing Sky Moore to return punts. Second muff.
Where in the hell is our 6th win going to come from: OSt, Texas Tech, Texas or KSt? I thought maybe Texas Tech, but they just destroyed WV today. I guess we are left with an unexpected upset, like Texas last year. OUCH!

Only 17 more days (I hope) till the end of these effing political TV ads
The best invention in the history of mankind: The Mute Button.
For the second week in a row our opponent gets their injured starting QB back while ours has to sit. I sure hope Coach Borland finds a way to hold down Baylor's offense. KU's defense gives up an average of 30 pts a game, which would be higher except for the IState low scoring game. Everyone focuses on the offense, but I'd sure like to see the defense show up today.
I see Doke on the Jazz's roster at 6'10". He's too young to be shrinking, so I wonder if they measure players without shoes or what the difference is for his 7 foot measurement at KU.
Tough game. Jayhawks need to get bowl eligible against OU. Nice to see the stadium full. Do we really need the beer garden? Now that we have fans in the stands, I'd prefer to see the bowl full and not have the big gap behind the double decker bar.
Just have to score. KU has played too well to let this one get away

A lot of time - - A lot of time left, scary , and leaving 10 points on the field.- - -Defense has to make a stand - - - -Couldn't of ask much more from Bean. Suprised by his passing a little today , pretty decent
I guess decent: 14/18, 242 yds & 4TDs
Still in this. This is becoming a must win given how hard the team has fought to be in the game.
Just like the ISt game, a lot of pressure on the defense this half
I hate 3rd down plays that are underneath passes; why not throw to a route that is past the first down line?
@FarmerJayhawk said in JUST BEAT THE TCU LIZARDS:
In Bean we trust
Bean wasn't effective at all last week in the several plays he was called upon. My guess is Coach sticks with Daniels.
1-5 3rd down conversions and the fumble on the goal line sum up KU's inept half. But, our defense has at least kept us in the game.
Last week's offensive funk has carried over to today's game. Except for the one 99 yd drive, the defense has been great.
Jalon's fumble just killed the defense's effort. Football is a game of emotions.
The crowd and the stadium look great, full and active.
I wonder how many viewers will watch ABC at 11 for the SEC Greener Pastures Bowl. I hope the game ends in a scoreless tie.
@bskeet said in JUST BEAT THE TCU LIZARDS:
TCU has better athletes across the board than ISU. This game is against the haves.
To win this one, we need TCU to put in an average performance and, collectively, the Hawks need to play near their ceiling, no injuries and deliver a touch of Houdini here and there.
Wow, this is KU's biggest football game since the Orange Bowl win. So much pressure on our guys. I'm holding my breath until KU wins this game.
Yes, a horned frog is actually a lizard according to the TCU website; who knew? KU can't complain since our mascot is a fictional bird named after a civil war term for Kansas territorial citizens who fought against slavery by attacking Missouri farmers.
6.5 underdogs again. What's it take to get a little respect for a home game opponent. Coach Leipold is going to have to do better to win this game; better play calling and better game management. Loosen the reins on QB Daniels. Let Daniels look to pass on first down, then pull it down and run if nothing is open or Neal can be the check down like NFL QBs use. Daniels is passing well and our receivers are doing great. KU is at its best when the offensive accelerator is to the metal. I sure hope the TCU offense that pummeled OU doesn't find the same success this Saturday.
CBS Sports is estimating that KU will be ranked #15-ahead of KState at #21. I need JayBaller to use his resources to announce the rankings ahead of the actual websites that I was hounding last weekend. Yesterday didn't feel like a win: no second half points and only 3 first downs. But, KU is 5-0 and preparing for TCU and gameday next Saturday. RC, Baby
Has anyone ever seen officials take a second review on a play? Crybaby Cambell called timeout, then the officials actually reviewed their review. Is there any protocal that allows officials to make a second review? Crybaby Cambell complained about calls during and after the loss to Baylor last week. Somehow the officials have decided Cambell's complaints warrant extra attention. I guess Campbell is on a pedestal now that some believe loser Nebraska has added him to their list of next-to-be-fired-coach.
TCU took apart a Riley ditching, rebounding OU program. I thought OU was overrated, but my oh my did TCU pound them. What will KU do with TCU's offense? Or, was this just one of those days for TCU and next Saturday in Memorial Stadium they will return to normal. KU always plays TCU close.

@stoptheflop Huge loss especially given how much Lance likes to run.
Daniel's passes were mostly off today; really just an off day for the offense against a good ISt defense.

@nwhawkfan Hishaw was carted off
He won't be back this year. Was evident immediately sadly.
Hishaw's first half TD was an amazing display of athletic talent and drive. I will greatly miss him in the lineup.
I very much enjoy everyone's posts here. KU Buckets makes the W sweeter by far.
Yes, the KU defense won this game. The stats on offense are pretty horrific. Bring On TCU and possible bowl eligibilty.
Yaw, that was one painful game. But a W is a W. RC
Boy, would I like to see a TD right here; right now
@DanR said in Good Grief, Just Beat Iowa State:
good hit, logan
Bryant got smoked on the defense; good thing Logan was there to knock the catch loose.
ISt is finally in positive number on rushing; +7 for the game.
I really think KU should pass more; Jalon can really loosen up the defense by completing some easy 8 yd passes.
Anyone agree with going for 3. After our D just left guys wide open on the last easy TD drive
3 kind of forgot all he had to do was tackle the holder. But, just let him run it in. Jeez
I sure hope we send crybaby Matt Campbell home with a big L
These head coaches are getting way too much air time. The ISt coach has been on my screen more than the actual game
Got to punch this in.
I'm surprised by how much Bean is being used. Daniels has only rushed once.
The defense has to get more pressure on Dekkers. ISt is only moving the ball through the air.
