This is the definition of a slimeball.

Arizona offers sister of Zeke.

Late Night Visitor List • Sep 28, 2018 01:09 PM

Forgot Chandler was even visiting.

Zeke coming in is big, didn't think that was happening at all. If he waits we definitely have another big to hedge in the fallout of JRE/Hurt

Self has to be so happy. We shouldn't get outrebounded all season.

2 scholarship players under 6'2. 10 over 6'4, yeah no excuse this season

@BeddieKU23 I think Stanley is more of a take out of necessity. He is about the last immediate impact Wing left for us besides Precious. Other Blue Bloods are in on everyone else.

I agree Stanley is what it is. Of course we should be excited that we have the chance with a top 30 talent but he's definitely not a perfect fit or likely to leave California either. Self would be good for him if he was humble and wanted to improve his potential to play for pay. We will see what happens, I've always been intrigued by his sheer elite athleticism. They dont grow on trees

2019 Recruiting • Sep 27, 2018 06:07 PM

The more I've dug into the Stanley recruitment the more he's in the "luxury" category for team need. A lot of mixed feelings on him across the landscape. Some say more athlete then player. Some question his character. Some question his skill level. He's a top 30'ish player that is kind of an enigma to forecast.

We are probably selling him on replacing Grimes- which is smart because he's a OAD and will get drafted in the lottery most likely but he probably more likely replaces Vick. He's probably the most gifted athlete in the entire class so I can see why Self has pushed for him but he's the type of player you worry about.

@Kcmatt7 @BShark

Doesn't it feel weird that we have depth again? It looks like the days of having only 8-9 healthy bodies is over with. Has made projecting who KU will get in recruiting difficult. Will KJ & Silvio be here next year? Those two could be studs next season

McBride has been kind of lost in this process. KU will have at minimum 5 perimeter players next season, 6 if KJ sticks around longer. Getting McBride would make 7. Stanley would be 8. Crowded situation. Maybe there is some affect on Stanley from a numbers perspective

Yeah I assume there would have to be a RS or two if the roster fills up like that. Braun would be a very likely candidate.

Interesting. I've been under the assumption Self has pretty much killed the red-shirt idea unless it fits the situation. Two players that would be ideal this year seem to be making a push for some kind of role- Mitch & Agbaji. For once KU has depth to the point good players will sit.

Braun does look like someone who would benefit from a S&C year right off the bat. Isn't he still young for his class? I can't imagine he's ready as a freshy

@BShark If McBride commits, does that affect Stanley? Is Stanley a combo?

Stanley is a wing most likely in KU's system. He can be a 2 guard as well but KU will have to have a dominate ball handler at PG for that to work.

Good thing Dotson should be around next season as well.

To answer your Q, I don't believe this has any affect on Stanley as they play different positions

Not sure if it was in this thread or not but Isaac McBride is down to Auburn, Virginia, and KU. He is visiting this weekend.

Wow so he went from down to Tennessee and KU to KU and two others.. Obviously Barnes getting James changed that dynamic.

If he leaves Late Night without being a take then I would assume its Auburn. Pearl is a slimeball

Officially he was down to 4, which included Auburn.

Tennessee being out of the picture should all but wrap this up if KU will take his commitment.

I failed to even pay attention to the fact he had a "top 4". I thought it was just two programs at the time KU entered his recruitment. I guess I was stuck on that.

I'm certainly all for him joining the fold. Players in his mold usually end up doing okay here. Added PG depth is never a bad thing to have. I think we are two seasons away from worrying about getting anyone at Dotson's level anyway. And if McBride is better then his ranking KU wins as well.

Tech N9ne is personally my favorite of the last 3 to perform. But he is definitely the least famous of the 3. His "Chopper" series is crazy cool, imo.

Ha. I'm in the exact same boat. Love Tech but 2Chainz is easily the biggest name here.

Getting 2 Chainz is comparable to Kentucky getting Drake all them years. It can't hurt, I'm glad Self sees the benefit of "putting on a show" especially with a big name

Texas Tech should see a bump, they are favorites currently for two 4 star recruits.

Of course KU is just getting started. I'm expecting KU will have to hit the road hard in the spring when we whiff on some guys this fall. I'll be surprised if we add anything before the regular season starts besides McBride (possibly).

Texas, West Virginia, Baylor are involved with numerous other Top 100 recruits. All 3 have young teams so it will be interesting to see what they can add without a ton of immediate PT to sell.

Late Night Visitor List • Sep 26, 2018 07:01 PM

@Kcmatt7

I can see that happening. I expect at least 2 seasons from Dotson but it could be 3 if we are lucky.

I don't know if the staff views Moore as a potential starting PG. We'll see soon enough.

Otherwise I do think it would be beneficial to keep the roster relatively open for elite level talents to come in 2020, a class that has a ton of perimeter talent already popping up. We are likely to have Moore, Garrett, Agbaji & Braun at the minimum so I would think the focus would be on bringing in elite talent to mix in. A lot will change between even this fall and the spring recruiting wise

@BeddieKU23 Damn. Guessing he will start right away there.

A good chance that happens especially since he's doing a post-grad year at Brewster and will go into College a bit older. Hamilton, I'm told has done the best job recruiting him since he became a hot commodity.

