We're getting outscored this half by a D3 team

Fargo Game Thread • Nov 11, 2022 01:16 AM

@Jethro That must be North Delaware St?

Fargo Game Thread • Nov 11, 2022 01:15 AM

@FarmerJayhawk They'd lose to them too!

Fargo Game Thread • Nov 11, 2022 01:07 AM

Just having fun here folks, just scroll on!

Fargo Game Thread • Nov 11, 2022 01:07 AM

I know the grind will come soon enough. NDSU is so bad they should be relegated to D3! NDSU is so bad bison ought to stampede their arena. NDSU is so bad they couldn't have beat James Naismith first KU team! NDSU is so bad they would only beat Missouri by a point. NDSU is so bad my intramural team at KU would have beat them.

Fargo Game Thread • Nov 11, 2022 01:00 AM

It's better than being Louisville and losing to Bellarmine.

Fargo Game Thread • Nov 11, 2022 01:00 AM

@jayballer67 So what, they're D3 players!

Fargo Game Thread • Nov 11, 2022 12:56 AM

@BShark That may be but I'm still bored!

Fargo Game Thread • Nov 11, 2022 12:50 AM

I wish we were playing a good team. These types of games are the worst. They ought to give the fans there a refund. Shooting 54% means nothing. Wilson scoring 17 in a half? So what. It's like a D3 team they're playing.

Fargo Game Thread • Nov 11, 2022 12:34 AM

Instant Rice

Fargo Game Thread • Nov 11, 2022 12:26 AM

MJ really ought to have #23.

Fargo Game Thread • Nov 11, 2022 12:25 AM

I suppose if I was a NDSU Bison fan I'd be a little annoyed with the announcing basically just talking about KU

Fargo Game Thread • Nov 11, 2022 12:20 AM

This is a bit higher level than the junior high basketball game I attended this afternoon

Box Score Musings • Nov 09, 2022 03:11 AM

@drgnslayr Nice post, I should have left you to write! I'm starting to think about a repeat after reading yours! Back to Back Baby!

Box Score Musings • Nov 08, 2022 11:27 PM

I'll have to watch Pettiford closer. A lot of you sound very high on him. I never really viewed him as anything more than a 10-15 minute a game guy, and I really thought he was more like a Jr or Sr this year which might explain why I didn't have expectations for him.

Box Score Musings • Nov 08, 2022 02:33 AM

Where do you see the depth from?

Box Score Musings • Nov 08, 2022 02:26 AM

Gradey Dick. Best KU Freshman debut since...hard to think of a better one to be honest.

JWill came close to a triple double. I really thought he'd never be much more than a decent player with our team, a kind of Kevin Young or Gregg Gurley type role player. Obviously the 2nd half of last season changed that prediction.

Maybe I'm wrong but other than Pettifords 13 points (which I don't see happening every night) the bench contributed little to this win. Udeh had some nice moments late when Omaha had run out of gas. I'm maybe a little concerned about a lack of depth.

We had 24 assists on 36 made baskets. I think that's considered good.

DeJuan played a reasonable facsimile of himself tonight.

It's not glaring in a rout like this one but 8-15 FT's is not good.

Udeh's 2 alley oop dunks reminded me of the last big we had whose name began with UD. Approx sees Embiid 1 and done potential with him. Now our ceiling is sky high if he develops that well.

Norm Roberts deserves a coaching win.

Overall grade of B+. Tell me I'm wrong, I can change it.

Peyton Manning Game Thread • Nov 08, 2022 01:58 AM

Who is Ejifor? I know who he's against, but who is he for?

Peyton Manning Game Thread • Nov 08, 2022 01:49 AM

That crowd making noise like we're beating Texas for the Big 12 championship.

Peyton Manning Game Thread • Nov 08, 2022 01:44 AM

KJ plays like that make me wonder when he'll contribute to the team consistently.

Peyton Manning Game Thread • Nov 08, 2022 01:39 AM

I disagree. I was an interim varsity soccer coach and got my first win in soccer. I still claim it.

Peyton Manning Game Thread • Nov 08, 2022 01:35 AM

@benshawks08 Not Gradey Dick?

Peyton Manning Game Thread • Nov 08, 2022 01:34 AM

@stoptheflop I believe that's correct.

Peyton Manning Game Thread • Nov 08, 2022 01:27 AM

@DanR Kansas City-Omaha Kings I think they were called back in the '70s. that's my memory anyways and i think it's correct.

Peyton Manning Game Thread • Nov 08, 2022 01:25 AM

Any of you younguns out there know there used to be an NBA team in Omaha?

Peyton Manning Game Thread • Nov 08, 2022 01:20 AM

I can't believe we're going to lose to Omaha.

