Good grief, Bragg has 0 rebounds.
I guess it's to be expected, but we are getting killed on the boards: 22/11. Landen only has 3.
Baylor is 5/10 from 3, we are 1/8
How is it possible that Motley and the hyphen don't have any fouls?
Ouch: 9/26 FG's. Hard to win on the road if you shoot 30%
37% shooting again.
We really must give credit to the Baylor front line. They're really good. But, our guys are finding a way to keep us in this.
My God, why won't Landen go up with the ball?
Yes, we are still winning games despite Udoka's injury and player suspension distractions. Mason, Graham, Jackson and Lucas must be enough to get us to the Big 12 and NCAA championships. It will take an incredible effort by these four, but they can do it. The necessary scoring is double, double from Lucas, 20 pts. each from Mason and Jackson, and Graham must hit key 3's and score at least 14/ game.
Keep voting Mason fans.
Our coaching staff is still a work in progress. I like that Coach Beaty is still working to improve his staff. Every coaching change is an opportunity to get better. A better coaching staff, plus better athletes on the field equals more wins.
@jaybate-1.0 I would like to think every college team tries to win every game. Now, I watched a few minutes of the KState/IState game and it was apparent that KState didn't show up to play. Motley doesn't seem to play hard the whole time he's in; Motley plays in spurts. So if we just play our game and wait for Motley to go into hibernation mode, we will win in Waco.
I love the candid photo in the above newspaper article. Coach is intense, Svi looks nervous and Udoka is looking to the heavens, well probably the scoreboard. Come on guys, bring the heat on Saturday.
With every victory, the next game gets more important. Really, unbearably important. And there is no more important game for us to date than Baylor on Saturday. Our guys are finding ways to win, but Baylor looms, especially that ridiculous front line of Motley and Lual-Acuil. Lecomte will likely play his best game of the year against us. So will Wainwright.
I heard coach talking this week about Frank's offense. Coach said with Frank making 50% of his 3's, he wants Frank to shoot more. Coach also mentioned teams are doubling Frank, so other players have to recognize the double team and get open. This will be a game where Landen may finally make his mark as an inside scorer. Like Perry, Landen struggles against taller defenders. I still think it's a lack of confidence. Imagine if Landen had Frank's confidence. Double, double from Landen, 20 from Frank and Josh, and we cruise to number thirteen. RCJH
@RockChalkinTexas I saw that tickets for the KState IState game this week were as low as $4. Sadly, the seats were pretty good too. Now, I compare that to our football ticket prices that start at $25 for general seating (bowl) and $40 for seats on the goal line. Come on KU athletic department, we need people at Memorial Stadium while our team is rebuilding. Please create some specials on tickets to get at least 40,000 in the stadium. Give some good stuff away. Whatever it takes. I hate that the stands are less than half full for athletes who are working their tails off to get us back to respectability. OK, I'm getting off the soap box now. Thank you for your kind attention.
Just a suggestion, but I always prefer signs that promote your own team, rather than one that says something derogatory about the opponent or the school. I always try to distance myself from fans like KState and I hope other KU fans do the same. The best sign I saw at our last game was a young woman holding "0 is my Hero." If we get there, something about our 13th Consecutive Championship will likely get on TV.
I need to look for Wolves' game on the flat screen. I'm curious about Wiggs' defense.
I hope everyone will start this football season with me on April 15 in Memorial Stadium. I can't think of a better way to spend a spring afternoon. We'll get our first look at Peyton Bender, Daylon Charlot and many others. I like that Beaty structures the spring game like a regulation game and doesn't use it as a final practice. Expectations amongst posters here vary on this season, but all things are possible this early. I can't wait to see the pig skin fly around Memorial Stadium. RCJH
Wiggs shot better than 50% on FG's, which is better than I've seen from him in the past Thanks for the post. I really enjoy hearing about our alums success in the NBA.
This still doesn't feel like a win to me. The come back was incredible, but it was only necessary because we couldn't score field goals. That's my question: How is WV able to come into AFH and score more easily than we do on our home court?. Perplexing, really. All season opponents have shot well in AFH.
Devonte and Frank won this game. It still appears Devonte is going through the motions and not putting his heart into these games, especially early in the games. But, without his clutch 3's we lose a must win.
Because we have been shut out in Morgantown, I'm starting to get the rivalry vibe with WV. Huggy's guys play hard and are absolutely intent on beating us. The Missouri rivalry had such an historical background that it was just natural to hate everything Missouri. My desire to whip WV comes from our complete shut out in Morgantown and my perception that the refs help WV prevail. 34% FG's. How in the hell did we win this one? That's the real mystery for me. Anyone else bothered by the 58 foul calls? At least Frank was a monster at the stripe. RCJH
Down to 32% shooting 13/41
Poor shooting: Frank 1/6; Graham 1/6 and Svi 1/3
Wow, the fouls really turned around. WV 16 Ku 12
Mason and Graham simply must get going on offense. WTF
WV just continues to outshoot us. 45% to 34%. We just aren't going to win shooting below 40%
Missed dunk record. Hillarious, but painful
It's really heating up now. More technicals coming
Rough, rough first half. I feel good about the second half. It was getting chippy there at the end. I'm sure we will come out strong. RCJH
Hey, we're handling the press. Only 5 TO's. Jackson has 2 of them
We still showed this team can throw a scoring streak together. After a terrible start we lead by 7, at least for a short time.
Total fouls is KU 11 and WV 9.
Fouls are a big problem: Lucas, Vick, Svi and Jackson all have 2. Bragg 3
Good grief: Frank 1/5; Devonte 1/6 and Jackson 1/7.
Wow, Carlton is really struggling. Hurting us actually
ESPN shows rebounds even at 18
Vick's 8 is the only thing kind of keeping us in this
We are shooting 2/13 for 8%. We probably should improve that
@wissox No, In state missed the start and only switched to ESPNNU after the Baylor game.
Hopefully ESPN will start our game on ESPNNews
@JayHawkFanToo Not heart attack Vitale. Blah
And Motley only has 5. Come on Tech.
@BeddieKU23 Good call on the size of the stadium. 25,000+ in attendance despite the storm.
I'm hoping the Syracuse/Louisville game ends in regulation. Lots of empty seats at Syracuse. Cheater Boheim is being heralded by suck-up Fran.
Come back home to KU JarMarr. No finer love than the appreciation you will get on Mt. Oread.
I sure hope we have some breathing room throughout this game. These nail biters are tough on the old ticker. RCJH
@JayHawkFanTo Way to call out the dumba__ announcer. We get Bilas tonight since Fake Fran is doing the Syracuse game. Go Red Raiders!
Now I may root for T Tech. It will be interesting to see how Baylor does at T Tech. 26/26 with 4 min in half. ESPNU Go Red Raiders
One more thought before tonight's game: Do we play the most Saturday/Monday games in the country? I would think the extra day or two of rest before playing on Tuesday or Wednesday would make a big difference, even if you are 20 years old. But, W Virginia played Saturday and has to travel to Lawrence, so it seems even.
