@mayjay Now you may have point there if you want to talk about social issues and crime, haha. However, you would think the folks, planners, or founders of Oklahoma University would've thought twice about the "Sooners." I would've went with "Boomers." At least they were real honest people that came by their land according the rules of the Land Run.

I'd be glad to discuss Oklahoma history with you. I'm a transplant from Kansas to Oklahoma, but when you live and work with them, and you see the word "SOONERS" everywhere you go, I can't stop but think of a bunch of land thieves, sorry if that struck a chord, or maybe you have Oklahoma ties. At least my comment is factual. Maybe after the OU/KU football game, I got my hackles raised a bit.

Dok's back... • Dec 30, 2017 06:26 PM

@Fightsongwriter I'm no official and not too sure about the ruling of that call, but I didn't think you could 'block out' by walking your man back. I know you can turn and block, but to walk your man especially when he's in the air, makes me think that should have been a foul on Davis. He created a very dangerous situation by taking Dok's legs out from underneath him. Dok was already in the air when Davis was backing him out. There's a difference in blocking out and backing your man out.

I'd like to hear the official ruling on blocking and backing a man out of the lane. I'm not saying Dok did the right thing either, but I don't think you can unilaterally turn and start backing up to an opponent in the attempt to 'box out.' I think some coaches may teach this wrong to players.
I love this video and think it's the closest to a good fundamental block out. I've seen guys turn and walk under opponents only for the 'block out' to be called for a foul. You have to establish position. Davis did not establish position. He turned immediately after the shot, and started walking backwards, under Dok.

I do think Dok has got to learn how to better respond to rebounds when he is 5-10' from the rim. But I still don't think it was a foul on Dok, but rather a foul on Davis for not establishing clear position, and he took Dok's feet out from underneath him. I think it's the same principle foul to a dunk. You can't take a guys legs from underneath or undercut him in the air. For what's it's worth, I played bball for a long time and even some college. And yes, I do know how to rebound, but sometimes it's easy to forget those fundamental details of bball.

New Zone More Tricky That It Seems? • Dec 30, 2017 06:17 PM

Now that zone was awesome. Stupid was completely unprepared and had no idea how to attack it. They had a big with a 7'9 wing span, was pretty much dominating the rim, but he is a horrible coach. He is out of his league and has no idea how to coach up big men. Sorry, but this game caused me to lose ALL bball respect for the one UT calls their head coach. He's worse than Barnes, and is a complete downgrade. What a moron. What was even more funny was how he went zone after Self went zone. He was clearly coaching from Self's game plan. Smart was exposed last night for who and what he truly is, a mid-major coach.

Texas Longhorns - Friday - 8 pm - ESPN2 • Dec 30, 2017 06:07 PM

@Fightsongwriter I lived in DFW for 12 yrs and for the most part, loved living there. It's a great state and Austin is a great city too, but those fans are absolute idiots. I've never seen such ignorant and obnoxious fans, next to the OU football faithless.

You watch, if OU loses to Georgia, not one OU fan will meet them at Will Rogers Airport. I work with Pokes and Thieves, yes, Sooners are a bunch of land thieves. Few people understand the true history of the Land Run. This is why they added Boomer, this way they don't seem like a bunch of thieves. I bet most of the land in Oklahoma is owned by a bunch of people who cheated, and it cracks me up to think how much pride they have in stealing land.

Dok's back... • Dec 30, 2017 05:59 PM

@REHawk Yea, love the clean "blocks" all by Bamba. The stupid refs allowed at least one goal tend. I definitely know that last drive by Svi was a goal tend. I think the refs allowed Shaka Stupid to influence their calls, and they allowed the obnoxious Steer crowd to swallow their whistles. The UT players mauled our guys pretty much the entire game. The only right call was the "T" on the Lil bald Beeotch. Higgins should've gave him a second too, but was hesitant with the ridiculous UT Steers.

Did you see that? • Dec 30, 2017 06:17 AM

This is for the B12 compliments of Johnny Cash...
Yes, the Sous is coming and he's comin' real fast...Loved how Jay Bilas defended the NCAA. Did you hear what he said, "it's not deliberate...the holiday just delayed them...they should make a decision real soon." I'm going to hold you to that Jay Bilas. IF they screw us like they've done with other players, I want to hear your explanation.

Good night and until we meet again, HAPPY NEW

Did you see that? • Dec 30, 2017 06:07 AM

@DoubleDD HELLS YEAH, AND IT LOOKED GOOD TOO. Love me some burnt orange BEEEVO, and it tastes GOOOOOOOOOOD.

