Two going on so far.

A&M is up 1 at half over Providence 28-27. Both teams building brick houses from the floor

Purdue up 4 at the under 4 timeout. Also building brick houses from the floor so far.

Mar 16, 2018 05:33 PM #2

Purdue stretched the lead to 9 at half

Mar 16, 2018 05:46 PM #3

Purdue looking like we did yesterday.

Mar 16, 2018 05:49 PM #4

A&M up 6 early in the 2nd half.

While Early, at the under 12 timeout, Wichita is down 3 to Marshall. Lynn must be at least 10 deep by now

Mar 16, 2018 05:57 PM #5

Didn't realize Marshall has two 20 point scorers on their team. Still up 1 at the 8 minute mark

Mar 16, 2018 05:58 PM #6

Providence, A&M tied at 50 with 8 left in the 2nd half.

Purdue crushing CSF now

Mar 16, 2018 06:08 PM #7

Thundering Herd +7 under 4 timeout

Mar 16, 2018 06:08 PM #8

WSU just chucking 3s from the cheap seats, down by 6 late in the first half.

Mar 16, 2018 06:09 PM #9

Foul trouble for Wichita.

Frannie the only shocker playing well

Mar 16, 2018 06:10 PM #10

So far Cincinnati hasn't realized Georgia St's leading scorer at 21 a game needs to be covered. Has all 8 points early

Mar 16, 2018 06:10 PM #11

@BeddieKU23 I think they’ll be fine once someone tells them at half time that no one on Marshall’s team can stop Shaq. Marshall should be up more WSU is shooting 32% right now.

Mar 16, 2018 06:12 PM #12

@kjayhawks

Not many can cover that offensive lineman

Mar 16, 2018 06:14 PM #13

A&M is going to beat Providence unless a miracle happens

Mar 16, 2018 06:14 PM #14

This is crazy. Simonds of Georgia St has 13 points. The team has 13 points..

Mar 16, 2018 06:14 PM #15

@BeddieKU23 that was a weak T on Marshall the team lol right there.

Mar 16, 2018 06:16 PM #16

Simonds with 16. Beating Cincinnati all by himself

Mar 16, 2018 06:17 PM #17

@Buster-1926

Terrible call. That's Higgins for ya

Mar 16, 2018 06:18 PM #18

I’m sorry be the refs just turned this game wow.

Mar 16, 2018 06:19 PM #19

Its a shame they changed the entire game with a switch.

Mar 16, 2018 06:23 PM #20

I bet WSU wins by 20 now.

Mar 16, 2018 07:11 PM #21

Marshall battling like crazy, Conner is on fire and keeping WSU ahead

Mar 16, 2018 07:26 PM #22

My live stream quit saying I needed to sign in. Anyone else have this problem? Half day at school meaning I could watch this afternoon. Looks like I'm missing some good games.

Mar 16, 2018 07:36 PM #23

Sooooo Butler came to play as usual.

Mar 16, 2018 07:37 PM #24

Buster 1926 said:

Shamut only one basket in 2nd half. WSU many turnovers & Herd with 11 steals Lead only 3 with 35 ticks.. Nailbiter now. WSU no to’s Herd wit 2

Wish Marshall hit their fts earlier.

Mar 16, 2018 07:38 PM #25

Jeez, Butler 21-2 over Arkansas with 7 minutes gone in the first half.

Mar 16, 2018 07:40 PM #26

Finish them off Thundering Herd!

Mar 16, 2018 07:41 PM #27

Refs are killing the momentum of the WSU/Marshall finish.

Mar 16, 2018 07:43 PM #28

That should be Marshall ball

Mar 16, 2018 07:44 PM #29

You call the play out to Wichita and then immediately walk to the monitor

Mar 16, 2018 07:44 PM #30

The ending of this game is a travesty. REPLAY REPLAY REPLAY REPLAY REPLAY.

Mar 16, 2018 07:46 PM #31

WSU was overrated all season long.

Mar 16, 2018 07:46 PM #32

Woot woot bye marsha

Mar 16, 2018 07:47 PM #33

Lynn blacked out a while ago they will have to let her know they lost

Mar 16, 2018 07:47 PM #34

Go home shockers!!!

Mar 16, 2018 07:47 PM #35

Another 13 seed wins... Cah-rap schooooot!

Mar 16, 2018 07:47 PM #36

@Kcmatt7 Didn't play angry enough I guess.

Annnnddd.... cue the pictures recording Lynn Marshall getting in an altercation with a fan.....

