Cleared covid protocols and can play tomorrow.

Out of the 4 guards you listed who do you trust to make a shot from anywhere. Limited bunch imo from what we have seen this yr. Cuffe being an unknown but film on him as a Sophomore was more of a defensive pest with elite athleticism.
If Jalen and Braun return then I agree he isn't a need. If one or both leave then it's a different discussion. Shown some really good shooting this year for Sunrise.
The best shooter on this team next yr could be a freshman which I'm not sure is a recipe for success
Yeah I can see that. I agree about needing a guard but I'd rather find a scoring option through the portal tbh.
It's all apart of the give and take.
Harris does better with a running mate to create. But we also saw that rebounding was a big problem playing 2 guards which Wilson solves most of the time. When Dave rebounds at a high level I think that's when playing 2 guards is a more viable option but as with any game Good Dave doesn't always show up. There's just limitations to both the 2 guards or 3 wings lineup.
Definitely not the first player to come here struggling with the mental aspect of forgetting the last play on the court. Still you would have thought after 3 1/2 yrs it wouldn't be such a factor in whether he plays well or not. Good Dave changes a lot of things for this team.
Still think we should be after Bobbi Klintmann. Kid can really shoot it at his size. 6"8 with tools to work with.
Good article here. I'm hoping for March Dave to be his best

Bates would thrive here tbh
Even better for Penny to say "here you go be our PG".
Bates could realize what he is and go to work, perhaps in a new environment. He's got a lot of talent but the way he was hyped he was supposed to be transcendent and that's not happenin'
He's been really solid in conference play this year.
Oh I totally agree about the strategy and the fact Wilson can put the ball on the floor and straight line drive past a 5 is potentially something that could be useful that hasn't been used.
I've ran through the scenario's why Jalen hasn't gotten any run at the 5. 1- defense, 2- trusts Mitch too much and has "earned" the spot, 3- keeping Wilson's responsibility & mind focused on his position he's currently in. Perhaps behind the scenes they just want to keep him from pressing and having to remember where to be in sets playing 2 positions. I don't know how complex it is to learn both, just throwing thoughts out there. He had some run there last year and at times it was pretty successful. Personally I would try this again because unless Mitch is 3 feet from the basket in scoring position what else does he bring on that end? So many examples from the Iowa St game alone where he wasn't guarded at all on the catch there in the high post/midrange.
Agbaji is 30th in the nation is 3's made. Only 3 guys shoot a higher % that have made more 3's then him as well. Pretty elite shooting from this stud
I think you haven't seen Wilson at the 5 at all is because of the defense. Puts a lot of pressure on Wilson to guard guys bigger then him when he's barely an avg defender as it is. He sure can rebound as good as anyone down on the block but my guess is that's the biggest reason we don't see it. On offense it would make sense especially if you watched Mitch in the Iowa St game get the ball in that top of the key/free throw line area and immediately his only action is to turn sideways to hand the ball back off to a guard. Dave absolutely killed ISU's strategy on defense by being able to hit that midrange jumper.

How many years does Joe have left to play?
2 and the covid year I believe. If he sticks around i think he's going to develop into a good guard here.
Dave had a little extra zing on a few of those like he was leading the receiver to a tight spot on 3rd down for a first down catch.
I still believe all of those guys can get better at doing that though. They flash at times. How many tough layups did Harris make last night where he just made a play, several by my recollection. Yesufu had a take where he got stuffed but my lord I loved the aggressive play to make something happen. Just want to see more of it from the perimeter guys. There's another level they haven't even reached imo
Love Yesufu's attitude
"I believe everyday is gonna be my day"

