Look for Juiston to visit KU.
Very strong chance Martin ends up and Misery or Illinois.
Stats line up with what you hear/read. I think he would definitely find some pt next year and is a nice piece to have especially against zone defenses.
He won't be able to hold all the trophies. :smiling_imp:
Wouldn't mind that. Juiston is the far more interesting prospect. Lake just seems....tall?
Another interesting JUCO: Ivan Aurrecoechea
A true post player like Lake. Seems like Self is definitely looking for a capable back-up C behind Doke. Not sure this kid is on the radar, but could be if Self wants Lake and Lake ends up elsewhere.

Looks like a good player from what little info I can find.
Was coming to post about this. KU was at his game last night.
Weber's personality = huge loser dork.

This is the exact thing I was talking about when it comes to Coach Weber. I've watched many post game interviews of Coach Weber. If his teams win he's the best Coach ever. If his team loses it's because of the players.
That's not a coach I would want.
Coach Weber has never been out coached. Just ask him. I would love to see the stats on how many players have left his program.
That's not a coach I would want.
Nailed it. :100:
None of those words were mine. I thought it was hilarious that there were still some KSU fans that delusional.
@Crimsonorblue22 said:
@BShark is this from you? did you write the" known for breaking all the rules," or is that from the paper?
I couldn't help myself. That post was straight copy paste from a thread on a KSU forum.
On Coach Bruce Weber…
“I did not like anything about today except for being able to shake hands with one of the best coaches in the country after the game. He has won eight games in this league and had his team in the top-25 this year. They lost a couple of heartbreakers. The Kansas game, the guy takes about four steps and they beat K-State there. I think you got a really good coach here. He does it the right way and is one of the most respected coaches in the country.”
Immediately, it was met with some typical comments from those who will not acknowledge that Weber is a good coach. I paraphrase a few.
"Of course they like him. They know they can recruit over him and beat him."
And one from a West Virginia poster who loves to patronize K-State fans:
"We hope you keep Weber." What a patronizing comment. If that poster really thought that person would keep their mouth shut and not join the chorus of people thinking Weber should be fired. Or am I to believe the West Virginia poster really wants K-State fans to have a much better team?
Let me get to the point. I'll be fine if K-State decides to go with another coach if that coach plays by the rules. Frankly, I can't hardly stomach the negative, toxic fan base that will always be ready to jump in and pile on Weber all because he came in after Frank Dalonte Martin, so if it happens, fair enough. But, I won't stand by and allow the haters to spill forth their nonsense without a rebuttal.
Coach Beard is a protégé of Bob Knight who was a coach that did not resort to cheating. In later years, Knight despised what the game had become often times taking shots at Calipari and the cesspool of basketball recruiting. Beard knows this and so do many other very successful College basketball coaches. The truth is that these coaches know that Weber does not cheat and competes very well, playing with 3 star players, against other coaches who have 5 stars. When Tom Izzo talked about Weber being a great coach, this is what he meant. When Roy Williams said that Bruce Weber can coach the hell out of basketball, he was saying that Weber coached a bunch of 3 stars and almost whipped my 5 stars.
Read between the lines of what Coach Beard said and realize it's importance. Weber took a team of 3 stars to Lawrence and had a team, known for breaking all the rules in the book, on the ropes.....and the refs let them off the hook with a clear traveling.
Franny and Kimmy English both come to minds. Losers both.
“If we don’t get in, somebody better check on the publicity for our league,”

Howling. It's never Bruce's fault.

He is so perfect for K-State. I sure hope he has indeed saved his job.
Some choice pearls of butthurt and an irrational sense of self worth below
“Every year you’re coaching for your job,” he says. “I’ve been part of the greatest run in Purdue history. I’ve been part of the greatest run in Southern Illinois history.
“I’ve been at Illinois, the best nine-year run. When was the last team to win an outright Big Ten championship at Illinois? I’m the only one (since 1952). And not one, two times. Who’s the only coach to take them to the national championship game? Me. So it is what it is.”
“Yeah, well, rules are meant to be broken,” he says. “They also have traveling in the rulebook.”
Elite coaching moment with Dean Wade
“I told him the other day, ‘This is between you and the guy in the mirror,’” Weber said. “I said, ‘I can’t do it anymore. You’ve got to figure this out yourself.’”
Who?
One the other hand, Frank would destroy Quitter.
Fool's gold :confounded:

@BShark he finally figured out how to hit threes in a game. The key is not to leave him open like what Illinois State is doing.
We like to give open three point looks....could be an issue...
It's not complicated.
Coach Cal is a good recruiter. Coach K is a good recruiter and has the team USA advantage and Duke almost recruits itself at this point. Duke has a very good rate of 5 stars offered to those offers being accepted. Duke waits to offer, a situation that has often bit KU, but looks good when it works.
Recruiting is mostly on coaches sure, but location is a factor too. Self has done a good job recruiting and getting kids to visit Lawrence. UK is in a position where Cal made them the in school to go to for being OAD. An NBA factory. It's snake oil but kids buy it.
When you do some of the things Self has done, with his quick hook as well as looking like an ogre berating a highly rated player it will bite you eventually in recruiting. Notice Self had it rolling for a bit after a brief recruiting sabbatical. Then he had Cliff, Oubre, Cheick. Each one of them problematic. Things like that add up. The Cheick issue is real and is used against KU. Cheick should have played over Self's pet Jamari if he didn't want that problem.
So now we are in a year where Self had to take a qualifying risk and a player whose HS close he has a good relationship with and a couple transfers.
Good news: Self is playing modern basketball this year and hasn't looked like an ogre. Maybe we see an uptick in recruiting.
Quitter looks like what we hoped he would be at KU. I have the feeling he would hit a few "in the building range" threes if we play them...
Agree. Coaches should stick to their own evals and not just look at recruiting service rankings.
Yeah Illinois State looks like garbage really.
WSU looks really good.
NR Morris, NR Zach Brown, #130 McDuffie, #174 Shamet KC kid that KSU and KU did NOT want hell KU didn't even sniff around, Quitter Frankamp, NR Kelly, JUCOs Willis and Smith. Greggggggg can identify talent and coach unfortunately.
I stand by my comment, any "embargo" Self brought on himself and at the end of the day it's still hard to recruit to Lawrence. You have to get past the initial wall of perception. There is no grand conspiracy.
14 247 composite ranking.
Correction: he is one point behind Paul Pierce.
BOLD CRAZY PREDICTION: He passes Paul in the first B12 tournament game...
ASun title game is today on ESPN. Go Dooley!
Frank is now 9th on the all-time Kansas scoring list. He should definitely pass Perry for 8th. He would need 122 points to surpass Sherron and get to top 5...certainly doable.

BM is far and away the best highschool team in the state this year. They came in to Mac and destroyed them, which seldom happens.
It will be exciting to see JRE go from one blue and red uniform to another. :satisfied:
Kid is almost averaging a triple double in the highest classification in Texas. He will be very good for KU in time.
Some other fun things about Garrett: he will be 19 by the time he plays a game for KU, always a plus. Loves playing hard and playing defense. Not a whiner. Oh and I almost forgot, he beat Trae Young head to head.
Don't you go bad mouthing Tyshawn. Dude was a killer, wanted it bad, he just didn't have a jump shot. The rest I would agree with. EJ and Selden in particular, were quite aloof. Selden you knew early in the game. Did he hit his first couple looks? Oh okay it's good Wayne he might go for 25 tonight. Did he miss em? Oh shit he might not even score tonight. EJ had some crazy peaks and valleys too.
Bragg should be on the Lucas plan inside iyam. Only dunk/lay-up that shit when there is a clear path to the basket or there was a switch with a guard on him. Unlike Lucas though, jump shots are okay with Carlton.
As you know I'm always super optimistic, but I think Bragg can be a good player yet...
Embiid.
I feel Cliff was trending positive, before he had to be shut down. I think he would have been good as a soph, but we will never know.
If Self is embargoed, he did it to himself by being an ogre. However, the last couple years or so he has capitulated a bit sans the Cheick nightmare which surely burned bridges.
Can't find a box score yet. Ballock had 17, but JRE really made him work for it. Eudora turned the game into a slog. Think UNI.
Miege beat Eudora tonight. Congrats to JRE, who guarded Mitch Ballock most of the night.
Not too often there is a Kansas HS hoops game with multiple D1 players, so pretty cool.
Didn't mean any offense.

@Crimsonorblue22 Mostly early 2nd round so there's a realistic chance he comes back next year. If he's back, he's B12 preseason POY.
Evans rightfully would be the pre-season favourite, but I think Newman will contend for that award next year.
@Crimsonorblue22 said:
@kjayhawks my dad played against him.
OLD. :tongue:
@Crimsonorblue22 said:
@Texas-Hawk-10 is Evans projected in the draft?
His play of late has bumped him into the first round of a lot of mocks.
@kjayhawks said:
@KUSTEVE As does every team lol. Honestly I want to win it. But I'd rather lose first time out than lose after that so we get rest. I've always thought the lower conference teams that are playing their tournaments now have a huge advantage with basically 2 weeks of rest. It is better for the B12 now that they moved the title game to Saturday instead of Sunday like it was for years.
I'm not convinced Bruce Weber coached teams like winning.
Vick is a lot better than Svi. I don't think Self should change the starting line-up for psychology reasons but I'm all for him having a quick hook with Svi at this point.
This year no, but Self has landed plenty of OAD bigs.... Of course...it didn't exactly work out great.
News at eleven.
Dog with fleas.
Agree. I have some hope for Vick on that end JR/SR year.
@Crimsonorblue22 said:
So ISU osu? Who wins?
Anyone that watched a Virginia game all year and then got to watch this game instead of another Virginia game. XD
Only negative I can think of is Svi was invisible again....and being invisible were his better moments.
OSU is on fire lately, gelled into a quality team. They will be a very tough out in the tournament. Evans is an elite guard and has shooters around him. I mean ba gawd the range on some of the threes Forte hit.
@Crimsonorblue22 said:
Really huge to get Bragg on track!
2/3 ain't bad. I have hope for next year with him.
