Happy Thanksgiving 2024! • Dec 02, 2024 12:44 AM

@FarmerJayhawk My parents are your grandparents ages essentially meaning you're probably more like my kids ages!

@AsadZ IDK, it's fair to ask, but I'm really in the camp that the first half of the season was partly the new OC's fault, and JD being rusty, and maybe even still trying to gain his confidence back. In the 4 of 5 game hot streak he played well. Should Lance be able to work the portal well, he may pick up some important pieces to add experience for new targets for JD and new linemen to protect him.

Not sure what happened to Hishaw towards the end of the season, but he's a pretty good piece coming back.

Of course, I can wait til next September because I'd rather not skip all of spring and summer after we grind through this winter.

People talking about hoping JD doesn't come back baffle me.

@Crimsonorblue22 Oh, I was mistaken it's like a knight or something. She did go to Furman

Excited about this one. #4 is the son of hs classmate. I met him several times. Nice kid.

Well see youall at the furman game chat!

OK. That was fun.

Wow, we can't cover anyone today.

These receivers sure look dumb in those shorts.

Wow, we've outgained them. Turnovers kill

This team still has some of the bad habits from when they were the laughingstock of college football.

Oh crap.

@kjayhawks Yeah, I saw the same thing.

Announcer acting like Jaylon hasn't made some downfield throws today. He had the really bad INT, but has made some really nice passes.

OK, D got a stop. Lets tighten this score up before the half.

Throw a flag.

@Texas-Hawk-10 OK, have fun. Just reporting what I saw on TV.

@Texas-Hawk-10 It looked in the neighborhood.

Our punter still bored, unfortunately the pick and the missed FG hurting us, not to mention the missed pass interference.

Wow, I guess you can push a receiver down in the end zone.

Horrible call.

What a catch!

See?

Run the ball Grimes

Some adversity. It appears stopping them will be difficult. Got to score now.

One team letting down the B12 is Arizona. They've lost 4 of 5, mostly to 0n the fringe of ranked type teams. Duke is their best loss while strangely their loss to WVU today is considered non conference as I'm sure it was scheduled long before they dreamed they'd be in the same league.

Everyone Hates the Raiders • Nov 30, 2024 03:51 AM

@AsadZ said in Everyone Hates the Raiders:

SMH

How Chiefs won today is beyond my comprehension and imagination

I've been writing the same things about the Bears except change won to lost and it'll be accurate!

This has been the most interesting season. Probably no team has ever excited their fans like the Jayhawks have when all they're trying to accomplish is a .500 season. But I'm pumped. Should be an exciting game. Hope it works out well.

KU / Duke Takeaways • Nov 29, 2024 02:11 PM

@rockchalkjayhawk Wow, that's a flight story. I think the same thing happened to our football coach here in Chicago when the plane landed yesterday. If you don't know that story you'll have to look it up!

@kjayhawks Couldn't watch but saw my other old friend Chucky Hepburn went off for 32 for Luisville.

KU / Duke Takeaways • Nov 29, 2024 04:28 AM

@rockchalkjayhawk Fun report! Weird that there really weren't scoreboards around. Self had mentioned it at one point in the postgame.

KU / Duke Takeaways • Nov 29, 2024 04:26 AM

Non shooting foul on Brown was assessed. But techs get shot and Duke awarded the ball. If we were in the bonus we would have shot the FTs first, then Duke shoots them and given the ball.

Happy Thanksgiving 2024! • Nov 29, 2024 04:20 AM

@StLJhawk Thanks, funny thing is I used acrostically thinking I used it right, but I wasn't entirely positive, but it sounds like you confirmed I was right!

KU / Duke Takeaways • Nov 28, 2024 04:20 PM

@drgnslayr I rarely rewatch games but I wanted to see how we survived the Hunter ejection. At the 3 second mark, they had added .3 to the clock so when the play started it was 3.3, not 3.0. During the TO Scheyer was talking to the ref and I'm sure he was telling him to watch for the time out. Pretty standard practice for coaches to inform refs they're going to call for a TO to save a few precious ticks of the clock.

