Good thing you mentioned the fouls and energy thing. That is another big issue we have on the horizon without the depth to give our guards a rest.
I know that he won't play Zone, and I seem to bring it up every year. I don't like Zone Defense but it can be effective in situations and it should be on the table if these guys don't feel like manning up. I'd hate to see us play 40 minutes in a game of man defense and clearly see it struggling without going to the bag of tricks.
Probably won't start on-time with the Florida game having 10 minutes still. We'll see.
Any predictions? Haven't seen any chatter about this game, line is 11. Tech should be 2-0. We will need to play better then we did against KSU
He's a lefty Point Guard. Definitely has some upside to him in my opinion he ran a good team this summer on the AAU circuit. Can finish with both hands, quick, solid jumper.. Like his vision as well. No idea the interest level we have but definitely could be a 4 year type
can't really take much of what is said there with any substance. Discussions go 0-100 real quick. We've known from our own coach that he thinks Devonte is gone. The other stuff said in that post are just made up

I think you would agree that Preston and Diallo's situations differ significantly so Self really doesn't have much influence whether he gets here or not.
What is good though is that if the situation gets to the point where KU must intervene and help the situation out we have to feel confident that they would go to war for Billy as they did Diallo.
I don't think the situation will prove too difficult if nothing changes between now and when he potentially gets cleared. He'll either have the necessary grades, core classes and scores to make it or not.. The only issue I see is whether or not he can get transcripts from the schools that no longer exist.

What are we getting:
Sam was averaging 9.5 points per game, 4.8 rebounds, 1.4 assists off 34% FG's, 40% from 3 point range in 10 games before abruptly leaving the Sun-Devils.
Cunliffe was the highest rated recruit to play for Arizona St since James Harden. He was a prolific High School player known for his scoring, athleticism and deep range on the jumper.
His freshman year was too short to make much judgement from but it was met with much criticism after he left. Some of it might be valid. Does any of it really matter? Not really, if you don't get with the program here you don't last, you don't play, you will find your exit. I hope that the year off gives him the opportunity to mature and work to become a rotation player next year for this squad.

Oh yeah his clearance will be one to watch. Went to 2 schools that now don't exist.. went to oak Hill knowing they could possibly help him get eligible. We will see what happens

Going to a rowdy game with how the first one ended. Emotions will be high against KU. Reminds me of last year's OU game and KU came out in Norman and played huge

It should only be 9 games or how many games KU plays before the end of the 1st semester. Can't really speculate how effective he will be missing those games but he's a high level scorer that can be eased into the lineup. All depends on what Svi does

More important then having a monster class is having the pieces that fit together. We are all seeing what struggles Duke is having with a OAD roster that isn't together as a team.
If we lose Graham to the draft we need Trae Young to come in here and be a tough nosed freshman that can make shots (something he's very good at). That's if Trae comes here.
Preston, Garrett, potentially Young, that's 3 very good pieces. Newman was a top 10 player coming in so lots is expected of his one year here as a transfer. We are likely to get Cunliffe too as a mid season transfer, making that 5 potential top 50ish kids coming in. I expect we will still try and get 1 to 2 more after that. It may not be as sexy of a class as those you mentioned but might fit every gap and area of need
I posted in another thread that I'm glad Self has called out the defense. It's his ploy to get more from this group. He can't complain about the scoring because this team can put up 90 and still feel like we left points off the board, that's scary to think. I'm concerned the defense will lead to a loss soon but it's inevitable we will drop a game in conference. There is no shortage of losable games coming up on the road. The defense seems to be the leaky wheel that will have to have some changes brought to it. Maybe this team even zones like we did against Georgia to get a win. Honestly there should be more options then just man because we may not have the depth to keep forcing these guys to play man defense..
I like what Self is doing by saying all these things to the media about the defense. It forces the issue to be on the players minds until they as a group decide to buckle down. Because they haven't lost a game in so long Self doesn't have a lot of ammunition to draw from currently and until this team drops a game due to its defense we may not see the change we all want to see.
Maybe it's going to take a loss for the guys to regroup and start focusing on stopping teams or this team is truly going to be an outlier in the Self Era. It's too early to tell because we have the guys to be good defensively.
We may also just have to accept that in order to be the offensive juggernaut we are, we might have to accept average defensive play. This team may not be capable of playing 2 way ball. From injuries to not enough depth in certain area's we are who we are. A damn good team that is still not firing on all cylinders

Currently nothing until the spring roles along. Transfers, decommits should all be in our wheelhouse after the tourney. We have one more to play with now that maxwell is gone.
It seems we should have a Bragg and Doke plus Lightfoot. Coleby will be interesting to see if he continues on playing with the way he has had trouble recovering. Preston is still in my mind not someone we can count on until his transcripts are accepted by the NCAA'S.
Self will need to find someone he can potentially give 3rd or 4th big man minutes too.
Will be a fun spring seeing what we get

How much of it is really that KU underestimated or KU fans did. K-st played hungry and played their butt off. I think fans and most media that follow the series know that the game in Manhattan is closer then Lawrence. I'm surprised the game was close as I predicted a beat down but it should be no surprise that our rival played maybe above its normal level and KU didn't play it's best and still won in the end.
