Really stoked on this one. Think he’s definitely a high level Big 12 type talent.

Same! I was in the last year of my master's and about 4 rows behind the basket when Cliff got T'd up for the flex lol

Yep... and now I forgot the other guy's name... big man from Chicago. He zero'd out for us, too.

With NIL the Cliff situation would’ve been above board most likely, unless they do some weird restriction to only group licensing. And I’ll be honest that whole cycle was unbelievably dirty at the top holy crap. The Jones/Okafor/Cliff love triangle was WILD.

You know, honest question here. I really thought that Alexander was going to be a star, and so did everyone else. And it's not like be played against non-competition in Chicago. What, just a bad dude or what? And what happened to him?

He played in kind of a whacky system in HS. I don't think they ever really played man defense. It was a strict 2-3 zone and he barely left the paint. It took him a loooong time to adapt to Big 12 competition and Self's system. Clearly the talent was there. He started the last 5 games he played. Advanced stats were good. I agree with Tex, he would've been very good the following year.

The NCAA investigation is what’s impacting KU more than anything else right now will continue to until a verdict is handed down.

Is that because top shelf talent is shying away from Kansas or is it because Self and crew finally realize it just isn't worth it recruiting most of those "basket cases?"

Looking at the visit schedule this month. They are getting VERY aggressive with top talent now. KU always has great visits so given that nobody has been able to do them in 15 months, strike fast and hard.

@FarmerJayhawk Do you know if KU is planning on full capacity for basketball games this upcoming season or will it still be reduced capacity?

If it's full capacity, I'm making every effort to fly up for the Missouri game for my birthday weekend.

That’s definitely the plan. Whether Douglas Co lets them is TBD.

@Texas-Hawk-10 said in Call your Shot on Agbaji & Wilson returning:

Curry doesn't reopen his recruitment unless the staff was getting messages that Agbaji was leaning towards returning.

I'm also very curious what an Agbaji and Wilson return does to the line up because that affects several players. Yesufu seemed like he was a better fit as a 6th man, but we also know Self likes two capable ball handlers and JCL is not that because he's essentially an undersized 3 so would Self start him at the 2 over Yesufu?

I’ve always been under the impression Remy and Yesufu were going to start, JCL would play an Isaiah Moss type role. My dream was Marcus coming back to play the 2, but obviously his heart was set on the pro route. Remy and Marcus would’ve been a DIRTY backcourt.

Is KU charging Charlie or his parents to live in McCarthy since the family already paid for the building?

Some serious 5D chess here. Not only do they get their kid a walk-on spot, he gets to live in some of the nicest dorms in the country, all because you wrote a big check. This is probably why he's rich. BIG BRAIN MOVE

Och - 3:1 odds he leaves

Wilson: 9:1 leaves

Roster posted! https://kuathletics.com/sports/mbball/roster/ ↗

Couple notes: Harris added 10 pounds. Which is good. Pettiford taking the legendary #0. Curry still listed lol. Big Dave isn’t so big, down to 250. Clemence needs to be with Doc Ramsey like 24/7. 221 aint gonna do it in this league night in and night out.

How is all these guys going to effect our 2022 recruiting farmer ? - these guys gonna be blue shirts ?

Good question. My impression is they’re coming off the 2022 class. Which makes sense IMO. The limit in 22 was never going to be the 25 initial counters, but the 85 man cap since covid goosed all the numbers.

Have you heard anything on Woods ? -thought it sounded like he was coming ?

Not super recently. We might be out of DL spots now to be honest. A lot of 3-4 ends are moving inside

Yessir. Trevor Wilson (WR) committed as well. Hearing more guys will announce tomorrow. Novitsky the center and Woods the DT are likely

@Texas-Hawk-10 I don’t. It would be out of Bill’s norm to redshirt a freshman if he didn’t have to. If it were me I probably would just because there’s no clear role for him this year and he could be a nice player in a couple years.

@jayballer67 not at all. JCL has better ball skills than Ochai but not good enough to play the 2 when Self likes two combos out there.

So in what terms are you talking then ? - - -JCL better Fg % then Och ( 43.5 to 42 % ) - - a lot better ft % then Och ( 86.1 % to 68.9 % ) - - Better 3 pt shooter then Och ( 39.5 % to 37.7 % ) so really where would he not be as good ? - - neither one really plays defense that well. - -Och didn't turn the ball over as much is really the only area where he is better then JCL. - -assists ration is a wash - - Steals are a wash -I think they pretty much balance one another out

Ah! We’re just talking past each other. By ball skills I mean handling and passing, stuff that point guards usually do. I don’t like JCL or Ochai playing on the ball at all. So I think they’re the same position, and I think we agree on that!

@FarmerJayhawk ok. I know people feel that way it's just hard to imagine our starting 1 and 2 both being 6 feet tall. You think Martin and Yesufu start?

At this point yes. Yesufu definitely isn’t a PG. Bill isn’t afraid to play small at guard. Frank was like 5’10 and Devonte measured 6’1.5 at the combine. Not sure how much difference a couple inches makes (that’s what she said)

Welcome Sydney Curry! • May 29, 2021 03:32 AM

I don’t think JCL will start, assuming Och is back. An Isaiah Moss role is more his speed at this point in his career. He just doesn’t have good enough ball skills to play the 2. I really doubt we redshirt more than Cuffe. Self just doesn’t redshirt multiple guys unless a team is absolutely loaded at one spot, like the 10-11 squad. The exception would be if we found out Bobby is hurt worse than we think, in which case might not be a bad idea.

Trevor, the WR has 4 years to play. Definitely a burner on the outside, averaged 20 yards per catch last year.

Eddie is a 330 pound DT with 2 to play. 3rd team all MAC last year.

2022 Crootin • May 28, 2021 07:47 PM

@jayballer67 that all sounds right to me. I think they RS at least one, maybe both of Easters and Hawley. You don’t really need 4 QB’s active. Shoot, maybe even RS Daniels and use Kendrick for garbage time if Daniels hits 4 games. Avery Johnson is going to the QB to watch, class of 23. Local kid out of Maize will be a 4* by the time he’s done.

2022 Crootin • May 28, 2021 05:42 PM

@jayballer67 Meyers decommitted when Dearmon left. I kind of doubt they take a QB in the 22 class. Already have 3 true frosh plus Bean, who has 3 years to play. Plus being short on scholarships makes the numbers kind of tough.

They've also done a Zoom with Kansas HS coaches. Doing another one tonight with KC area HS coaches.

Getting a strong base in the KC area (and in the Wichita area) will be the key to getting back on track. Those are the two areas that obviously will produce the bulk of D1 talent in the state, so you have to hit those hard.

Definitely. Those areas look especially strong in 22/23.
