I sure wouldn't mind playing Coastal Carolina now. Ufff, those were tough, painful losses.
I imagined the opportunity to 3peat was rare, but it is not: since 1967 nine teams have won back to back SBs. Man, what a great time to be a Chiefs fan. Get it done Chiefs.
No way the Chiefs lose back to back season openers. I can't wait for Thursday Night.

@jayballer67 Are you a closet Colorado Buffalo fan?
Like KState, I halfway root for Colo because they are now B12, but I also don't mind when the media intensive coaches/players get put in their place. With KState, I mostly root for them to win, but I don't mind if they get their ass kicked either.
Wow, Houston has 63 new players this year. Houston doesn't look good so far against UNLV. Or UNLV is good.
Not very many competitive games today, but the FS1 6pmC UNLV v. Houston-3.5 at least lets us see our Week 3 opponent. And the ABC 6:30C TxAm-3 v. Notre Dame should be fun.
Perfect openning game. Now, let's get ready for Illinois
I'm hoping Cole Ballard plays a bunch in the 2nd half. He needs more game time if he has to step in at QB1.

Did Jalon ever run?
No, he's rolled out, but not kept the ball. Sacked once.
Anyone know where these refs are from?
The defense is stepping up now
Nice strike. Wow
Pick 6 baby
Oh shit our 2nd TO against a barely FCS team
@Gorilla72 I like the jerseys.
Alright, dialed up a sack on 4th down
Good god, no rush at all
Nice defensive stop. Nice drive. 7-0. RC
Listening to David Lawrence on the Jayhawk Radio Network. Wow, KU football is back. Love it.
If you are Jeff Grimes, do you let Jalon run the ball? I'm 100% comfortable letting Jalon sit in the pocket or maybe roll out a couple of times, but I don't see any reason for him to run QB keepers against the Mighty Lions. Let our great RBs carry the rock and let Jalon work on the timing with our great receivers, please. But, I keep hearing others say that Jalon needs to eat up yards on the ground and by air to enhance his Heisman hopes and NFL prospects.
I sure hope the ESPN+ broadcast is decent; I always have to mute the announcers about 10 minutes into the game. I greatly look forward to everyone's comments during the game. Bring on the Lions.
KU 48 Lindenwood 7 deep, deep in the 4th Q
@Crimsonorblue22 I haven't found any updates on Jason's injury. Sadly, I just read the Colts waived Jason and kept Ehlinger as their 3rd QB. Now, Jason may be claimed by another team, but after noon on Wedn the Colts could contract with Jason to be on their practice squad. Stay tuned.
@Texas-Hawk-10 My thought was to let Jalon knock the rust off, but not risk injury againt the Lions. Of course I know the Lindenwood game counts. Jeez.
I assume the Lindenwood game will be treated like an NFL exhibition game: starters the first Q, 2nd string Q2 and reserves the rest of the way. Coach Self plays the starters most of the exhibition game, which always surprises me. I fully expect that Coaches Lipold and Grimes will show some mercy at The Mercy Park stadium.
Practice squad players earn between $12,000 and $21,000 per week. Making the practice squad at least keeps a player's foot in the door. And practice squad players can be signed to active rosters by other teams. If 4th on the depth chart results in placement on the practice squad that's still a decent achievement for our former players. Unfortunately, its completely out of sight for us.
Jason Bean has survived the first cut by the Colts. BYU QB Slovis was cut. I have my fingers crossed that Jason sticks with the Colts, probably on the practice squad. But, the Colts still have Anthony Richardson, Joe Flacco and Sam Ehlinger ahead of Jason.