Peyton Manning Game Thread • Nov 08, 2022 01:19 AM

DeJuan hobbling after that play?

Peyton Manning Game Thread • Nov 08, 2022 01:07 AM

@tundrahok Thanks!!

Peyton Manning Game Thread • Nov 08, 2022 01:06 AM

Of course Efffing ESPN has their top story Duke and not the defending national champions playing well in Lawrence. I really hate their freaking east coast bias

Peyton Manning Game Thread • Nov 08, 2022 01:02 AM

@bskeet Make em walk

Peyton Manning Game Thread • Nov 08, 2022 12:56 AM

Could we develop a play called a Dick and Roll?

Peyton Manning Game Thread • Nov 08, 2022 12:50 AM

Mine stopped glitching when I stopped casting it to the TV

Peyton Manning Game Thread • Nov 08, 2022 12:50 AM

@DanR PHOF!!!

Peyton Manning Game Thread • Nov 08, 2022 12:47 AM

That Gradey adjustment to bank it in was sweet. Was really expecting a off target floater

Peyton Manning Game Thread • Nov 08, 2022 12:44 AM

Of course there's no glitches during the commercials.

Peyton Manning Game Thread • Nov 08, 2022 12:43 AM

Because this is what we sports media types do: Gradey's stroke is the sweetest in Lawrence since....Billy Thomas? Of course we can tell after less than one half of a game against a far inferior opponent.

Peyton Manning Game Thread • Nov 08, 2022 12:37 AM

I’m paying for a screen that says unable to play video at this time?

Peyton Manning Game Thread • Nov 08, 2022 12:36 AM

I will be coming out of retirement to play in the faculty vs police basketball game. I’m hoping to garner consideration for mvp

Peyton Manning Game Thread • Nov 08, 2022 12:33 AM

@Gorilla72 sorry that doesn’t clear it up for me.

Peyton Manning Game Thread • Nov 08, 2022 12:28 AM

Udeh is fun shooting fts too

Peyton Manning Game Thread • Nov 08, 2022 12:27 AM

Nice catch by the high money donor in the fourth row

Peyton Manning Game Thread • Nov 08, 2022 12:25 AM

Why the heck is this the Peyton manning game thread?

Peyton Manning Game Thread • Nov 08, 2022 12:24 AM

Good grief I can’t type on my phone “Nickle and diming us to death”

Peyton Manning Game Thread • Nov 08, 2022 12:23 AM

Ten bucks to stream now. I hate these jerks nickel and dining is to death

Peyton Manning Game Thread • Nov 08, 2022 12:20 AM

@BShark said in Peyton Manning Game Thread:

MJ available to play.
We should win handily if MJ is available. This is my clever way to disguise that I don’t know who MJ is

TCU Shenanigans • Nov 07, 2022 05:44 PM

Northwestern is kind of the same way in the Chicago area. Sports media will talk about them but it's rarely a big story. When they finally made the dance a few years back it was pretty big. They're building a privately financed state of the art football stadium that will be much talked about when it opens but it will only hold like 35,000.

Self narrates title game • Nov 07, 2022 05:38 PM

I keep telling myself to subscribe to it. It may become my epitaph. "Great guy but never subscribed to The Athletic (because he was a cheapskate?)"

CBB magazines - A dying breed • Nov 07, 2022 05:37 PM

@jayballer67 Never heard of him but maybe putting a HS kid on the cover of a national publication puts an enormous amount of pressure on him and he wilts under the weight of it.

CBB magazines - A dying breed • Nov 07, 2022 01:20 AM

@nwhawkfan Wow, this touches a chord with me too. I still have in a box somewhere S&S's from the 1990's and 2000's in baseball and college hoops. It's fun to pore through their lists of top high school kids. They had an extensive list, but the top 20 boys and girls players was where I went first. Now to look back at those issues and see their hits and misses. Amazing that most years their 20 names faded into obscurity before even making a name for themselves in college much less the NBA. Then you scan the lists of honorable mention kids, 100's of names and you'll see a well known life long NBA player.

This time of year it's still an instinct of mine to go to the magazine rack at, heck, there's hardly bookstores anymore, and look for the issue. When I'd come up with it I'd always regret not living near Kansas and seeing the latest greatest Jayhawk on the cover because I'd see the latest greatest in the region I lived.

Then I'd read the description of KU's team. Then I'd look at Duke and NC's and they ALWAYS wrote more about them! Of course they wrote more about our team than anyone else too so it's a shallow complaint!

In the days before internet the SS was important for the KU Schedule. I made sure to always keep an eye on that because it was really easy to miss a game when not living in the media range of KU.

I think we could start our own college basketball issue. It might lean a bit heavy towards KU but really who cares!

No matter what team you pull for • Nov 06, 2022 01:17 AM

Initial impressions have been great so far!
