Have one commit already, a good shot at 2-3 more.
Might be a fun next week or so...

@FarmerJayhawk Not gonna argue that, Trask is better.
I'm not sure if KU is in a position to tell Franks no to hope to get Fortin. Fortin probably has better options.
I can say Fortin is enamored some with the opportunity at Kansas. Almost guaranteed 3 years as a starter at a place he can become a legend just for winning 6 games per year.

If they can go get a higher-end transfer QB, I think you'll see a big jump next season.
Lot of smoke for Feleipe Franks to KU.
Oh man. Pls no. Million dollar airport, $10 light tower. I guess I’d take him if we whiff on Fortin and other targets but... woof
Seen him play a fair bit since he was at a high profile school and I catch a lot of CFB games. Honestly, I'd take him in a second. He's a guy that wins you some games on his athletic ability alone. Defenses are a lot less tough in the B12.
We can't be too picky right now. Plug him in for one year while hopefully picking up someone else.
Is Fortin eligible right away?
That's the thing. Will he be fully healthy? That was a nasty ankle/leg injury. Trask was much better than Franks when he took over. I'm not saying no to Franks if we whiff on Fortin, but Fortin is my clear choice. He's graduating with his AA from Hutch this month then will be immediately eligible as a JuCo transfer.

@FarmerJayhawk LSU, Clemson, Alabama and Ohio St can all breathe a sigh of relief for another year or two.
We’ll be fine. Not saying you’re this way, but a lot of KU fans are so in tune with basketball they think this thing can go from Beaty winning 6 games in 4 years to a bowl game overnight. It just can’t happen given what the new staff inherited.
Finally had the chance to pull the offensive game logs. And keep in mind, these are against a much tougher schedule in 2019 vs. 2018. CFB Reference has us playing the 24th most difficult this year, 50th last year. Just in non-con, BC>>Rutgers and Coastal>CMU. 2018 Rutgers and CMU went a combined 2-22, 2019 BC and Coastal went 10-14. Big difference.
First, to things we absolutely can control, notably penalties and penalty yards. We're down a full penalty per game from 2018, 6.5 to 5.5, and down 5 penalty yards per game.
On offense, we're up 26 yards per game from 2018, 351 to 377. We were more volatile this year (SD is about 40 yards higher), but the average is up. That increase wasn't the result of running more plays either. My favorite offensive metric, yards per play, is up from 5.2 to 5.8. Points were down every so slightly, from 23.8 to 23.5. 1/3 of a point per game is basically negligible, and almost entirely due to the kicking game. Rui was great, Jones was... not.
Defense is more a mixed bag. We gave up 6 more points and 56 more yards per game, but yards/play was flat. The huge difference on that end is turnovers. Forced 2.25 per game last year, only 2/3 of one this year. I'm less worried about that metric since turnovers are very noisy (especially fumbles). Again, all this is with the caveats that we played a much tougher schedule and we lost more production off the defense than anyone in the league per Phil Steele. So take it for what it's worth.
So overall, we made progress but we've got a shatload of work to do on the recruiting trail.

Is he visiting ?
Just decommitted today so nothing scheduled yet. Wouldn’t surprise me if he waited until late to sign.

Believe that article is wrong hes a 2020 guy. He visited only 2 schools on his supposed
list. Farmer would know more but I dont think we have been active with Thor in a while. Maybe that changes as the season goes on but OSU having a good start and looking like a team that could be ranked during the season might seal the deal for them as they have the roster space
Thor is a 2020 kid. I think it's pretty likely he's going to OSU barring some NCAA stuff. At this point I think it drags on for awhile.

@FarmerJayhawk There are still people who believe we can get Clayton to flip on his visit this weekend. -- I think this will be the last weekend before early signing isn't it ? - -nice we get to have him still visit after verbal.
Get Pooka to spend some time with him - -do some of that Pooka Magic - - off the field , talk to him. - -smack in the face with Les leading the way - - think signing day is on the 11th right ? I think we got a shot. -- ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY
I happen to be one of them! I don't think it's likely but certainly possible. We'll have two more weekends before signing day. I think we'll have around a half dozen visitors total.

Best I can tell, here's the scholarship breakdown, current as of today. Key takeaways: yuuuuge junior class, tiny sophomore class. Those will keep us around 75 until 2022 (thanks, Dave!). Not a lot in the trenches either. Buckle up my dudes, it could be another 3-9 2020 season.
Huge visiting weekend coming. Clayton will be in town for the CU basketball game. Plus I believe these large humans are visiting https://247sports.com/player/armaj-adams-reed-46081126 ↗

@FarmerJayhawk I hope doke proves them wrong. We don't have room, do we? I think if d dot keeps hitting outside, he'll have a chance to move up. 🙏
We’re 1 over as of now. 2 guaranteed departures, 1 open scholarship, and 4 commits. These things always work out.
Good. Everyone come back!
We’re only 36 point favorites so Walton will at least be entertaining
KK announcing Thursday. Can’t think KU has a shot but Arkansas is like 3 guys overcommitted at this point.
Lol they missed an obvious false start on the RB
We’re in a dog fight at #20 in the country. We’re absolutely making progress.

@FarmerJayhawk Again, I don't think our NCAA venom is entirely well placed. The suspension for Wiseman was relatively predictable. See Bilas' comments before the suspension was released. We've seen guys get suspensions based on the improper benefits, and that it's based on the amount received. The NCAA always requires payback. And if you review the terms, it's very flexible, almost permitting him to skate on some of it.
@ajvan The reason, I think, is because of the facts with Wiseman were well developed and known. When there is more info to be added, investigated, etc., that takes more time. Silvio situation was less than clear with all the denials and b.s. out there. Same with Preston. Wiseman, there were no real denials of what took place if I understood it right. The issue was just what would occur because of it. But I'm not defending the time delays.
However, the ridiculous delays we saw with the NCAA in some of our cases -- Diallo sticks out to me -- were really a joke.
My beef isn’t with the NCAA in this case. I believe it was open and shut, run of the mill eligibility stuff that they handled relatively quickly.
My beef with the NCAA is they don’t follow their own precedents and sanctions vary widely between cases with very similar facts.

@HighEliteMajor I find the distinction pretty blurry, maybe because I'm not taking the time to parse the definitions involved ("booster," etc). What irritates me more is how the Wiseman judgment happened in a matter of days while Silvio had to wait months.
It’s blurry because the NCAA doesn’t differentiate in its own bylaws or penalty schedule. There is no distinction. Period. The NCAA just makes it up as they go. So Wiseman has until April to pay back $11k while not permitted to make any money and maintain eligibility. I don’t know what his mom does for a living but I doubt she’s got that kind of cash just laying around.
New offer. Self was in today. https://t.co/hbOLPbeWa5?amp=1 ↗
Bill is so happy. We beat a really good team getting worked from 3.
Not going to lose sleep over it. He’s got some tools. Not going to have 13 top 100 guys. Even dook and UK have practice bodies at the end of the bench.

Gueldner very complimentary of this team. In related news, hell froze earlier.
