My ongoing rant for Silvio may never be answered.
Gawd we need Silvio cleared yesterday. What little the NCAA has responded to concerning the whole ineligibility, reinstatement plan is they will stall and claim they will "review" the request. We all know what "review" means. Before, I thought there was a chance. So, now there is really no choice. If you play Silvio and we win the B12, the NCAA is holding KU hostage. They will rule to vacate the wins. Or, Self keeps him on the bench and they simply do not rule at all. They are controlling this by being the good guy, but then when it comes to ruling, they have the power to rule against KU as they deem necessary. This is too much power. I really believe KU should have the option to play him and if they rule against KU, no wins should be vacated. He is simply declared ineligible. I guarantee you if KU plays Silvio, the NCAA will kill themselves to rule him ineligible. But IF Self keeps him on the bench, and the evidence shows there was NO violations, KU needs to sue the NCAA for abuse of power, liable, and slander. You who claim KU is to blame are giving the NCAA way too much credit. They are the authority and do govern this matter. KU has little to no way of acting within any guidelines. The NCAA has way too much power in these matters. Is it KU's fault the NCAA is unable to investigate and make a ruling within a reasonable amount of time? There's a lot of precedence that says KU may have a way to play him, but can and will most likely be held accountable for any actions against the NCAA at this point.
KU is screwed whether he plays or not. This brings up another question. I really don't understand how the FBI has any jurisdiction with college bball violations. I didn't realize the NCAA was a federal entity or at least fell within federal laws. The NCAA is capable of interviewing ADIDAS. They don't have enough teeth to bite and draw blood. So, they some how utlitze the FBI? Did ADIDAS commit a federal crime? Who is the victim? The NCAA? KU? They ruled KU was the victim, but Self is holding Silvio out? The real criminals were sentenced and justice was served. But now the NCAA wants to apply their punishment. So, not only do they use the FBI, but they also used the Grand Jury to do their job too. This is insane abuse, fraud, and flat out lunacy.
I'm beating a silent drum. I will never understand how the NCAA is using information the judge clearly declared as inadmissible. Also, the judge in the Grand Jury declared programs, coaches, and players were not on trial. He made it crystal clear the ADIDAS defendants were on trial and they were found guilty. The sleazy lawyer plays the KU card and now all that information is being used against KU. I don't understand how the NCAA can be allowed to use information gathered by the FBI. The FBI did their job and now they want to use the FBI's evidence. All the manpower, resources, and investigations all belong to the FBI, not the NCAA.

Self needs to go with his best small and big ball lineups. This team doesn't seem capable of making the necessary adjustments and turning corners. We've all played with various line-ups.

I don't think Seth Davis would make a ridiculous claim if he didn't have a solid lead or source. This may or may not be anything, but's the most credible tweet yet by a fairly reputable bball analyst.

Again, much like HEM, I'd agree with you about the NCAA, but let's be consistent before we start throwing stones and criticizing KU. Let's make sure other top programs are investigated too.
I think what I would tend to say about your point of Self and KU is maybe they don't do a better job of hiding what they may try to do. I'd say maybe careless. But other programs are maybe better at what is wrong with bball right now.

I went back and watched the game and was able to pick details from the game better.
Fran is a biased azz and ESPN needs to reprimand his play calling. He became a regular sideline referee. Geez, he was calling everything against KU.

@BShark We can only hope these top teams beat each other up during the season. KU must take advantage. I can see ISU and TT splitting games. KU should split with ISU. TT is going to be tough in Lubbock. But they are due a few bad games. Baylor might beat TT in Waco.

The scary fact is the Grand Jury found the Adidas clients guilty. Emmert is also threatening 'swift' action against teams once it's over. But SDS should get to play for 'time served,' not for time to be served in the future.
So, not only has KU sat SDS, Emmert and the NCAA may very come right behind and impose additional punishment after the year. Self and KU is hoping that if there are any violations from the investigations they will take "time served" into consideration. But here is our problem. If they are not going to rule by F4, nor are they going to anytime soon, it appears SDS will not play this season.
This is pure BULLSHIT. The NCAA is the biggest bunch of idiots in college sports. They are holding SDS and KU hostage plain and simple. We are doomed either way. We play him and they find violations, we're screwed. We don't play him and they wait until maybe after the F4 were screwed. So...play him NOW. They are go to punish after the season and possibly well after SDS is gone. We might as well make the most of the season. He has sat more than enough games for any punishment and that's a fact.
Emmert is making an example of KU. He is victimizing KU, SDS, and Self just because he can. The NCAA is a bunch of unfair morons. You can't do this when this is clearly in every program. You can't punish a few schools without a thorough investigation into every top 25 program in the country. Also, other schools have already ENRONED their evidence. We can only hope there are wiretaps of all corrupt programs that will indict them all. Also, Under Armour was mentioned as attempting to pay SDS before he left to KU. How can KU be responsible for Adidas paying Under Armour back? This is plain stupid. Why would KU or Adidas pay Under Armour back for SDS committing to KU what is there to pay? SDS didn't receive any money. KU and Adidas should've told Under Armour not our problem. How could they punish SDS for taking money from a program that offered him to play, but he didn't stay? I'd take the money and run too. IF a program is that stupid and desperate, the kids should take their money and run. SDS chose KU, not the other way around. There was no need to pay him to KU.
This is so shitty. They did nothing to Zona and Miller for allegedly paying Ayton $100,000. What the hell? Where is that investigation?

I thought maybe something might motivate the fans. I wish Self would give this speech. I know this video is overdone but it seemed we went through something similar and wound up winning the conference. KU has been here before.

If Ochai can step on the court any game, let's see how we develop with Big Mac. Let's see how the shooting improves. Self loves that minimal rotation of 7-8 players. My guess is we will see a lot of small ball and Lightfoot gets some Doke mins. I don't see Self changing much. Lightfoot will give us FTs. He is capable of keeping the defense honest too.

For an athlete to receive a standard redshirt, the NCAA requires that player not be involved in any competition for the year he is redshirted. Any amount of competition time, even 1 minute on a basketball court during a regular season game, for example, counts as a season of eligibility.
Redshirted athletes are allowed to travel, practice and even dress for competition for their team during their redshirt season, but the minute they step on the playing field, they lose their redshirt status and use a season of eligibility.
