Thought process is the risk:reward just isn’t there. It’s just G League interest and he can do much better overseas. If he plays well there NBA teams will notice.
Just a guess. Silvio doesn’t need the G League combine because overseas is the plan. For all we know he got a good offer.

He has them on his list because he wants an Under Armour school since he used to play on their shoe circuit and it's a Texas school. Have to keep the locals interested, even though Lubbock might as well be on Mars compared to Dallas.

Dotson, Hampton, Tucker, Agbaji, Garrett is a pretty okay guard rotation. Factor in the bigs and it would one of Self's best rosters in quite some time...
That's the guard rotation I use in NCAA Hoops 2k8. We wreck people. It's cool because you can download new rosters every year.

He's only landed 3 top 50 recruits, not especially impressive considering how long he's been here at this point.
Norm and KT both have a better track record in recruiting than Howard does. Howard is KU's weak link in recruiting.
If we count transfers, the number is 5 or 6. Dedric and Malik were pretty good here.
Let's not forget Howard had the scout against dook last year, where Self had one of the finest coaching performances I can remember from him. I agree that if anyone should go (which, no thanks), it should be Townsend. Remember Howard also got the Lawson's via his connection to Memphis when he was lead on Vick. SMU connections and all that jazz.

Daniels is saying Memphis is the heavy favorite for Boogie Ellis, another PG. So maybe the Memphis staff is thinking they may not land RJ.

I doubt it. Dook has long preferred RJ stay in 2020. Pretty sure that ship has sailed. Can't see him going there with Jones and Stanley on board. Boogie wasn't going to get any of RJ's minutes anyway.

That's where my head is at. I think a lot of these guys (other than Hampton) are in about the same tier so you take the first guy you can get and move on. You absolutely don't want to get caught in a situation where Dotson gets a 1st round grade and you're left with a backcourt of McBride and Garrett. You ideally take a perimeter player soon (Tucker, Gilder) and wait on Hampton and Walker later this summer.
He got recruited over before he even stepped foot on campus (Stanley). With Jones, Goldwire, and O'Connell coming back, he would've had to fight to be the 3rd or 4th guard when K promised a shot at starting.

I don't think Silvio is a pure center at all. God forbid people have slightly different evaluations of a player, but he's got a decent stroke out to 15 and handles it well for a guy who's 6'9 245.
