KU offered 2019 PG Tre Mann from Florida. Top 40 player.
Let me ask you this buddy. - With KU offering to him , just confuses me a little - -I mean are they think Devon is a OAD? - - PLUS we still have Moore a s a PG on the roster. - That's not even talking about Moore being the start pg - just on the roster.-- Seems to me that and this is what I'm asking you cause it seems or looks like to me they are Recruiting over Markese. - -Unless they fully believe Dotson is a OAD your gonna have - - Dotson -- -Moore - - -Jacobs - -and then they offered this guy? - -kind of looks like to me they are over recruiting this spot unless they pushing someone out
I mean KU is going hard after Hampton in 2019 too. It's clear the staff wants another PG.
Dotson should still be around but you never know. Moore isn't good. Jacobs isn't a guy that contributes year one.
There are situations where I could see Jacobs and KU mutually parting ways. Otoh if he is willing to stick with KU through this FBI crap I say stick with him. He probably won't be top 100 when it's all said and done but who cares if he is willing to stay and develop.
Grimes and Cremo if he is added will open up two guard spots. That's room for two signings. Plus KU might have open scholarships anyway.
@MR11 Yep. It would be different if Self had shown a history of knowingly playing players with issues. He hasn't though and like you said there is just about no change anything official happens with Silvio any time soon. So Self won't risk playing him. The question will ultimately be will he still even take up a scholarship and a roster spot or will both parties just move on now.
It only makes any sense for 18. In 19 just go after Dante if he reclasses, Kofi Cockburn if not.
Aspire Academy is shady af.

It looks really bad, I see no other way around that. Should have known better to expect recruiting tactics to completely change. We have to get away from these kids with eligibility issues
Thank you.-- EXACTLY my feeling. - -seems like these last three four years - -always something.Would be nice to be able to have at least one peaceful recruiting season.
Doesn't seem possible. 2018 has been mostly. Still not convinced that door is closed
Just when it looked like things were on a good track too... Might be a struggle to keep perceived locks in 19, time will tell.
At this point just keep Jacobs, add Harvey, JRE and another big.

Double edged sword with "go getting talent"
Billy luckily never played but his issues were known. Turns out he had more then we thought
Still KU's name gets dragged through the mud. It looks bad no matter what.
Bassey should have a stay clear sign on him. Duke, Kentucky- they are not knocking on his door. Says something
Same with Preston tbh. He was a top 20 recruit and KU was competing with Indiana, Syracuse and USC for him...

Are you assuming Doke and DeSousa are not coming back? I think there is a 70% chance Doke is back and, if no wrong doing on the part of DeSousa is found only his guardian and the penalty is only a few games, then he is back for sure and all KU need is an outside shooter which Cremo would do nicely
This is supremely optimistic. I don't see any way Silvio plays a game for KU again.
@BeddieKU23 It's kind of a stunning lack of awareness from Self.
BeddieKU23 said:
It's not good. We may ultimately be happy Langford's father isn't looking over every Bill Self coaching decision either. Now Archie's problem
Also we are actively recruiting a player with red flags everywhere (Charles Bassey) who may try and reclassify to 2018. Something's gotta give
I really don't like going after Bassey as stated before. It's just not a good look.
Doke is very likely outta here imo

@BShark Average for KU is conference champs and #1 seed and playing to the elite 8.
Absolutely. It's just a slight downgrade from preseason #1 and title favorites. Which would have been the case imo with Doke + Silvio + Romeo.
JayHawkFanToo said:
it figures, the year KSU will have its best team in a long time so will KU.
Next year is quickly looking very average for KU.
We are quickly venturing into worst case scenario territory but should still be pretty good barring an unmitigated disaster.
Dotson/Moore/Grimes
Grimes/Moore/Garrett
Garrett/Grimes/KJ
KJ/Dedric/Mitch
Dedric/McCormack
Deep Bench: Cunliffe/Agbaji
Pretty flexible too, the only guys I'd lock into a position are Dotson and McCormack. Dotson mainly because I would slate him as the only true PG on the roster, though Moore and Grimes are solid combo options. McCormack because he has a center skill set, is huge and all the other bigs on the roster are capable of playing the 4. Dedric will be playing a lot of center in this scenario.
I think Moore is the primary back-up guard at this point unfortunately. I could even see him starting early on because Self.
Mitch going from a possible RS to likely 3rd big. Pretty crazy.
This rotation is probably good enough to win #15. Shooting is a huge concern and there are so many relative unknowns though.
The one thing is this situation represents THREE open scholarships. If Self can avoid that he will.
Doesn't look so dumb now unfortunately. At the end of the day though, BRUUUUUUUUUCE.
It could warp the next class or two but ultimately many more schools and players will be named. In the end if college basketball still exists, KU should be fine.