Texas Longhorns - Friday - 8 pm - ESPN2 • Dec 30, 2017 06:01 AM

@kjayhawks Yes, GOAL TENDING. They didn't call it once. Why didn't the Beeotch Steer pitch a bitch session about that little gem. They mauled us ALL damn night.

Texas Longhorns - Friday - 8 pm - ESPN2 • Dec 30, 2017 05:56 AM

SHAKA SMART IS A LIL' BEEOTCH. He was in the damn bonus when he threw his little bitch fit about fouls and to make him look more like a stupid wuss, he drew a technical for his idiotic tantrum. Jay Bilas was wrong about John Higgins. Higgins actually gave Shaka Stupid, a not so Smart "T". What the hell more did he want? He's damn lucky Higgins didn't T him a second. Those stupid STEER Fans are the most obnoxious people I know.

Texas Longhorns - Friday - 8 pm - ESPN2 • Dec 30, 2017 03:10 AM

@KirkIsMyHinrich I think he might just be on the hot seat if this year does not live up to the Bears average year. You know, blow the B12, and then have a decent 1-2 wins in B12 tourney and call yourselves the pretend B12 Champions.

Texas Longhorns - Friday - 8 pm - ESPN2 • Dec 30, 2017 03:07 AM

Drew is a fair recruiter, but his Xs and Os have always been lacking. I think he would make a great assistant some where that has an opening. Scotty is a little odd. I have no ill will, but he's a strange dude. I'm sure if he knew me, he'd think me odd too. hehe

Big 12 down • Dec 29, 2017 11:18 PM

@JayHawkFanToo haha...Whodathunkit...the Smart Flop, WOW. Not once, but twice, and against Harden of all people. That's a feat in and of itself for Smart. Smart just single handedly won that game for the Celts in a matter of secs and never handled the ball.

Texas Longhorns - Friday - 8 pm - ESPN2 • Dec 29, 2017 11:05 PM

@BeddieKU23 I read a UT thread and they don't think he will be 100% with his wrist?

Texas Longhorns - Friday - 8 pm - ESPN2 • Dec 29, 2017 06:43 PM

@wrwlumpy She still looks much better in Blue with some Crimson. That nasty orange does nothing for her hair. The blue shirt definitely brings out the obvious.

When the eff are we getting Billy?!?! • Dec 29, 2017 06:37 PM

@Jayballer54 Love Malik to death. But as much as the sitting may have done for him, it has also hurt him too. Again, my guess is, he will 'test the waters' and realize his stock is no where near where it needs to be at this point in his career. But again, we all know what happens with these guys too.

When the eff are we getting Billy?!?! • Dec 29, 2017 06:34 PM

I've got an odd feeling that Billy Preston may just stay another year, if we can get him on the court. We all know he will not get good looks from the scouts. He hasn't done enough. He will fade into mediocrity if he jumps after this season. He would be 'smart' to stay one more year regardless of what happens with this mess. If he does, we will be HIGHLY touted as the #1 team in the nation and a strong F4 contender. He will likely go to the workouts, like Svi, and then realize he needs work. But if he translates well, he may be taken at some level in the draft.

Big 12 down • Dec 29, 2017 06:28 PM

@JayHawkFanToo Tubby just never quite recovered after UK, and just didn't translate. Dixon is resonating and this is his breakout year as a B12 coach. I see him only getting better. We will be competing for recruits in Texas with Dixon at TCU. Once again, a football school making noise in bball. IT can be done. If a football school can be as good in bball, then a bball school can be good in football, hello Zenger. Watch what other programs are doing in their departments. They expanding their school's image by getting good coaches. If they can do it, you can do it too. NOW, do it, and do it soon.
Hell, look at OU Kruger and Lincoln. It can be done.

Big 12 down • Dec 29, 2017 06:22 PM

@dylans Agree with Hoiberg, but Prohm has been a fair fix for now. I see them getting someone of Hoiberg's coaching prowess soon.

Big 12 down • Dec 29, 2017 06:05 PM

@Jayballer54 I agree about the competition. We've had and have some soft coaching. I really think we've been hurt by not being challenged over the years with some stiff competition. We've only had marquee players over the years, but coaching has been lacking.
Many may not like Kruger, but I saw OU getting Kruger from Las Vegas way before he arrived in Norman. Kruger was a great grab by OU and the best coach, next to Billy Tubbs. The Dixon grab was good, but didn't know how he would translate in the B12. Huggy is tough as nails, and they have actually made KU better. Now, we have ISU, OSU, KSU, and UT that are all 'down' with coaching. I was really hoping that Brad Underwood would stay around and disappointed when he bailed so early. I'd like to see Arkansas join the B12. They have really improved over the last few years.

