@jayballer54 Living here in Baton Rouge I see the same thing. Obviously gulag football is the answer to why. Once you cross that parallel into the South, football rules. I see the same thing here in Baton Rouge with the nations top freshman, whom I've written about, and I walk up to the PMAC 5 minutes before game time, buy a ticket, walk down to a row where I know season ticket holders never come to, 5 rows behind the basket and watch some pretty good basketball.

Oh but 100,000 of these same ignorant fans will sit in 90 degree weather and watch them beat up Appalachian state!

This year is going to prove that KU basketball is not in decline.

This year is going to renew the discussion of Self being one of this generations great coaches.

This year is going to see a burst in KUbuckets fame for our astute observations and basketball acumen.

This season is going to end with a BG 3 into KU mortality.

@HighEliteMajor I know you get mentioned a lot so forgive me, but you never answered my specific question, do you want Bill Self to be replaced by someone else?

Also curious as to my comments on the strength of the teams that have eliminated KU. We've lost to some really good teams, which in my opinion, mitigates some of the bad losses that we've had.

A case in point, many look at 1997 as a bad loss, being the #1 seed, and if they'd ranked seeds then, we undoubtedly would have been the #1 overall. But the team that eliminated us went on to win the championship, turns out a very good team. Maybe they were underseeded, I don't remember that regular season at all, but by your little scoring method, that season would be a failure.

Are you going to advocate for Self to be asked to resign? I'm not trying to be snarky. I'm just seriously wondering if you would like someone else to coach KU? You don't seem to trust his ability to coach this team.

As per the early exits, I think a factor to consider is to see who defeated them. And this actually goes back to the Roy days.

Since Self has been coaching KU, they've been eliminated by the National runner up 3 times, GTech, Michigan State, and Michigan. Of course once they've been eliminated by the national champion in the last game, no shame there. They've been eliminated by a final four team twice, VCU and UCLA.

Then there's the other 'bad eliminations, the B's, UNI, Stanford, and I guess put WSU in that list although that was a stout team that eliminated us last year.

So another way to look at our tournament history is we have been eliminated by 6 final four teams, and 5 ehhhh, not so great teams.

@Texas-Hawk-10 Every team in the country I'd guess has a similar history in the same time Self has been at KU.

I really hope this kid turns into the next Hakeem Olajuwon. He's still my favorite OAD from KU, which is really a short list, because the other OAD's I don't have much good to say, especially as I check NBA box scores every day.

They are leading the NCAA in 3 point shooting percentage at 47%. Do you think coach doesn't recognize that glaring statistic? He's letting them shoot 3's, just not 30 shots a game, although I'd love to see him really cut them loose some day and let them take 30 shots from bonus land some day.

I'm amazed how tall all these guys are, I always figured Green was 6'4", 6'5" max. 6'7" is probably taller than any of us if we're all just average guys!

That corn school up there in the corn sure gets in the spotlight for all the wrong reasons.

@Statmachine It's preposterous that either are mentioned based on seeing what we have out of them so far. I totally understand the current situation, but what of Bragg, or even Cheick makes you think NBA ready?

I'm hoping Svi gets his stroke back. I'm hoping Cheick gets some more minutes. I'm hoping Perry gets aggressive and that Wayne doesn't foul. I'd like to see Devonte make some shots and for Frank to fire up the team to play with abandon like he does.

I'd really like Tyler and Evan get a chance to excite the crowd with Legerald setting the table for them with some much needed minutes, in other words, a confidence boosting blowout.

@jayballer54 There's others saying it about Diallo too. I read an article the other day on NBC hoops site saying Diallo's showing he's not quite ready for prime time after only 2 games! Of course one of those games, he was really pretty good against an overmatched opponent.

@JRyman If you want to see real arguing, and bickering, go read the comments on the Keegan article over at the other site! Actually read the column Keegs wrote about Self and his bigs dilemma.

Don't know where to write this, so here goes. I read Keegan on Bill Self this morning. Self was defending his big man rotation as he has 6 talented bigs and not enough time to play them all.

So I go down to the comments. While some were thoughtful and informed (i.e. stupidmicheal is posting there) there was so much bickering it was crazy. Entire threads of comments back and forth, "you insulted me first....."

Glad to have the Bucket to worry about our team!

If we win every game by five the rest of the season a lot of us will be a lot grayer, a lot more nerve wracked and there might be fewer of us by the end of the season because we would be having heart attacks!

@benshawks08 I'm gonna put us at 4. Had we blown out Harvard, like we should have, we're two, with MSU 1. I guess I'm not a sky is falling type with the Harvard result like some here have been, but that result keeps us from that 2 spot.

I've never played organized basketball except in a church league and I found myself at the line in a tournament at 11:00 PM on a Friday night. We were losing by 1 and as the ref hands me the ball he says "you better hit both or miss both" Well I did neither and we won in OT and went on to win the tournament!

I generally observe that teams that shoot poorly in FT's early in the season carry on that trait throughout the season unfortunately. Doesn't bode well for this season I think in terms of FT's.

@DinarHawk Sorry dude, but it appears that we have a very emotionally fragile fan base right now. A lot of negativity which I understand a bit, but I'm just amazed that you all know better than the coach.

After Maui and Loyola this fan base was ecstatic, but it took one game to undo it.

LSU nearly just lost a national championship winning coach, and while Bill's seat isn't that hot, I can see it building to that, and I think that would be a shame.

@JayHawkFanToo I think it's even with the Big1G but the ACC is pretty weak at the bottom and so the Big12 would win that. At the top, Interesting to speculate, but the Big1G just won the ACC challenge for the 7th time since 2008 or something like that. At the top, it's a toss up.

@JayHawkFanToo KU is the only Big12 team to even get to the final four since Texas (I think) a decade ago. Sure, there are a lot of solid teams in the league, but we're the only elite team, and heck, even our last three years, I might not (gasp, cough, choke, gag) call us elite either. ISU has been very close to helping make our league more relevant nationally, they probably get to the final four two years ago when Niang got hurt, but that's been it.

The BIg1G and ACC are the best leagues in the country in my opinion, but that doesn't matter because KU doesn't play for a league, they play for a name brand, which is high, and elite, and major. It's a name that needs no other explanation nationally when it comes to college hoops. When I tell people I went to KU they mention hoops. That's what they know about our school, heck it's what I know about our school.

I won't say it's been real fun, but nice to spend time with you all during these games. My wife won't talk to me about basketball so you're all I've got!
