Diallo is Cleared! Now what? • Nov 25, 2015 09:19 PM

@HawkInMizery I'd include Traylor as well, both of them should only get mop up minutes

Diallo is Cleared! Now what? • Nov 25, 2015 09:09 PM

@drgnslayr I agree, Top recruits are watching PT very closely. If HCBS wants to recruit top notch, 1-20, talent he will have to play them even through their mistakes. This will also provide benefits in March

Diallo is Cleared! Now what? • Nov 25, 2015 08:42 PM

From what I have read & seen on tapes he will have an immediate impact on D and rebounding, offense will take some time. While I have nothing personal against Traylor & Lucas I hope that these two don't get much PT except for when games are already over.

Self needs to play Bragg, Mickelson & Diallo as other Bigs besides Perry, they have the most upside for March.

Diallo Is Finally Free • Nov 25, 2015 08:37 PM

Step closer to FF & NC

Diallo Is Finally Free • Nov 25, 2015 08:35 PM

Just saw the news that Diallo has been cleared to play from 1 Dec. Great News. Rock Chalk

PERRY • Nov 25, 2015 08:31 PM

Perry looks much more athletic this year, great news for us bad news for our opponents

FREE DIALLO • Nov 25, 2015 08:30 PM

@drgnslayr Lol Nice work

VANDERBILT COMMODORES • Nov 25, 2015 08:29 PM

KU is still more talented and athletic team. If we play to our strengths - fast pace, greater perimeter focus, we will have no problem winning this game

VANDERBILT COMMODORES • Nov 25, 2015 08:26 PM

Impressive pics, thanks for sharing

Brannen Greene • Nov 25, 2015 08:12 PM

@ralster If Bill Self is such a disciplinarian than punishment for Snacks should have been severe. Snacks is coaching college kids, 18-22 year olds. He is recruiting HS kids, some as young as 16. How do parents feel when they get a visit from a coach who is doing illegal drugs, got caught and did not notify his boss. Could this issue be hurting KU recruiting? Why did Bill Self did not fire Snacks? I see double standards here Ralster.

Ralster, I am trying to identify the issues I am seeing with KU BB. I don't dislike HCBS. I like him a lot. As I had said before I used to show his work to my own children as an inspiration. But is clear to me that Bill is losing the edge and I want that changed for KUs sake.

I don't like continued early exits in the tourney. On top of that I see HCBS mishandling and misusing talent available to him. He has more BB knowledge than all of us combined but I cant understand the unjust treatment towards players like Mickelson & Greene, its pathetic that Traylor & Lucas are getting more PT than Mickelson, makes no sense to me whatsoever. He has misled fans with his conflicting comments, recall how he talked about learning at the WUG. When it comes to game days he is inflexible and not changing with time, I see him getting outcoached more & more. Recall how coach K implemented a zone strategy in the middle of the season when his team was struggling and it started to pay off the dividends, another NC banner for coach K. How often has coach Self implemented changes during crunch time in the last 2 years? Please tell me?

Ralster I am sure that you will agree with me that this year we have a NC caliber potential team, talent + experience but I am afraid that above issues could come in the way, another early exit will be hard to swallow Ralster, I hope not.

Brannen Greene • Nov 25, 2015 02:55 PM

@SoftballDad2011 All venues are not the same, different feel & experience

Brannen Greene • Nov 25, 2015 02:25 PM

@KUSTEVE I'd love nothing more, I want to win the NC. Its about time now.

Brannen Greene • Nov 25, 2015 02:19 PM

@ralster I agree that BG did not handle it properly but the punishment was too severe. Coach Self has double standards. Recall how fans including yourself was asking Self to fire Snacks after his drug incident had come to light. And we all saw how Self had handled that incident.

Brannen Greene • Nov 25, 2015 02:14 PM

@SoftballDad2011 Its not about tropical vacation. Its about playing in Maui tournament. Coach has double standards here. His punishment towards Snacks & Traylor was no way near as harsh as towards BG. People on this board were asking Self to fire Snacks immediately for what he did and we all know how Self had responded?