I've never been a Shaka fan, and it wasn't the whole VCU/KU thing. I blame KU, and have never given Shaka any credit for that win. KU made Shaka's career after that stupid win. Unfortunately, KU has given Hurley and ASU new life. How about a B12 team getting Bobby Hurley as a head coach? Maybe KSU or OSU? Hurley does come from some bball pedigree. Another good get for the B12 if he ever became available from UCLA would be Steve Alford. It would be ironic if he went to TT, haha following Bobby Knight, but hopefully with better success. I think Jim Larranaga would be a good grab for a B12 school too.

I digress...thanks for the coaching inspiration that could make the B12 even better.

Texas Longhorns - Friday - 8 pm - ESPN2 • Dec 29, 2017 05:21 PM

Tonight is game night, but let's face it. We are really focused on SDeSousa. We need to give him a nickname. I was thinking Sous, as a play on Zeus? Okay, a little corny, but the more I watch this kid, the more I like him. He reminds me of Shady. He plays with poise and is explosive. He needs some Hudyizing, and I believe he can be every bit as good, if maybe not better than Shady. The team is going to be nasty next year. We AIN'T seen nuttin' yet.

Gawd, its feeling more and more like Alexander every day.

Big 12 down • Dec 28, 2017 04:57 PM

@Jayballer54 I"ve always respected Dixon from afar. BUT, his coaching and the fact that he's a Big East transplant is a big part too. Don't sell the B12 short either. DIxon came to the B12 for obvious reasons. It was a win, win for Dixon and the B12.

Have a verry Merry Rock Chalk Jayhawk Christmas. And a very happy Crimson and Blue New Year!

Now let's cook us some BEVO!!

I'm just not convinced • Dec 24, 2017 07:45 PM

I thought the boyz did a pretty good job on Travis.

@approxinfinity No pouting or crying just hoping the NCAA does right by a young man that is CLEAN, and clears him to play asap. He has worked so hard for this opportunity. Now let's watch as the NCAA does what they do best...smh.

Silvio is cleared! • Dec 23, 2017 09:16 PM

I hope everyone realizes he signed with KU. He has always been welcomed. I prefer to congratulate him on playing in his first KU game, and WIN.

Silvio is cleared! • Dec 23, 2017 09:11 PM

@chriz I hope just a quick 'in-formality.' I hope it's opened and closed. I hope they clear a young man who has worked hard to earn the right to play in college.

Silvio is cleared! • Dec 23, 2017 08:58 PM

@SkinnyKansas Appreciate your optimism, but you do know how the NCAA has handled many of the past players, especially past KU players. I won't list them, but if you insist on "downers," then you either have a really short memory, or you're really super optimistic. I prefer to think you have more optimism in an organization that has a very poor record of handling players.

However, I do hope your optimism is truly realistic because it will only be in KU's favor. So, all we know is that Silvio is 'cleared' to join, and at best practice, until completely 'cleared' by the NCAA from his amateurism. So, if you think being a 'downer' is waiting until he is in uniform and playing in his first game, then I'm a 'downer.'

Silvio is cleared! • Dec 23, 2017 03:47 AM

@Crimsonorblue22 I understand his amateurism is now being evaluated by the NCAA? Here we go...Let's see what they find or claim about his eligibility. Its like a home inspection. They have to find something to be worked.

How was Sam I Am • Dec 21, 2017 10:06 PM

@BShark Greene did have a pretty stroke

How was Sam I Am • Dec 21, 2017 08:15 PM

@BShark I think my Greene reference was more toward his offense and shooting. When Cunliffe pulled up with the three, it was similar to Greene. If Cunliffe's D translates, he will be much better than Greene.

Thoughts on the game, plus Thursday • Dec 21, 2017 08:12 PM

This team needs to come ready to grind. Once Preston and DeSousa are in the mix, Self may then go back to a more typical Self-ish hi-lo type game which wins games. I think it's going to be a bit of a grind for half, if not most of the game tonight against the trees. If the KU guards are flat, it's going to be a long night on the West coast.

So nothing yet? • Dec 20, 2017 03:34 AM

@wilson Bingo...this is where the big chill happens by the NCAA. They've already frozen or will stall Preston, and now they will sit on Silvio's eligibility. Once KU completes it's investigation, the NCAA will then have to provide a final ruling. I guarantee you they will take as much time as KU took with Billy.

