That's how to make the crowd loud, not with some gimmicky make noise thing.
Could see that one coming on Frank
That seemed like a weak T to me.
@BeddieKU23 Even had his eyes closed when he was praying on that shot!
We only have JJ for a little more than a month, and then bam, he's gone. I hate OAD
@KansasComet You're wrong, he tripped on the FT line.
I was behind the same goal when Danny Manning made the same pass but it was 1 bounce bounce pass, hit Piper right in stride. Most amazing pass I've ever seen in person.
With Vick I just feel like he's scratching the surface. Sorry couldn't resist the bad pun.
POY....finally
Anyone have Vick as their Hawk to Rawk?
Who cares about crowd noise records? I don't.
Several minutes ago Vick drove to the top of the key, got stuffed, they blew the whistle. No shooting foul but there was no contact against him until the shot. Our only 90% shooter denied the chance to shoot FT's.
Why isn't that a shooting foul?
Does ESPN switch to the game at least in Kansas so you in staters could see the start?
@kjayhawks Thanks, it was on my phone screen, the hair fooled me.
Ya'll missed a great block by JJ.
Ya'll haven't missed anything so far....neither has WVU.
Our AD is an expert on making sure our fans can't watch games, maybe he has something to do with this.
This game is over, I quit.
My app at least has that crappy above the rim view. Regular view doesn't work.
And for some reason they never seem to put the start of the game on ESPNews any more. The apps don't work very well for me.
To fit what you think I think about the Jayhawks I should say that we'll lose, but I know better. We always win the revenge games.
@jayballer54 Yeah, I watched it on DVR until my phone showed me the score and I turned it off.
@jayballer54 Totally jinxed myself talking about the Badgers today here! To be honest UW has been stifled on offense for quite a few games right now and I'm worried. Koenig is hurting and it's definitely limiting his effectiveness. That's the biggest issue right now.
Yes we'll win, but I also thought Wisconsin would beat Northwestern tonight.
@jayballer54 I would not want to see Purdue in the dance. They've had a few perplexing losses, but so have we. And they've got size. Swanigan is a beast. So is their 7'2" center. The Badgers couldn't handle them. I think, and I watch quite a lot of big 10 ball, that Purdue is better than the Badgers, or at least match up well against them. Meanwhile the Badgers keep winning, close games just like KU. I was a little surprised they weren't given a top 4, but it really doesn't matter much.
@jaybate-1.0 Nice response. But....we beat Duke and Kentucky regularly lately! I can't think of officiating costing us a tournament win except way back in 86. I know some will bring up the 'Nova game last year and the Graham foul out call, but that didn't cost us the win.
Now for the recruiting. Could it be, just asking, could it be that kids see Duke and UK playing on the final weekend a little more regularly than KU and decide they want that as well? Could it be they like those teams' OAD major? We've had some OAD's as well obviously and many would see us as insiders on the OAD track. How many have we had compared to UK and Duke? Anyone know? And how many have we had compared to others? I'd guess we are top 5 in number of OAD's nationally since this scourge was forced upon us. That's top 5 out of 350 DI teams or whatever the bloated number is these days.
I'll believe your tournament engineering theory when you give me evidence. We've had influential members of the selection committee and if there was engineering going on, slanted against KU and others in flyover country you'd think our representatives would be the first to cry foul.
So I clicked on tags and there are a lot of those korean/japanese/chinese tags.
What do tags do?
@truehawk93 Wow dude, that's quite a list of slights against KU. Starting with your first one. It looked almost like a moving screen to me. Miles called that right in my opinion.
Why do we so often have a world's against us attitude?
@HighEliteMajor To a yooper, or near yooper like I was many years (yooper is nickname for upper peninsula Michiganders) pasties are delicious meat pies, so that's what I though of.
@KirkIsMyHinrich Unless it was the first 8 minutes when did that play happen in the game?
@chriz Your post is why I'm a little miffed at the Badgers 5 seed prediction right now. They're not winning by a wide margin just like KU, but they're winning nonetheless. 22-3 and will probably move to 23-3 tomorrow against depleted Northwestern. Teams that are winners know how to win
@Hawk8086 Too much ball left to play to get too upset. 21-3 though and winning everywhere right now, albeit in pretty ugly fashion, well, it could be worse. I think if they win the Big10 they really ought to be top 2 or 3 seed. And I'm guessing most teams in the country would not want to see Wisconsin opposite them before the Final 4. There's a lot of NCAA success playing for that team right now.
We obviously must beware WVU, and going to Baylor always scares me. I'll be there in Texas so we can't lose that game. 2 more losses at worst.
kusports.com works for me.
@Lulufulu I doubt he will. Scoring seems to be his thing. I will say this about his stats, Rubio seemingly has about 15 assists every night I look and Towns seemingly has about 15 or so boards every night. This limits the possibilities for those stats somewhat.
