@BeddieKU23 And I would increase your bet by raising you that no remaining recruit gives KU a sniff. The better question is WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH THESE RECRUITS?
So where was this new and different way he was going to announce his decision? I don't think he's a competitor and went where he would be automatic. He was critical for Puke, especially since Frank Jackson stayed in the draft. What an uneventful recruit. Great way to bring excitement to your choice. Tilmon to METHU? Who's left? I think it is now safe to say KU is done save some late recruiting change.
@Texas-Hawk-10 What coach did Haase play for? Where did Haase do his assistant coaching? He's another UNC liability and doubt he has much of an obligation to KU. I think his UNC legacy is stronger than his KU time. Love him as a player, but as a coach? I think I'll pass. But what coach in his position passes on a blueblood program and your alma mater? Maybe it's a little different. Maybe Haase could do what Roy failed to do...bring at least 1 NC to KU.
@HighEliteMajor Yep. I couldn't agree more. I guess he wanted to do it all at NORTH CAROLINA. The key to me in your post is " 'should've' had two at KU." This makes me sick every time it's posted and an ugly reminder of his coaching.
But, many will defend and justify all that he did. How wonderful he is, etc, etc, etc. But the ugly fact remains, he never won 1 (ONE) NC at KU. Other than that, Ol' Roy is a great guy.
@approxinfinity I was waiting for the Zags to Zig. But they never Zigged or Zagged. They didn't have the talent of many other teams either.
@JayHawkFanToo
Dean Smith, Eddie Sutton, Steve Fisher are/were pretty old. Eddie retired due to some health issues or he would still be coaching. Jim Boeheim is no spring chicken, even though he coached his last year at Cuse. Charlie Spoonhour coached St Louis at a fairly older age. Even Coach K is sticking in the mix at over 70? Tubby Smith is getting up in years too.
These are all great senior coaches that are prolly AARP toting bball coaches, but it's not stopping them from rocking the Xs and Os. Hell, Bill Self may be sportin' the AARP card too. He's prolly milkin' that card and gettin' Cindy all kinds of senior discounts.
It makes you wonder what Few could do with a blue blood program like KU. If he can get the talent he has at Gonzaga, couple it with the KU brand and might put a scary team together.
@RockkChalkk
I'm afraid you may be right. The coaches have to know at this point. Also, remember Duval and his father are going to "do something we haven't seen before" when he announces. May be another Ball issue. These fathers of recruits need to stop living vicariously through their sons. They are really making things difficult for their sons. I wonder what Ball might have done if his dad kept his mouth shut?
I hate to say it, but Ball may be Black Balled at the next level with a loud mouth dad. No team wants some dad popping off, especially at the NBA level.
I'm pretty impressed with Mark Few as a non-KU linked coach.

Danny Manning
Absolutely DMan. He is definitely the chosen one with his resume. Turgeon and Boyle aren't making KU splashes in Maryland and Colorado. Turgeon was going gang busters. They are the only ones that have D1 level experience.
Lastly, don't count JDooley out either. ;l
The only former player that has a real chance would be DMan. I think Dooley may be close behind. Manning's record is fairly impressive. But he has some more work
@KUSTEVE You might ask HCBS what he would do if he lands Duval. However, I seem to remember a pretty cramped guard team in 2007-2008 and I'm pretty sure you remember the result of that team which had limited minutes: Rio, RussRob, Collins, Stewart, Case, BStar, Reed...Yet HCBS seemed to work those minutes out really well and it appeared to work to virtual perfection. We have a banner to prove it. Besides, you never know what might happened. Remember how Stewart was injured? I would love to have Tilmon, but he appears to be heading to MethU.
But don't worry. The rumors still have TDuval heading to Puke. Your minute issue will be fine.
Just as I posted on the "Crootin" thread that Charlie Moore, the Chicago connection, fails to sign or transfer to KU...He TRANSFERS. I'm going to reverse my logic on recruits more often and see if we get a better response.
I really thought all indications were leaning toward KU. Allen was a HUGE KU lean. All the recruiting experts and the famous 24/7 Crystal Ball all had Allen signing with KU.
SO, wouldn't it be as logical that TDuval and all the Puke hype be as wrong? Afterall, Duval has given NO real indication either way. I'm still holding out hope against all odds that KU has a fighting chance at landing Duval. Also, the Chicago pg was also leaning KU too. Everyone had him holding the Bill Self Chicago pipeline steady. He chose elsewhere.
Actually Duval seems to be the lone target that doesn't seem discouraged about playing with DG. He could grow playing with DG and Co. He could concentrate on playmaking which is his area of expertise and feed the others. I could see him driving and dishing to DG, Svi, or Vick. I can see a lot of lobs to BillyP and Udunka. He could score at will. Whereas, if he goes to a program, ie. Puke, he will HAVE to be The Man. I don't think he has a problem with being The Man, but he seems to be a player that wants to play within his game. Sure he could go to Puke or Zona, but he would be forced to be something he may not necessarily want, or play outside of his element. It's obvious that I am in denial with TDuval, but I really believe KU has a fair chance, "experts" be damned.
@BeddieKU23 He did? The #2 or #3 overall pick should've removed all "wonder."

