KU could not start this pressure and foul strategy earlier because they don't have the bodies to commit those fouls sooner.

But given that, Self could have and should have been stealing a few minutes each half of each game from Mitch and Coleby. They've demonstrated that they can be fairly productive when they're in there.

Now it's just embarrassing. Same ending as the game in Morgantown, but so much worse at home....

I didn't think DG and Svi could play worse than the TTU game - but they have........

Same score in the UConn - SC women's game - but at least there is some history on that one - I may switch over.....

15 minutes in and still just 3 second half buckets.... That's actually hard to do....

Good stat line for Carlton tonite - zero everything except for 4 fouls....

This is actually a worse performance than the loss to was it TCU or TTU that HCBS called the worst performance ever? At least that was on the road...

Vick has as many points as Frank, DG and Svi combined....

8 minutes in and still only 2 buckets in this half. 4 of our starters have 1 bucket each. Hard to figure this one out....

JJ has missed 5 or 6 shots at the rim...

Defense has tightened up a bit, but offense still missing. 2 buckets this half in 5+ minutes, both from JJ. Starters now 7-28 from the field. JJ the only one with more than 1 bucket....

So, HCBS is having the O run through LL so far this half - we'll see how that works out...

Hhmm - not the auspicious start we were looking for...

You're right, of course - I feel much better now about the 1st half....

Each of our starters has 1 bucket - 5-23 from the field. Not going to win many games shooting like that. Kinda lucky to just be down 9. Thank goodness for Vick showing up....

Very similar to TTU game in that we're getting nothing from DG and Svi...

Not too often we'll see both Mitch and Coleby in at the same time....

JJ is 0-6 from the field but still impacting the game - rebounds and passing. The kid is a player...

I guess that it is tautological that good teams win, but I respectfully disagree that wins like these win championships. Was it a gritty, nerve-wracking win? Yes. But, consistently giving up nearly 50% shooting to average teams, routinely allowing them to score above their season averages, and too often getting handily beat on the glass (in this case by a team that plays 6-8 and 6-6 guys up front) is not a recipe for a title. Yes, you're inevitably going to need to win a couple of close ones in the tournament and this team has demonstrated it is capable of winning the close games. But the evidence is pretty darn compelling that you have to have a good to very good (if not great defense) to win championships. Have made this point elsewhere, but there is no precedent in the last decade for a team to win the title with defensive metrics as mediocre as ours. Always a first time, but that is what it would have to be...

Oh for the days when we would lead the nation in FG% defense - usually held teams below 40% shooting.

Why didn't LL go straight up with the board. Had an easy dunk...

Forgetting suggests he knows it. He plays much smaller than 6-8. Contributes virtually nothing on the boards. He's been in most of the game and has 2 RBs - both of which bounced out to him on the perimeter. And, he doesn't block out. Really need him to play like 6-8 once in a while and help out on the interior - like JJ does....

Frank is clearly a step or more slower than usual...

Difference so far is that we've mostly protected the ball and they haven't - 3 TOs for us 9 for them. Defense not good otherwise - they're shooting over 50% and out rebounding us....
