I left the thread as it was getting stupid. Amazing what happens when i do that. I picked up a book while still watching and not getting stressed by quite a few people that I don't really agree with but are friends anyways.

My biggest disagreement was with the was he shooting or not shooting question. I thought he was. Didn't think Haase was stupid saying that. He pulled up the dribble to get into a shooting motion. Now was it in anticipation of a foul? Probably and can see the viewpoint that it wasn't.

What's really stupid to me is people on here who have been on here or over at KUSports of the LJWorld for all this time cussing people out and all this over a game. Strategy, players, one guy says this, the other says that and while maybe if we were all sitting around in a room discussing the game it'd be different. In person you can really have fun back and forth arguments. Keyboards don't allow for that for some reason. It's really disturbing and as much as I enjoy chatting, I really don't get into online arguments too much. I've had some here too I agree, but what's the point?

Tomorrow I've got to go to work and try to assure many hispanic students in my classroom that they're safe. I've got to try to write another girl who is hospitalized for self harm. Real life issues make arguing about sports and players and teams really pointless, and then @MoonwalkMafia chimes in basically saying the same thing. Peace out folks. Life is beautiful and fun if you allow it to be.

We played a top 10 team to 2 OT's without a starter 3 days ago, came into this without 2 starters including an all timer for this program at PG and people are turning on Self?

Bill Self can coach at KU for as long as he'd like.

@Texas-Hawk-10 Had the broken hand, the real reason why we lost to Zona in 1997.

@Texas-Hawk-10 Who is the Jayhawk? I know Neely, but who's the other?

These guys are better than Fran and Schiambi

WE were firing the 3's early and making them, 5-8. Then seemingly they stopped shooting them. Another fools gold moment?

@tundrahok Yeah but it could be like 35-5 rebounding !

Dang Zeke almost made a bucket for them.

3 halfs of badketball and Storr hasn't made a shot.

FTs keeping us in the game.

Seeing that Pebble Beach commercial made me drool. How about we have the first annual KUBuckets golf outing to PB late March? We won't be distracted by KU basketball by then, may be fun.

Looked like the mens volleyball team practicing.

@patoh3 They've missed 10 combined

Hunter and Zeke have taken 16 of our 22 shots.

Wow, central Florida has taken 20 3's and only 8 inside the arc

Why can't that 7'2" behomoth dunk and rebound a basketball?

That Storr TO looked he was playing hot potato with it.

@Texas-Hawk-10 I had the same thought.

They could try calling a foul on them. Mayo getting handled every time down.

The DaJuan appreciation society is growing larger.

Moore putting us in a bind.

@approxinfinity At least the commercials work fine.....

This herky jerky ESPN+ is horrible. We pay money for this. Am I the only one that it glitches like all game long?

Mayo mako's many.

Glad to see Mayo make one.

Glad I didn't have to jump all game long when I went to KU games

We are 1 game ahead of Central Florida in the Big 12 standings.

@BShark I amend my score to 61-60

@BShark I amend my score 101-50

Putting things in context • Jan 28, 2025 11:32 PM

Yes indeed. March is the goal now. Lots of our exciting conference championships? I really don't remember them except we won 14 or 15 in a row. Maybe if I looked back I'd say oh yes, I remember that game that won us the championship.

But March Madness games? I honestly can remember nearly every end to the season back to when I came to KU. One example. Peacock had the Badgers and UCLA and the announcer was Darren Collison. Maybe an unfamiliar name to many but he destroyed us as a member of UCLA in 2007. We played the Bruins and it was a frustrating end to the season in the elite 8. I was watching the game and kept thinking this announcer is decidedly pro Bruin. Figured out who it was and then the memories came flooding back. It's like that every tournament back to 80's. Glenn Robinson, Lamar Odom, Laettner, Freaking Bill Self and Illinois in 2001 beat us. GTech in 2004 OT, the killer B's in 05-06, MSU in 09. Farakmush in 10, Shaka in 11, Unibrow, meltdown in 13, and then a bunch of bad losses to the likes of Stanford and Wichita and Nova, and Bama and USC and Arkansas, and Auburn and Oregon and wow. The memories are all there. The only good memory of those losses? 2012 because we exceeded expectations and made it all the way to the championship. 1991 fits in that category too, but wow, hated losing to Duke that's for sure.

So this team has the ability to go a long ways and in a wacky tournament could well make a FF. It would be nice to make it past the round of 32!

First time we played UCF, we'd just lost to WVU, and given our results last year in shuffleboard land, I think we were a bit leery of how things would go. Well if you were out celebrating the new year early and incapable of remembering that game, we were pissed. It was embarrassing to lose to Hillybilly Tech. And so we made sure we didn't lose. It felt like one of those Nov 1 games between us and the Nunavit University JV team. We destroyed them.

We got back on our feet, lost a tough one to ISU, but played relatively decently and then a loss that somehow felt WAY worse than the West Virginia debacle. Houston was an all timer. We'll talk about it for decades. Poor DaJuan and Mayo will have nightmares for decades. Bill Self will question all that he has accomplished has just been dumb luck because how could he coach a team that so inexplicably folded twice in the span of 15 minutes?

So poor old Central Florida walks in and must be thinking oy vey, what did we do to deserve this?

Well I predict a confidence booster. I saw a reminder that almost to the day 3 years ago we got destroyed by Kentucky on our home court and many views of the team, including mine I remember, were of a uninspiring end to the season. I think the end was just the opposite. A comeback from the Kentucky doom, and a comeback from the UNC 1st half in NOLA. I think we'll get rolling again and then have to go to Baylor, see ISU again, go to Houston, go to BYU, go to Colorado, see hot Arizona, and wow, TONIGHT IS A MUST WIN!!

KU 100-Central Florida 50.

Believe me im absolutely hoping they get some chemistry and swagger. Many games still to play. I am a 100% fan. Just not deceiving myself anymore.

Speaking of swagger, I am a Maryland basketball fan because my daughter went there recently. I just watched them beat Indiana on the road… They’re playing fearlessly and they’re playing with absolute confidence and belief. They also beat a ranked team on the road a few days ago. I’m not saying that they will go real far in the tourney, but I’m frankly jealous of their fearlessness and wide open play. Their coach, Kevin Willard, seems to let his guys just play through bonehead mistakes and rushed shots, and missed defensive assignments. They sure as hell believe in themselves… Can Kansas get to a point to believe in themselves?

Time for a friendly wager when Wisconsin visits them this week? :). I'm a bit nervous about that one as a I should be. Badgers are playing very well right now, but so are the Terps. Home court probably tilts it your direction.

@approxinfinity Did you know that after losing at home to KSU, we also lost to Duke and OU that February and then avenged those losses a month later when it mattered most?

Good point… how does this rank on the list of most painful home losses?

My first loss as a student came in '88 to Kansas St. That broke a 50-60 home win streak! Mitch Richmond was really good for KState and they pulled away at the end. All of the older folks started leaving early and we started chanting at them "don't come back, don't come back"!

If you all don't do FB, it's Kelvin singing DaJuans praises.

kjayhayhawks. Sounds like you'd have been satisfied to not win in 2022 if Self got fired/retired/quit because of it. I'm not sure if I've read anything so unbelievable on these pages.

All you crapping on KJ all year. If he's healthy Flory doesn't foul out and I'm thinking this is different. Good night. Have fun wallowing in misery those who like to do that. RCJHKU

The older I get the easier these roll off the back. 88, 08, 22 all still fresh in the memory. We're still a good team and we'll learn from this.

This reminded me of our football losses
