Everyone is doing a good job of finding Bragg open. Wow 13 points and 7 rbs.
Svi with the swat and foul.
Wow, Lucas and Vick still with the old goose eggs in scoring.
I don't like the gray jerseys. Bring back our home court whites
@Crimsonorblue22 Way to rub it in Crimson. I have to wait until the post-game show to see Rush's ceremony. Have fun. I'm glad for you.
What's this? A two possession lead at the break.
I give credit to TCU, only 5 turnovers and very few breakaways for us (one I think)
Double OUCH, Lucas 0 points, and 1 rb.
Sadly, with this team playing in AFH I root for a 2 possession lead, which we finally have.
first runout of the game, right?
Hey, I appreciate everyone being here and I enjoy your comments. Thanks.
Are we just playing like an NBA team, where only the 4th Q matters? Damn, a decent lead at home would be nice for once. Whoops, we had a 12 points lead against I State.
@Texas-Hawk-10 Yea for us, I guess.
Wow, TCU scores 39 first half points against us. Who in the hell are these guys?
Shooting % is even at 44%, but we are getting out rebounded by 8, 21 to 13
I agree, may we stop commenting on a player's looks, He's a freshman playing D1 ball. Let's be respectful here, please.
Opponents just aren't intimidated by our team or AFH. All season the opponents have shot well and played well in AFH.
Are you kidding me Bragg and more Bragg
@JayhawksandChill But our Mr. Bragg is rebounding and scoring, 3 rbs and 6 pts.
Has Josh come back out?
Fisher is being allowed to shoot uncontested shots. Why does our defense stick at the beginning of AFH games?
Our slow starts are really getting old.
@cragarhawk Until you're 42 and 6'10". Ouch.
Josh Jackson with the nasty D.
@JayHawkFanToo Yes, the wine and cheese seats. After halftime, there are always several rows of courtside seats empty for several minutes into the second half for these late returners. It makes me smile every game.
@JayHawkFanToo Interesting stats. Good grief KU rocks. We sell a lot of tickets home and away. Your welcome rest of the Big 12.
Middle of the week game against a lesser opponent. I'll be counting the empty seats at AFH tonight. My preliminary guess is 0, except for the VIP seats on the eastside bleachers after halftime for the folks still enjoying the food and beverages in the VIP Lounge and aren't aware that the second half has started. I was fortunate enough to wear one of those wristbands last year and was surprised no one told us the second half had started. My apologies for getting back to my seat late for the second half. It's a good thing Dick V didn't call me out.
Worrisome quote "You can post him, but he's not a post guy. ...he'll play on the perimeter in college." So really, he'll play the 3 spot for KU, right? Or, Self will continue to play four perimeter players next year of whom Preston will be one. Our man Dok will play the 5 and be backed up by Lightfoot and Coleby? All presupposing Preston becomes eligible. Wow, Coach Self is going to earn his paycheck next year.
@jayballer54 Regarding fans leaving at halftime of football games, only part of that is the score of the game. But also, it's the length of the game and the weather. With so many television breaks, the game is extended so that It becomes a round of golf where you spend more than four hours at the game. The entertainment during the long commercial breaks helps, but when it's hot or cold it just gets too long. I'm still in awe of the several thousand fans still in the stadium for the Texas win. Way to go die hard fans.
Turn on Baylor's home game on ESPN2 and you will see the stadium is only half full. The Number 9 team in the country doesn't sell out a home game. Are you kidding me?
Very good points about not shaking up a very successful team and that Vick is able to fill in for more positions off the bench. We'll see Wednesday if Coach wants to reward Vick/demote Svi or prefers to keep the lineup the same. Why mess with success? Imagine Coach changing the starting lineup and then losing to TCU. "Oh, the humanity." I respect and appreciate all your thoughts fellow Jayhawk fans.
I'm still enjoying the bounty of information from the Baylor box score. My goodness Frank had a great line: 39 min, 7-12 FG, 1-3 3PT, 8-8 FTs, 2 Rbs, 8 Ast, 2 Stl, 1 TO and 23 Pts. What a special player we have in Frank Mason.
Coach Weber being on the court during live play is an intentional effort on his part to affect the game. When we were on offense, his position on the court limited our ability to swing the ball to the corner. I can't believe the refs aren't calling this. Weber ends up being a sixth defender on the court. All the refs have to do is warn him that next time he's on the court during play it's a T. Really, it's about respecting the game. But, Weber is trying to influence the game with his court presence.
Svi scored 4 against WV in 21 min, Vick scored 14 in 18 min. Against Baylor, Svi scored 3 points, while Vick score 8 points that coach said were critical to winning the game. Better offense, better defense, so Vick should start. Don't kid yourself, it matters who starts. Especially to the players.
I love Svi on offense, at least some of the time. Earlier in the season when we first saw Svi driving to the rim a la Wiggs, I thought he was going to be a difference maker on offense for this team. But, we may no longer tolerate his defensive ineptness. Vick needs to return to the starting lineup. Then, bring Svi in for offense as a spot up shooter and occasional penetrator, similar to the way Brannen Greene was used last year.
I know Svi is our fourth leading scorer at 10/game in 28 minutes. But, against Baylor, Svi's play created dissention on the floor. Vick's energy and better defense necessitates the promotion. Svi's contributions have been on the decline recently, whereas Vick's play off the bench has provided much needed offense at critical times and many have attributed our last two victories to Vick's efforts. Reward the slashing Mr. Vick and use Svi as an offensive hammer off the bench.
We get a nice rest before we play TCU on Wednesday. And it's the 6 PM game, so we'll get to see the start of the game.
A really fun win. Improbable, but none the less a W. RCJH
Alright, now for our 14th straight championship. We'd better start chewing on that fat right now.
@BShark Regarding sitting behind the opponent's bench, when I was at KU, students who got there really early could pick seats, even behind the benches. I sat and yelled one whole game at Norm Stewart and the man never responded. I sat three rows behind Missouri's benched with some fraternity members and yelled at Norm the whole game. Great fun that our students no longer get to enjoy.
@jaybate-1.0 Good Grief. Are you at least able to watch a replay. I have it on my DVR it you want to come by.
Stone cold winners are these Jayhawks. Finished scoring on an 8-0 run against a really good Baylor team
I think we are a better team with Coleby playing the 5 than Bragg. Bragg doesn't even try to play the 5 when he's in for Lucas. At least Coleby will bang inside; Bragg is out on the perimeter.
I want to give credit to Vick: 8 pts, and 6 rbds. Great game.
Let's enjoy this great victory folks. Wow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This team is great.
80% FT shooting: 16/20. Coach was right, they'll make FT's when they need to.
Our guys refuse to lose.
Time for a couple of Jackson back to back 3's. Come on now.
Jackson and Lucas must play smart with 3 fouls. We're going to need both of them to win this sucker.
Down 12 on the boards, 28/16. How is this game tied?
Lucas is 3/3 on FG's. He's just got to shoot more.
