Josh Green had 37 today. He’s rising quickly up my wish list. KU is going to need some scoring in 2019, and he gets buckets.

If Duke nut punches Self/KU for Hampton, Josh Green becomes a top target imo.

Landing either prospect has to be considered a win-win. Both would be insane and an option given they play different positions

Damn. Expected though. Texas was the only team really after him which I think says something.. Ramey can be good in time but we all know Shaka doesn't help that development curve. You either show up good or else

I'm shocked Doke was invited but I guess the interest in him was greater then anything written about him. He'll get his chance and he'll get workouts etc. This seems like one we are seeing the first step to him finding a professional career.

The power of KU's brand definitely helped him here.

Thanks for keeping us informed along the way.

Crazy how much pressure Indiana fans put on him to play for a 500 team

Langford • Apr 30, 2018 12:17 AM

@FarmerJayhawk

Of course but the decision hasn't really felt in ku' s favor for a while so that was the real point of my post.

@BeddieKU23 Ya I know the one your talking about. - -Seems like he has a little knowledge. At least like you said he kept saying Dotson/Grimes - -Dotson/Grimes to KU. - -I'll just say it's not going to floor me if he announces to Indiana - -but we just can not say 100% for sure at this point - -there maybe some hidden thing we just don't know. - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

Yeah, this person has consistently doubled-down every time. Now saying he's known for a month..Grimes/Dotson those weren't ground breaking news, KU was favored almost every step of the way for both. Hard to compare what he's claiming to them.

With Romeo it certainly seems as though IU has the inside track. We will certainly know in about 3 days if there's anything to get excited about. I'll be glad its over as I'm sure everyone else will be who's followed this long-dragged-out recruitment.

Norm is going to watch Precious this weekend. He likes KU quite a bit. UConn and FSU are teams to watch.

Have consistently heard he likes KU- especially Norm. This isn't the type of player we let go to a Uconn or FSU.. This is a top 5 player in his class I think when its all said and done

For sure. Norm is the man up there. It’s early but I like our chances.

Definitely I don't see this one ending soon. It's going to be interesting to see if the staff can land multiple players at the same position.. Hurt, Achiuwa, JRE. Maybe Achiuwa settles into being a big SF, although that's probably a bit wishful thinking there as he's continued to grow. Hopefully we keep on him this summer

Norm's stomping grounds. If anyone can close him...

Great to hear that he likes KU, kind of unusual for someone from NY. Going to be a battle.

Jalen Carey liked Norm and KU as well at this point last year so yeah its early and a battle for sure. Of course Achiuwa is a different echelon of player so I'd imagine he's going to be a bigger priority

Re-worked pre-season top 25 for 2018-19 • Apr 27, 2018 02:20 PM

@justanotherfan

Maybe Doke will be able to develop into a more versatile defender this off-season if he returns. Hudy was starting the scratch the surface with his body this year.

His bad matchup with Spellman he wasn't 100% so its tough to get a full read how different he could have defended him if he wasn't limited. I don't think it would have been a big difference but we don't know. At least its a glaring weakness that can be addressed either here with our staff or wherever he ends up.

Combine Invites go out today. Could be as many as 6 KU players invited.. We'll see.

The most interest will be whether Doke gets one or not

@mayjay How do you possibly think there could be a level playing field if players are allowed endorsement money in college? There is absolutely no way any non-blue blood could compete. It would make the gap between the haves and the have nots too great.

Isn't the NCAA tourney already that? What non P5 or high level program has won the tourney.

WKU could be sneaky good next year. Potential tournament team if they can put it all together.

WSU will have a completely new rotation next season. Will be interesting how their staff handles that much turnover.

I wouldn't be surprised if both of those statements are true. WKU did well in the NIT. I think some of its nucleus returns outside of Coleby.

NCAA Commission Findings Release • Apr 26, 2018 06:11 PM

The declaring and returning with eligibility needs some work.

It could be as simple as a deadline that is implemented after the combine ends. Say kids have a 1-2 week interval to decide on staying in the draft or going back to College. Not all kids get accepted to the combine but you see others getting NBA workouts on the side. They could also put a hard date in around the time summer school starts as well to coincide with schools off-season priorities.

That way your not leaving coaches completely out to dry. We are seeing record transfers, HS kids reclassifying late into the summer etc that recruiting and adding players seems like a never ending cycle. Didn't Whitman come to KU on a Tuesday and leave by a Friday? Kidding of course but we see programs adding players at what used to be dead periods.

Things have changed, I don't think this particular change would be that difficult.

A dumpster fire? • Apr 26, 2018 01:47 PM

If this recent article is to be believed KU isn't dumping them. $191 million on the table. Yeah money talks.

The FBI is worried about the crumbs instead of the whole pie

NCAA Commission Findings Release • Apr 26, 2018 10:11 AM

The best part of the report was the one about letting College Players enter the draft and come back to school if they go undrafted, retaining eligibility. This idea needs some work behind it- like deadlines for returning but I do think this was one of the best recommendations made for the kids.

I was a fan of harsher penalties for coaches and cheaters. This seemed to be aimed at the Rick Pitino's, Jim Boeheim's and others of the world as well as the assistant coaches that were caught up in the FBI sweep. Nothing will hit harder to coaches and administrations if the penalties are severe enough to make them think twice. As it was, there was no fear for them to do the right thing. This entire system revolved around good faith. The doors have fallen off that train. They will be unable to hop-skip-and-jump to their next payday somewhere else and keep this corruption going. I hope this is enforced and put in.