@BShark the FBI “scandal” is going to be a hurdle for Self and staff. The quote I saw was his Dad basically saying having the schools name associated with the FBI case eliminated them.
Yep.
They lied beforehand and said it wasn't a factor too... Bad look.
Here is the full quote: "Kansas, it pushed it out for me. Just having that name on your school. I didn't take them out of the three verbally, we just didn't want him going there and anybody asking him that type of question. So we don't want him going to school there, we don't care how good the basketball is."
According to his dad KU finished third behind Vandy. Blah.
Duke offered 2019 PG Josiah James. Hope they get him!

This is the first time since 2007 that Indiana has landed the top-ranked senior from the state.
Wow...
He actually is a good kid, stayed for hours after each game to sign autographs for kids. I'm not so sure that most of this crap was his idea.
Announcement fantasy match-up: Romeo Langford vs Tony Parker.

After watching the Grimes and Dotson's announcements, I've had enough. lol

Now, I would listen to arguments that I am on this site too much. My work productivity would like me to ban myself. :joy:
@Statmachine I'm not waiting for anything nor will I be watching his announcement to Indiana. I'm just on the site anyway so I will reply when someone posts talking to me.
@Statmachine I know Langford is going to Indiana. That's about it.
justanotherfan said:
That would be a bad thing if Grimes isn't playing. Grimes is one of the five most talented players Self has ever recruited to KU. Only Embiid, Wiggins and maybe Josh Jackson can get ahead of him. If Langford comes to KU, Grimes is still fourth or fifth. Him not playing would be a big deal and a potential disaster.
Grimes should play (and play a lot) from Day One. Grimes has legitimate superstar potential at the pro level, nevermind college (as does Langford). Self hasn't had that at his disposal before.
I agree with you but I will put nothing past Self.
Some people do disagree about Grimes, seen some say a worse Selden.
Brandon Roy is a decent comp for him, imo.
What I like the most about Grimes is that he is a crafty player. Has some old man/junk to his game already. Dedric is like that too.
Sounds like Romeo sent in his NLI to Indiana on Saturday so it's safe to write him off now.
Woodrow said:
I actually heard that Moore was really good in practice last year and surprised the staff quite a bit. At some points he was "unguardable".
This would be the first positive thing I've heard about Moore emanating from the program. Hope it's true.
JayHawkFanToo said:
If Moore is starting it means he is really playing well enough to beat one of the big names...which is a good thing.
I see it just as easily being possible in the other direction. Grimes clashes with Self early (for w/e reason, probably lack of defensive effort) and Self teaches him a "lesson" like Oubre. It would be stupid, but we've seen it before.
justanotherfan said:
If Doke is back, Cremo may need to start in a Doke-Dedric-Grimes-Dotson lineup to space the floor a bit more. I'm still waiting to see how Garrett's shot progresses before I decide where he can fit in different lineups.
That would be a pretty good starting line-up tbh. Growing pains for Dotson and Grimes but otherwise very good.
I think Doke is gone and we see both Lawsons starting in the post.
Crimsonorblue22 said:

Matt Scott doesn't know. I doubt that Langford called up Scott to tell him to change his prediction. None of these guys have any real info, only hearsay.
Want to bet?