MNew is a quiet assassin
He reminds me a little of Oubre and Ty Taylor hybrid
Man among boys
Kid is going to be one special underrated player that will play under the radar.
The speculation of Duval is interesting. Correct me if I'm wrong, but we went through a similar experience with Wiggins. If I remember correctly, we were a long shot with FSU and I think UK was also a solid fav for his services. Many were completely positive that he was going to FSU because of his mother. I think you know that rest of the story.
Duval is in a similar position with Puke and Zona. Like Wigs he will start wherever he goes, but where will he fit best. What was it about KU that Wigs picked KU? He later revealed that Self's ability to teach defense was attractive to him. I think he liked the team too. Let's hope that Duval finds something that attracts him away from Puke and Zona to KU.
Maybe DG's return will sway him to or away from KU?
@wissox #2 in updated NBA draft? WHY NOT?
@SkinnyKansasDude I actually can't wait to see Young struggle against some real DEFENSE. This high school wussy defense that makes you look like an NBA all-star is deceivingly ridiculous. Young will struggle at the next level. Graham will take him to school.
@BShark Nice timing
@Crimsonorblue22 It does make you wonder.
@Texas-Hawk-10 Maybe my point exactly. I guess it was one of his few bad games? But the timing was maybe the bigger issue than the fact he had a bad game. Sure, I agree, he had a bad game. Oh well, there's always next season. It definitely doesn't change my perception. He's still a great player and when he turns the corner with consistency, he will be a phenom.
Malik needs to play up to HIS potential. He doesn't have to play in Frank's shadow or be better. I hope he plays up to his capabilities. If he tries to meet the expectations of others, it may be a long season. The game needs to come to him.
@KUSTEVE I like that DG. But just about the time I thought DG was gaining momentum and consistency, he disappeared against Oregon. While Frank was tried and true all season.
I thought Frank lived up to his potential and then some. I'm not sure why DG performed so poorly against Oregon.

Maybe the coaches know. I find it odd this article was written with Self's pic, Duval's creative announcement, and then KU's visit to Brewster Academy for Allen. This may be quite telling of TDuval.
@BeddieKU23 I love Allen's play. I'm just not sure if he is physical enough to play in the B12. If you go bulking him a bit, how would it impact his game? BUT, if we miss on Duval, he may be a bit of a necessity. But with MGar, it would be nice to have some length at the 1-2 spots. I would love to see MGar pull up on smaller PGs and score over them.
But WOW...if we do lose both players, YIKES. We just lost 2/3 of our experienced scoring ability. This reality would mean either MNew steps up to the BIFM challenge and wills this team to a very deep run in the tourney (F4), or we get TDuval and they work the whole 1-2 punch that we all seem to love about this SELF-ish offense. If we lose both DG and Svi, it's going to be a little thin, especially if we miss on Duval.
I like TIlmon and Juiston. I could see Juiston working the 3 and feeding U-dunka inside. If our perimeter can pull defenders out of the lane, Udunka will have a feast inside. The firepower outside should be adequate to give Udunka free grazing. If they double-triple, Juiston and Preston need to be looking for the high/low dunk.
TNew/Duval
Vick/MGar
Juiston
Preston - nightmare for any 4 and wouldn't be surprised if he plays a 3 hybrid. I hope Self turns this guy lose and he goes LeBron on opponents. I hope Self works him at the 3-4.
U-Dunka/Tilmon - Double headed beasts (I would not work BPres at the 5 unless we go to a smaller line-up)
Graham would definitely raise his stock better than it is right now. So....he SHOULD stay, but we all know SHOULD is a lost word on many of these players. It wouldn't surprise me either way. If he goes, it's going to be difficult for him to find a spot on a roster. Then he could go to Europe as a last resort.
Svi could go, but might find it difficult too. However, GMs may love his potential. He too would improve his stock if he stays. Neither player will vault too high, but the money might improve. It wouldn't surprise me if he went to Europe. His family is big on academia. He might stay just for the pure educational benefit.
@wrwlumpy I think they would agree.

