Our FT defense is superb
Darn tundra beat me to it!

@kjayhawks It's an age old debate. Can coaching prevent kids from losing their heads like we did against UNLV and try to pick up a fumble and run with it instead of just fall on it? Can coaching prevent Skinner (?) from dropping a wide open TD pass at Kstate? Can coaching prevent the kick returner from catching a KO at the 1/2 yard line and stepping out of bounds? Can coaching prevent refs from botching some calls against TCU?
On the other hand people would say great coaching will prevent Jaylon from making that bad throw at U of I at the end of the half. Great coaching will prevent the 4th quarter meltdowns. Great coaching will prevent the insane play calling we've all complained about from Grimes.
I really kind of think both can be blamed. Not sure the Houston coach whom we've waxed two years straight now can deliver us to undefeated land, especially when what you claim and the reality is a difference of 6 games.
@HoraceZontal said in Darryn Bucket Jones Peterson:
@BShark I love your excitement about him. Itβs infectious. I look forward to finding some film.
He hasn't infected me yet!
Houston beats KState. We destroyed Houston, barely lost to KState. Houston also beat TCU whom I thought was our toughest opponent. We really struggled to stop them. There's a side that I'm a part of that we've won some moral victories at least this year. I know that sucks but some times the odd plays that happen in a season cause us to lose like every time. Go back to my what if post. I'd rather take some satisfaction in these crazy frustrating losses than losing by 50 every week.
@nuleafjhawk I disagree. I'm not a smart guy.
@BeddieKU23 Had that thought and hate it already. Maybe NIL will keep him in college for a while.
This is a nice pickup!
@nuleafjhawk Every fan of every coaching staff in America whether it be football, polo or team ping pong thinks they should be trying something different. That doesn't make them the worst team of all time does it?
@nuleafjhawk Did you mean football programs of all time instead of football teams?
@nuleafjhawk I don't know how you can watch this years team and say they haven't been trying to win. They've been righthere in every game.
I think it would send a strong negative message about our program to bench Jalen. He gave up long portions of two seasons hurt for this program. Understandably he's been not quite the same this year. It's too bad for us in what was looking to be a possible playoff season, but benching one of our most successful QB's just looks bad.
@Texas-Hawk-10 Thanks, I was just referring to one "college basketball report" twitter page that featured the picks. With the way our last two seasons finished it's suddenly harder to imagine us even playing into the 2nd weekend. Roy had a similar stretch from about 1995-2000 where he lost in the 2nd round most of those years. Then the monkey came off his back and he demonstrated that at a press conference after beating Syracuse in the 2nd round. For the next half decade EE's, FF's and NC games were accomplished.
Saw a twitter thing today with 5 or 6 guys FF picks. None of them picked KU. Auburn, 4 picks, Bama 2, UConn 2, ISU 4 picks. A smattering of others but none others. Are they not aware of our every other year pattern? Well, I guess the last two years were failures, but still.
After a totally lost sports year I'm so ready to watch a winning team. Hopefully this years version goes deep into the postseason. I'm starved for some success. Not entirely sold on this crew yet, but getting healthier will help. Tonight sounds like a typical exhibition match. Some good, some bad.
I'd guess I watched more of Storr than anyone here last year. Everything you guys are saying is true. He's an enigma, but I'm not going to let one exhibition game where we were missing guys say he's a bust. He starred in a game knocking off Purdue last year, you know 2nd best team in the country. He can play with the big boys. I also remember it took him a few games to get into the swing with the Badgers. I don't really watch defense individually. I can't tell you about defensive lapses except that people complained about it. I never liked his carelessness with the ball and at times became turnover prone.
@Texas-Hawk-10 There's the "What if's" I mentioned at the beginning of the game thread. This one fit the pattern of the season. Another game and 3 very real what ifs. Another one on a holding penalty that felt like a big momentum switch. The safety was the biggest. Led to the deficit being as big as 9 several times instead of 7. Huge difference. We get the ball at the 25 after their first TD and who knows. Instead of KState marches down and suddenly 16 points in about 4 minutes of clock time. It's not as glaring when it happens in the middle of the game, but other than that ridiculous 4 minutes we outscore them 27-13.
Well we had some hopes at least. We had no answer for that defensive intensity in the last drive. KState fans, happy for your win against a 2-5 team. Basketball is a sport too and we own this state in that sport more than you do in football because we have banners and trophies.
Ref looked like he was doing some geriatric dance move there.
One guy catches a kickoff and steps out at the 1. One play later 2 points. How much are we behind by?
Got some time for some magic.
Review that crap
That's a clock stoppage.
@nuleafjhawk They haven't won yet!
@approxinfinity PHOF!!
I have a sense of foreboding.
Unbelievable.
Can't go too conservative here.
Our CBs coming up big
Hold em here!!!!
@jayballer67 Hey we've been watching the KU game. How'd the Yanks do?
@nuleafjhawk Me neither. That hold upsets me.
Dodgers win
Yanks load em up losing by 2 in the top of the 9th with 1 out. Drama!
Wow, still leading. Hope Grimes keeps calling the plays that got us this lead. No time to go super conservative.
@nuleafjhawk Yes, jammed his hand/wrist into the ground it looks like.
That fumble recovery a few minutes ago was huge. Didn't result in us scoring but prevented them in a sure scoring position.
How about that great ESPN coverage. They're showing some KSTate bullcrap and the long pass play happens on a 3rd of the screen.
@DanR Stealing 2nd and somehow hurt his hand. Trainer helped him off the field.
Breaking news. Ohtani hurt his hand somehow.
There goes Grimes abandoning the run again.
Need a first down.
@Crimsonorblue22 That's 2 points taken off their score. I get what you're saying.
@FarmerJayhawk Dropped pass, missed PAT adds up to 8. Where's the other? Did we miss a FG?
Crimson you still with us? Need that wheat!!
I see, I'm not too smart on all these rules
How can we have to burn a TO there? Ref wouldn't let us snap because KS kid is running onto the field.
Actually a smart play by that receiver. Maybe we return it if it's intercepted.
