@KUSTEVE I too like what Cunliffe will bring. He's got to bring something better than what they've had up to this point. I'm really hopeful for this Nebraska game. I hope to see Cunliffe provide some valuable contributions that will make the bball pundits pause, and say, "Uh oh, looks like KU will get their act together afterall."

I just heard Seth Greenberg say that KU will NOT win the B12. I hope KU makes that pompous windbag eat his words. Every year some so-called bball expert goes against Self and Co. I hope Self lives up to his HOFA, and makes Greenberg eat his stupid comments.

The bball analysts are sure coming out of the woodwork to comment on the current bball climate. Unfortunately, KU is not only fulfilling their "expectations," but giving them all negative fodder for their columns. I've never heard of some of these sports columnists. I love how they are promoting ASU at KU's expense. Funny how KU is pretty much irrelevant, until they lose and give another team the spotlight. I like what Josh Jackson said, "It will never happen again!" I'm gonna put myself out there and say it too. I just can't believe 1 game gives a mediocre team a very early 1 seed. The columnist I read was Jerry Palm? Who the hell is Jerry Palm? But like he wrote, the current landscape may change in March, but they all think it's fun to watch teams like KU lose. I hope the guys use this humiliation as inspiration to turn things around now. I gotta feeling we will lose a few more games, but this could take the same direction Manning and Co took in 1988. Anyone remember their record? I think we all remember the outcome. I don't plan to read anymore negative articles against KU. I'm sick of it.

Speaking of breaks...any more word on Silvio? I know the tweet indicated an early enrollment, but was the score enough? I just don't know how quickly a kid can jump from high school right into D1 play. He's big enough and seems skilled enough. Hopefully it will all come together for good. This team can use a nice game to reinvigorate something inside. Maybe Silvio and Cunliffe will be that little extra help.

Vent Here.... • Dec 12, 2017 04:05 AM

Horribly disappointed and we are not use to this, but the good news is that its really early in the season. They have time to decide what they want to do going forward. They need some hunger. They need some stark, raving, mad dog starving desire to win. These are some nasty lumps, but we just learned momentum can swing really fast.

They're capable, now the question is can they play up to their much higher capability? We shall see.

Stop telling me Lightfoot is... • Dec 10, 2017 10:01 PM

@justanotherfan What did the ASU game expose? Just curious.

@HawkChamp Time will tell what these players want. Doesn't appear they know what they want.

@HawkChamp I don't see much changing or getting fixed any time soon.

I hope Cunliffe can provide something that is lacking. If not, it's going to be a LONG year.

Games Tonight (Dec 5) • Dec 07, 2017 05:58 AM

Gawd, I'm SO pissed right now and Self better not come out with any of his stupid curt comments about the game. The HOF coach got his ass outcoached, sorry, but the coaching or scouting for this game was a complete failure.

Games Tonight (Dec 5) • Dec 07, 2017 05:56 AM

@jaybate-1.0 Garrett has shown some flashes, but nothing that makes him anywhere near a freshman sensation.
Graham may have one of the most inconsistent years at KU.
Who is Newman?
Hell...even Lightfoot showed some life.
Doke looked panicked most of the game.
Young may have been the best player tonight in terms of effort.

Games Tonight (Dec 5) • Dec 07, 2017 05:53 AM

@Crimsonorblue22 What defense? It was anything but defense.

Games Tonight (Dec 5) • Dec 07, 2017 05:47 AM

2-3 zone is Bill Self's kryptonite. They looked horrible. Vick was the absolute ounce of life.

However, Washington experienced lightening in a bottle. They won't do it again all year. Every damn team does this to KU. Teams play up and KU plays down. It's amazing every year to watch it happen. Washington had to be that team.

Holiday Hoops • Nov 24, 2017 03:33 AM

No offense to Young Trey...but when he faces equal or greater talent, will he or can he take his game up a level? We shall see. We all know he's good and 'legit,' but can he find consistency? I think comparing him to Buddy is too illegit.

Incoming possible commits • Nov 24, 2017 03:10 AM

The question isn't can we get recruits, but at this point can Beaty and company keep them committed? Also, what recruits we get, can they compete in the B12? Can they compete against the OU 4-5 star talent? Recruiting talent is the problem. If we keep this losing record year after year, we can't even keep 3-star recruits. How ugly can this get before it gets better? I'd say this year is pretty much as ugly as it can possibly get, please stop the bleeding.

Fire Beatty. Fire him now. • Nov 23, 2017 01:12 AM

@nuleafjhawk I agree with you, but how do you know Mayflower wasn't chirping insults to the KU captains? How do we really know how the whole handshake thing transpired? We will really never know. Of course, the rumor is they 'planned' the whole stupid mess.
But here's my question, do you really think the CAPTAINS of all people could be that stupid to not shake the hand of the highly favored team.? You're in last place, why in the hell would you add insult to freakin' injury by doing something so stupid?
If they did plan the whole handshake incident at the coin toss, then not only are we a losing football team, BUT a stupid team of players, CAPTAINS, no less...Either way our football team couldn't get any more RIDICULOUS. If the players were responsible, why did Beaty apologize? Why not the players? This tells me that Beaty stood up for the players and took this on himself.
Baker Mayfield is a sh!thead. He was pulled over for a DUI in Arkansas. They had to chase him down on foot and tackle him. The OU program swept it under the OU rug. This is what they do for their players at all costs to win. I think Mayfield instigated and agitated the whole mess. We'll never know what transpired before that coin toss. OU fans are blaming the KU players. So, again, not only are we a terrible football team, but we are a stupid football team.

