It's boring to see them do this against Chaminade, it's exciting to watch them do it against UCLA.

U-C-L-A • Nov 25, 2015 03:25 AM

Let's see if the KU killer instinct comes out or if we let this team back in it.

U-C-L-A • Nov 25, 2015 03:20 AM

@Bwag We better keep shooting it before Coach reins em in.

U-C-L-A • Nov 25, 2015 03:18 AM

What number is Cheick, I can't figure out which one is he on the court.

U-C-L-A • Nov 25, 2015 03:13 AM

I like Jamari despite all the ripping on him from people here.

U-C-L-A • Nov 25, 2015 03:11 AM

Is this the chat spot?

Chaminade v. Jayhawks • Nov 24, 2015 03:57 AM

@Crimsonorblue22

We've waited so many days weeks and months to hear he's eligible so i say whay should tomorrow be any different?

Chaminade v. Jayhawks • Nov 24, 2015 03:18 AM

@Crimsonorblue22 Gotcha!

Chaminade v. Jayhawks • Nov 24, 2015 03:16 AM

@Crimsonorblue22 I don't know what just what we said means?

Chaminade v. Jayhawks • Nov 24, 2015 03:14 AM

Is that Mason's 2nd airball 3?

Chaminade v. Jayhawks • Nov 24, 2015 03:11 AM

Selden's got to bottle this for tomorrow and Wednesday

Chaminade v. Jayhawks • Nov 24, 2015 02:48 AM

I just got up from the dinner table, we had some friends here, so I haven't seen much of our game, but it's pretty dull so far. I wonder if coaches would rather play a more stout opponent than Chaminade?

Chaminade v. Jayhawks • Nov 24, 2015 02:45 AM

Did I hear Danny and WF knocked off Indy and Tom Crybaby?

Chaminade v. Jayhawks • Nov 24, 2015 02:38 AM

Are we going to win?

I wonder....... • Nov 23, 2015 10:13 PM

We're all just speculating of course. Here's my speculation:

The NCAA asks Cheicks pre-k teacher, actually his sister who is two years older if she indeed helped Cheick with his stacking blocks homework. She has to produce documentation.

Cheick is discovered to have taken 2 extra cookies during lunch in the 9th grade, an impermissable benefit. When he is cleared to play he'll have to hand out cookies in the student line before the Kentucky game.

Coach Cal is discovered to have sent Cheick an email telling him he should have signed with them because he would've had his people take care of his problem and he and Skal would discover their situations were identical.

The NCAA found someone on their staff who speaks 5 languages so Cheick's 4 languages is no big deal.

The NCAA couldn't find Mali on an Asian map so they figured he's lying about where he's from.

The NCAA admits that they've never heard of Cheick Diallo, therefore how could they approve him?

It's discovered that the other 9 Big12 coaches and their players held a fundraiser which raised millions of dollars and was donated to the NCAA as a way of 'suggesting' they might want to look into Cheick's ineligibility.

Coach K is discovered to having bribed refs with 75 pounds of fools gold.

The NCAA admits they read KUBuckets and have been posting in Korean as a way of distracting us from the Cheick situation.

The NCAA clears Cheick on April 1, you know their national holiday.

Chinese Spam • Nov 23, 2015 02:58 PM

@dylans I wasn't being serious just so you know!

Chinese Spam • Nov 22, 2015 11:48 PM

@dylans While you're at it could you clean out a few of those fire Bill Self threads?

Self's Comments on Diallo Situation • Nov 22, 2015 01:49 PM

Off topic, but that is a great avatar!

Self vs Cal • Nov 22, 2015 03:17 AM

I don't want KU to become a OAD school which is what Cal would do in your scenario, so no, I wouldn't want him. Part of the fun of college hoops is "getting to know" our players. The revolving door of players means we don't develop an identity, or a rapport with our players. It's fun watching guys mature year by year, Tyshawn Taylor comes to mind. So no, no Cal here.

Brannen Greene • Nov 21, 2015 03:25 PM

@AsadZ Do you really know what transpired in that meeting?

Dunking and deep breaths • Nov 21, 2015 03:20 PM

Or this

Dunking and deep breaths • Nov 21, 2015 03:19 PM

I think you want to see more of this:

Dunking and deep breaths • Nov 21, 2015 03:18 PM

@JRyman It was a good post though, I yell "dunk it" about 5 times a game and have been yelling that for about 3 or 4 years now.

Dunking and deep breaths • Nov 21, 2015 02:13 PM

I think I'll go get some Dunkin donuts.

I tried so hard • Nov 21, 2015 02:10 PM

While Cal has had better finishes than KU, the reality is Cal won one championship just like Self. Sure his teams have gone further, but they also lost in the NIT. And Kentucky fans can't even remember the names of their rent a players or what year it was they played there. I wouldn't trade places with them.

@VailHawk He's suffering from writers cramp and is in timeout.

I've seen the 2nd coming of Danny Manning • Nov 20, 2015 06:33 PM

For those of you young enough to not having the privilege of watching Danny play basketball, the way I remember him is an extremely tall guard like forward. He could score with the best of them, pass well enough that some were calling Danny the next Magic Johnson, and rebound well enough that his rebound totals are in the upper echelons of NCAA history.

Two memorable plays of Danny. One, I was sitting underneath the north goal where I always sat with my buddies. Danny grabs a rebound and throws a full court bounce pass hitting someone in stride for a layin. My viewpoint was right where I could see the thread the needle nature of the pass. It was mind blowing.

