Hawks just picked up a big WR / TE. Had a lot of offers including LSU and Nebraska
I dig it. Probably takes us out for Williams but can’t get enough big, athletic guys. I bet he ends up at H back
Post-Okie Lite. Agbaw, Locklin, Parker, Dom Williams, Harris, Bostick, Frazier, Borcila, and Terry are the scholarship players who can RS. Agbaw and Frazier haven't seen any snaps and I don't expect that to change. Bostick has seen action the last 2 games so I expect him to play the rest of the year. Terry can also play the last 2. Borcila has played 4 so he's done. Locklin and Parker have played in 3.
@Crimsonorblue22 that’s a really interesting observation. I checked out the offer lists for 2020 and 2021 and we haven’t offered anyone we’d consider a “bruiser” like Dave or Doke. Lots of lanky, 210-230 pounders who have some skill.

I think he just didn’t know he had passed, unfortunate but I don’t think he meant any disrespect. Obviously he had talked to him in years.
This is my take. I’m sure he’s embarrassed to be saying hey hope you’re well to a dead dude. Right thing to do to apologize. I doubt Kwamie is offended or anything.
Crimsonorblue22 said:
@FarmerJayhawk why on earth would he need to apologize for that? Guess I missed that!

Anybody hear what the fox sports 1 announcer said about our receivers dad? Not sure which one. It's in Kc star, can't get it. I guess he apologized.
Yep. He was giving shoutouts to Kwamie Lassiter Sr., who passed in January.

@FarmerJayhawk How has Nick Saban's defense fared against spread offenses with good, mobile QB's like what they've seen against LSU, Clemson, Auburn, or Georgia? They get torched because a 3-4 is a bad fit against that style of offense. If more SEC teams ran that system, Bama's defense wouldn't look as elite as they typically do.
A 3-4 defense has never been a good fit against spread offenses with a mobile QB. It opens up too many running lanes.
Saban vs:
LSU 9-3
Clemson 2-3
Auburn 8-4
Georgia 5-1
Total: 24-10. So I'd say pretty good? Michigan and BC under Don Brown based out of the 3-4 for years and led FBS in total D for like 3 years in a row. Georgia bases out of it now. If it was so bad why are elite defensive coaches playing it? You can scheme that some by spying a LB or playing zone behind it.LSU didn't run a spread offense until this year and they torched Saban's defense. Auburn with elite QB's have torched Saban's defense over the years. Saban has a losing record against Clemson, go figure.
Saban gets by with superior talent, not superior strategy.
Cool, give me stats. Just saying stuff over and over doesn’t make it true. Now do Kirby Smart and Don Brown.

@FarmerJayhawk The issue with the DLine is schematic. A 3-4 defense doesn't work against college offenses because the NT isn't strong enough to handle the role of a nose. It takes years to get big enough.
With the OLine and LB groups, they've been hit by injuries pretty badly this year and having to play some guys who shouldn't be playing yet. Dineen isn't his brother and should still be a backup, but Prox's injury has forced him into a bigger role than he's ready for yet. Gavin Potter is going to be a great B12 LB, he just needs game reps.
The OLine seemingly has injuries every week so I'm guessing those guys are playing at 75% healthy at best right now. Malik Clark seems to get hurt every game at this point.
Long term, those positions will be fine and the OLine would look a lot better with a better QB behind them.
Sure it can. Otherwise guys like Saban wouldn’t base out of an odd front. Stanford plays a 3-4 and has won a ton of games with it.
Well they haven’t been good all year so injuries aren’t really the issue. They got worked by Indiana St. for cripes sake.
Agree that we’ll be fine long term. Sounds like we have a good shot at landing some quality OL in 2020 and already have a bunch of front 7 guys committed. Would love to get Fortin to top it off but we’ll see.
Also, Manny is terrible. Lets not do this anymore.

Not sure what’s going on since the announcing crew doesn’t know what’s going on but if Stanley is hurt let’s see what Mac or Locklin can do. We know what we have in Miles. A GA next year.
McVittie showed up big on his ONE play - - ugly interception
That was bad. Not going to read much into it given it was a janky trick play.

@FarmerJayhawk I'm just annoyed. This yr is about what I expected but still hate to see it.
Part of the issue of being a hoops-centric school. People think you can turn around a football program at the same pace as basketball.
Texas Hawk 10 said:
Carter Stanley isn't a good QB. Teams load up against Pooka and force Stanley to beat them and he's usually not good enough to do so. Stanley has had probably 3 good games this year (BC, Texas, and Tech). The rest have been a mixture of average to bad games.
QB is missing element this season. The reason Pooka had his breakout season last year was because Bender was a good enough QB that defenses had to respect his ability.
This is why I didn't have a big issue with Koenning. His system works just fine as does Dearmon's, but each system needs a good QB to operate the system to its potential. Carter Stanley is not that QB on a consistent enough basis.
And a DL... and a LB corps... and an OL... we’re averaging close to 50 more yards per game than last year.

@FarmerJayhawk good football teams are a bad match up. LSU thriving without Les now.
Took them catching lightning in a bottle hiring a total unknown as Passing Game Coordinator. Coach O was on the hot seat all of 2 years ago. Weird comp.
Defense is much improved over last week against the run. But OSU is a much more explosive offense than the Cats. Broken record, but this is a really bad matchup for KU.
Lol we got a badass over here

Saw @Ty_Youngbull
this summer. He is a big-time recruit for @KUHoops
. Can play all the perimeter positions easily. He’s the offensive equivalent of what Marcus Garrett brings to Jayhawks defense.
Whoa. High praise! Fran loves him some Garrett.
FWIW, Kyree Walker wants to enter the 2020 draft. KU would only be interested if he wanted to come back for 20-21. Since that’s not the case, KU won’t be an option. KK obviously isn’t signing in the fall but I don’t expect KU to circle back unless something weird like Christian Braun transferring happens. (Not that Braun is going anywhere. Just an example of the type of weird it would take)

Haven't seen them yet but I don't have any worry they'll be in very soon.

I loathe monocausality, but it has to do with rule changes (more possessions, points of emphasis on defense), our lack of elite defensive talent over the years, and younger teams.

Interesting to offer after getting Bryce. Is this a real offer?
Uhhh. Good question.
Got a response on Walker. Likely Arkansas. No team overseas really bit and they’re definitely not interested in signing him mid-season. Doesn’t mean he’ll play college ball but can’t see KU making much of a play here unless we just absolutely need a guy.