I'm not going to laugh too loudly at UConn as the 2 time defending champ. Hurley is an amazing coach. His temper was well documented this week, but he certainly isn't the first coach with a temper and really until this week I didn't really know he had one.

Happy Thanksgiving 2024! • Nov 28, 2024 02:11 PM

When I started typing the title it popped up because those words have been used for topic titles a few times on this group.

Here's what I'm thankful for acrostically related to the Jayhawks. There's way more important things in my life but our Hawks are a great diversion.

James Naismith. He's partially ours and for goodness sakes, we wouldn't even know each other without him.

Allen Field House Before the internet days when I attended we all knew it was the best in the nation even if there was no 'best....' lists floating around causing arguments on the www.

Youth. I truly enjoy watching our fans behind the basket making it such a nightmare place to play for our opponents.

Hinrich, Kirk. Easily one of my favorite Jayhawks of all time. When we recruited him and Nick and Gooden I saw these freshmen just play way above their age and saw the potential to do what they did. If the letter N or C was in this acrostic Nick C would get his shoutout.

Agbaji, Ochai. His first high profile game in the champions classic, we saw the potential. Glad he hung around to become an all time great and win a championship.

Wilt Chamberlain. Now of course I didn't see him, probably didn't ever catch a glimpse of him on TV in his last year when all he did as a 36 year old was average 19 rebounds a game along with 14 points, and 4.5 assists. I love looking at his stats and also admire him for what he had to overcome as an African American in this horribly backwards country when he came to Lawrence.

Kansas football. I had a good time going to the games my first year on campus when Mike Norseth, and Willie Pless had them ranked until injuries derailed the season. After the games I'd drive my Vette (chevy chevette) over to pizza shuttle and tear around town for the next 12 hours delivering pizzas which was still the funnest job I've had.
kubuckets. OK, I'm adding a 2nd K because @approxinfinity is the true GOAT of KU basketball for rescuing us from sudden homelessness for our chatting. I really don't read KU sports stuff. I get what I need here.

Self, Bill, Brown, Larry, Williams, Roy. To have 3 all timers coaching at the school since I arrived is truly remarkable. Still can't believe Roy didn't win one, but fricking UNC distracted him that weekend in 2003 and we lost a game we should have won.

No letters to fit Danny Manning into this but being a senior in 1988 was truly magical. Watching him for my 3 years on campus was watching greatness. Times weren't crazy yet so we'd show up about 3 hours early and nab seats in the first row behind the basket, about 10 feet from the court. If we ever wanted to storm the court we would've been the first ones on the floor!

Also thankful for Mario for making that shot because Bill Self would've had the can't win the big one label big time if he hadn't done that.

Have a great day ya'll and see you next time!

KU vs Duke Game Thread • Nov 28, 2024 04:59 AM

@Texas-Hawk-10 My experience is neutral floor fans that have to travel are not going to be the rowdy freshmen that are drunk, rude, crude and obnoxious. The exception being the Kentucky fans I met in 2012 in the SuperDome.

This Maui tournament has been wild. UNC-MSU 3rd place game I just caught the last minute of regulation which featured a 3 with 5 seconds left to go to OT and just a helter skelter OT where MSU pulled it out. UNC goes home with a 4-3 record with losses against very very good Auburn and MSU, and of course, us!

Auburn is really seeming to be scary good. But they almost lost to ISU. Tom Crean just said they're better than us. Of course he's a failed coach so he had to go on TV so take it with a grain of salt!

I can't get over UConn finishing up right now in the 7th place game. Gonna be a LONG plane ride back to wherever they fly to.

KU / Duke Takeaways • Nov 27, 2024 10:11 PM

Watch this thing of beauty. . (if you can't watch it's DaJuan crossing Flagg and finding Griffen at the line for a 3.

KU / Duke Takeaways • Nov 27, 2024 10:05 PM

KJ had an awesome block of Flagg around 14:35 which they didn't replay. Pretty egregious.

LOL, UCONN plays at Midnight eastern time something ESPN surely wasn't planning for. This must have been the first year that Chaminade didn't play in the Maui?