Interestingly this question was asked early in the season and some believed that the problem would fix itself somehow or another. I didn't buy it. It's a done deal. We're a bad FT shooting team. We have been all year and we will continue to be so.
The other night when KSU was coming back against us and had accumulated so few fouls I was wondering why they didn't employ the hack a Shaq strategy. I mean why not? Even if we go to the bonus and double bonus, KSU had so many fouls to give we could have had a parade of guys going to the line shooting 60% and we just may have lost that game.
@approxinfinity the Sox never were on WGN until the 2000's if I remember correctly. Maybe it was earlier. But most people think of WGN and Cubs of course. Until about 3 years ago I could get Sox, Cubs and Bulls on WGN. Then they screwed it up, not even Chicago news.
More on ESPN now that I've got a little time. My 95 thesis of ESPN.

They focus on football all year. This is personal, I don't mind football in its season. But they'll be running programming starting probably this week or next what each NFL team needs.
-
They tolerate baseball. As long as it doesn't interfere with football they're fine with showing baseball. But, how does a network that televises baseball all season not want to broadcast any postseason games?
-
When they do show baseball, the only time I can ever hope to see the White Sox play (my favorite team) is if they play the Yankees or Red Sox. I know the Sox have sucked for a while, but even when they were good, until 2013, they were rarely featured.
-
They show too much east coast baseball.
-
They show too much east coast basketball, I think.
-
Their highlight shows feature too many east coast teams.
-
Their highlight shows feature too much football.
-
Their programming, and we ALL know this one, as do every Central timezone team, is geared towards showing the entire game of the east coast teams that begin at 6 oclock central, and run into our game probably half of the time at least. KU fans are not the only fans who experience this.
-
They own the SEC network. They have a poll in both major college sports. Can they slant those polls towards SEC teams? You bet. They can't force voters to vote certain ways, but they can talk higher of SEC teams than they deserve. Alabama this year is a nice example. They obviously are a great team, but we were hearing things like best ever and things like that about Alabama. Well they lost to a one loss Clemson team that had that one loss at home to middling Pittsburgh. No I don't think Bama was one of the best ever. But the network that controls polls and viewers eyes and dollars wanted you to think so.
-
But here's the rub. We're all dependent on ESPN. We watch it for our team(s). We complain but we're still watching. They show a lot of KU obviously. And Kentucky, and Indiana, and Arizona, and Duke and UNC, etc. We watch and comment on their excellent documentaries. We tolerate Sportscenter for the few moments they talk about our team.
I struggle with the bias towards Kentucky and Duke thing to be honest. I don't need anecdotal evidence, in other words, "I heard Dicky V praise Duke all the time". In this sort of academic discussion, give me facts. It seems like they're sweet on Duke, but are they really? Convince me and I'm a buyer!
I can't comment more right now about why I think ESPN sucks, but I will later!
@justanotherfan I think Cal has to play a tough non con schedule because once he's in the SUC he's playing +100 RPI schools. That's the same with Gonzaga. People applaud their annual tough non con schedule but once they're in conference season they have little stout competition.
@mayjay No one's ever stuck in a parking lot during basketball season in SEC country except at UK.
@kjayhawks Looking forward to seeing the Jayhawks in Austin in 2 weeks. 40 bucks a piece is still kind of steep for me, but well worth it.
@KirkIsMyHinrich Nice post! It's hard to quantify the eye test, but JJ just seems to be the much better player while at KU than Wigs was. I've had some pissing matches with some people here over how I was a little disappointed at Wigs career here. Part of it had to be being on a team that lost more frequently than we're used to. Part of it was disappearing acts on his part in some games. He's a marvelous player I'll acknowledge, one of the greatest ever at KU.
But JJ is just special. He's a stat sheet stuffer. He passes beautifully, defends tenaciously, and is a fast learner.
We're all hoping of course that JJ's season ends much better than Wigs' did.
!DSCN1030.JPG ↗ Where I watch LSU games from for 5$. Yes, that's Joel's future teammate Ben Simmons.
@JayHawkFanToo Or LSU. I've frequently sat at the courtside table with no problem. Pay 5 bucks for the ticket and move down there. I saw Alabama this year actually Mayjay. Avery Bradley is fun to watch coach.
@Crimsonorblue22 Tornadoes nearby, but no damage. Just watched the news and don't think where Brooksie lives got hit.
While it sounds great to say we haven't lost 2 in a row since 2013, it's wrong. We lost the last game of last season and lost the 1st game of this season. Sounds like a two game losing streak to me.
Anthony Davis of Uk, not Anthony Walker!
That call and some of the others mentioned here were tied for the lead with the worst calls of the night with the play when Bragg ended up on the ground with a loose ball, got mutilated, violated, mugged, accosted, mauled, tortured, beat, whipped and cannibalized. Of course the official standing right on top of it called it a jump ball. Of course.