Mar 16, 2018 07:49 PM #39

HOLY SCHNIKES! Wichita St plays a good team and loses. How weird..........................

Mar 16, 2018 07:50 PM #40

Now, how 'bout a Marshall - WVU matchup on Sunday?

Mar 16, 2018 07:51 PM #41

@BShark Ouch. That one is gonna leave a mark.

Mar 16, 2018 07:52 PM #42

@BShark Their resume was no better than Seton Hall's imo. Got pumped up by the media. Defense was putrid all season long. Bit them in the ass today.

Mar 16, 2018 07:55 PM #43

Forget about the 12-v-5 upsets...this year it's all about the 13s.

Charleston over Auburn, anyone?

Mar 16, 2018 08:01 PM #44

I used to cheer for the shocks but their fan bases arrogance rivals KSUs. Have a couple of good years and think you’re a national power. GTFO! They are finding out, when you don’t play in a typewriter maintenance league, you can rest starters for 10 minutes the last 2 months of the year.

Mar 16, 2018 08:04 PM #45

kjayhawks said:

And its harder to be the hunted than to be the underdog. Now that everyone talks about them, the pressure is on them to perform. A little dose of reality is all. This is the sort of thing the blue bloods have to deal with every game.

Mar 16, 2018 08:04 PM #46

@kjayhawks I find their fan base much more obnoxious than KSU. Many KSU fans I know are quite realistic about Bruce and their program at this point.

Mar 16, 2018 08:11 PM #47

@BShark speaking more towards KSU football. Claim to be a national power and have had a decade of domination, even tho you won one conference title in that decade (2012 came later), while 2 other conference foes won multiple and some NCs.

Mar 16, 2018 08:11 PM #48

Gregg Marshall should've taken the big-money coaching offer(s) while he had the chance. That loss could cost him a million or two when he moves on to his next gig.

Mar 16, 2018 08:11 PM #49

@kjayhawks Yeah they are pretty delusional about football especially their older fans.

Mar 16, 2018 08:11 PM #50

@nwhawkfan He is perfect for Wichita why would he ever leave?

Mar 16, 2018 08:12 PM #51

Just keep cashing them Koch checks imo.

Mar 16, 2018 08:14 PM #52

@BShark Ya, my question always is who did they dominate? Being statically the 4th best team in a conference over a decade isn’t celebrated anywhere but Manhattan, KS. I’ve been giving my KSU buddies trash about after finishing 4th in B.B. this season it will be no time before they are playing on Bruce Weber “squeak court”.

Mar 16, 2018 08:17 PM #53

@BShark Gregg Marshall @ WSU = Mark Few @ Gonzaga.

Given that they're both coaches in similar situations (i.e., big fish in a small pond), wonder who leaves first?

Mar 16, 2018 08:19 PM #54

Forgive me if this has already been mentioned - Does anyone else remember the last time two #13 seeds advanced in the First Round? Hmmm - believe it was 2008. Oh - the Final Four is in San Antonio this year, correct? Wasn't it also in San Antonio in 2008? Hmmm. Seems like something else significant happened in 2008.....

Mar 16, 2018 08:21 PM #55

@nwhawkfan Marshall will never leave WSU. Any A.D. with basketball knowledge knows he's all smoke and mirrors.

Mar 16, 2018 08:25 PM #56

@nuleafjhawk Still, there's gotta be a school out there with a big budget that's willing to spend beaucoup bucks so they can make a splash with a big-name coach.

(see: Charlie Weis)

Mar 16, 2018 08:30 PM #57

@nwhawkfan I've ALWAYS seen Marshall as a charlatan. He puts together enough wins against nobody teams in weak leagues and sprinkles in 1 or 2 upsets per year against teams that are short on depth or have injured players and the media thinks he's the next Bill Self, John Wooden, Roy Williams, Dean Smith, Bob Knight, (Fill in the blank with your favorite Hall of Fame Coach).

He's not.

He's the wizard of oz. PAY NO ATTENTION TO THE MAN BEHIND THE CURTAIN.

Mar 16, 2018 08:44 PM #58

I looked long and hard at the Marshall / WSU matchup and on my three brackets, I picked WSU all three times. I did not see it coming. Also didn't anticipate a Buffalo win, let alone a blow-out.

