Missed bunny and 3 sloppy TOs...
ISU and TTU a good game - much higher level of play...
What has become quickly clear is that Shak is a difference maker. Allows us to win ugly...
Not often that you can shoot 35% from the field and 2-21 from 3 on the road and come away with a win....
Mayo and Moore > Griffen and Storr...

when KJ elbow J isnt automatic, his shooting them will catch some static
It is never automatic, always erratic.... ;)
KJ can't even come close on those open 12 footers...
KJ is actually our second leading scorer this game....
Amazing the good things that can happen when you drive into the paint...
Griffen and Storr a combined 1-7...
Now 2-17 from 3. My daughter's rec league team can do better than that...
Storr may be a decent scorer, but he is decidedly not a good basketball player...
Yet another example of KJ not going strong all the way to the rim through contact...
KJ a bit more active on the boards, but Cinn sloughs off of him every time he touches the ball - tough to get good spacing...
2-12 from 3 - lucky Cinn has been even worse...
Only semi-good thing to say about the 1st half is that we are just down 1...
@kjayhawks said in WKRP in Cincinnatti:
19:15 seconds before a foul on them
Because we don't do much to earn fouls....
AJ is definitely a black hole - ball goes into him and doesn't come back out...
5 sloppy TOs...
We are allergic to attacking the rim. All 5 buckets from outside the paint.

Lots of touches for KJ on perimeter thus far
To little effect...

Storr just isn't a fit here. They shoulda known better but it was a bad eval and here we are.
Sucks for both sides. If Moore and Rylan continue to ascend as we are seeing then we don't have to worry about it too much.
He will be at his 8th school next yr
So, went back and looked at Storr's stats last year trying to figure what the attraction was. Shiny almost 17ppg, but....43% FG%; 32% from 3 - 4 RPG - 1 APG with almost 2 TOs. Known defensive liability and extremely inefficient scorer who doesn't contribute elsewhere. And throw in the multiple schools. Why???
Started up 6-0.
9-7 Hawks at first TV timeout.
Watching UK-UF. A lot of athleticism. Multiple players on each team who can create and attack the rim. And 3pts shooters everywhere...
I really like KJ and glad he is a Jayhawk - just not as a 30 mpg starter. Against P5 level competition this year - WVU, NC State, Mizzou, Creighton, Duke, MSU, and UNC, he has reached double figures just twice - 11 and 14 pts. More than 5 RBs just once. He doesn't rebound, he doesn't block out, he can't shoot, can't create his own shot, can't shoot over length, and he doesn't use his strength to attack the rim and draw fouls. He can guard the perimeter, knows the offense, and the ball doesn't stick with him. Would be a really good 10-15 minutes bench player who can bring energy and enthusiasm. Expecting more, especially against P5 frontcourt athletes, is simply inexplicable...
Yet once again KJ with a weak ass effort going to the rim...
Small has completely controlled the game...
Yesufu has more points than KJ, AJ and Rylan combined......
@SlimShaddy54 said in West Virginia- a game finally:
Flory with nine rebounds - -now ten rebounds
And, KJ, playing the same position has - sorry - one...
As bad as the offense has been, the defense has arguably been worse. They are continually getting shots at the rim...
KJ and AJ - 2pts combined with zero rebounds or assists...
WVU has 8 made buckets - 7 of them dunks or at the rim...
We're on pace for 28 pts....
Good things happen when you attack the rim...
@wissox said in West Virginia- a game finally:
I do remember some epic comebacks against WVU.
There shouldn't have to be one at home, esp. with WVU short-handed...
WVU multiple shots near the rim - zero for the Hawks..
The B12 has been the top conference top to bottom the past few years, but not this one:
"The SEC is 42–2 as a conference over the past 13 days with wins over Kansas, Gonzaga, Purdue, Illinois, North Carolina, Clemson, Ohio State, Louisville, Creighton, Arizona State and Michigan (twice). I know some of you might be tired of hearing it, but we really are watching arguably the most impressive non-league performance by a conference in the history of college basketball.
Current SEC record: 157-20.
Every other power conference has at least twice as many losses. No other power conference is within 11 victories. The SEC's top-ranked KenPom.com rating is up to +20.01, which is 3.20 points higher than the second-best league (Big 12). As longtime researcher Jared Berson noted, the SEC is now an incredible 19-8 in nonconference games against teams ranked in the Associated Press Top 25 poll."
Unprecedented dominance...
Well, we won the North Carolina state championship, but I'm not sure that is worth much. The SEC was 27-3 against the ACC coming into today. Other than Duke, the ACC is wholly bereft of any quality wins and many, many non-conf losses...
Okay, now I'm comfortable we have it in hand.... ;)
Zeke entry passes are terrible...
I would like to feel that we have the game comfortably in hand, but....
Only 3 pts from our bench. Griffen and Storr combined 1-7 for 2pts...
We are getting out coached. They continue to drop the ball inside and drawing fouls if they don't make the bucket...
Really bad stretch - which we seem to have several of every game....
Middlebrooks is killing us. Guy was even a starter until a few games ago.
@stoptheflop said in North Carolina Champion to be crowned today.:
8 fouls KU; 2 NCSt. Refs keeping NCst in this game
It's not on the refs. They are working the ball inside and getting to the rim. We are not...
@AsadZ Came in, took one quick bad shot, and then back out...
@FarmerJayhawk We're not doing anything to draw a foul...
