@Crimsonorblue22 Tournament Bill. For better or worse, the bench might as well not exist in March.
7 players played against Duke total. Average minutes for starting guards against Clemson was 36.5, 36.25 against SHU.

His PT really didn't go down per se, though it was kind of erratic throughout the season.
Jalen Wilson cutting to 6 schools already.
It would take a lot of improvement for him to be a top 3 scoring option on next year's team.

Sorry guys I'm getting old - - - really old lol. - -The kid I thought BShark was talking about isn't 7"2 - got him confused with the kid that MayJay was talking about in the title - - - no wonder I was questioning the height lol
LOL
So yeah he's more like 6'4'' but he's just entering high school next season. He's already really good and from Lansing like I mentioned I'd bet he gets a KU offer.

@BShark Any possibility we can give one of our walk ons a Schollie?
Didn't we just get a walkon commit from someone like yesterday?
Yep, I made a thread for him.
I bet the last scholarship gets used.
Also you hearing anything on Doke or just hopeful?

@drgnslayr Sorry, l have to disagree. Many long time friends (KSU people) just become completely undesireable when KU is mentioned. For that reason l hope they lose every game game at every sport.
As for WSU people, they are more sociable and enjoyable, but Marshall makes it hard for me to promote them either.
From who I talk to most KSU fans cared more about KU losing to Nova than they did their own EE run.

I just hope that Coach Self uses that depth and doesn't trim the bench to 2 or 3 deep when we can easily go 5 deep
I'd bet on a 3 player regular bench rotation.

Little more info as I learn more about 6-3 guard Elijah "E.J." Elliott, who will join the team as walk-on. Chose KU over Wake and Nebraska. Family has known Danny M. forever. Southlake (Tx) Carroll grad spent a little bit of time at IMG. Worked w/trainers in Texas all last year.

Different player with the same name.

Yeah this is old but I read this and a few other articles/threads. Bizarre recruitment for a walk-on, visited KU, Kentucky, Arizona... Seems like Nebraska was interested but never offered.

@JayHawkFanToo What reports? Everyone I know with a good track record is not positive on Moore.
He is tiny and will be abused on defense. I'm thinking Iowa State hunting on Svi level D assuming opposing coaches figure it out. Add in the fact that he is a below average offensive player overall to boot. Sometimes KU players aren't actually good. Moore reminds me of Tharpe.
I think it's worth any potential growing pains with Dotson to start him right away. He has a lot more potential.
Following up on my own post, a poster on the phog in contact with a former player (I'm pretty sure it's Elijah) had this to say:
"Per ex-player that plays with the team, Moore is good, tough, well liked and can stroke it from deep (although says it’s a funky shot).
Also said Moore is from easily the shittiest neighborhood of anyone on the team and has seen some fucked things. Looks like a Choir boy but not the case."

I would assume as a walk-on.
@jaybate-1.0 If they somehow won a national championship, the KU game would still be more important. :astonished:

So am I hearing this correctly you guys think Immanuel quickley is going to decommit from Kentucky to join Kansas?
No
@FarmerJayhawk I know you already qualified it but yeah he loves UK.
@RockkChalkk Scott was on the radio the other day sounded like the player was still committed and could be in play, but KU prefers Cremo.
JayHawkFanToo said:
I was note referring to that specific prospect but many others, much lower ranked, that routinely add elite programs for self-aggrandizing reasons.
Agree. Andre Rafus and some kid that committed to Rutgers are recent examples.
JayHawkFanToo said:
Lots of prospects list KU, they probably think it makes it look like KU is interested and raises their value when in reality KU is not interested at all.
Not the case here. KU would take him if he were willing to leave the wc.
@BeddieKU23 Yep. Completely pointless.

I don't understand what kind of team Duke is trying to build here. Maybe they are ahead of the curve, but it seems like they are just signing the same guy over and over again with no regard to how those pieces fit together. Perhaps Coach K is doing something different, but I don't know how this is going to work.
What makes this situation extra weird is that I don't even think Baker will play that much. So why not just wait?

@BShark USC*
Oh interesting I thought he was part of some UCLA AAU pipeline. I could be thinking of someone else though.
@Crimsonorblue22 He's gonna be REAL fun to watch.

What's the latest on five-star 2019 big man Onyeka Okongwu. Well looks like he's throwing us a hopeless bone. Imagine he won't even visit.
How’s the recruiting process going?
It’s going really good. I’m leaning towards USC, UCLA, Washington, Kansas. So it’s those four?
Yeah. What’s the next step in this process?
I will go on a couple of official visits.Do you know when you will start doing those?
Probably late summer. What do you like about USC?
USC, I have always been a Trojan fan since I was a little kid, close to home, I like the way they play basketball too, I like the way they do their offense and defense, just the basketball is my type of style. I like the coaching staff, I’m really close with them. What about UCLA?
UCLA has been known to bring a lot of NBA players out of their college, that’s the main thing and their close to home as well. What do you like about Kansas?
Kansas is one of the best college basketball schools ever, there have been a lot of talent and a lot of NBA prospects. Washington, I have really grown close with their coaching staff.Does Eric Mobley being on staff at USC and you playing AAU with his brother intrigue you?
It’s pretty interesting. Me and Isaiah have a great chemistry together but at the end of the day I have always loved USC to begin with.
Where are you going to 100% commit to: UCLA
Guess they left that one out.
GRIIIIIIIIIIIIIIMESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
@BeddieKU23 Well if Wright gets a third year out of JQ I just assume he will at worst be in the FF again that year.
Agree. There will be some number of OADs just because. Quickley and Garland feel like good candidates. I can't imagine any of the top players Vandy got sticking around more than 1 year.
That depends on if you view Grimes as a PG or not. I think long term and in the NBA he wants to be a PG but I also think it's very likely he is only at KU one year and never has primary ball handling responsibilities.
dylans said:
If Dok or Silvio don’t come back my expectations go way down.
Defense and rebounding could be better w/o Doke.
JayHawkFanToo said:
It was posted in KU forums including this one that Moore was playing great and was practically “unguardable” in practice. I don’t recall who posted it by maybe that poster can chime in?
I was hoping they would expand on that after the initial comment but it never happened. Because that's the first I've heard of anything of the sort.
I figured I'd do a breakdown of all the players that are for sure on the team next year. Doke and Silvio would be in the first group.
Players I am high on next year and long term
Dedric
KJ
Dotson
Grimes
Garrett
I need to see more/see them play at the D1 level
McCormack
Agbaji
Good roleplayer but hopefully not starting
Mitch
Moore
Ideally they never play
Cunliffe