(

I think it was a cheap shot by the police. Mean police slighted Mr OU football QB. You don't and won't ever hear the obnoxious OU fans talk about their precious QB. They know how he is and yet they blame KU players. No, this is all BM.

Let's get at least one more.

@BShark Awesome and even the Rock Chalk chant by the College Park students, and supporters.

@JayHawkFanToo I guess in a round about way, that's what I'm asking. If the NCAA is in fact weighing in, he may be out for a while.

@mayjay LOL...we're so bad, we make bad teams look...not bad.(

Fire Beatty. Fire him now. • Nov 19, 2017 08:15 PM

@HighEliteMajor I like your suggestion, but who do you go to from here? KU would have to be extremely intentional in the next coaching search. We are getting desperate and already at the bottom of the barrel. How do we go up and convince a competitive coach to coach the KU football program? At this point, I'd take a coach that could recruit a competitive team. Beaty had a chance to win one and maybe two more games, but blew it. Correct me if I'm wrong, but 2-3 wins is NOT too much for this program. Maybe under Beaty, but surely there is a coach that can put a game plan together to beat a winless BU team. We also had a chance against Texas and possibly KState.

Fire Beatty. Fire him now. • Nov 19, 2017 07:59 PM

If you are the football conference champions, your QB should lead the way in every way. He of all people should show why they are champions. IF KU slighted the Heisman cry baby, he should grow up and lead. I want to know if he was taunting the captains at midfield with insults during the coin flip. My guess is, he was talking some smack and trying to get some kind of response. They may have ignored him and inadvertently failed to shake his hand. I don't think the KU players were that stupid to add insult to injury by deliberately contributing to this mess. Not only did Mayflower act stupid, but he continued to act like a moron. The cheap shot may have been a response to the coin flip. But KU will likely never say if it started at the coin toss.

BTW...If he wants KU to stick with basketball, then he should tell Lon Kruger and the OU basketball team to stick with football? Doesn't that converse comment make sense and warrant at least for him to consider. Or better yet, maybe he should apologize for equally insulting his own basketball program and all the OU sports by implying that football is the only sport at OU.

Typical American sports to condone this behavior and thus teach kids it's ok to act like an idiot as long as you are a good player, or winner. I wonder if Lincoln will bench him during the next game for his behavior? Or reprimand him for making the program look horrible? I doubt it, because his job is on the line too to win a NC. Oh wait, he apologized.

I read in the pre-game board with NDSt that it was minor? Hit a curb? A three game suspension doesn't sound like a curb. How much damage does a curb do to a vehicle that calls for a three game suspension and "...no update" from HCBS after the game? Here we go on the merry-go-round. Where it stops nobody knows.

This is ridiculous and how in the hell does he get an impermissible car? I saw Blue Chips, but GEESH, really? Once again, like many of the others ie. Alexander, the program is slowly separating itself from BP. It's almost as if they see the writing on the wall.

Anyone have any REAL insight to this mess?

@BShark If Romeo is ALL IU, why not just commit already? He will be all IU bball. Lil Miller has already gone all out and put his cards on the recruiting table. Almost in a desperate way.
I'll tell you why. Romeo is waiting to see what Vick does. If Vick stays Romeo is IU and if Vick jumps, Romeo is a Jayhawk. Why drag this mess out. If you are Indiana Mr Basketball and you're the man, you commit. Romeo is no dummy and he sees a good thing at KU. Either way, KU will be...KU.

How many all state Mr BBall players has KU landed over the years? Can anyone name them? La Frentz, Collison, Ellis, Heinrich, Grimes(?) ... Any of our Chicago players? I hope Romeo understands this concept. I could be wrong, and the "Crystal ball" may be right, but something tells me this kid is looking hard at KU.
Some might even think that Grimes coming may discourage Romeo, but Grimes is a 1-2, 3 and Romeo is mostly a 3? We could use a solid 3.

UNC Placed On Heavy Probation From NCAA! • Oct 16, 2017 03:26 AM

Roy just went and spit into the river after this NCAA decision. Good job Roy. You continue to lose my respect with each issue that your program endures. Oh, you're taking "plausible deniability"? Ok...that's ok, you pretend and allow those fake classes. You continue to crank out those ignorant, poorly educated players at UNC. Wow, Dean Smith would be proud of you. I thought Roy was a good ol' boy and cared about the game of basketball. This doesn't say much about your program and your players Roy. I would raise hell and demand that your players be given high academic standards. Wait, you're UNC...never mind.

But it's the NCAA? Wrong. The coaching staff, AD, and others knew this was taking place. You keep winning those NCs Roy.