Mar 16, 2018 08:56 PM #59

@bskeet I didn’t pick WSU far in any bracket but yes the Arizona upset killed a few of mybrackets. The South is the weakest bracket IMO and I picked them to the FF because of their talent and how they were playing the last few weeks. An upset is one thing but that was the most lopped side I remember a 4-13 game that a 13 won.

Mar 16, 2018 08:57 PM #60

Assuming WVU wins it will be an all West Virginia matchup Sunday. I always like it when that happens except the last time there was an all Kansas NCAA tournament matchup of course.

Mar 16, 2018 09:56 PM #61

Mar 16, 2018 09:58 PM #62

@nwhawkfan Mark Few is better than Marsha, Few has won 19 of the last 22 conference regular season titles, Marsha has 3 in 11 years at WSU, not in the same ball park IMO.

Mar 16, 2018 10:22 PM #63

Wichita St. Why do I enjoy them losing? Why does a team that I used to love make me want to wish losses on them all the time? Why does the shiny dome, that grosteque, monsterous forehead that at times appears to stick out a full 8 inches, seem to visualize the Shlocker program for me. That's the Mona Lisa for me... MASSIVE FOREHEAD = SHLOCKERS. I hate punks and coaches that are punks.

Mar 16, 2018 10:24 PM #64

Looks like WV is holding against Murray St - both literally on almost every possession and being up 14 with under 4 minutes left

Mar 16, 2018 10:26 PM #65

Free throws are kind of an important part of the game....

Mar 16, 2018 10:28 PM #66

Great end of game gameplan...or not

Mar 16, 2018 10:29 PM #67

What kind of inbound play was that Shaka?!!

Boy Texas and OU gave away games at the line.

Mar 16, 2018 10:47 PM #72

Wow. What a long, slow, painful journey to defeat by Texas..

Mar 16, 2018 10:48 PM #73

I know I should be rooting for B12 teams, but sometimes they are just so unlikeable.

Mar 16, 2018 10:49 PM #74

Also, Eric Musselman's wife... I can see why she got so much camera time.

Mar 16, 2018 11:00 PM #75

BRUUUUCE

Mar 16, 2018 11:15 PM #76

Do you see any KState fans at the game? Good grief, the entire section behind the KState bench is empty. Creighton has a lot of fans.

Mar 16, 2018 11:21 PM #77

I had Rhode Island over OU, Marshall over WSU and Nevada over UT. But AZ only to the Elite Eight.

Mar 16, 2018 11:40 PM #78

@BShark The "play" he called at the end of regulation was just awful...

Bruce gonna get another tournament win tho.

Mar 17, 2018 12:49 AM #80

Sometimes I forget that Bruce can coach. Especially if you give him a week to gameplan. Absolutely just outcoached McD today.

Mar 17, 2018 01:37 AM #81

Charleston with key free throw misses

Mar 17, 2018 01:43 AM #82

Wow Charleston really coughed up a lot of chances to win. Auburn very very fortunate to win.

Mar 17, 2018 01:47 AM #83

@HawkChamp When the brackets came out I mentioned to some friends that SHU scares me way more than Auburn. Which probably means that KU beats SHU and loses to Auburn but heh...

Mar 17, 2018 01:49 AM #84

And the ref misses a game changing call at the end. What’s new?

Mar 17, 2018 01:53 AM #85

@HighEliteMajor I would say the refs played a major hand missing that foul on the 3 and with how many Fts auburn shot, but Charleston missed so many free ones down the stretch it killed them I think they went 3 for 9 in last 2 minutes.

Mar 17, 2018 02:41 AM #86

Thanks to the Sooners and the Horns for representing the B12

If the Toads dont play they will be the next victims

After Higgins last yr, theres gonna be a lot of lynch mobs. Refs make bad calls or miss calls, but teams cant let games come down to those calls.

Mar 17, 2018 02:53 AM #91

UMBC looking good...might stun the cavs

Mar 17, 2018 02:54 AM #92

Losing this game makes Bennett 100% unhireable by any blue bloods lol.

Mar 17, 2018 02:54 AM #93

Virginia down 14 points with 16 minutes left.

Mar 17, 2018 02:57 AM #98

Hey most agreed a 16 would win someday, could it be today? Long ways to go.

Mar 17, 2018 02:57 AM #99

This is why I'm glad we play a faster pace than UVA.

Mar 17, 2018 02:58 AM #100

Boy wouldn't it be nice to hit some 3s right now, Tony?

Mar 17, 2018 02:59 AM #101

Virginia is getting tight now

Mar 17, 2018 02:59 AM #102

Dependency on going inside because they can't hit 3s when they need them.

