At the moment the UCF game is a quad 1 loss
KU wins another game
Kenpom/Torvik- yep move KU down so more.
Going to be real interesting to see who's right the further we get along. Self or the numbers guys.
Absolutely I'm still going to go back and see if it was adjustment at halftime as team or individual efforts. Remember him coming off a bunch of high ball screens freely in the first half and don't recall that happening much at all in the 2nd.
Crazy that Tomlin was dismissed at Kansas St and then a few weeks later is playing for Memphis. Where's the morals of these schools? I know the answer so no need. KU taking Morris, same deal, different red flags.
The Mikey situation fits why I bring this up. Why UCF, why would you ever take a chance on this kid given what's happened.
Chaotic week for the Top 10ish. Gonna be like that every week perhaps too.
We should not have lost to UCF. It was also considered a Quad 1 loss for the NET. They do have a Top 20 defense with a well-respected coach, we didn't give them proper respect either. This was their conference home opener (first game in Big-12) and their home court environment is legit (very unexpected). I watched them battle BYU to the end Saturday with a chance to win and their fans helped that comeback as well. I was expecting to see a half dead place after winning their super bowl but their fan support is much better then I thought. They might be most athletic team in the league.
I haven't seen a noticeable difference between Furphy & Elmarko's defense as far as which freshman gets picked on more when they are in the game. Elmarko gets scored on more but Furphy fouls more and usually in situations where he gets 2 back-to-back where he has to sit after. I think teams do attack both with success in different ways though. I'm optimistic with Furphy's defensive potential down the line due to size and wingspan. His lateral quickness is something that will hopefully come with a full offseason here (he didn't have one coming in). Elmarko should also be a good defender in time once he figures out how to apply his quickness and athletic ability. He's just raw and young.
It's an improving skill of his but I wouldn't call it a strength of his yet. He seems to board in bunches and then disappear at times still, but I'm very encouraged by what I've seen this year as far as growth there. There should be no excuse why he can't get 7-8 a game with his physicality and athleticism. He's averaged 9.5 boards per his last 4 games so this point of emphasis with him is starting to pay off.
Good question I'm going back to the film to watch. McCollum is the type that's going go have days like that, very streaky and gets points in bunches.
We are lucky to have him, he's still super young. Could have been a 24 recruit but we got lucky having a need. Comparable to Svi from a physical standpoint when he came here. An offseason in the weight room and he's going to be a monster here.
Coming from an NBA factory as well.
Elmarko is just green to the game and it's showing at this level. He isn't close to his ceiling. Maybe his leap will come later in the season
He's definitely been a bit hobbled since conference play started.
I think Furphy being ready for the starting lineup does two big things. It takes even more pressure off Harris to be the 4th scorer. The last two seasons show that if Juan is your 5th guy your good because the 4th guy gets a decent amount of looks and can weather when Harris has his games where he isn't going to score. Furphy's skillet is very important to the lineup because he's a lot different then Jackson.
Pretty much every statistic in less minutes Furphy is better. Elmarko just isn't the answer in the lineup due to Juan.
The 2nd big thing is the spacing that Furphy can provide on offense and rebounding on defense. Furphy gives you another 3 point threat which is the biggest weakness of this team on that side of the ball. Defensively he gives you another rebounder with plus size because outside Hunter and Kev we don't have good rebounders. I think this move pays off and it's what has to happen. Elmarko will hopefully adjust to this new role and find out how he can help
Bye bye bye Houston to TCU on layup
Furph should be out there
OU has a Adams, ours is just way better
Adams with a double double. He's boarding now which is fun
Forcing turnovers and making some shots. Have all the momentum for OU to go another 100 years without winning here
Refs finally woke up
Big time
Wow ref that's the other way
Yeah kev is doing smart things here
If Uweh hits the portal yes please
Kev and Remy. I say it's a tie between the 3
This is what we need. That 4th scorer and it's furphy because he will run the floor and shoot the 3. Game changer
Keep the pedal on
So 1 sided it's unreal
OU 157th in steals. Last 2 opponents were in top 30 I believe.
Foul on KJ ARE YOU KIDDING ME
Man open shots gotta make
I wanna know how them blind refs missed KJ get hacked on that layup
Not quick enough laterally yet and needs some muscle on that frame. He'll get there but he's all hands which is what is costing him
Nice sequence
Not a foul omg
Sounds like this game was already made an espn plus game before they would know Oklahoma would be ranked as high as they are. There wasn't expectations for what they are doing. Still I agree they could have put this on TV.
Well at least we still have the lead.
Kj that's awesome effort
Man this is some horrid shooting
It's streamable for free on many sites
Yeah
Backcourt is 3-10. Gotta make shots
What a struggle bus on offense
Offense gets stagnet and then mistakes get made
Redic
Furphy with some electric energy early
It's Furphinator Time
@kjayhawks said in Is this KU team "lucky" to be 13-1 after Saturday:
I blame @BeddieKU23 for last night🤣🤣
Me too!
It was a short lived 13-1. Hopefully that was rock bottom last night. Even if the game thread gave you an idea how bad they played, seeing it would make it that much worse. A good dose of reality for the team and for us
It's all my fault. I said we'd have to play like the Topeka YMCA year to lose and sure enough it came true. Its right there in the first post. Shame on me. Call me names, I deserve it.
If our next game wasn't at home we'd be in trouble