Are we done recruiting? • Oct 15, 2017 01:42 AM

HELL NO. Not if Devon Dotson has anything to do with it. Love this kid's attitude to go get other recruits.

Already leading like a point guard. Go get 'em and bring 'em to the Phog. Get your team and bring a NC to Lawrence.

John Calipari learns of the NCAA scandle and the possibility of being investigated soon.

Self calms Jayhawk fears about the FBI. • Oct 15, 2017 01:13 AM

Self is reaping the reward of maintaining a tight ship. Cal has had nothing in his program. Not a single issue, not even a player problem. He may never get caught and nothing may ever be proven, but I will give him this, he is one smooth, lying, coaching ahole in college bball. The program is too clean with all the successful recruiting classes. UNC has dirt and most other programs. The only program that never gets negative press is UK. The only negative press they had since Cal has been there was Enes Kanter. The program was prohibited from them having Kanter on the bench until his status was cleared. They defied the the NCAA and allowed him where he was not allowed. Then, he was never cleared and found he was in fact in violation of amateur status after being paid in Greece. Hell, Cal moved to the next better big to replace Kanter. This is not envy, this is the appalling crap that happens and UK continues to get away with crap.

Ok, if the program is within the regs, lets move on. My concern is, if the Feds know little to nothing about the practices of the "basketball world," whats to stop them from bringing any program up on charges they misunderstand? Maybe they have an agent that is well versed on above board practices? Seriously, how do they know as Self was saying that a lot of stuff happens and most is legal. Who in the hell do they consult? Other coaches? NCAA legal department? NCAA is just as complicit and illegal as the programs themselves. NCAA knows this crap happens, yet they don't say a word because these programs are their cash cow.

When the dust settles and this Adidas mess is virtually over, the Feds need to investigate NIKE and Under Armour. I bet the "hush" money is being sent as we speak to UK recruits and parents. I bet they have the shredders working day and night. Calipari will claim "plausible deniability." They will find nothing on John Calipari.

Wow, Louisville • Oct 09, 2017 03:22 AM

Wow, Louisville? This is the tip of the iceberg. Don't look now but another coach at a very successful program may be up next.

I've always wondered about Sean Miller and his recruiting practices. This "plausible deniability" is a bunch of bull crap. When you are the HEAD COACH of a major program, you don't stick your head in the sand, and get top recruits. You can't just say, "Oops, I didn't know about my assistant coaches illegal activity. YOU ARE THE HEAD COACH, and the buck stops with you. These coaches deserve whatever can be thrown at them to exonerate the game of basketball. This is a step in the right direction on the long road to bring some integrity to college basketball.

Shame on these coaches. It's not worth your career, your program, your recruits, and the terrible example it sends young players in the game.

@wissox Merely my opinion, which really doesnt matter. But please look at the bracket as it is written. Then compare the teams.

I actually dont agree with ref theory much. I would tend to say that KU has its share of some fav officiating experiences too. Dook does seem to get both, fairly easy tourney bracket, and some obvious ref calls, in my opinion.

I actually stay away from whining about the refs. If KU allows a game to be determined by the refs, they deserve to lose. This goes for any team.

Once again, dook will draw the path of least resistance in the tourney.

African Post Pipeline • Sep 02, 2017 02:29 AM

Like JoJo and Diallo, the NCAA will find some reason to disrupt his pt. He will likely go through some bogus eligibility check.

Who wants to bet? Regardless of his legitimate record, they will find some lame reason.

2018 Recruiting Thread • May 19, 2017 01:34 AM

I used to think I knew recruiting. But lately, I feel after some KU misses that I don't know sh!t about recruiting. I know recruits, but just don't understand their decisions.

UK and Puke seem to get pretty much whoever they want, year in and year out. I don't get it. They simply don't miss much on many of their recruits.

It's like the Patriot...Bill needs to watch this scene and see if it works during recruiting.

What a guy and great student athlete. DC came and filled a role that was needed during his time with the team. He truly did what he needed with the time he had at KU. I'm glad he got the chance to play and finish his degree at KU. He deserves nothing but the best in all he does.

What's in your cigars Keegs? You see the team half empty. They will be quite the contrary. You think they are worse off without JJ. I think they are better off since having him. He raised the bar and the team is better for it.

Coleby Transfers • May 17, 2017 01:16 AM

@JayHawkFanToo Lightfoot is a great kid and I think nothing but the best of him. But I've always wondered even when he signed just how he fit Self's big system? I'm sorry he doesn't hold a candle to Condor and he had the slowest feet I've ever seen on a 6-10 Center. Also, the two have a lot of similarities. I'd take Condor because he at least played with some physical players and actually put Opie Taylor aka Tyler Handstoobored, what his name? in his place during that KU UNC game. Then I remember OKC and UNI. UGH UGH the pain and I drive by the Chesapeak, formerly Ford Center every day.

I hope you're right. I hope Lightfoot comes back in beast mode with an attitude. But I think LFoot looks more choir boy than PF in D1 basketball. Have you seen his arms? Hudy needs to get that kid on something and get him some bulk.