I will be shocked if Preston and Silvio are cleared quickly.

So nothing yet? • Dec 20, 2017 03:30 AM

@jayballer54 Makes some sense. Self has all but said it.

How was Sam I Am • Dec 20, 2017 03:18 AM

@DanR Brannen Greene, a little.

We Won • Dec 17, 2017 10:18 PM

@KUSTEVE Yeah, but Vandy? In Tempe? Not a good showing by ASU. We all know what the pattern to a loss looks like. I expect ASU to go down in a game or two. I don't see them keeping this pace. I'm not saying ASU isn't a good team. I'm simply saying they will not go the distance.

Get Out Your Ka-Bars, Men • Dec 17, 2017 07:48 PM

The beast just got poked. He's hungry too.

We Won • Dec 17, 2017 07:46 PM

With my first post above, I hope to see Billy back, and Silvio on campus any day now.

We Won • Dec 17, 2017 07:40 PM

Don't look now, but Vandy is up big on ASU. I knew they weren't #5. This is the problem with ESPN, tourney rankings, and idiot Lunardi. You don't rank a team based on one lightening strike, one game, and one win. They are prematurely way too high. But, because it was KU at AFH, well by gawd, they should be ranked in the top 5. They even considered #1 for ASU. This shows you how ridiculous the whole system and the so-called experts are when it comes to bball. You have the pompous windbag Seth Greenberg saying that KU may not even win the B12, this early? They haven't even played a B12 game, MORONS all. I will even admit that KU may have been ranked too high, but to drop them down to a double digit ranking is ludicrious. I could see them around the 8-9 mark roughly. I know the 2 game losing streak hurt, but it's too early to move teams this much in the season.
Oh and btw, the so-called experts are now trying to justify their stupid decision by calling the win, "barely." Yes, "barely," but it's a road win in a difficult environment, against a fairly good team, and Nebraska had all hands on deck against KU. I'd say it's a great road win with 2 loses already threatening their season. If KU lost to Nebraska, KU drops out of the top 25, GUARANTEED by the experts. But it's their job to create "madness."

Trae Young • Dec 17, 2017 04:48 AM

@REHawk We can't get Preston and Silvio fast enough.

Trae Young • Dec 17, 2017 04:42 AM

I just watched the OU/WSU game. I know one thing, WSU is not a #3 team. But WSU should have beaten OU. WSU had the edge inside, but OU had just enough firepower to keep the lead. Both teams were sloppy. All OU has is TY. And lastly, CF is useless. Lattin and McNeace are poor inside players. The other frosh, Manek was able to support Young and if Manek fails, WSU wins this game. OU relies way too much on the Trae, haha, pun intended.

Trae Young • Dec 17, 2017 03:31 AM

@Crimsonorblue22 Someone needs to give him a snickers bar. What a diva.

Do we end the losing streak tomm? • Dec 17, 2017 03:19 AM

I don't know about the rest of you, but I'm sick of giving mediocre programs arguments for early talks of being in the tourney. I definitely don't want to punch anymore tickets. The guys need to start that up hill climb, because WVU and OU are looking to dethrone. Young Trae will love to win the B12 with OU. Let's hope the guys are back in form as they cruise into conference play. I've got a feeling Young will have a KD type game against us, and we still sweep OU.

Do we end the losing streak tomm? • Dec 17, 2017 03:15 AM

@BShark And again, because they beat us, they will have a strong argument come committee time. They may be a very low seed, but because they beat KU, there will be an argument. I guarantee you ASU gets in because they love Bobby Hurley for obvious reasons.

Do we end the losing streak tomm? • Dec 17, 2017 03:12 AM

@kjayhawks I knew Washington would go down. No way that lightening strikes twice. The KU game will be their best game all year. I'll go further, they don't make the tourney. But because they beat KU, they'll sneak into the tourney.

I'll say the same about ASU. They are good, but doubt they do much better for the rest of the year. I hope they enjoy their very early ranking. It won't last.

Whew...a little too close for comfort. How about Svi? Mr Clutch

Do we end the losing streak tomm? • Dec 16, 2017 01:40 PM

Hell yes we end the losing streak. IF not, that will just about drop KU completely out of the top 25 and once again vault another team into the top 25. What a horrible nightmare. This KU nightmare will give KU critics so much gratification. So, hell yes, it ends NOW.

@jaybate-1.0 If he does, I prefer...(
