@Jethro The guys sitting in the NFL is a bit of a problem and it goes back to the fans who pay for tickets and then don't get to see who they paid to see. I experienced this disappointment this MLB season as a 20 game package ticket holder. Show up and guys are getting rested. Larussa sat 2 or 3 guys one game. I really don't know why MLB, or NBA players need rested. Like you play a game for 3-4 hours, do some warm ups, etc. What do you need to rest for? In MLB half of those hours you're sitting on the bench waiting to walk up to the plate and run at most 360 feet!

It's interesting to me that I've read several commentaries and seen tweets that seem to indicate it's us old fuddy duddies that are mad about this and all the woke younger folks make silly memes telling us to stop yelling "stay off my lawn".
I do think that ESPN is culpable. They've created a zillion ridiculous bowls and I don't blame someone from leaving their 6-6 team playing on a blue field before Christmas for saying, yeah, sorry guys, I'm opting out. The age of the participation trophy has come to fruition. Most kids see through those stupid things. You all make some valid points but I think I do too.
@rockchalkjayhawk Well I think Q is a decent player. He took his team with others of course to the final 4 last year. Wayne and him would be about even I'd guess. Not totally sure.
Is it a breach of contract? You sign a LOI to lace em up for whomever and they give you 5 years of education in exchange for playing for them. Then you tell them, sorry, I don't want to play for you anymore, even when it's a big game.
@Crimsonorblue22 Simmons played his full season. I really don't see why he's evidence that I'm wrong. Breece Hall, another piece of evidence. I understand loyalty is no big deal.
@Kcmatt7 How am I risking their financial futures? I know injuries happen, but then why play any games? I really don't get the push back on this. But somehow I've become the bad guy for suggesting a player should honor the commitment that people made to him and helped him get to the point that after today, they can go and chase their NFL dreams?

@mayjay Well I certainly know not to argue with a judge! But I'll do it anyways :) The comparison with games cancelled for Covid is much different in my view.
What's lost? OSU is getting killed. Imagine being an OSU fan who paid a bunch of money, maybe money that was a splurge to attend this game and then having four guys who apparently are great players decide to skip the game? I'd be pissed. Maybe me and Kirk and Desmond are the only ones mad about it. IDK. But like I told Matt it reveals a mindset difference. Loyalty to a school that helped get you to the NFL dream? Apparently that means nothing to guys who again in my view are self centered. Much more so than a posing Desmond Howard in a moment many view as an iconic moment in the games history.

Again, leading voices in the sport are saying the same thing, so don't give me 'panties in a wad' crap. I suppose during our big chance in 2008 in a rare BCS bowl game you would have been fine if Reesing or Meier or Briscoe had quit. That's a shame and it would have been a horrendous slap in the face of the faithful fans who had stuck by the team so many years.

Meaningless game? I guess but for that matter, none of these games matter if a guy wants to go pro. The game today is meaningless. Ochai has a brightening future in the league so he shouldn't play today because this game is meaningless. I can't believe you're a commenter here because none of these games have meaning if these guys are going pro.
If a guy really just wants to be a pro football player then he shouldn't go to college. Work out, train, etc until someone takes a chance on you, but once you take someones money like these guys are doing to play a college sport then you owe it to the institution, fans, and teammates to play out through the the final game.
RANT. 4 Ohio State players quit on their team playing in the Rose Bowl today. They want to go get ready for the draft. What a bunch of entitled punks. Of course they're not the only ones, many lesser bowl games have seen similar attrition. But coaches are guilty too. Abandon your team when they get hired away to coach someone else. They receive a quality 5 year education (if they take advantage of it), financed by program boosters, essentially who say I will donate money to the school to watch you for 4 years. Then at a game that is always a decent consolation prize for not making the playoff they quit. They should be asked to repay their scholarship. While a few role players will benefit by increased minutes maybe the worst part of this is them quitting on their teammates. NCAA needs to act on this scourge. Schools need to be proactive in preventing this happening by making them sign contracts to agree to finish a season.

Quentin getting some minutes with the Knicks but they're ugly minutes. After a debut with 27 points, he's really struggling to score, and nearly every basket he's made has been outside the arc. Thinking his time is short in the Garden. Rather see them giving Selden minutes.
Didn't see this thread, but Covid struck me. The Thursday before Christmas. Lost taste, small fever, some cold like symptoms. Been feeling well, exercising all week now, taste coming back. Vaxxed, but not boosted, was trying to be noble and wait til Xmas break so I wouldn't have to miss school if I got ill from the booster. Hoping for a negative home test this weekend so I can go back to work Monday.
But lots of drama from a brother who reads the far right pages way too much and not much else. So he goes to mom and dads for xmas unvaxxed of course, and gets sick when he's there, then follows no protocols, my 89 father now fighting it, doing ok it looks like. Brother kind of feels bad, but I saw him today and he refused to mask even as I requested it. We were outside for disc golf so I just made sure to stay away.
Rankings/power rankings don't mean that much to me but I was kind of curious reading CBS' power rankings. They have us 10th, which of course is nice, but I'm kind of used to higher. Especially when I see Providence above us, and Colorado St directly below us. There's some good teams ahead of us, the usual suspects like Baylor, Duke, Gonzaga, some new blood like USC (no argument there) and ISU. I don't watch many teams besides ours so I'll have to trust the experts.

@Kubie Thanks, trying to avoid roku's right now. I need a new computer, I wouldn't be getting it just for ESPN+!! I do have a chromecast and would use it with my computer. Struggled to make my phone work with it on the TV however even though other things work with it.
@mayjay I could, but it's not worth it to me. I'd rather gripe! One problem is my old computer doesn't play any videos on ESPN anymore so ESPN+ doesn't work on my laptop. I am getting a new computer one of these days so I'll just wait til I get it.

@mayjay G League numbers seem to mean little. DDotson's has gigantic stats, like 20 points, 7 boards, 7 assists, nearly 3 steals per game. Yet even with Covid the Bulls can't use him.