This kid will be an Oubre type player.

This kid looks a lot like Bragg, but way better handles and he plays without thinking.
GO FRANK GO....TAKE IT ALL HOME BRO YOU DESERVE IT
@JayHawkFanToo LMAO at this point and can't stop. I forgot all about that pic and now it's going to take another Summer to get it out of my head.
My question back then and now is that his baby mama? It's obvious where that pic was prior or went afterward.
The following clip is rated 'R' by the poster and it is intended for mature audiences. Parental discretion is advised.
I don't know why but this ugly selfie of NT reminded me of this clip. That and maybe the crap going on around the world ie. N Korea and Russia

LOVE the glare of WIgs.
Don't look now, but HCBS and KTown has just moved KU up in the battle for TDuval. It may be a small increase, but it's an increase. Dook is obviously holding at a solid position for Duval. My hope is that Self and Townsend are putting a full-court press on him over the next 5 days. If we can get to a 30-40% 24/7 chance, we MIGHT have a snowball's chance in hell to get him.
If that happens. If the dook godfather slips that low, and Capel loses ground with Duval, dook will pull out the big guns. They will appeal to Duval's NBA aspirations by brining in KYRIE IRVING. They believe Duval is better at distributing the ball than Irving. Coach Konsanants will stop at nothing to gain the recruits he needs. He doesn't miss too many targets. By gawd, he's not going to miss on Duval to KU. If Capel retains Duval, it can't be because he's a better recruiter than HOF Coach Bill Self.
Coach Kon is depending on his PUKE brand to reel Duval into the bizarre world of Puke bball.
@approxinfinity Absolutely. Bragg showed some great moments. He just couldn't get right. You can tell when a player turns a corner because they find some consistency. Bragg just couldn't turn that corner. I wanted him to succeed and gave him all the benefit of the doubt. But, HCBS also gave him plenty of opps but the latest incidents just sealed Bragg's fate.
@chriz Yeah, no, the Great Steph Curry does no wrong...He could never double dribble. Remember, the refs are professionals and they are unbiased. They are like our justice system. They are blind, and they only interpret the rules on the court. They pretty much allow certain players, ie. Curry and James type players to do whatever they want. Let's face it, these players basically are the NBA ref's job security. Without the NBA, these refs have no jobs? So, the more they can keep the NBA entertaining and allow Step Curry to double dribble to WOW the fans, they will swallow the whistle.
I can't help to think this all started at the hat thing during his announcement. It was all down hill from that point.
@jayballer54 Big difference in "getting" Duval and being "interested." You move on and I'll remain interested in a great point guard, regardless of where he signs.
Let's not forget Wiggins was a LONG shot too and many were guaranteeing him to FSU. Hope is a good thing @jayballer54.
@jayballer54 Don't forget to tell HOF Coach Bill Self what you just responded to me. ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY
KU played F4 caliber teams. In fact, I thought WVU, ISU, and BU were every bit as good as Oregon. Baylor is every bit as long and athletic. They didn't have the coaching. ISU and WVU proved they could beat KU. ISU beat KU in the Phog and broke the winning streak.
My hope is always the best for Bragg. Absolute best case scenario Bragg returns and enters the season as an absolute beast. But, his track record isn't too hopeful. I'm neutral at this point.
Question is...if Bragg stays another year, can he turn the remainder of his playing time into something special? I just don't get Bragg.
I'm more interested in Trevon Duval.
Roy's reaction to that last trey was classic.
UNC doesn't need treys. They need to feed Meeks.
@Crimsonorblue22 Hopefully he is a fast learner and picks up where he left off. I'm sure he's been practicing. Maybe he'll make up for lost time this Summer.
I hope Doke will be a BEAST after working with and playing against LL.
Brooks is a thug....