Brannen Greene • Nov 25, 2015 02:12 PM

@Crimsonorblue22 Punishment was too severe & harsh. BTW I like how BG shows emotion on the court. We need more flavor from KU players on the court

Brannen Greene • Nov 25, 2015 02:10 PM

@KUSTEVE People can laugh all day long. I care about KU BB and I am asking for improvement over the areas I have highlighted in several posts. You may very well be happy with the way things are going on over the last couple of years & that's fine with me, you have your own right. But I am not happy nor satisfied with Self's performance and I am asking him to learn from his mistakes & make changes. That's very fair as a KU BB fan.

Brannen Greene • Nov 25, 2015 01:21 PM

@ralster I have pointed out the issues as I see them with Self. I have acknowledged that he has been a great coach and HOF caliber but his issues over the last few years are crystal clear, can't hide the facts, and I can understand that truth hurts.

You may not like it. That's OK. But I will continue to demand for improvement and accountability from Self.

You label BG demanding PT as disturbing team chemistry and a locker room cancer. I don't view these in a similar fashion. He has all right to ask for more PT. I agree that the situation could have gotten messy in the locker room but 6 game suspension is too much, simply Cruel. The kid could not play in Korea due to injury and now the coach took away once in a life time experience of playing in Maui away from him. Very Harsh treatment.

U-C-L-A • Nov 24, 2015 03:28 PM

I really hope that coach will let them play freely and don't hold back on the 3-pt shooting. Its no secret that KU has trouble scoring inside against L&A and I hope that coach will keep 3-pt shooting an integral part of the offense.

Nice work Bate, very touching, put tears in my eyes.

Since his recent punishment I am really rooting for BG. I like his attitude on the court. We need more players to show some flavor on the floor.

Poor kid missed out on Korea experience and now his dream of playing in Maui, once in a lifetime opportunity, was taken away. Despite getting limited PT he has stuck it out so far. He is a Jayhawk at heart and I respect him for that.

Lets hope that he graduates from KU with flying colors, gets a solid college career as a BB player and a has a long professional career in the L.

Barring any unforeseen collapse KU should win this tournament without much difficulty. We have the best team here.

Personally I do not care who we play, I want KU to get better. I want to see an improved Bill Self.

I would love KU players to have a great learning and enjoyable experience as playing CBB in this type of an event is a once in a life time opportunity.

NCAA info, lets let them hear from KU fans • Nov 23, 2015 05:45 PM

@JRyman Great suggestion. Let us join forces to fight this NCAA non-sense

Brannen Greene • Nov 23, 2015 05:31 PM

@Hawk8086 I am on board with that and lets see how things turn out over the course of this year. Personally I will be Ok if we don't win the Big 12 as long as we have a deep run in the tourney although getting both will be really fun. And I hope that we get to see an improved version of Bill Self in the areas I have been advocating here.

@HighEliteMajor I agree with you. Furthermore, while Self has been a great coach, one of the best in the business, I believe that he has enjoyed the benefit of playing mostly in AFH where home field advantage is a big X factor and has contributed heavily towards the 0.821.

Brannen Greene • Nov 23, 2015 02:03 PM

@Hawk8086 I agree that Self has been a great coach. He has won a lot of games although I do believe that he has benefited from playing mostly in AFH where home crowd is a big X factor that has helped his winning %.

I do not dislike him. Actually I like him a lot. I used to show his work to my children as an inspiration. What I am trying to point out is that over the last 2-3 years things have not been the same. Losses are increasing. We are exiting the tourney early to inferior teams. Recruiting misses are increasing and what's most frustrating is how Self is continuing to mismanage the talent. He has talent in the team. The team has experience. But he continues to force his philosophy on the players that is working against their talent. Why recruit players like AW3, Greene, CF when you don't use their arsenal and send wrong message to them by using comments like Fools Gold. I am sure you can understand what I am saying here. He continues to put a square peg through a round hole. The other issue with Self is that he is not good at coaching during the games. He is either not capable or refuses to make changes during the game based on the situation at hand. As such he is getting outcoached more & more. He refuses to learn from his mistakes. After the WUG he made a comment to the effect that I learned a lot here, and I was really encouraged that he will make some changes to his style. But so far it has been the same old Self.