Cremo works as a designated shooter in a lot of different lineups. He could be a nice addition if KU misses on Langford. 18-20 minutes a game off the bench shooting 3-5 threes per game, I could see him being a really nice asset. I don't think he could start because he probably won't be versatile enough, but he could be a bench guy that scores a few points a game, with the potential to hit 6 or 7 threes on any given night.
I don't think he starts either. Starting line-up should be Dotson, Grimes, Garrett. I could maybe see Moore early in the season but I hope not.
@BeddieKU23 If he can play passable defense and be a good shooter off the bench I'd take that. Something like 20-25 minutes a game seems feasible.
BeddieKU23 said:
He's from my neck of the woods so I feel confident in my evaluation of him. Seen him play a ton over the past 3 years. He never went through the recruiting process so this is all new for him and from everything I've read locally he's got a ton of support wherever he goes.
Can really shoot the basketball, at times lights out. That's a trait lacking on this upcoming team.
Will be interesting to see how he views his role. If he's looking for 30 minutes a night its not happening. He would have a distinct role though and could absolutely help us win some games
I'd trust your overall eval on it, I haven't watched a single game of his.
You know my thoughts on Moore already. I'd think Cremo would instantly slot in ahead of Moore.
@JayHawkFanToo I wouldn't disagree... I just find it funny that Missouri fans are hyped about that roster. I guess when you've had to deal with Kim Anderson rosters...

How in the world did Louisville not win more with Donovan Mitchell on the roster? Hookers must be exhausting.
Where was the crap piled on Pitino for only playing him 19 mpg as a FR?
BeddieKU23 said:
Cremo is a good player. He doesn't move the needle for this team if he signed with KU however he would have a specific role that can be useful.
I cannot stress enough the difference between landing a Top 5 talent such as Romeo to a grad transfer from the American East conference.
If Cremo is the best option for a year, that's fine. We have a need for a shooter.
Yeah, perfect as a one year addition after already getting PT at a smaller school. Not a guy you want to have to break in and develop yourself. The whole grad transfer thing is kinda sleazy, but KU might as well use it.
JayHawkFanToo said:
It ain't over until it's over.
Remember DeAndre Ayton was just about 100% KU (with one vote to UK by a UK writer) and yet he ended up at Arizona...although money might have played a part on that.
Cremo visit info doesn't get out if Langford is coming to KU, imo. Coaching staffs were informed over the weekend so the timeline makes sense here.
Matt Scott has KU colored glasses so whenever he finally changes his pick OFF of KU, I'm listening.

It's over with Langford turn out the lights.
That said, Cremo would be a quality addition.
He might be the best option given what's out there currently. Best option in terms of shooting, experienced guard. Definitely has Svi-like shooting ability from deep. Not a great athlete, decent defender in the American. If he wants to start I don't see that role at KU, he would be a quality rotation type
I'd listen to arguments that Cremo is better for KU next year than Langford would have been. Not saying I'd agree, but I'd listen.
Obviously Romeo is the better long term player and an NBA level talent but we are talking about a 22 y/o skilled finished product vs an 18 y/o freak athlete.
You can also ask Cremo to handle the ball some, whereas you don't get that with Romeo.
The bigger impact Romeo could have had was on defense but he would have needed to buy in and I'm not sure I get that vibe from him. More Wiggins than Jackson imo. Plus not to belabor the point but he is 18, guards rarely come in and dominate defensively as FR.
Matt Scott just changed his CB to Indiana. IT'S DONE FOLKS.

@BShark yup just saw that - Thanks Debbie Downer lmao - I got it off the phog - typical Monday Morning -- well goodie another grad transfer lol
Have we had a grad transfer besides Tarik Black? Worked out okay.
Cremo is as good as you can ask for. 45% trey gun last year (42% for career) when KU needs shooting next season plus he will be 22 before he would play a game for KU. I hope we can land him over Nova!
Also has the added benefit of the scholarship situation working the same way as adding Romeo would have (just one year).
So Nike is really ponying up for Oregon. Stacked class already (#4, #18, #41, #70 recruits) and might add Brandon Williams + Okoro reclassing to 2018.
