Injury Denial Syndrome: Roots and Triggers • Jan 10, 2017 07:57 PM

@jaybate-1.0 And really trying hard to keep it from inappropriate affection

Injury Denial Syndrome: Roots and Triggers • Jan 10, 2017 03:06 PM

You forgot to mention the other related syndrome: Ghost Injury Syndrome. This occurs when someone imagines a player must be hurt because we never would have lost that game if he were healthy. This syndrome is particularly prevalent in message boards of major college hoop programs fans.

There is a cure, but it's kind of ugly. Get one of those dolls, you know the kinds that you stick pins in. Where the ghost injury is imagined stick the pin into the doll.

This cure is more effective when the doll looks like Grayson Allan or his coach RatFace. I think this happened recently. Duke center Chase Jeter is sitting out because of a sore back. A UNC fan suffering from this syndrome used one of those dolls that looked like RatFace. Well you know how this turned out. Ratface had major back surgery and will be sitting out a month.

No malice intended.

@nuleafjhawk We'll be praying that you get help for your delusionary states.

Baylor #1 in AP poll • Jan 10, 2017 03:28 AM

@KUSTEVE Which means next poll we're #1. Polls are kind of a king of the mountain type of thing. We've had a relatively underwhelming start to our league season, but here we are #1. I hate to say it, but I'm not positive we're #1 right now. I'm assuming we beat OU tomorrow. OSU Saturday at home, then Big Monday at Ames, fresh with the #1 ranking......

@Texas-Hawk-10 PHOF! Sorry Crimson, you can't handle people disagreeing with you on this issue. You've given me no reason to agree with you.

@Crimsonorblue22 No, it's our loss. We lost a fantastic rivalry.

Some misc, possible concerns: • Jan 09, 2017 11:16 PM

If a college kid can't play 34-35 minutes a game twice a week, then they're poorly conditioned. I understand injuries happen.

Danny Manning averaged 35 minutes a game his senior year. Ended pretty well. There's no stats for minutes played even in the early 1980's for college, but pros there are stats.

Wilt averaged 48.5 minutes per game one season as a pro. Let's see, 12 x 4 = 48. That's probably one of the more obscure records, but pretty amazing. By the way that season he scored 50 a game and had 25 RB"s a game, so you know, he was really pretty good!

@Crimsonorblue22 Well leaving the league killed Missouri basketball. Maybe what I'm saying is I miss the Missouri rivalry. I got up for those two games more than any games all year other than the Dance. If somehow bringing them back would renew their basketball program, then sure, I'd like to see it again. It was one of the 4 or 5 greatest rivalries in sports. Right up there with Cubs/Sox, Yankees/redsox, Bears/Packers, UNC/Duke and Cats and Dogs.

@Ralster, you made some good points but playing Missouri in my mind is a game to get up for. I don't get up for Davidson, or Long Beach or any of the other lesser teams on our non-con slate. I'd get up for us and Missouri. Plus it's an easy rivalry. We've got loads of tradition. They made a couple of elite 8's. We're talked about nationally, no one ever talks about Missouri. Even if we lose occasionally like we did to them with some frequency, we're still the princess and they're still the ugly stepsister. I want to play Missouri!

Recruit visiting • Jan 09, 2017 01:39 PM

@Texas-Hawk-10 I forget but if it'd been Devonte and Frank visiting a few years back wouldn't it have said unranked by them too? Or was it they weren't top 150?

Welcome Back Devonte • Jan 08, 2017 07:57 PM

@BeddieKU23 I'm not sure he's an NBA player either, marginal I suppose.

Red Dawn • Jan 08, 2017 09:12 AM

F bomb? I don't see no stinking F bomb.

Just read that's our 2200th win. I'd love to know how many since 1985 when I first became a KU fan.

@DoubleDD Ha, beat the Patriots. They're my pro football Duke. Hate them. But I don't care too much actually. If the Bears ever figure out how to field a decent team I'll care again.

@Crimsonorblue22 We had 9, they had 4 too, so that's good, right?

We shot 51% for the game, 50% from 3's, 81% from the line, held them to 40%, 39% from three which is below their average, outrebounded them by 11, had a few too many TO's but forced the same amount from them. And we OUTSCORED THEM BY 17. Other big 12 teams are going to compete with us. This wasn't a bad performance at all by our team. Not once did I feel like the game was slipping away.

I wouldn't mind seeing some subs in the game.

@Crimsonorblue22 Oh yeah, I forgot about you!

There's a reason Fran is doing this game. He's better than any of us otherwise one of us would be doing it.

Anyone remember a 10 count about 4 years ago? Ugh

Pretty amazing we're up to 6th in the country on 3 point shooting the way we started this year.

This looks more like an old KU style slugfest than the run n. gun jayhawks of 2016=17

@Bwag Sorry, catching up on the DVR. I'm at the 14 minute mark so I'm almost there. Drove my daughter 90 miles to NOLA airport only to have the flight cancelled. UGH.

Hi

Was Our 2016 Season A Success? • Jan 07, 2017 04:00 PM

I barely watch KU football. Wished I had seen the Texas game. I would say that was an unsuccessful season only from this perspective. 82 teams made bowl games this season if I remember correctly that there's 41 bowl games. There's only about 120 or so DI or whatever they call it now teams. Pretty unsuccessful I believe!

Joel Freaking Embiid • Jan 07, 2017 03:57 PM

@dylans I never knew Thomas was so good and so short! Averaging 27 a game this season at 5'9" is pretty amazing.

Fskc • Jan 07, 2017 03:52 PM

@Crimsonorblue22 Explain it to me. Because it explains why our season ended in a thud when he was here in my mind anyways.

Fskc • Jan 07, 2017 01:54 PM

@DCHawker and one RB and 2 assists. I'll never understand that aspect of his game.

@drgnslayr Bathroom bills are unenforceable. Although I agree with the premise of them, the thought of enforcement of such laws must be a nightmare for law enforcement and business owners.

Early Bracketology • Jan 06, 2017 02:30 AM

@HawkChamp That didn't seem to happen last year when Chicago was the logical choice for our team.

Not just football. Here in Baton Rouge a local chicken finger place Raising Canes is giving away LSU basketball tickets with the purchase of a meal. I watched part of last nights LSU-Missouri game (don't ask) and it looked like about 2000 fans in Columbia. I was actually a little saddened because of course I've seen that house rocking, at least for our games, many times and it was always one of the toughest places for KU to play. But that's another story, and well, Missouri sucks.

Please • Jan 05, 2017 07:43 PM

@jaybate-1.0 SHOF!!! Sarcasm hall of fame!

OK Jaybate, after years of reading you use the word 'infarcting', I've got to ask, what the heck does that mean? I know I can look it up, but I thought I'd have the professor Dr. Jaybate explain it to me/us.

Please • Jan 05, 2017 02:10 PM

@mayjay I was referring more to two similar topics starting on the same day. There was one blatant example of that yesterday, and several other less blatant ones.

Please • Jan 05, 2017 11:56 AM

Our fantastic board is getting cluttered with a lot of New Topics. Unfortunately a lot of these are repeated. There were two or three just yesterday. Please make sure you check to see if it's been posted before. Just my two cents worth. I hope you don't mind me saying so.

Tripping Allen gets to play again • Jan 05, 2017 02:59 AM

Oh, and I hate Duke.

Tripping Allen gets to play again • Jan 05, 2017 02:58 AM

It seriously looks like about 2000 fans at Missouri.

Tripping Allen gets to play again • Jan 05, 2017 02:51 AM

Meanwhile in front of family and friends in Columbia, MO, the tiggers of Mo beating the woeful tiggers of LSU at the half. Catch all the inaction on SEC network now!

Tripping Allen gets to play again • Jan 05, 2017 02:44 AM

VTech getting creamed by NCS. VTech is ranked now.

@jaybate-1.0 Years of Dick Bennett and Bo Ryan scores I'm ready for some Tarkanian run n gun in Lawrence!

Joel Embiid at it again • Jan 05, 2017 12:05 AM

@tundrahok Boy you nailed it! Our front line problems right now with Cheick Diallo still on the team? Well we wouldn't be worried about it if he was here. I can't fathom a team taking Cheick after his season here, but it's their money so whatever, I guess.

As for @elpoyo I've been critical of Wiggins too, not to the extent he has, but I have. I've concluded that he (she?) is just hyper critical of our team as a fan of our team, really can't enjoy the team unless we win every game but he's still a Jayhawk fan. I don't like to be the speak only negative things type, as most of you don't either, but if he was a troll, he wouldn't be here year after year writing the things he does.

@HighEliteMajor Good point, and really, wouldn't we rather watch a 90-88 game instead of a 60-57 game?

The Only Way To Travel... • Jan 04, 2017 08:31 PM

Speaking of travelling anyone remember this? And anyone remember the 11th turnover TT committed which was really a foul? Listen to Bilas make try to excuse the refs.

The Only Way To Travel... • Jan 04, 2017 06:49 PM

@stoptheflop Staten's was an all out sprint too as I recall.

WTF Indiana? • Jan 04, 2017 06:48 PM

Of course their loss last night was a bit personal for me and I enjoyed it very much. I went to some Indiana message boards this morning and they're pissed. Crean is the Shaka Smart of the power conferences in college hoops. He made the FF with DWade which made him a legit coach, just like Shaka, and hasn't been to the elite 8 since. Made a few sweet 16's. (I know, the comparison to Shaka ends there) That's it. Acceptable at some schools, but not at a former blueblood.

The Only Way To Travel... • Jan 04, 2017 06:25 PM

Funny how there wasn't that kind of reaction when WV beat us two years ago. As you recall Staten (I think) picked up his dribble at the 3 point line and scored on an at the rim layin to beat us, (Perry should have made the ensuing shot, but that's a different story!) No national outrage.

Tyler Self's tweet was best Svi's stat line 11 points, 2 assists, 10 yards rushing.

We're two games into the short bench era at KU and I'm worried. I worried all summer about our lack of interior play, all the while salivating at our stellar perimeter. Two games since Doke went to the infirmary and we've looked relatively pedestrian. Did he make that much of a difference on this team? We shall see, but I'm guessing we will see our opponents coaches scheme ways to exploit our weak interior.

The Only Way To Travel... • Jan 04, 2017 01:41 PM

I smiled at the non-travel call. A lot of us, including me, whine that we never get calls against the other blue bloods and even non-blue bloods. Many schools complain about us getting the calls. Last night was a good example. Travel should have been called, wasn't, ballgame. I don't read other message boards, but I'm guessing those over at say, wildcatpukebuckets.com are saying we always get the calls.
