As always after trying to beat KU, TCU lost at home to Oklahoma

Garrett still hurt • Feb 15, 2019 11:09 PM

@HighEliteMajor

Agbaji and Dotson are my favorites as well. Hopefully we have another year with these two to fully appreciate them. Its unlikely we get 4 from either so I'm going to enjoy them while we get them.

Garrett still hurt • Feb 15, 2019 03:25 PM

@HighEliteMajor

Good question. I hope this doesn't impact Dave/Mitch's minutes. They have both played well recently.

I'm really hoping Self sticks with the 3/2 as well. We know Garrett is going to play 20+ minutes a night once he's fully healthy. His PER (16.6) in conference play is higher then McCormack, Grimes & Moore combined (14.5).

Since the Vick thing, Agbaji, Dotson, Lightfoot, KJ Lawson have raised their PER. I saw a lot of national media asking how KU would survive Vick's absence, well the answer is right there. 4 guys have seen at least a 1-2 point upswing in their PER with Vick's absence. That was just 1 week and Self has about 4 more weeks to keep fine-tuning. McCormack's is on the upswing as well but comes with the caveat that it was already very low and had no place to go but up with more minutes.

If the staff pays attention to advanced stats Charlie Moore would not play again unless it was an emergency. 2.8 in conference play. About as bad as humanly possible.

Garrett still hurt • Feb 15, 2019 02:51 PM

@HighEliteMajor

also add Moore to the deep deep bench. As in he only plays if the 4 guards you mentioned foul out

@mayjay

That was a great post.

If there is an infractions case being built against KU it will probably also include the Billy Preston situation.

Garrett still hurt • Feb 14, 2019 12:50 AM

Doesn't seem like he will play Saturday. With a nice week break after that game I think they are focused on having him ready early next week for the big road game at Texas Tech. Been a tough break for the kid. High ankle sprains are no joke

Not a ton of "facts" but the smoke surrounding considering that POS Gassnola a booster isnt going away hypothetical or not. Should KU have fought for Silvio or thrown in the towel to save face..

Yeah so about that Jeff Long..

2020 Recruiting • Feb 13, 2019 05:10 PM

@BShark

Wake me up to that one when he ends up at Duke/UK/insert ACC team

2020 Recruiting • Feb 13, 2019 02:21 PM

@BShark

Agree. He has roamed around that 30 to 40 level in the ranks for a while. Maybe he feels like a bigger priority for those teams that usually get in deep with these types. Generally you don't see the big boys come calling until summer for most underclassmen and it doesn't seem like he's going to wait for them to come calling. Might just be a different dude then we are used to seeing.

2020 Recruiting • Feb 13, 2019 01:43 PM

@BShark

He's a fit at both programs.

We have may backed off on some wings since Agbaji has become a star. 2020 class is loaded if everyone sticks. I guess there wasn't enough mutual interest here. He has an absence of elite level programs on his list but he's definitely a top shelf talent.

2020 Recruiting • Feb 13, 2019 10:41 AM

Julian Strawther released his final 10 without KU on it. Oh well

New 2019 Recruiting • Feb 12, 2019 09:51 PM

Hurt is averaging near 37 pts a game, 12 boards, 4 assists, 2 steals and blocks per game. He is 4th all time in Minnesota scoring with over 3000 points. He is only 58 points from 3rd all time. Shooting 65% fg and 45% from 3. He would change a lot about next season's projections if he comes

New 2019 Recruiting • Feb 12, 2019 09:22 PM

@jayballer73

He still has one official that he can take. Last I saw Nova, Indiana, Minnesota and Memphis were in the discussion for it but he never did say which one or when they would get it, if he did. I don't expect an answer with this kid til April.. but to answer your question haven't seen anything

Who else was still in play? Oregon?

I honestly had stopped paying attention.

Change my mind but I think Cameron Thomas, his teammate at Oak Hill is as good or better then Anthony and he's only a Jr. I've always admired Cole's game but man that Cam kid is something else.

Have you seen Cam?

Walking wounded invades TCU • Feb 12, 2019 05:19 PM

@Kcmatt7

I was amazed after the game to be honest.

I'm eating coal and humble pie today after thinking they were toast last night before the game and in the last few minutes of regulation as the lead slipped away. It just felt like so many other moments this season but this game was different. Guys took the adversity and fought back.

This felt like the defining moment of the season. Seeing the post game locker room with Self and the players confirmed just how big a win this was.

Heck with the streak it was great to see this team take a step forward in putting all adversity behind them.

I think Self has a group of 8 (soon to be 9) that will/has bought in. They played for each other last night and gave maximum effort almost the entire game. As soon as Vick is outed Dotson steps up, Agbaji steps up, Mitch steps up, KJ steps up. It's not hard to see the impact cutting ties with Vick has already had. Crazy.

Bill pressing the right buttons again. The entire offense looked more aggressive last night without anyone deferring to our piss poor senior leader to do something. I'm still holding my breath that Grimes breaks out sometime in the next month. If he does, this team is still dangerous.

To steal a line from Bill Raftery:

"Get the puppies organized"

Self re-organized the puppies and wow did this team looks different last night.