In summary while he has a great track record at KU the recent body of work is on the wrong track and I believe that he is losing the edge, and don't forget that he gets paid a lot of money.

Is it unfair to ask for accountability?

Brannen Greene • Nov 23, 2015 12:56 PM

@DoubleDD Exactly. Sending wrong message to the players. Self needs to be held accountable.

Brannen Greene • Nov 23, 2015 12:33 AM

Crimson Yes, I am feeling sad especially for Greene

Paralysis By Analysis - The Self Dilemma • Nov 23, 2015 12:03 AM

@sfbahawk No one is asking to read my posts. Its your own choice.

Brannen Greene • Nov 23, 2015 12:00 AM

Its not just about one game. Its about how things have been going on for the past 2 plus years. Its about not playing your best players. Its about punishing deserving players from getting PT. Its about continuing to force players to play in a way that is against their strengths. Its about my way or the highway attitude. Its about continued early losses in the tourney. Its about recruiting failures. The list goes on.

I will always be a KU die hard fan.

I know a lot of UCONN Fans and I can tell you that they are very happy with all of the NCs. I would trade many of our Big 12 conference titles with few more FFs and NCs any day.

North Carolina • Nov 22, 2015 05:33 PM

I don't care about UNC. I care about KU. I want our program to be on top. I want to see FF banners and more NCs. I want fair treatment with players. I don't want to see double standards. I want our coach to be flexible and better utilize the talent and arsenal available to him and not get stuck with old ways.

Brannen Greene • Nov 22, 2015 05:27 PM

@Bwag Very well said

@MoonwalkMafia Well said. When KU has another early exit after somehow winning the Big 12 some fans will remain happy & content in that Yes HCBS did it in his way

Brannen Greene • Nov 22, 2015 05:20 PM

@dylans I guess when KU has another early exit after somehow winning the Big 12 and getting a high seed you will remain happy & content in that HCBS did it in his way

Bate, I ask you to be honest with yourself and answer these questions:

  1. Are you happy with the continued early exits in the tourney
  2. Are you happy with the direction our program is headed
  3. Are you happy with mishandling and misusing talent available to him, keeping in mind the Fools Gold comment
  4. Are you happy with his unjust treatment towards players like Mickelson & Greene
  5. Are you happy with his double standards, recall how he has handled the punishment to Snacks & Traylor versus how he has treated other players like BG
  6. Are you happy with his allotment of minutes to the bench players, playing Traylor over Mickelson, makes no sense whatsoever
  7. Are you happy with his conflicting comments, recall how he talked about learning at the WUG but so far back to the same old pounding it inside
  8. Are you happy with him being inflexible and not changing with time
  9. Are you happy with him getting outcoached more & more
  10. Are you happy with his recruiting approach

The list can go on. Bate, We are KANSAS. Our BB program will go on. But we can't carry on like we have been for the past few years. We need and deserve better. It starts at the top.

Brannen Greene • Nov 22, 2015 04:57 PM

@dylans Thanks. I am a die hard KU BB fan and will always be but I am tired of seeing KU program going downhill and injustice to KU players at the hands of our HC

@SoftballDad2011 Yeah right and now you start personal attacks. Its time you take off your HCBS glasses off and look in the mirror.

Paralysis By Analysis - The Self Dilemma • Nov 22, 2015 01:42 PM

@drgnslayr For how much longer can we take this misery. He has lost the edge. He gets outcoached more often now. He cant make in game adjustments. He is stuck on his own ideas. This is yet another FF caliber team and Self once again is killing it.