The FCS games are not always added years in advance. KU currently has their FBS non-confernce schedule set through 2032 and have their FCS games scheduled from 2026-2029. KU currently doesn't have an FCS game scheduled from next season yet.
That reminds me of the basketball exhibition game with a Kansas small college team. I love that game. I love how hard the small college players play in our first game.
Can anyone explain how this game got on KU's schedule? Of course schedules are made years in advance, but the Lions were NAIA until 2022 and are just now FCS in the Ohio Valley Conference. 3-4 years ago, I remember wishing for an openning game like this, but now I just don't see any benefit. I was also remembering this morning the Beaty years when the starting QB wasn't announced until game time. It's just amazing what a transition Coach Liepold and staff have made to our program.
I see our former RB, Velton Gardner is in the news. I was disappointed when he left KU and wish him much success at Texas.
Jason Bean is finally in the game and has driven the ball from inside the 10 to the 5 yd line. Looks way better than Ehlinger. Better than Richardson too.
@Crimsonorblue22 No, after the Chiefs loss, I forgot about the Colts' game.
Jason Bean is getting a decent amount of PT for the Colts; 7/9, 94 yds yesterday. Jason should get a lot of reps in Indy's final Exh game against the Bengals on Thurs. 7PM, but the Chiefs also play Thurs. at 7:20 for anyone willing to watch the unknown QBs the Chiefs will play. I also saw Kwamie Lassiter and Khalil Herbert in the Bears/Bengals game. So fun to see former Jayhawks in the NFL.
I just love Kevin Young's effort. Yes, Vick was the man last night. Things were very rough under the basket; Kevin was getting hammered. General admission tickets are just $10 and the ushers don't care where you sit. Funny, the ticket prices at the window start at $150. But, $10 to enter and sit anywhere you want. Koch arena is very nice and some of the WSU crowd supported KU.
@jayballer67 Jason is still my hero. Where in the hell would last year's team have been if Jason had stayed with his initial decision to forgo playing? I hope he sticks with the Colts, but if not at least he'll get a chance to show his skills in the UFL.
Billy Preston looked very good. I just love watching Frank set up the defender for the blow by layup.
Forget my post about good FT shooting. Jeez, this Elam ending sucks.
Wow, Frank Mason to the rim, again and again.
@Crimsonorblue22 Yeah Frank looks good; scoring well. I love a team that makes FTs. Mass must be shooting 90% at the line. I always loved Kevin's effort. Preston looks good too.
Frank looks pretty heavy. But not Sherron Collins heavy.
The TBT website shows you may watch games from it. KU plays at 7 Saturday and I don't see the game showing anywhere else. I guess I'll know at 7:05 if the website actually broadcasts the game. Good luck Jayhawk fans. I'm excited to see Frank again.
Mass St plays the Colorado St team at 7pm Saturday in Wichita. I haven't seen any details on broadcasts. But, KU fans in the Wichita need to show up and support our guys. The tournament uses the Elam Ending instead of the time clock for ending the game. The game ends when either team reaches a certain score determined by adding 8 pts to the team leading in the 4th Q. So, no stalling or 4 corners BS by the leading team at the end of the game.
KU Football with five first place media votes and predicted 4th, but there's plenty of optimism for a much better season for KU. I looked back to the 2020 season, Coach Miles' last, when KU finished 0/9 with the Texas game (thankfully) cancelled. Then, Coach Lipold's first season in 2021 when KU finished 2/10 with that big win over Texas. I just can't believe Coach Lipold and staff (17wins/38gms.) have elevated our program so quickly when coaches Gill (5/19), Weis (5/22), Bowen (1/7), Beaty (6/42) and Miles (3/18) couldn't put competitive teams on the field. I can't wait for Aug 29 when KU takes on the Lindenwood Lions.
@FarmerJayhawk Thanks, I'm going to check out NASCAR.
OK, I'll start: 1. KU Football, 2. KU Basketball, 3. KC Chiefs, 4. USA Olympics-Track & Field. Oh yea, and watching any game where Kentucky and Duke basketball are losing.
Funding smunding, if the Chiefs move to Kansas all I want to do is stand on State Line Road, drop trou and show my bare butt to all of Missouri.
Waah, waah, waah Jackson County Missouri and Missouri politicians decrying the Kansas legislature's STAR Bonds to try to lure the Chiefs to Wyndotte County. I wonder what percentage of Chiefs' staff and players already live in Kansas. Imagine a Sofi-like stadium next to the Kansas Speedway. It's fun to think about. My junior high self would have challenged: Come on Missery do something about it.
I'm wondering if anyone has seen a projected depth chart? Or, is someone brave enough to put one together? I'm ready to get to know our guys during these dog days of summer.
The Terrence Shannon trial in Lawrence this week isn't getting very much notice, but I read that both Dickinson and McCullar testified. The charged offense occur in a crowded Lawrence club and both Dickinson and McCullar were there and were called to testify but only as witnesses who didn't see anything. The trial should be over this week.
I was sure hoping Danny Manning would find his way back to KU. I didn't like seeing him coaching at Louisville, so I guess Colorado is alright. At least he'll get to return to AFH; that will be fun.