Mar 17, 2018 03:00 AM #103

Not sure about Bennett's record, but I think he has a little bit more to play before the bloods look at him.
Boeheim retiring after this year?
Dook may go after him, but K is going to be much like Snyder. They will put him on life-support and put him on the side lines.

Mar 17, 2018 03:01 AM #104

They absolutely need to speed up their offense....but they aren't built to do it. THIS IS HAPPENING GUYS.

Mar 17, 2018 03:01 AM #105

A tight team that also plays a slow pace was the exact recipe for this type of upset.

Mar 17, 2018 03:01 AM #106

@Kcmatt7 I had some UNI flashbacks.

Mar 17, 2018 03:02 AM #107

Sitting here in my UVA shirt, wishing it was some other 1 seed that lost in first round. Hang this albatross around Duke's neck, Syracuse, someone I despise.

Mar 17, 2018 03:02 AM #108

Virginia isn’t geared to come back with how they struggle to score for minutes at a time, if UMBC can keep it Double Digits till around 8 minutes Virginia will start sweating like crazy,

Mar 17, 2018 03:04 AM #109

Good board. let's go.. good look, lets do it again. get loose.

Mar 17, 2018 03:04 AM #110

That noose around Virginia’s neck is starting to get awfully tight. What a pitiful performance so far. They need to make up 16 points in 11 minutes when they’ve only scored 29 points in 29 minutes.

Mar 17, 2018 03:04 AM #111

A 16-0 run would be the most efficient way eh? :)

Mar 17, 2018 03:05 AM #112

I remember seeing UMBC play in their conf championship game. Don't remember any details, but I was thinking...they don't look that good....I hope we play them. UVA is going to have a tough time coming back given that they play such a deliberate offense.

Mar 17, 2018 03:05 AM #113

@tis4tim KU has had some point a minute long stretches this year so I can relate... However of course this KU team has the ability to score in bunches. Don't think UVA does...

Mar 17, 2018 03:05 AM #114

Down 13 with 9:45.

Mar 17, 2018 03:06 AM #115

UVA can score in bunches but its when the other team gets rattled and rushed leading to easy buckets. Don't think they can score in bunches when they're down.

Mar 17, 2018 03:11 AM #124

This is brutal. The consolation is that Virginia was unranked coming into the year and lost their most athletic player. Unfortunately, nobody will look for astericks when jackass announcers remind people for the next decade that UVA was the first 1 to lose to a 16. The overall 1 even!

Mar 17, 2018 03:11 AM #125

Mar 17, 2018 03:20 AM #142

Well I'm kind of hoping Lyles torches Squeaky next game.

Just as likely the fall back to earth and KSU destroys them.

Style of play, is all I’ll say. Made UVA vulnerable. I never want to return to that slug it out style. The high/low can be dynamic. I believe Self is well aware of that. Already excited for next season.

Mar 17, 2018 03:32 AM #168

Virginia’s defense is MIA.

Mar 17, 2018 03:33 AM #169

Wellp, hopefully this is both a wake up call and loosens us up.

Mar 17, 2018 03:33 AM #170

We won't be the highest rated team to go down first. Now let's get loose and torch the field!

Mar 17, 2018 03:34 AM #171

This was awesome.

Virginia destroyed by 20...historical day in NCAA. ACC in mourning.

Welp. Kentucky’s road just got a lot easier.

Mar 17, 2018 03:36 AM #176

KSU was handed a gift, a team with a victory hangover.

Mar 17, 2018 03:38 AM #177

Feeling great about my Kentucky FF pick.

Mar 17, 2018 03:38 AM #178

@BShark Vegas is pretty high on Buffalo for what it’s worth

Mar 17, 2018 03:40 AM #179

@BShark Yes, I debated between UK and Arizona...went with Arizona because of Ayton.....wish I could have that back.

Mar 17, 2018 03:40 AM #180

@Buster-1926 Well in fairness, this loss wasn't Bennett losing on just X's and O's tonight, this team wasn't built to win this game. Their pace was too slow, 100% dependent on playing inside out, not terribly athletic and didn't know what to do with Lyles (+ injury to hunter).

Mar 17, 2018 03:40 AM #181

Any the south, which most including myself thought was weak and any team could win is turning into a cake walk for UK.

Ultimately I went with UK because of Calipari vs Sean Miller in March.

Florida State abusing Missouri 42-20 at the half, 7 points from FTs and only 13 from the field for MU.