The book on Self has been written and the ink will not dry. Time to move on KU nation.

Brannen Greene • Nov 22, 2015 01:37 PM

For how long can we continue with this frustration, game after game, season after season, its getting sickening.

The book has been written on Self and the chapters cannot be erased. Time to move on.

@SoftballDad2011 Go ahead and keeping defending him , you are most likely satisfied with the tourney early exits too. I am not. I am tired of it.

Its a crime against KU nation to start Lucas & Traylor over Bragg and even Mickelson. HCBS needs to go.

Insanity? • Nov 21, 2015 07:11 PM

Self needs to look in the mirror and resign right now. He needs a change in scenery and KU needs new fresh blood at the top. His adamant personality is only hurting the program now. Its time to move on and to be honest I have no problem if he goes to OKC. The new coach will be fired up to beat him. KU BB will move on. Its time for a change.

Paralysis By Analysis - The Self Dilemma • Nov 21, 2015 07:07 PM

Its time for Self to go. Its in his and KU's best interest. He needs a change of scenery and KU needs new fresh blood at the top. His attitude is hurting the players, disturbing the chemistry , annoying the fan base and downgrading the program. KU needs a new HC.

Brannen Greene • Nov 21, 2015 07:02 PM

@wissoxfan83 I don't know exactly but I have an idea. I still blame the coach. The kid deserves to play. He is doing a disservice to KU BB program by his adamant nature. Not letting him go to Maui is a significant penalty, totally unjustified. Greene's parents should take the matter with the authorities. Its time for Self to go.

I tried so hard • Nov 21, 2015 02:14 PM

I agree with you. Both Self & KU BB will be better served with a Fresh start.

Brannen Greene • Nov 21, 2015 02:11 PM

My sympathies are with BG. The kid deserves to play and Self was WRONG in giving him only 8 minutes. Again, same old Self. Rigid. Inflexible. Its about time that players question continued poor decisions from the HC.

Bate, I really enjoy your posts however I don't understand the reasoning behind this post. Your defense of Self is getting old. While Self is still .821 at KU look at the trend for the past few seasons, going downhill. Self has been a great coach but it is clear that he is losing the edge - continued recruiting misses, early tourney exits to lower quality teams, drop in winning %, increase in home losses etc. And my biggest issue with Self is with his Rigid nature and inflexibility. For the past two years he has failed to use his talent to the advantage while forcing the players to play with his way. With Self its like My Way or the Highway.

After the WUG I was hopeful that he will make a change in his style by allowing more freedom to his players when he said something like I learned a lot from the experience however so far its the same old Self. Extremely Frustrating. This has been the biggest issue for me with Self and I wont be surprised if other fans feel likewise. And Self has to be blamed for the BG fiasco currently happening. Self is hurting KU BB.

At this point KU BB and Self will be better off if he moves on. KU BB need a fresh start.

Dunking and deep breaths • Nov 21, 2015 01:51 PM

Simple, KU Bigs are Soft, Since T-Rob we have not had a Big who plays Physical. Withey got to that point in his senior year. Joel could have developed into one had he stayed longer but his game was more finesse.

F*** ISIS • Nov 14, 2015 08:11 PM

It is the Stated Position of ISIS:
1. Kill all Muslims who believe in coexistence
2. Use actions to create a wedge between Islam & the West

The recent terror attacks in Baghdad, Beirut & Paris are part of their plans to achieve their stated goals.

The sooner the collective humanity realizes that we ALL are one side against these barbaric & evil people the better it is. Anyone in their justified anger tries to paint a FAITH, religion, a community with a broad brush and generate collective hatred is playing into the hands of ISIS.

Managing these menaces require collective unity, recognition of their evil desires, and building MORAL Resiliency against any kind of hatred, thoughtfulness & words.

Uniting with a passion for peace, acceptance and mutual respect is the true victory against the reprehensible plans of terrorists.