The other memory was in the title game and I'm sure many of you remember this. At the end of the half he gets a fast break opportunity. He could have driven uncontested for an easy two, but he curls towards the defender Stacey King so that King would foul him while making the easy lay in.

So far this young season I've gotten down to the Pete Maravich center to watch LSU and Ben Simmons. I always get down there for a couple of games per season because tickets are cheap and good seats are available to wander down to and it's college hoops

But this year is different. I've already been to two games because of Ben Simmons. His game reminds me so much of Danny Manning. He runs the floor extremely well, passes phenomenally and is deadly near the basket. He hasn't shown a dependable outside shot yet but really hasn't needed one, against admittedly weaker competition. But 23 points and 15 rebounds for a freshman against an experienced South Alabama team is nothing to sneeze at, and he should have had 5 or 6 assists except his passes were so good that his teammates simply missed them because they weren't expecting a ball to hit them in the hands.

I suspect that by the end of the season he will be the freshman everybody is talking about. Of course he won't stick around to win a National Championship like Danny so the comparison stops there.

Brannen Greene • Nov 20, 2015 06:12 PM

@MoonwalkMafia

I'm not saying Brannen is being treated harshly, I'm saying Barrett was let off lightly. I wish Brannen would grow up.

Bad Joke Friday • Nov 20, 2015 05:10 PM

Back in the day in a country behind the iron curtain civic unrest forced the commies to issue a strict curfew. Anyone out after dark will be shot on site. No questions asked. So this dude is walking down the street as the sun is setting and one of the KGB pulls up and shoots him. Someone said that's not fair, it's not dark yet. The KGB guy says "I know where he lives and he'll never make it home by dark."

Now the rest of the story. I was writing a final exam at KU in one of those blue books. I wrote for three hours. The prof had been an envoy to the USSR so I thought he'd appreciate the joke. He told me he came across it grading tests at 2 in the morning, and LOLed so much he gave me extra points. I was just on the border between an A and B for the class and those few extra points for my joke got me an A for the class.

Brannen Greene • Nov 20, 2015 04:59 PM

In contrast the starting Ohio St. QB gets arrested for drunk driving and misses one game.

Go to timeout jaybate!

Recruiting updates • Nov 20, 2015 01:46 PM

@SoftballDad2011

Nice post. 5 of those guys are currently logging minutes in the NBA, not including Embiid who hopefully makes it.

If he were a baseball player he'd be phenomenal.

I thought the loss of his cousin Elly Mae, and my neighbor, about to drive by her real house in Zachary Louisiana, was the reason for your disappearance.

Save all the arguments • Nov 20, 2015 04:32 AM

@DoubleDD

Sorry DoubleDD, you've been a good poster here for years, but I just was kind of wowed by your the season is over tone in your post. I don't see everything with red and blue colored glasses, but I am trying to remain a bit more optimistic than some I've seen posting here this week.

Save all the arguments • Nov 19, 2015 05:22 PM

Wow

CHAMINADE SILVERSWORDS • Nov 19, 2015 05:19 PM

@wrwlumpy

The whining crowd will come back when (not if) KU wins in Hawaii which I believe they will.
They'll say they didn't mean it, we misunderstood what they were trying to say, etc.

So I'm not going to be part of the whining crowd, I'm going to be part of (drumroll please) THE WINNING CROWD!! Winning not whining!! (I'll probably whine some before this season is done)

Done Watching KU Bball!! • Nov 19, 2015 02:50 PM

@HawksWin Were you a fan in 1988 (11 regular season losses)? Were you a fan in the last two minutes (losing by 9) of the 2008 season? Or were you done watching KU basketball then too?

I guarantee you watching KU basketball is still better than watching Tom and Jerry or even Donald and Ben.

See you next game!

Statistical Nightmare! • Nov 19, 2015 01:54 AM

I"m not a basketball guru at all, but MSU's FG% rose as the game went on. They were brick city until the comeback. I don't know if our defense was to blame or was it just dadgumit, they got hot? Anyways, we were close, just not good enough in a lot of aspects of the game.

@jaybate-1.0 I invented the word, which you should know something about since you invent a lot of words in your writings!!

BENCH LUCAS (cant play) • Nov 18, 2015 06:05 PM

I remember us yelling collectively at the Morris twins as freshmen. I don't have many great memories of them as freshmen except that they kept losing the ball on the way to the hole and that they kept missing bunnies they could have dunked.

So I could get a few hours of sleep before facing all of these HS freshmen who could care less that KU lost I had to tell myself what you did.

We lost to Michigan St. at a neutral court by 4 or 5 (I don't even know, I turned it off with 20 seconds left). There is no shame in that as you verbaciously iterated.

We lost because Valentine had a career night. but we also lost because Brannen Greene is still 5-5 shooting 3's and none came last night.

We lost because MSU made 3's but we lost because we missed bunny after bunny.

We lost because MSU rebounded the ball, but we lost because our guards weren't ready for their defense.

We lost because Izzo made his boys believe while Self made his boys look lost while the collapse was happening.

Kansas - Michigan State chat • Nov 18, 2015 05:19 AM

Even with being fouled, we've missed a ton of shots at the rim.

COme on Frank...

Kansas - Michigan State chat • Nov 18, 2015 05:03 AM

Michigan state is beating us in every statistical category, better shooting, passing, rebounding, but they're fouling us more, so we're winning.

Kansas - Michigan State chat • Nov 18, 2015 05:01 AM

Costello is getting screwed tonight......thank goodness

Kansas - Michigan State chat • Nov 18, 2015 04:54 AM

Brannan Greene, the best shooter Self has ever had has not taken a shot tonight.