Shaka, however intrigued him with playing him at the 4 so there's a slight chance the salesman gets in his head

Just noticed that Precious Achiuwa hasn't set any visits yet. Seems strange that Duke and UK aren't involved there right? And with UConn the presumed leader? I don't know that Ollie will even be there in a year.

Ollie was fired, in came Hurley from Rhode Island to fix the ship. Hurley is the reason UCONN is probably the favorite to land him at the moment.

I hope he waits until spring. There are some scenario's where KU could get involved with him if he does wait. KU's recruiting is going to change a lot between now and the spring

Kcmatt7 said:

@BeddieKU23 He needs to completely rework his shot. He'd almost be better getting some G-League time where all he does is work on his jumper.

Ouch, for the 4th pick in the draft to the D-League. He's talented enough to stick but if he can't shoot his time in Phoenix will not last

Josh Jackson "Diary" • Sep 25, 2018 05:07 PM

If Summer League was any indication of his improvements.. It will be a long season for JJ. It's all in his shooting and shot selection. I wonder what role he'll have with the Suns this year. They made a lot of moves

@jayballer73

Yeah the song you mentioned isn't his but he was a feature on it. He's mainstream which is big, its different then Lil Yachty & Tech N9ne for example. This should impress Stanley

ya I can't remember when they announced last year , they just need to come up with something that recruits can relate with. - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

Looks like they announced the Tuesday of Late Night week last year. If that is anything to go by maybe we get something later today or tomm

2019 Recruiting • Sep 24, 2018 04:36 PM

@jayballer73

I'm not as worried about Arizona but strategically you always want the last visit if your the perceived favorite, something KU isn't getting here.

His KU connections are well known. You stated them.

JRE did an instragram live feed with Green. Some comments, basically sounded as if he was telling UNC fans needed to get on Green, when asked the question- that Green wasn't the one sold on going to UNC (But JRE is). That's how I saw it, could be wrong, I hope I'm wrong.

For me, the flags raised when he went to IMG. Its good for JRE, better competition, facility, etc. More room for him to grow. But it wasn't good for KU geographically and in recruiting. And now you have other influences involved- Green mostly. He'll also visit UA with Green, I don't think that friendship can be blown off here. It may be a stronger influence then we thought?

Of course KU has its shot this weekend. Self gets to reinforce his message and the one big advantage Bill has in this fight was getting to coach him. That was weeks worth of unofficial recruiting, an advantage I hope prevails. If that didn't sell him nothing else is going to. Late Night does nothing, he's seen it before. Other recruits are here as well officially so the staff will have to juggle time. He knows everything about KU already. This is down to JRE and Self, nothing else in my mind. That relationship has to win out.

Again all just my personal opinion but I think he favors UNC right now and picks them. I hope its misguided thoughts. I hope the IMG thing was just about JRE spreading his wings (figuratively).

I know we've talked about JRE a lot for good reason. There were times it was rumored he was a silent commit. But those rumblings never became fact and since then everything but the Team USA experience has shifted this recruitment elsewhere and primarily to Roy. I really do hope I'm just reaching and have this situation wrong

2019 Recruiting • Sep 24, 2018 02:12 PM

definitely more concerned after seeing some social media stuff- in regards to JRE.. Hope its nothing

KU better knock this weekend out of the park with him or I think we lost him to Roy.

2019 Recruiting • Sep 24, 2018 12:00 PM

@jayballer73

Can't fault them for having some confidence in this one. They did everything right. Bring in Green his good friend. Bring in Bacot, his future teammate at IMG.

UNC has its recruiting momentum back. Probably in as good as spot for Cole Anthony as any as well. Would have really liked to see JRE's final visit be KU but its Arizona. This whole situation has felt a bit off since the summer. Hope it turns out being nothing in the end

2020 Recruiting • Sep 21, 2018 05:44 PM

@Kcmatt7

Pretty much sums it up. Some of it is timing as well. I always thought KU kept track of Harvey because of JRE. Harvey will play D-1, maybe even a P5 school when its said and done.

2019 Recruiting • Sep 21, 2018 04:22 PM

@Woodrow

Just cut his list to 3.

2020 Recruiting • Sep 21, 2018 04:21 PM

@jayballer73

I'm just going off my gut here. It seemed things were trending away with Harvey before his legal issues became known to the public. I'm not convinced he developed to the point KU was going to keep interest. Again just my own personal opinion here.

With the amount of talent in the 2020 class especially at the perimeter positions I would be surprised if Harvey was in the cards.

2020 Recruiting • Sep 21, 2018 03:54 PM

@jayballer73

Even if his legal issues were non-existent I don't think KU would have taken him. Could be wrong here though

2020 Recruiting • Sep 21, 2018 01:30 PM

Good bigs in 20 are going to be hard to come by if this class keeps trending the way it is. Really important KU doesn't miss in 19 here

Strawther is criminally under-ranked. Would have thought that would have been corrected after he went toe to toe with Jalen Green this summer

2020 Recruiting • Sep 21, 2018 09:36 AM

2020 looks like it will be a battle for top talent. At this point I don't think KU has any advantage with anyone. It may be interesting to see if KU can get Jr's to take visits with that rule change.