@BShark I don't know. Kind of. Just wondering if dumb people get indicted and smart people were, well, smarter about how they did things.
I would say it's very possible that Nike was smarter. Gatto was at Nike for quite awhile though, so he might be able to roll on them too, who knows. What is apparent to me is that all the shoecos involved were paying.

I am sure their recent success is opening doors to players previously unavailable. The question is, will it result in higher ranked players that leave earlier and ruin the system that has proven to be successful with older, more experienced players?
Both of these guys fit their model to a T. Dixon a borderline Top 100 guy and Moore a Top 60 ish kid that missed a year due to injury. That's their sweet spot
With the recent success they are involved with higher ranked kids though in 19 & 2020 classes. They may not land any but they definitely have their foot in the door where they didn't before
Also Brunson was very highly ranked and stayed 3 years.
Both these guys fit the mold for sure. I mean the one kid is a 6'6'' center. That's vintage Jay Wright right there.
The Arizona mess gifted them JQ who I think is right there after the top tier of PGs in this class. I'm not sure I see a single OAD PG in this class tbh. Quickley might be because Kentucky. It's ridiculous that Tre Jones is the #1 PG by some services. But whatever, Dotson can just prove it on the court.

I seriously doubt our roster is complete.
I will be shocked if we don't add anyone else.
Completely agree.
Looks like I'm not alone on Moore, I was starting to wonder. Thanks a couple guys on the phog. Anyway I bring this up because this guy mentioned the Italy stats and they are pretty bad, against that rancid competition. So I went to look at his total combined stats...and remember KU beat one of these teams 118-74 w/o Doke.
12-29, 5-13 from 3, 10 rebounds (not that much is expected here), 15 ast, 7 turnovers* and 7 steals (not sure how telling this is since KU had multiple games around 20 steals...).
*He had 2 games of 6 ast 1 turnover and two rancid games.
I think Dotson needs to start or KU is in trouble.

Nova continues to run laps on people in recruiting. 2 4 star commits already. Moore the latest, a Top 60 guard with size. Can only imagine he'll become the latest great from there in time
I just assume he will redshirt and play insane defense and shoot threes at a 40%+ clip by his JR year.
HighEliteMajor said:
Could it be possible that Nike is not paying players?
Is this a serious question?

Wrong category--not football!
Moved.
He has been committed for awhile. Duke clearing space for the 19 class...
The Pacers were pretty much better than the Cavs, but LEBRON. He more or less won game 7 by himself. Best Raptors team yet with the best bench in the NBA. Leading all game. LEBRON wins in Toronto with an inferior team...
If you put him on this Sixers roster with Simmons, Embiid, Saric and Fultz assuming he can get it together and that's a very very good team. I'm not sure what all the contract situations are like but ideally they would keep Redick and Covington too. Everyone else on the roster is pretty disposable.

I think he or I mean his dad, was picking home all along.
Tbf Romeo's first choice was Louisville and that's where he'd be if not for the FBI stuff.
Ryan Noel mentioned over on the Phog that Devon Dotson has the staff the most excited to land a (presumably guard) recruit since Mason.
@ReggieKansas I actually think Self and/or assistants used to be more directly involved and have been more hands off for awhile now. Just pure conjecture on my part though.
You didn't even list some of the shadiest recruits of the Self era. Selby, Collins, Arthur, Wright...
Also the completely legal shenanigans of having Chalmer's dad on the staff and the Angel Morris situation.
Can Cunliffe even dribble and pass? I think that's up for debate.
Garrett and Cunliffe aren't even on the same planet for knowing how to play basketball and contributing positively to the team. I hope Cunliffe doesn't have to play next season. KU is in trouble if he is, imo.
Historically Self hasn't handled too well guys that are literally just a spot up 3 point shooter. Especially if they don't play much defense.

I think you are selling Moore short, no pun intended. Based on what I have read about him, he will surprise a lot of people. Markese is currently ranked #84 and will likely move up and maybe break into the top 50 when all is said and done. He might not contribute in his first year but he is a lot like Sherron and if he does anywhere near as well as Sherron did it will be a huge bonus.
I've chosen to die on this hill re: Moore from what I've seen and read so we will see.
As for Markese he is much more likely to move down by all accounts from talking to people around recruiting and rankings. That said I don't think it means much and I do hope he ends up at KU. He's bouncy and athletic. Just needs some work on his jumper and to improve his passing instincts.
