Rock Chalk Tech Game • Feb 02, 2019 09:47 PM

What a half. I'm dazed and confused.

Why can't they run the lob play for Grimes a couple of times every game to get him to see the ball go in the basket...

Not sure he has the hops.

So, logically the offense is humming against a great defensive team. Because of course it is...

All 3 of the Rivals guys said Kansas leads and predicted they’ll get him.

I hope it happens and like I said I think it would be a very good sign for the future of the program.

This came up awhile ago in some older articles and seems to be the approach that the NCAA is going to take.

Among college coaches, Chris Beard would be near the top of the list right now. I agree with @wissox about Wade at LSU being worth a look. Chris Mack at Louisville would be another interesting name considering his success at Xavier. Nate Oats at Buffalo would be a name to look out for as well.

Solid list.

Also I am just not convinced that the NBA is remotely interested in Self at this point.

What a strange "coincidence" that the NCAA waited until Hurt was visiting to announce their decision. They've had months to announce, and they just happen to announce it now. Really? Seriously? Are we the college version of Lemony Snickets, and unfortunate events just seem to happen? They are trying to bury us.

Actually, this could be a positive. Now the Hurts will know Silvio isn't in the picture for next year.

@BShark I realize Moore can handle the ball a bit, but I would not play him. I'd roll the dice with the ball in any of the other guard's hands while Dotson is resting/out. Moore's PER is 6.6 in 256 minutes. He is maybe the worst player Self has played significant minutes. Of course, a blind squirrel can find a nut here and there. Never know.

This is the perfect day to change things up -- start McCormack, Dedric, Vick, Agbaji, and Dotson.

I would play Grimes at PG before Moore. I would agree Moore is not a valid player but he will have to play some unless Bill does go big like your starting line-up.

@BeddieKU23 Oh I know why, but it's painfully obvious that he took money for Bruno too. You don't get a bunch of kids under your wing to only take money for ONE of them.

There is no reason to believe fenny. He took money. He can spin where it went all he wants. He failed Silvio, the guy that was supposed to guide him to a better life. Some of that he has done, but this part is an epic fail on his part

It kills me that Bruno still gets to play.

I have no idea what the NCAA will do to KU but I wouldn’t b surprised at all if we see a downtick in recruiting which will lead to obviously less success on the floor. Ultimately this bull shi*t might be enough to push Self out the door.

Not sure why any coach would want to put up,with this non sense when he doesn’t have too. Hell he could retire if he wanted .

Also , I understand a lot of this was brought on by himself, but still it might be running him ragged and I wouldn’t blame him for leaving it all behind.

There were whisperings about something more sinister in regards to why JRE didn't pick KU. If anyone would know about something coming, it would be JRE's mom.

I hope everything just blows over. I think next year's team could be really good.

If KU lands Hurt and/or Precious, that's a sign Self is sticking around imo.

A more realistic NBA coach might be Billy Donovan, in my opinion.

Personally, I've been impressed TTU's Chris Beard.

If a KU connection is necessary, Jerrod Haase might be the best bet.

I don't think Beard would come to KU.

I am not sure the name KU would actually get would be a huge splash name. Self wasn't a super huge name but he turned out alright. I hope this isn't a real discussion for another 5 years though.

For all of Garret’s short comings on offense losing him is going to hurt. Just a couple weeks ago Self said the teams couldn’t play without him on the floor.

Going to be a tough game today.womder who Self will put on Cluver now.

It's going to be messy today. Need AFH to pull through, maybe pay off the refs like we usually do. ;)

NCAA is pathetic between this and the missouri situation.

I wonder what changed his mind? I haven't really read anything where the staff was out watching him since it is pretty much known he is going to FSU...

Best case scenario is the staff knows Stanley is picking KU but that would fly in the face of everything regarding KU hoops right now.

Fair points. I think we all expected Grimes to be much better than this. Grimes just isn't even mentally in games lately. He doesn't contribute ANYTHING. It's crazy, really. Even he were half of what Self thought, this team would be a lot better off.

KJ...KJ is really interesting. I thought he sucked based on watching him at Memphis. I posted as such. Then there were reports that KJ was doing great in practice and he was expected to compete for a starting spot. I should have stuck to my guns, but I was hoping he had improved during his year off.

Windchill is up to -1. It was -12 about 90 minutes ago so a heat wave must have came through. All the schools are cancelled and the mail has been cancelled as well.

Not near as bad as up North, but still way to cold for this guy.

Schools all canceled here too (near Topeka) but post office was open.

-2 before windchill last I checked.

@BShark I don't think that is true. Self said this last night and I think it is 100% true IF Doke doesn't get hurt this team is 22-2 probably and ranked in the top 3. His injury changed everything for this team.

I think Self thought Ochai would have been a "luxury" not a necessity on this years team.

He's better than Grimes in every way though. Better than KJ too.

Realty check my friends • Jan 30, 2019 04:13 PM

@HighEliteMajor This is the same Bill Self that decided Ochai wasn't one of the best 9-10 players on the team initially. I'm not hopeful these days.

Had a real shot if they could get a damn rebound there. Insane.

Texas tried to help KU win but KU decided they didn't want to.

Who were we recruitng still when LV decided to come back?

Romeo Langford

Who wouldn’t have helped this team other than he drives the ball and can actually finish

Ok. So we would have had one less 3 point shooter. Puzzling. I guess we were all in on playing inside out? Also puzzling.

Well, the assumption was that Grimes and Moore could shoot.

And KJ and Dedric would at least be good enough shooters to spread the floor

I was always suspicious about this.

Mitch

Vick wasn't fouled there though? Okay.

Dedric misses a 4 foot shot and they get a layup. Could have cut it to 4

Crazy to think that KU could be right there in this game.

Dedric you gotta make that one

Dedric is off tonight

Does KU score 50 tonight?

If they do...it might be a win. This game is painful.

If KU could score at all...man this would be an easy win. But they can't so here we are.

Vick isn't in this game mentally.

KirkIsMyHinrich said:
