@BShark we knew this coming in, right?

Yes absolutely that's why the pro rumors were there and some schools backed off.

You can see Rice is talented. Get this one going

The challenge is keeping him engaged I think.

@DanR Watching that game I remembered a pastor from many years ago in South Carolina. He told me "I'm sick of hearing Rocky Top." :face_with_tears_of_joy:

@DanR I bet you one of them hillbillies up there north of Knoxville cares

I lived in Knoxville for ten years. If UT lost every game the rest of the year, no one would bat an eye

After that football game against South Carolina on the other hand..

We thought it'd be fun to watch how this team develops and jells, right? So this is fun!

For sure. I'm glad we are resting Kevin we will need him for Seton Hall.

MJ has terrible body language was a big takeaway for me.

I dont know, looking at KJ, its hard to imagine any problems with motivation

He practices well, does the right things. Self likes him and fought to keep him (there were some people in his ear about transferring).

Texas Southern Game Thread • Nov 29, 2022 12:47 AM

Self doesn't tolerate lazy guys. Some guys just actually can't shoot.

@Kcmatt7 said in Texas Southern Game Thread:

@approxinfinity I think he airballed his first shot of the season and hasn’t let one rip since 😂

Bill saw that and said "now listen son..."

Texas Southern Game Thread • Nov 29, 2022 12:35 AM

@Crimsonorblue22 Doesn't seem super likely. Free throws are a good indicator and we know how bad he is there. Hope the staff is trying though, it's his only major weakness aside from defensive rebounding which would be far less of an issue if he could play the 4.

Texas Southern Game Thread • Nov 29, 2022 12:34 AM

@Kcmatt7 said in Texas Southern Game Thread:

This is a lineup I hope to never see again

KJ would be a really nice 4 if he could shoot.

Texas Southern Game Thread • Nov 29, 2022 12:33 AM

They can basically only score on us with Udeh in the game. Food for thought.

@BeddieKU23 said in Texas Southern Game Thread:

Udeh didn't fight over that screen and then gets called for another foul

You had this called right. This is Bahamas hangover.

Not really? We looked fine before we went to the bench even with Joe starting. Idk I think our 5 spot is just this bad.

Texas Southern Game Thread • Nov 29, 2022 12:26 AM

@Crimsonorblue22 said in Texas Southern Game Thread:

But we need him to play!

If he can learn how to play then sure. He and Zuby need development but that is expected of Freshman.

Texas Southern Game Thread • Nov 29, 2022 12:22 AM

Udeh lost on both ends already.

Texas Southern Game Thread • Nov 29, 2022 12:14 AM

Good thing TSU stinks. We will need Kevin back for SHU.

Texas Southern Game Thread • Nov 29, 2022 12:05 AM

@benshawks08 said in Texas Southern Game Thread:

Start Jank if we want to build an early lead.

He might unironically have to play. MJ is our only bench "small" scholarship player tonight. 9 guys total and 4 are bigs.

Texas Southern Game Thread • Nov 28, 2022 11:49 PM

@Kcmatt7 So uh, Kevin is OUT tonight, we will definitely see the bench guys.

@Jethro

How much practicing will they actually do?

Recap since Friday- Friday night game. Fly home Saturday, film, rest, maybe a light walk through? Practice for Texas Southern Sunday. Game tonight. Tuesday, rest/ etc. Wednesday practice for Seton Hall, Game Thursday.

I know I'm not expecting much uptick this week given injuries and what not.

If anything we want to make sure they are rested for tonight.

World Cup thread! • Nov 28, 2022 04:07 PM

@Texas-Hawk-10 Canada was more athletic than Croatia. Croatia had better technical players (which does go to the point of it being the most important sport there) and a much better tactical plan.

Chiefs - Titans game thread • Nov 28, 2022 12:26 PM

@Crimsonorblue22 They were very clearly coasting. Andy did some silly play calls which he tends to do in these situations where the opponent is much weaker.

World Cup thread! • Nov 28, 2022 12:25 PM

Canada effed around and found out with Croatia. A game that should clearly dispel the "if the best athletes played" garbage but the people that spew that don't understand athleticism and aren't interested in discussion either.

KU/Tennessee Game Thread • Nov 28, 2022 01:23 AM

@drgnslayr My thought, which you could call expectation I suppose, is that this is an 8 loss team or so. Of course things could swing in either direction by 2-3 games but I disagree with some people saying this team is a lock for double digit losses. It could happen sure, but it's too early to say that.

I agree let's see what we look like in January.

I'd love another season of Gradey and I do think it wouldn't be the worst thing for him either.

World Cup thread! • Nov 27, 2022 09:06 PM

@approxinfinity Indeed. Could have won that even.

KU/Tennessee Game Thread • Nov 27, 2022 08:28 PM

@BeddieKU23 said in KU/Tennessee Game Thread:

I've been pleased with a lot things so far, I think this teams DNA knows how to win but we do need to see some guys step up so there's more consistentcy.

Agree with this. They are tough at least. The biggest factors in the Tennessee loss were Juan only playing 18 minutes and our main guys being tired. We have offensive issues but that was an all time putrid performance.

I think we see Self and co want to slow things down when we hit conference play.

KU/Tennessee Game Thread • Nov 27, 2022 05:45 PM

I think basically everything this year has gone as expected with the notable exception being Zach. If he was decent, we would be very good. I'm torn on if he can get there or not and it's frustrating because last year he showed that he was better than this.

World Cup thread! • Nov 27, 2022 02:45 PM

@approxinfinity Spain will murder Germany shortly.

Wow Belgium were horrid today.

World Cup thread! • Nov 27, 2022 12:33 PM

Costa Rica beat Japan so they still have a shot. Got my eye on Croatia Canada today should be gooood.

@COHawk said in KU/Tennessee Game Thread:

Think we were run out of our gym last year by Kentucky, and my guess is many thought the sky was falling. Throughout the season many were negative towards Big Dave and different aspects of the team. A loss like yesterday hurts our pride, but I'm sure Coach Self will use it to bring about a great deal of improvement in a variety of ways.

The UK loss mostly didn't bother me but the TCU loss did. XD