Other things in this report were a hot pile of garbage. The OAD rule is not the issue, it seems more of a headline piece to distract from other bigger issues. Kids should absolutely have the right to go to the NBA out of HS. There seems to be movement from the NBA according to league sources. 2020 draft could be the end as is being discussed. If the OAD rule is eliminated see ya later to the Top 20 or so prospects every year in the College Game.

Where in this report was their anything about Shoe Companies. Transparency? Oh that sounds so big. Wow give me a break. This report just slid right on by that big Pandora's Box. Of course the money tied to the NCAA with Shoe Companies and Universities is just too much to ruffle up.

At least the report called out the NCAA enforcement for being incompetent.

Posting where my talents are better used!

Nevada adds Old Dominion transfer Trey Porter as a grad transfer. Huge need for them and if their 3 to-be seniors return this is a Top 10 squad next season.

Ibi Watson of Michigan goes to Dayton. Sit 1 to play 2

DeSean Murray of Auburn goes to Western Kentucky as a grad transfer. Big pickup for them

Ricky Torres a Juco All-American signs with Wichita St to become the Shockers 18 thousandth roster movement. Probably a good chance he starts

@BeddieKU23 At the end of the season they were playing well enough to play MSU to the wire twice and beat Purdue. They get a freshmen back who was hurt who was playing well before his early season injury. Trice will be back too, but I'm not super high on him. They've had some major recruiting misses so I think this is a big season for Gard.

Definitely I thought they pissed down their leg in the Big-10 tourney against Michigan St. They looked better at that point then at any I saw them before. The Big-10 at this point looks down a considerable amount atm so I wouldn't be surprised to see them do well in the league next year

Oklahoma St adds Mike Cunningham, a grad transfer from USC Upstate who averaged 13ppg. Immediately eligble

@BeddieKU23 In your opinion who are the under-rated teams? Gonzaga and? If 21 of the top 25 are over-rated who do you think are the sleepers?

Good question. So many incomplete rosters. I know my post seemed doom and gloom but it wasn't intended to be that way.

The AAC was dismissed. Cincinnati, Houston, Memphis all return good talent and with Wichita & Uconn likely to be down they have good chances to be ranked.

NC St is an intriguing team. Adding 4 transfers and 3 Top 100 kids. Big talent shift.

Texas Tech is not going away. Beard will add more transfer talent to compete

Xavier, Creighton & Marquette from the Big East l

Washington & Utah from the Pac-12 as Arizona, UCLA & USC all take steps back

Forgot to mention Nevada who was in the Top 25 list. If their 3 players return they should be good again

@BeddieKU23 Parrish has us at #1 as well I think. If Doke comes back that is. But he left us at #1 even while assuming Newman and Vick left.

I think people are a little too high on our transfers. But I honestly expect us to be a top 3 team this season.

We'll have the talent of a Top 5 team especially if Doke returns. Langford would put us over the top.

I I think our ceiling drops a notch if De Sousa isn't eligible. Perimeter shooting is the biggest team oriented weakness I see right now.

Re-worked pre-season top 25 for 2018-19 • Apr 24, 2018 05:06 PM

There's no way KU should or deserve to be #1 right now. If Azubuike returns and Langford signs then there's a case for being #1 but this will still be a team replacing 4 of 5 starters from its Final 4 team.

Gonzaga actually is the team that has benefited the most this off-season. Tillie & Hachimura returning was huge for them. With Perkins, Norvell & Kispert also returning they have 5 starters back. They add a high scoring transfer & a Top 100 big man as well.

There's no way Villanova will be the same team unless Divicenzo & Spellman both return.

Duke, Kentucky- overrated just like every year. Relying on freshman in a down class, please be my guest

Tennessee makes some sense. Return a ton although Barnes always has a tough time living up to expectation

Virginia- returns largely the same team that couldn't score. Must replace 2 starters and no established bench. Pass

UNC got a bump when Johnson decided to return. Little looks like a stud OAD. Will be a young team.

Michigan St will be fine but is being overrated this early.

Auburn- no way #11

Kansas St- Should be a top 15 team by the looks of it

West Virginia- Nope. Carter & Miles replacements- Beetle Bolden and who??

Virginia Tech- Should be good, #14 is high.

Oregon- No denying the talent infusion. Season makes or brakes on how interested Bol Bol is at playing. Louis King is a stud

Syracuse- Bubble team at best once again especially if Battle stays in the draft. Jalen Carey will be a star in time.

Michigan- Desperately needs Charles Matthews to return. Not really a top 25 team without

Loyola - Hard to imagine them duplicating their success but they have a solid nucleus coming back.

Clemson- Should be solid if the seniors return

Florida St- Underrated especially if Cofer gets a 6th year.

LSU- Lots of young talent. Wildcard bunch

Miss St- No thanks

TCU- Will be good once again, a bit underrated

Butler- Lose too much

Purdue- Losing the majority of your team. Metcalf somehow missed that

Won't be in College long. Plays at IMG where Silvio was before he came to KU. His size and wingspan make him an ideal SG at the NBA level. Did well at the Nike Hoop Summit recently. KU has been on him for a while. UK involved now as well. Elite wing