@drgnslayr My non-researched, non-statistically supported, opinion is that maybe playing Och and Braun at the same time slows the team down. Both are no doubt fast individuals, but neither is fast with the ball, neither is a great passer, and you'd rather both be on the finishing end of the fast break than the start.
I think you could expand this to include Harris as well. This trio at times does slow down KU's attack because all 3 have a hard time getting past a defender on their own since they are really just straight line drivers. That's why Remy at times even with his freelancing (which Self hates) is effective because sometimes you just need your guards to break down the guy in front of them. That's what made Dotson so good in ways, his speed was faster then 99% of guards but it was his ability to get on the hip of the defender that was so good here. Harris even as a small guard isn't that fast & most of the time needs a screen to turn the corner. CB as a wing is average speed at best and also relies on screens and motion. Wilson was a jolt into the starting lineup for a bit and still is at times for what he can do with the ball at 6'8. When his heads on right and he gets a good matchup he's good at pushing pace.
But Yesufu showed last night that he can provide an absolute spark at getting to a spot on the floor in half court offense or in transition exploiting a team trying to get back on defense. KU built that 2nd half lead by blitzing ISU up the court. They couldn't even get into their base defense before Braun or Wilson had already made a layup and Joe was a big reason why that was happening. I think we've seen at times the strength of this offense just pushing the pace as fast as they possibly can and not worrying about all these half court sets to try and get angles and open guys. Just my two cents
Good stuff in here! love it
His defense was outstanding, active and disruptive. When he dove for the ball that was already going out of bounds I bet Bill was loving it. That energy never left him all game and it was rewarded for at least last night.
I noticed a few defensive plays where Joe's speed stopped ISU from swinging the ball on the perimeter. He attacked closing out to his man faster then anyone we got on the team. His top end speed is at a different level then Harris/Remy and anyone else. It was impressive to see.
Did he even have a leash? Several DNP's lately. But kudos for the kid being ready when his number was called.
Social Media reporting Mark Adams & Chris Beard had a bit of a confrontation at the Texas Tech arena last night. Ohhhh the plot thickens here.
That's what happens when you leave a team you coached at, were an assistant coach for a long time and then go cross town for money to a rival & inter-conference team. Just how its gon' go
Agree on everything you said here. There's minutes. Self admitted he probably should be playing. Stick him out there Saturday and let him play freely. If he didn't earn that opportunity after last night I don't know what will ever get him there.
All the credit to Joe. Would he have played 23 minutes if JCL doesn't get injured early? Kid's taken lumps sitting on the bench, apparently working his but off to please the coaches and find his way here and then shines when he gets the chance, finally. He shined when given the chance at Drake last year. I think he's got a chip on his shoulder that you gotta itch and let go.
I was encouraged seeing Self give him that 'atta boy' in the locker room and his post game presser wasn't just coach speak. Obviously it was a reward for playing well and helping them win. Hopefully we see more of it.
More trubs in Memphis.
It never goes well when your Dad gets a headline to talk about your player 'absolutely coming back to play'
Self called him player of the game in the locker room. Big moment for the kid. He needed it
Self with some comedy!
On McCormack's rebounding...
"David was a presence tonight. Yeah, he was a presence. I told him he needed to get 20 and 10. And what did he get? 14 and 14 and didn't miss a shot. So we'll take that. And he made two beautiful passes in the first half. One to an official, it almost knocked the official down. And the other one to somebody sitting in the second row. So he did it all tonight."
Would explain his off-game Saturday!
Self said he thinks Agbaji will be able to play.
βBut I still think it depends on how it feels too and everything,β Self said. βSo we're optimistic and hopeful in that regard. We need him to get back.β
Self added he isnβt sure when Agbaji tested positive, but he felt sick shortly after KUβs 80-62 home loss to Kentucky on Saturday.
βI think it happened that night or whatever,β Self said. βSo it will meet protocol for him to come back as long as he can pass everything else."
Bill to TJ before the game- Our Leading Scorer is out.
Also Bill- But my 11th guy is gonna smoke you guys tonight.

More disappointing season, Carr or Remy?
Definitely a tie right now. Carr is not good but he plays a lot more
I'd be hype too. Beard changes teams like babies change their diapers
Always wanted another year from Ben.
Yesufu with a cool 7, 5 and 4 in 23 minutes. I'm sending Bill a postcard to remember him on Saturday
This the 2 I always remember from julian
This the one
Mari had a block in one game that still blows my mind

@BeddieKU23 I don't remember Dok dribbling off his own foot, but yes, great game overall by those 2.
He never had to dribble cause he dunked everything
Getting up early and staying up just left Iowa St in chase mode. We forced our style on them. Never gave up the lead.
Juan and Dave won this game. Imagine your pg and c playing like that all the time. That was doke and dotson
Awesome win. That response was like they ran the bleachers for hours on Sunday
Lol Jackson gtfo
I can't ever recall seeing a guy make so many jumpers in my life its like he grew up watching guys from the 50s
Jesse Newell mentioned Yesufu was working hard to work into the rotation. If he doesn't play more after tonight I don't know what he has to do
Wilson has like laser beams eyes for knowing where rebounds are going
By far the worst ref crew we've seen?
Sure no charge. pancaked harris in the lane after he stood there for 5 seconds
