Thanks Crimson! Where do your kids live specifically if you don't mind saying so?

Sox trying to set a LOB record.

Ok, I'll take the Royals. Quintana pitches great and never gets any run support. He 'leads' the AL the last two years as the least supported pitcher.

Did you find any takers for the White Sox?

@brooksmd I didn't know. Sorry @Crimsonorblue22 !!

It's been fun fellas! RCJHKU

@brooksmd I pay attention to the action, not what the fans are wearing in the stands!

@brooksmd oops, mm jacket!

@brooksmd Wow, you're teaching this Sox fan something! I've never noticed the man in the beige jacket.

Nice insurance run, don't stop now boys!

The African American on the first row behind the plate on the aisle is there every game wearing his Sox jacket.

Did you know that Trayce Thompson, the Sox left fielder for the last month or so is the brother of NBA star Klay Thompson?

@brooksmd Chicago hasn't been kind to KC this week so far.

@brooksmd I am watching it. Multi-tasking. Game on half of comp, you guys on half, facebook on half, and NCIS on TV

That little guy is our 2nd leading homerun hitter believe it or not.

@Crimsonorblue22 Sounds funny coming from a guy who lived in northern wisconsin for 15 years, but the humidity can really make it feel pretty bone chilling. Different kind of cold for sure, but there are a lot of nice winter days as well.

@brooksmd I guess we've sat outside on December and January nights at my daughters soccer matches to not appreciate winter. Gets pretty cold at night.

I hate the weather here. Summers too hot, winters, because of the humidity are kind of raw and chilling. I'd much rather have two feet of snow from December through March.

Nice shot of the city from the upper deck outside balcony.

Sox/Royals supposed to play 19 games if that graphic they just put on is correct. I always thought division teams played 18 games.

I've never seen that before in Sox park. Pretty amazing to see.

@brooksmd, you referring to the Royals fans in the stands?

Implications for basketball? I am still bitter on Duke's treatment in games on big stages. It's only a game from nearly 30 years ago, so I guess I shouldn't be bitter anymore. But Kansas doubles up Duke in the numbers of fouls. We lose by four in the semi's in Dallas.

Maui about 5 years ago, Turnover Tyshawn era of KU hoops. Duke guy takes so many steps he has to stop and take a rest in the middle of his travels, setting up the ridiculous corner three that beat us. And the turnover that a lot of us blamed on Tyshawn in crunch time? HE GOT PUSHED BY DUKE, no call except out of bounds Duke.

In 91 Duke was better than us, so there was no need for the refs to cheat them to victory.

Now, it didn't involve KU of course, but my suitor on the side, Wisconsin got screwed out of the chance to win the national championship when the officials decided to finish the game with 13 whistles against the Badgers against 2 for coach Krud, all after we were up by 10. The most egregious in my mind besides the replay controversy was their hot guard in that game, I've repressed the memory of his name, drives against Koenig, bloodies Koenigs chops with a forearm shiver and sinks the circus shot and gets the and 1 opportunity.

So yes, there are refs who may not like a team like Texas, and I have no clue who that guy was that complained, I saw it too. I'm not totally sure why the refs would be against a flagship football team because the NCAA needs teams like Texas to be relevant in football. But it looks like they got shafted. But there are also teams that get the abundance of favorable calls, and frankly, that's us too quite often I'd say.

@Crimsonorblue22

Sox own the Royals, so 2-1 Sox :)

what’s going to win this? I say hr.

You win the prophet of the day award if such a thing existed.

I wish this game was on TV. ESPN is showing StL/PItt. Pitt gets a lot of air time because of their exciting team and beautiful stadium.

@wissoxfan83

Of course, just as I typed that St. Louis scores off Pitt in the top of the 9th. I'm good at jinxing tonight!

The other playoff type game tonight, StLouis and Pittsburgh is 0-0 in the 9th also. Two great games between four great teams.

I just deleted my post, maybe that will undo the damage I've done!

@brooksmd Beat the Cubs that's all that matters for this Cub hater!

I Don't Care Either • Sep 29, 2015 01:26 AM

@Texas-Hawk-10 I'm not convinced that football success drives basketball success. None of the hoops bluebloods are considered football powerhouses. In fact if memory serves, we are the only blueblood, Duke, UK, UNC, and us to even get invited to a BCS game ever.

@brooksmd Really? I'm not watching. Sorry :(

Dare I say it? No hi....... nah, I won't ruin it.

I Don't Care Either • Sep 28, 2015 10:42 PM

@Texas-Hawk-10 I think I recall reading you're fairly young. Since the 80's when I attended KU it was the same problem. We went to the games as students because we had to buy them to get football tickets. No one cared then either.

I do understand your point about the double edged sword. Give to the program and it might improve. What were the numbers like when we had good teams in the early 90's and 7-9 years ago? Did giving increase?

@Statmachine Since you got insider status apparently, could you ask the coach for us what the heck he was thinking last year with his fools gold statement? :)

I Don't Care Either • Sep 28, 2015 04:14 PM

@Texas-Hawk-10 I will defend @nuleafjhawk He has been on this site for years talking about the football team. He cares more about KU football here than most of us. He's fed up with this embarrassing program. No one out there gives a rip about what a few of us hoops fanatics writes on KUBuckets. I doubt Mr. Beatty is reading our stuff, nor is the AD. This is just a fan site. We love talking hoops, like you do, but to blame a poster on a website for the demise of a football program is laying blame at the feet of the wrong people.

@Crimsonorblue22 You wouldn't have found anyone here a year ago speaking ill of Cliff. He didn't work out for us, that's really what I meant by what I said.

I've never cared about who has the most pro potential. And I know Svi is high on these lists, but the fact (?) is that Graham does more for our team than Svi at this moment. Bleacher Report doesn't follow the team like we do. We know the team better than them. We all know Graham helped this team more than Svi last year and with an available guard position possibly means he gets the nod.

As a lot of us have said, right now it looks like the season hinges on Diallo. If he is eligible then doesn't have a productive season, or isn't given the chance like Cliff, then we're better than last year, but Elite 8 is probably the ceiling. If he plays up to billing, then we've got that powerhouse lineup that wins a lot of games and potentially wins it all.

Jaybadgers' Shirt • Sep 27, 2015 01:09 AM

@nuleafjhawk Were you rejected by Yale or Harvard or something? :)

Jaybadgers' Shirt • Sep 26, 2015 09:01 PM

I wear my Jayhawks gear or Badgers gear here in Louisiana and people notice the Badgers because of football. I wore a Badgers shirt and hat to an LSU baseball game two days after they lost to Duke and got not one comment from anyone.

Here they'll sell some more tickets for basketball because of Simmons coming in, but it won't make much of a ripple. I'll sure go and enjoy the show however.

I have seen similar shirts on Facebook. I supposed they market it to me based on my likes.

As for other teams, I generally cheer for Big10 teams in football and basketball, but I do loathe Iowa and Minnesota and will not cheer for them.

Royals Join The Big 12.... • Sep 26, 2015 02:50 AM

Congrats from a Sox fan, and boo hoo for Sports Illustrated who picked them to win 74 games and the Indians to win the World Series

Incessant Diallo checking • Sep 25, 2015 01:22 AM

I just check here since I know there's a direct line to kubuckets from NCAA.

Man, I must be getting old! The thought of standing in line for hours on end to see a show featuring KU's players just doesn't appeal to me. I would stand in line for hours on end to see them play Central Idaho State Southwestern Tech but Late Night, nah!

Andy Katz • Sep 24, 2015 01:52 PM

There's big ifs for this to be reality.

If Cheick plays

If BG shoots it all season instead of just the first half

If Wayne carries over his nice little international run with more superb play and IF he plays consistently

If Svi can keep up at a DI pace and shoot it like we think he can

If Perry can play big when he needs to

If Frank can nip the out of control in the bud like he did almost all of last year

If Bill coaches it the way WE think he should :)

Those are too many ifs for this pessimist, but I do see top 4 potential for this team.

He played in 14 world series and won the World Series 10 of the 18 seasons he played. How about that, in my best Mel Allen voice.