Mar 17, 2018 03:48 AM #186

Not gonna talk about how I had Missouri in the EE tho.

Mar 17, 2018 03:49 AM #187

I honestly feel bad for The Virginia players, they played great all year and had one terrible game UMBC shot lights out and played better than they could’ve dreamed of. KSU has a great shot to make the sweet 16. I really will be pissed if KSU goes further than us. I’m in shock I really am.

Mar 17, 2018 03:53 AM #188

Not the same but reminds me of the 2010 loss. Must be very heartbreaking for that fan base as that loss was for ours. Basketball is evolving and the talent gap is closing. Seems like seeds mean less and less every year.

Mar 17, 2018 03:59 AM #189

Syracuse can suck it. Man, how I despise that team and especially Boeheim.

Mar 17, 2018 04:00 AM #190

Well looks like the Big 12 goes 4-3 in the first round. Sadly the 3 losses were games I felt that were given away. If OU or Texas would hit a modest perentage from the line or TCU wouldn’t have had some silly turnovers and missed a ton of open 3s.

Mar 17, 2018 04:00 AM #191

So if TCU goes down....of the 4 B12 teams left...we have the toughest game.....How the heck did that happen?

And there you have it... no 1 seed goes down to a 16

welcome to the essential nature of the ncaa hunger games.

Survive and try to advance

Mar 17, 2018 04:20 AM #194

Go ahead and run all the stats and numbers and ranking and power indexes you can run about Virginia compared to UMBC.

It’s still college age kids playing a game against each other. It was eventually bound to happen 1 going down to a 16.

Mar 17, 2018 04:27 AM #195

@tis4tim but they might slow down MSU

Mar 17, 2018 04:33 AM #196

@SkinnyKansasDude The 2010 UNI loss is not even in the same ball park as this. UMBC is the worst rated team in the tournament in several formulas. UNI was a 3 loss team that was ranked in #23 in the country going into the tournament and a top 35 team in nearly every ratings that I saw. A 1 seed loses in the second nearly every year compared to a 16 seed never having won before tonight. The UNI was painful but not historically the biggest upset arguably of all time in the sport.

Well he did pick Missouri over KU...

Mar 17, 2018 04:50 AM #199

@kjayhawks I literally just said it reminded me of it. We were the number one overall and lost very early in the tournament and it was a very painful loss. Thank you for taking the time to explain the magnitude of this loss though. Even though all of social media has been talking about it for the last 2 hours your explanation really was the best. Great job.

Mar 17, 2018 05:01 AM #200

@SkinnyKansasDude Please stay with rational discussion and leave out the personal attacks.

Unless you're talking about Missouri players. Then feel free to call them tools :)

Mar 17, 2018 08:53 AM #201

@approxinfinity

Porter did not help himself playing this late and not looking good. He will now move to the NBA having won zero games in college; no wonder he was crying at the end of the game.

I bet Ayton was also crying thinking why did I not pick Kansas?

Mar 17, 2018 11:01 AM #202

@JayHawkFanToo add Trae to your list

Mar 17, 2018 11:33 AM #203

@Bwag - Man, could you imagine the discontent on this team among our guards, playing time-wise and shots-wise, if Young would have come here? Not sure we would have been a better “team” with Young. Ayton on the other hand, well, I wish we would have bid $110,000.

Mar 17, 2018 01:04 PM #204

@HighEliteMajor

With Ayton KU would have been a heavy favorite...or even Preston...

Mar 17, 2018 01:15 PM #205

There is a very large gap between Ayton and Preston. Still it would have been nice to get anything out of Billy.

Mar 17, 2018 01:19 PM #206

I always wonder how deflated Trae's stat line would have been if he played for Bill Self? I am not sure that Trae would have played his way in to the draft lotto if he were on our team? I personally think he made the right decision to showcase his talent to make the big bucks.

Definitely not going to be close to the same usage rate. I agree he made the right choice.

Mar 17, 2018 03:03 PM #209

I saw this item this morning .. the biggest upset in the tourney, as far as the spread goes, is still Norfolk St. over Missouri. MU was favored by 21 1/2. Apparently UVA was favored by 20 vs. UMBC.

Mar 17, 2018 03:27 PM #210

@HighEliteMajor But missouri only lost by like three. Virginia was blown out.

Mar 17, 2018 03:33 PM #211

@Kcmatt7 Pretty good for KSU to win without their best big man... oh yeah KU did that too!
